That's what most everyone needs. Well a cell phone, laundry, and small storage are also necessities. A big problem for most homeless is lack of storage except smart resourceful ones will go out and rent a small storage to use as a closet where you go once a week to get all your dirty laundry, do it at laundromat, return it, take 2 clean sets, return Wednesday with 2 dirty set, getting 2 or 3 more, and using only a regular student backpack on a daily basis. That's what worked for me where it's not too strange to take a regular backpack to work and other places. While you can't sleep in a storage room, they're super cheap allowing that critically needed space if you don't have a car trunk to work out of. Then the free Obama phones were easy for anyone to get that also included internet data and then you could use laptop wifi at libraries and coffee shops.

The first time I was homeless it was for eight months and the second time it was for 13 months. And I believe it was my faith in God that got me out of it and showed me away.

I used to live in Marina del Rey back in 2004. It was a beautiful city, but the homeless people always found ways to get into the "secure" parking garages to camp out. I remember seeing very few homeless people at Marina back then. I am completely blown away at how Venice Beach is looking. Of course it did have its homeless population too, but never to the degree it is now. LA is changed so much since my days of living there, and especially during the past year. It's sad to see just how unaffordable it has become.

We can't figure out a solution without figuring the root cause of the issue... but that means we must put forth effort other than sharing an opinion. Bad things happen to great people all of the time. I've known several that never had a drug issue until they were hurt; car/work accident. After being pumped full of pain meds for months they were doomed- 100%. Headed to the streets and lost everything... including their own lives. Obviously, there are several people here by choice, or have lost their jobs and don't have a family to turn to as well. It is sad... and the "working" have to pick up the tab because the elected council doesn't do anything but shuffle them around like playing cards.

I'd most certainly take the 8x8 tiny house over a tent for the tiny house is safer and probably more watched too where you can lock your stuff in there and leave out for the day. However if one is getting high and doing a drug ghetto colony, they're not going to want the tiny house human monitoring and social control program. I could not sleep at night living outdoors unless it was rural out of a car or in RV. The thing with RV's and campers, is there's not much legal parking nor lots you can rent to live in them for I too want out of my pricey apartment by going RV'ing instead where you could get one for like $5000 and break even in just a few months of not having to pay all that rent though high speed fiber or cable internet service is also a problem as is water and sewer for we just don't have the lots with infrastructure to support economical living like that. They did have trailer parks and a few remain, but not for RV's. Heck, my local RV camping area all closing due to drugs, homelessness, and crime. It sucks for that's a practical tiny house concept of living especially with Starlink internet coming online this year.

Since you’re speaking about psychological issues, and how it all works. Let me remind you that currently in LA County it takes on average over 3 months to get your first appt for any mental health service help. Mind you, this is not a governmentally insured person either, which could then make it take even longer to get that help. Then because of that wait time 9/10 times you end up with people self treating their own issues. But Unfortunately 90% of the time the self treatment then creates or fuels an already existing addiction issue. And by that point the battle to want to help yourself, and/or the person they once were, is pretty much lost.... so if you want to stop the “rewarding” as you say, we need to first start the enabling of mental health programs that actually work.

But rehab and time in mental institutions would be mandatory, if the city deems you danger to yourself or others around you, all they need is consent from your family and they will drag you to rehabilitation centers by force if they have to. Same if you get caught using drugs, police won't throw you to jail, police will throw you to mandatory rehab instead. Homeless and people with serious problems are free to commit themselves too.

Over 33% of the country is facing eviction or foreclosure right now. Many of your local business owners will be homeless very soon. Not because of an imaginary unsubstantiated virus ( that we are told travels through the air and resides on surfaces) but because of restrictions. It is a lot of work being homeless. The simplest things demand a great deal of effort. It (the plandemic) is all about The Corporate takeover of the world. Not about caring for people’s health at all.

@@oNeGiAnTLiE : I know the reality of what being very poor is, and not having enough money for rent. Or a mortgage for that matter.
But you must know, what a Hydra this is. It's not just a matter of not having somewhere to live.
The institutional infrastructure, to treat those with mental illness and addictions, is no longer there. This state allowed the population to grow, without limiting who comes, goes or stays. Whether from another state or COUNTRY, without accounting for if they are dysfunctional and simply moved or got moved to CA.
People that overestimate their value, and then can't be trusted in whatever living situation they are in, will find themselves in this situation too.
ALL of us, are responsible for that extremely important factor: being trustworthy.
And it takes time to earn it.
Which, if being on the sidewalk is an urgent matter, then deciding which rules you'll follow or won't will be the difference too.
LA is an overcrowded city. And constant competition for ever dwindling resources is also a part of it.
And this state just can't say no.

@@oNeGiAnTLiE I don't need to try being homeless, just like I don't need to try crack or jumping off a bridge to know it's not for me. My entire life has been lived quite minimally and within my means. Even if I was homeless, I wouldn't just be lying there. My area would be clean and welcoming. I also speak to homeless people regularly, you should too. They mostly want to just go on doing what they are doing and be left alone. They definitely don't want to fit into some preconceived notion that everyone should be in a house and working a job. I'm ok with that, it's America after all.
