The last three days I spent at Echo Park in downtown Los Angeles to record history the closing and removing of the homeless encampment in Echo ParkI spent many hours at the park to show you guys exactly what’s going on in Echo Park I had really good conversations and I met a few really nice people it was a good experience - Розваги
I've tried and let a homeless lady, stay a few days with me. It was clear she really was happy in her situation. Some people just can't be helped.
Please be careful who you let in your home these days!
Are you crazy! You'll be lucky to wake up with just your belongings missing. God forbid there's kids in the house because they will be finding drugs next.
This is the reason none of them want help, they are scared of critical people!!
That was very risky. She could have claimed residency at your house and never leave. Do not do that anymore.
@@andyleo8418 So true! Squatters are actually taking claim to other people's houses/mortgages. The original owner ends up homeless and because of the eviction moratorium relief and mortgage forbearance programs, the owner ends up homeless. Many cases have occurred!
One problem is not solved by creating another problem!
The City of LA has Covid-19 Hotel Vouchers, but the homeless do not want to be tracked in the system. Some of that reasoning is based on the drug distribution at street level. Like animals, they eat, sleep, play and many actually do use drugs all day to play, because most of them are not working at paying jobs. Just an observation, not a value judgment!
The culling of America's population and the world down to 500 million is in progress. See the Georgia Guide Stones and Dr. Deagal Report. This paradigm shift occurring in the world is sad, but thank you, GIV for working tirelessly to bring us now, the "news" which we don't see on broadcast TV up here in the Bay Area.
They drag old furniture into the park and all kinds of other trash into the park and leave piles of junk everywhere then get pissed at you when you pick it up and clean the park. The city is giving them a clean safe hotel room and trying to help but most of them don’t want it.
Cuz these types of homeless are scum

@River Paz it's logic, they're are lazy and don't wanna work
@River Paz Think about this. We pay tax for them to stay in hotel but they don't want to. They built their "own homes" there. Is it right? Do you think it's safe for your kids, tourists to go to the park? Do you think it's safe for them to get in subways or to go wherever in the pandemic? Do you know they can trade 1 used needle to 10, 15 clean one in OC? Do you know in San Francisco to keep them to staying in hotel we have to support drugs? They "Poo poo, pee pee" in front of the restaurants? Do you know many international meetings cancelled cause dirty and not safety there?... more and more things to know to have human feeling...
@@gersonlinares2307 exactly! They don't want to stay in the hotel cause they're alcoholic, they use drugs... They can ask people money for "their income". In the rush hour they can get $2 and more every red lights/every minutes (no tax)....

There’s a thin line between helping and enabling. It’s a tough call. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.’
Facts! And that line is called accountability by the individual.
This is the correct comment. It’s a terribly difficult situation for everyone; homeless squatters, local residents, and the city officials.
That’s why I don’t trust people giving them tents instead of helping them get real help.
I believe in voluntary help, not tax-funded big-buck commissioners and endless meetings and "fact-finding" trips to other cities on our dime.
Government is the worst way to do anything.
I saw enabling in Seattle before covid. Many of the younger people I talked with ,were addicts, didn't want to go, the food was so good & plentiful I ate there & took food with me- GOOD food. Yogurt, tangerines, bagels...
You are a Los Angeles legend for doing what you do. Thank you
I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about the fact that public parks are public parks… They are for everyone to enjoy and for no one to actually call it home and live in them.
Just don’t camp in them causing chaos.
Well then maybe you should start pressuring your local government to house them. Protest isn't supposed to be comfortable. Capitalism is a very destructive and evil system. Our government has enough money to house everyone in this country 10 times over. I live in pdx and it's the same issue. If you have a problem with the homeless then help them not be homeless anymore
@@nosvratupanaoic4221 The world doesn't owe us understanding. There are third-world countries where the housing situations are way worse than here. Our life is our responsibility but when you turn a public park into a place where you eat, shower, and shit that is unsanitary and unsafe for others. That's not right. There is a community there of people who work, have families, and create homes for themselves who all visit that park. I hate capitalism just as much as you but we can either whine about it and get swept around by the people in power or we can stand up for our lives, live within the world as it is, and change it from the inside out. If you just live on the street, no one cares what you have to say. That's just how it is.
@@nosvratupanaoic4221 Why should local government house them? Many of these people ARE NOT locals. They come from other places. Imagine paying local taxes for years, just so that these people can come and just suck up all the recourses. I say we house the people who have been here for at least 10 years and send everyone else back to where they came from.

