Today I went to Venice Beach and at the end of the boardwalk Nicolas Cage was filming a movie. I wanted to record it for you guys security call police on me to leave the set, but I stood my ground. - Розваги
It’s funny how they’ll allow paparazzi to film and take pics but when someone else wants to they get told to leave
@@3hooks781dude if they actually cared abt what was filming and what wasn’t be it paparazzi or a very respectable person like GIV then they would go around the internet trying to get rid of the photos and videos taken so you can’t say they don’t want them there bcuz a lot of the time they rly do
@@3hooks781also GIVE wasn’t even doing any “poking around” he simply stumbled upon this and decided to film it and the lady who sounds suspiciously like a man got all mad and called the cops over it
@@radiohostalastor My direct quote:
"intrusive poking around game that paparazzi does".
Didnt say GIV did that.
They don't allow the paparazzi, they tolerate the paparazzi. The paparazzi have been doing this for years, know the law (doesn't mean they obey it themselves) and have an attorney ready.
A person with their cell phone trying to record footage gets treated with disrespect because they think it's a civilian. If you were a person capturing footage on your shoulder with a professional still or video camera they would probably treat you with a bit more respect.
He was probably wearing those sun glasses, freaked people out!
Probably more people on the crew then there will be in the audience when this movie comes out.
Nobody tells the GiV what to do!
I agree ☝️
wrong I just did and so did you or are you really that stupid
GIV was filmed on another YT site called ...shacked...filming GIV while he was filming Cage

Only umbrella man.
Hollywood is a joke. The umbrella trying to block the view was HILARIOUS!!!!! Even Law Enforcement doesnt take their petty complaints seriously. LOL Keep up the great work!!!!!
The GiV is a ViG (very important German) in Venice Beach and, doesn't need to be doged by a rent a security guard. I loved how the GiV laughed it off! 😂
What an honor! Nicolas Cage was able to see the G.I.V. in-person!
It's a shame Nicolas Cages crew didn't want to be filmed by the famous German in Venice. Don't they know that the GIV would have given this up and coming artist the global exposure he would need if he ever wants to make it in Hollywood.
But he was filmed by the GIV... he got "the shot" , do you not see Nicolas Cage in the video?
😂
@@TwiddleBee chill buddy it's pure sarcasm. 😎
Does 'up and coming' mean 'I need to churn out 6 movies a year to pay my bills?'
you really must be on some super drugs to think Nicolas Cage needs an exposure boot from ANYBODY on youtube (and with that said Im assuming you were only joking about it anyway)
I remember the strand in Venice back in 1985. There were so many merchants and performers. It was packed with people, it was the boardwalk.

That police officer looked like he could have been in a movie :D
he was Sylvester Stallone
I thought he was a she ….. do not get me started …… With the pronouns
Most cops look like they belong in prison to me with all the gang tattoos on them and steroid abuse in most officers.
l think he was one of the actors on the movie playing a cop and not a real cop, he just seemed a bit fake to me and most cops patrol in pairs but he was alone

You can stand on public property and film in any direction you wish.
not when the studio is renting that space. they own that space until there done shooting.

Sooo good to see Venice Beach again. Like the people and atmosphere there. Missed it.
You can film anywhere in public, it's your right, and the cop's know it. If they don't want people filming, they should do it on private property. Glad you went and filmed what you did Mike, because these people aren't special, their not better than any other human just because they get paid big money and are seen on the big screen. I have much love for you GIV, because you are so kind and humble, and you look at thing's in the world as special, and then share how you feel with us. I don't believe in being a fan, i look at the person, because some people are either full of themselves, or they are fallible like we all are. G-d bless from a lady in Michigan.
No that security thing (because let's be honest that ain't no woman) went and LIED to the police to get her way, what a low piece of crap human being she is.
GIV!! I was looking for you and was hoping you'd show up. I am the Location Manager for the movie and set it up. Would have been great to meet you!! I am sorry my security guard did
not know who you are and all the great work you do!! Next time I shoot in Venice, I will message you!!
I hope you can get him in a movie. He deserves to be in a scene shot in Venice.
That must be a fun job?