Unfortunately, the majority of homeless people want housing, but don't want any of the responsibilities that go with housing. Sort of like liberals.
You're so correct. They refused assistance so they can stick with their life style.
I think you're right on. If you want to live free you're going to have to go by the unwritten rules. They can pay 50 bucks a month for a storage unit or share a hotel room or bedroom but people have a problem with living with each other. I say we use our prison system for what it's for. Three meals a day health care toilet shower and work release.
Then, you should know, when theres an addiction to alcohol, its pretty impossible to get out of the ugly circle of poverty & no home.
Echo Park is probably the most famous park in Los Angeles. After they did the 45 million dollar renovation the park was absolutely beautiful. I loved going there and renting the peddle boats with my family. What this video doesn’t show you is the Shootings, the Stabbing, the Animal abuse that’s taken place in Echo Park. Everyone one of those Homeless people are being offered housing and they refuse to leave. They refuse to accept the help. I used to feel really bad for the Los Angeles homeless back in the day but not anymore, not when they refuse help from the city. These people living in tents in the park were offered help from different organizations for weeks prior to this day. Many of them took the help but the ones that remain did not. Mainly because of their drug use and other addictions to which they are not ready to quit. We all have the right to live our lives the way we want but this is a park and it is illegal to set residency. The many times I walked there for the most part I would see people getting high in bright daylight and with no regards to families and their children.
Would you like to be forced into government housing?! Let us all remember that even concentration camps are technically government- housing! Just because your fortunate to still have family, etc etc does not give you the right to prevent others from living and surviving just as your ancestors did. Or you would not even be here to complain! If you think governments are your friend. Boy are you wrong. In fact, The founding fathers of this country did everything they could to LIMIT government because they knew in their wisdom how easily governments can become monstrous and tyrannical. You should be standing with these people. And just remember this: everytime you pass or see a "homeless" person your attitude should be THERE BUT BEFORE THE GRACE OF GOD GOES I.

@@stevemcgowen ugh..I'm so tired of these generalized over-arching statements like they all do drugs. Yes of course, many do. But to generalize the " homeless" as drug addicts is not correct. yo just came back to ur channel after a year and you blew tf up, congrats man!
chanting "housing is a human right!!" but at the same time wanting a homeless encampment in the park?..
7:06 that “This is what community looks like” sign, sorry but seeing bunch of homeless tents in the public park and needles found on the ground isn’t exactly what I define a fine community
Ok let them stay but start charging them property taxes like everyone else. Complete waste of human capital. Make the homeless clean up the park.
@@BlooOcean lol exactly
Actually housing is NOT a human right....you do have the right to "pursue" housing
@@CmonstoleCmonstole could you explain why housing is not a human right can I take your house then.
It's sad that the homeless public speaker is talking like they're being evicted from their home. It's a public park. Mental illness and substance abuse are the core issues these people need to address in their respective lives. Only then can they expect to come back to the real world and get their lives back on track. God bless.
then why dont you let them into your home?
True, but the problem is that those people dont see the problem, they prefer to not work, get high and live on streets with no rules. And they feel they are entitled to freebies, like services, food, money. What do u suggest to do with that?
@@djphlange why dont you let them into yours.. you seem to want to allow thief's liars and low lifes into your life as is so why not criminal bums without any perseverance of achieving anything at all.
@@GoofusPlays that's like saying some people in prison are great people but they were falsely accused..the rest are real criminal murderers and convicts.
@@edwarddiaz8136 wtf are you talking about?
I'm not advocating for the government to look after these people.....these people are.
They want "government" to pay for it but guess what, tax payers are the government. So these people want to pay for these things with other peoples money.....so first, why dont they let them into their homes? Set an example....because they dont actually care, they want to seem to be caring.
And I'm not sure where the fuck you pulled I'm cool with liars, thieves and whatever else......you're making shit up and putting your own feelings on shit that's not there.
Very nice reporting on the park and the homeless situation, 😊👍💕💕💕
Hello Vivian williams how are you? Your beautiful
Thanks for ALWAYS keeping it real and honest. Always an interesting video.😘💖💝❤️😻😍🥰💗💘
How can they not like you. You are the most likeable person EVER. I enjoy your videos, thank you for all the work you put into them. Love from London 🇬🇧 UK.
I get wanting to live like a nomad and free, but don't impede others right to enjoy the park.
Most homeless actually pretty much stay to themselves. Yeah there's a few mentally unstable ones, but heck there's plenty of mentally unstable people everywhere, homeless or not. But by and large, I've witnessed that homeless stay to themselves. So saying that they are bothering you in any fashion is quite the misnomer. I mean what?.. They are bothering you by existing??
If you want to be free then move to free land... out in the desert.
@@jonothandoeser I personally always look to home-stead near a river, or a body of water. The desert definitely would not be my first choice. That's a little too mad max for me. Lol
What about the right to housing, food, and healthcare? Oh wait, This is America... 🤪
@@stfu6663 I'm not sure what people mean by the right to housing food and healthcare in reality someone has to produce that there is no such thing as a free lunch somewhere down the line someone has to produce it to work for it or by the sweat of their brow. In reality we can't just pull a house or food or health Care out of a hat or out of thin air it has to be produced and work for. Somebody, somewhere, at some time had to put energy into producing that. That's kind of like the same mentality as some ignorant people say hey let's just print enough money and give it to everybody well it doesn't work that way cuz if we do that then money becomes worthless.
You are a good dude, giv!! You made an awesome video here!! Thanks!!