Love how you laugh that security guard off😂😂😂
You make me smile!! Thank you!😊
I would think if they wanted an authentic Venice Beach setting for their movie they would love the GIV in a background shot!
I was thinking the same thing. The GIV is a VB icon.
Lol. Ha
Don't worry Mike. You are capturing the last good times in Cali, enjoy the good times.
😳❗️You could be right ...
This is ridiculous. Very few people even care about “movie stars” anymore. The production company should let any pics be taken just to help build hype in an underground manner.
Good job GIV!🎉
I liked Celebrities more when I was younger, but as I get older I realize that they are all just people like us, that other people just stick a camera in their faces and film. They have all the flaws like everyone else. Nicolas is a good actor but I think that he is Very greatful that his uncle, the very famous director ( Francis Ford Coppola) probably got his foot in the door for him.🤙
@@scottgalbraith9656 yes, Cage actually does seem like he would be very cool in person. It’s just the whole over the top production and some random guy (GIV) can’t even take a pic from 9000 yards away and all of the demons in the industry that are exhausting. Fans like GIV are what is keeping this industry alive.
@@scottgalbraith9656Glad that Nicolas pushed on through that crack in the door and made the most out of the opportunity! He has made a lot of my favorite movies!
Looks like a stupid movie anyway
Your perspective is bias and only applies to your personal beliefs or opinions. Which does not apply to business rights or privacy regulations as a whole from a state or federal level. willful acts that are literal invasion(s) of privacy should never be tolerated or ignored due to another person’s lack of understanding or their failures in obtaining reasonable information. It’s 2024, but a large majority doesn’t understand their basic rights. Ignorance is no longer a justified excuse. Mistakes of laws or mistakes of facts is not a valid defense. incomprehension should not be glorified or encouraged.
I'm very happy to see them using Venice Blvd for filming again. ❤
GIV standing up for citizen journalists!
That was one cool LAPD officer
The GIV, flexing that 1A on em!
She says, “you can’t film, because we’re working here.” Mike, you should’ve told her the exact same thing, because you were doing BOTH!

That cop was a cool dude 👮♀️
You can film anything you want on public property. It’s called the 1st Amendment. And you have a right to be on public property. It’s your property.
Absolutely sir! 👍🏻
exactly you can sue them for that.
Incorrect!
When considering the First Amendment and its implications for filming on public property, like at the beach, the following points are relevant:
1. Public Spaces and Free Speech: Public beaches, parks, streets, and similar areas are typically considered public forums where First Amendment protections are robust. These areas are generally open to the public, and activities like filming are usually protected as forms of free expression. The government cannot arbitrarily restrict these activities without a compelling reason.
2. Reasonable Restrictions: While the First Amendment protects the right to film in public places, this right is not absolute. The government can impose reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions on filming. These restrictions must be:
• Content-neutral: They cannot be based on the content of the filming.
• Narrowly tailored: They must serve a significant government interest, such as safety, traffic control, or environmental protection.
• Leave open alternative channels: They must allow for other means of expression.
For instance, a city might require permits for filming in certain areas to manage congestion or ensure public safety, as long as these requirements are applied fairly and consistently.
3. Privacy Concerns: Even in public places, privacy considerations can come into play. Filming individuals in a way that invades their reasonable expectation of privacy (like using zoom lenses to capture private moments or sensitive areas) can lead to legal issues, even in public settings.
4. Commercial Filming: For commercial purposes, like a movie or commercial shoot, additional regulations often apply. Governments might require permits or fees to use public spaces for extensive commercial filming, to address potential disruptions and ensure public spaces remain accessible to others.
5. Protected Areas: Some public spaces, even if generally accessible, may have restrictions due to specific considerations. For example, filming in certain nature reserves or protected beaches might be limited to protect wildlife or preserve the environment.
6. Law Enforcement Interactions: The right to film public officials, including law enforcement, in the performance of their duties is generally protected under the First Amendment, as long as the filming does not interfere with their activities.
In summary, filming on public property, such as a beach, is broadly protected under the First Amendment. However, it is subject to reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions designed to serve significant governmental interests and preserve public order.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather watch him in a movie than Nicholas Cage..
Nicolas is a legend in his own mind! LOL
They should have to get a permit from YOU to film on your beach!
Funny thing is Nicholas Cage's new movie just got a huge plug with over 300k youtube subscribers on this channel and the security guard wants to run him off. The Venice Beach boardwalk should pay GIV for this video. It's the best advertisement you could possibly hope for, showing Venice Beach cleared of all the homeless camps with tourists and locals hanging out and enjoying themselves, Nicholas Cage shooting a movie. It's the ultimate tourist experience for LA visitors.
I’m in the film business. She is not supposed to do that if you are on public property. It’s ok then. If you are in the shot then they can politely ask you to move out of the shot. That’s it. As long as you don’t interfere in the production. Or disturb the actors.
Why are crews typically so snooty towards bystanders and people that film in public? Why is that typically the mentality? I understand spoilers and what not but it always like this even for the most insignificant scenes
A crew was filming two houses over from me on my day off as I turned on the electric gizmo to trim my bushes. A crew member. runs over and asks me if I could hold off on running the machine because their mics were picking up the noise. I said sure, and went to the beach.
I am sure someone told her to move GiV. Didn’t she say she didn’t care if he filmed?
@@imagesinla8575 I would have done same but I would have asked for some compensation and depending on what they were filming and if major star power was attached asked for a tour of the set and some swag? Maybe, lunch? LOL
@@raaawkstaaar Agree with you. Until these productions compensate the neighbors (not just the property wher filming takes place) that contend with support trucks, generator packs, noise, diesel exhaust, parking restrictions, blocked streets, snack tents, bright lights at night shining into windows, etc. we will continue to be bombarded with misguided prod staff and security who feel the need to exert control over the entire neioghborhood... because the city [at least in Los Angeles] allows such behavior to maintain and attract more film production to keep up the false image of it being the 'film capital of the world'.
I enjoy these type of videos. You actually showed a lot. That looks like a fun place to me. Regarding the Nicolas Cage movie, if any of his people are reading this comment: Watching what The GIV showed in this video makes me want to see the movie when it's finished. I like Nicolas Cage as an actor, but I don't care for most of the movies he's made. No criticism, but not my cup of tea. So The GIV is in a sense - promoting the film to people who would otherwise not be interested.
They were filming "SEAL Team" near my house once and I was across the street and a woman from the production told me that I couldn't take pictures and if I did she was going to make me delete them! She couldn't legally do it I'm sure! It was in a public area!! 30 min earlier I was standing super close and got a bunch of pictures! lol