WHY DO homeless people just leave trash everywhere? I could be homeless but i would still have the values instilled in me to not drop litter and turn my little patch of ground into a dump.
thats also part of the reason why you wouldnt be homeless in the first place....those values and self worth keep you working to handle your responsibilities
When I was homeless in this park everyone cleaned up after themselves. And if someone was messy we would tell them to clean their shit up or get the fuck out. Obviously everything looks fucked up in this video cause everyone's packing their stuff to leave. After I got out of this situation I would pass by the park and everything looked clean to me. Obviously lots of tents up but I never saw garbage overflowing etc...
@@catlarios7981 I live in echo park and No, it’s not messy in the video because “they’re packing up their shit to leave”. This is how they live 24/7.

Thanks for keeping us informed about what's going on. I have a bad feeling that this will take generations to resolve.
Hey, hey Bro bro. Echo echo park park! I realize the importance of this video, but I had to acknowledge how I fell off my bed laughing when you did that "Echo" introduction. Oh boy was that funny!! Now that I have taken care of that. Thank you for showing us what really goes on. chaos thinks you are a great fellow! \m/
Wow! Who wouldn’t want lake front property for free? This is disgusting. I don’t feel sorry for these people one bit. They choose this life. Now more than ever, there’s more money and resources for these people yet, they don’t want to have to do what it takes to become decent tax paying citizens. Now they get lake front and beach front property? They want to get high and have everyone else clean up their shit.
100%% Agree with you.
Yep.
So youd be completely happy living in a camping tent in front of a man made lake? Youd be happy knowing youre looked down on for living in that tent?
@@selectiveapathy Yep, plenty of people CHOOSE to defy social norms. Ever hear of “selective homelessness?” UA-cam search it. Plus...having been an alcoholic myself, I can tell you that just because something is frowned upon, doesn’t mean plenty of people won’t choose to still do it. That’s an awfully bizarre argument.
@@selectiveapathy you can’t camping in park. So sad right ? It is illegal to campaign if there is no campaign sign and paid camping fee per night and per car. You pay campaign fee for cleaning services and rent place.
The city wants Echo park to be clear so families can visit, people dont want to visit the park full of tents filled with drug addicts and garbage everywhere and you know this is true. There might be a few good homeless people but you know the rest of them are up to no good.
ALOHA UNKLE
I HOPE U R HAVING A BLESSED AND PRODUCTIVE DAY
I need to get up at 5:30AM go to work, pay a Mortgage, Car Insurance, Buy Groceries Pay for utilities, and Pay for our Daughters College Tuition. These people sleep-in, have no responsibility, Free everything. These complainers make me sick.
Agree. The problem is they love getting High some say they ain’t addicts
Agreed ., everyone else is living., ppl moving from other countries here for the opportunities too. These ppl just don't want to work!
Amen.. I've been working 40 years....
All this is being paid on by your tax paying money
Homeless people are just like any other panhandler. I worked for the city cleaning up and removing all tents and make shift homes that homeless would create in alleys.
Some choose this life. I can only refer to the time a homeless man told me, “I would rather ask for money and not pay taxes, than have a decent job, home and still have to deal with bills, taxes and the other downfalls that come with living in this government”.
The govt has led people to make bad decisions.
Imagine if he put all that energy into getting a job
Who is he?
But he wants to be high all day.
I was just thinking to myself; what if a guy/gal had a big high tech job during the day and lived in Echo Park at night and on weekends. Just think of the money they could save paying no rent, taxes, etc. That homeless guy speaking in this video seemed quite articulate and intelligent....that's what got me thinking about this. Actually, that would make a good movie...not unless it's already been done. I'm not a big movie buff....don't know.
First you Need to go where the jobs are,,!
It’s much easier getting handouts, staying stoned all day, and doing whatever you want.
always enjoy your videos keep up the good work
Don’t worry I like you German and watch every video. Love from Denver Colorado
How come his wants are more important. What gives them the right to camp in a public park. I would move them on too. Govt needs to address this problem.
I am a Registered Nurse working at one of the hotels that the city is offering the homeless. They hire nurses so we can do physical assessments here, help them get medical care, and help them get medications they may need. They get 3 free meals a day, water, they're provided a clean room with a clean bed and TV with cable. They get a case manager that can help them get important documents, and can even help them find a permanent housing and jobs. Thing is... the large majority of the homeless people want to remain homeless. I have done many intakes here in downtown LA, and some of the same people who are put in hotels leave the hotels and go back to the streets the same day when they realize that they're not allowed to do drugs at the hotels. They don't even get that many restrictions and most of them refuse to follow all rules and they either get kicked out or just leave on their own and go back on the streets so they can do heroin, fentanyl, and other hard drugs. Most of these people are not homeless... they're transients. They choose this lifestyle and no matter how much we try to help they just don't want it :( it's a tricky situation nonetheless.
I typed this while watching the video... didn't realize that the hotel I work at was at the end of the video (LA Grand Hotel) 😂
Thank you for your words of wisdom and actual experience!! The entitlement I am seeing is astonishing...and so disappointing.
Exactly. As harsh as it sounds, we need to bring back state mental hospitals and extended 5150 holds.