The reason loads of people no longer go to Venice Beach is because it's developed a poor reputation. Mainly, people now associate Venice Beach with homelessness. And the homeless are thought to mostly be mentally unstable people who can be dangerous.

I've crossed paths twice with Cage. Once when California adventure was new and the park was dead. He and Lisa Marie with her kids got in line next to us for a ride. We talked about Ferrari's for about 10 min then went on our way. Second time was as a consultant on his movie "Next" at Morongo casino. He stayed in one of the bungalows while filming and stays under the name "Frankenstein Cadillac". Both times he was pretty nice and down to earth.

First! !!!! Someone posted a video of you when the cop was talking to you
Hi Mike. Two things. First of all great vid here. You always make me smile with your good natured curiosity. However, I must say that I am very shocked that the security was interfering with you. I just looked up the numbers for the amount of actual crime that goes on in Los Angeles. There are close to 1.2 million incidents per year. So 3,300 per day. So the fact that they are spending time on such a non incident means that they are not only being a nuisance to you but they are also not concentrating on the 3,300 other much more serious incidents. That tells me that this security guy and the other actor feel that they are more important than the other 20 million plus citizens of Greater Los Angeles. At any rate, other than that I applaud your work here. :) Cheers for now and I will be on the lookout for your next vid. :)
That security guard for the movie looks burned out with her job!

I walked past a salty looking guy sitting on a 5 gallon bucket wiping the hull of a sailboat that was out of the water with a rag. He didn't seem to be doing anything productive and was giving me the stinkeye as I walked past and I'm thinking 'wtf is HIS problem?' Then some kid rides past me on a bike... Oh glorious, glorious! I remember watching a documentary about the crime in L.A. that was filmed in 1985. Compared to now, it's almost like a joke but at that time you would have thought L.A. and Venice were very dangerous. They finally put that documentary on UA-cam and it's probably still there. One of the segments was of Venice as one of the most dangerous areas where black gangs would shoot each other in broad daylight on the boardwalk. They even showed security video footage of one of those many incidents. But I've seen footage of Venice in the early 80s when things were much safer except for the gangs getting into fights every once in a while. One documentary is from 1981 by a German TV station, showing young black youth pop locking (when it was still relatively new for the majority of us) to Cameo's Shake Your Pants. It's so strange and new that even cute black girls on the beach laugh at the guys because they probably never saw that kind of dancing. Another video shows one of the guys who introduced break dancing in Venice in spring or summer 1983 when it was still pretty much unheard of in the L.A. area. The Gap Band filmed a popular video for Party Train in 1983 and you can see people of all kinds having a good time. It doesn't show any homeless anywhere on the boardwalk. Sadly, that excitement left the area after the early 80s, just like the excitement in music that slowly died down. My parents lived in Venice for about a year on Rose Street in 1965 and it was safe back then. I still feel connected to the area but it's not easy to go there again after someone with ties to that area dies. I was going there almost every day for about a year in the early morning before anyone opened their shops. That was two years ago and I didn't know anything about GIV. I would have stopped by because I passed by there all the time when I visited Venice. My mother died recently and it was very hard to go anywhere because of the many memories I have about her. I'm gradually improving but it's one of the hardest things when a loved one, especially a mother that loved you and you loved, passes away.
I'm not lucky since every time I go to Venice, I rarely do, sadly I never run into the GIV. I won't give up and will soon see you in person Mike aka GIV! Oh, the first time I saw and subscribed to your channel was when you hiked the hill in Calabasas for Kobe.
I've run into GIV a few times. Once I saw him riding that scooter on the Venice Beach boardwalk. Once I saw him at the Rams super bowl parade. And once I saw him at LAX when he was returning from Germany.
