Tina P. We all can be saints or heroes, just a NORMAL DECENT person nowadays seems the standard for Sainthood as you described Conrade, the painter! Sad that we, as collective parents have DONE POORLY in the area of "TEACHING OUR CHILDREN VALUES" . Without Values, no happiness, no possible solution in my opinion. Inane, vapid knee jerk solutions are temporary, until the People , We the People forget or become distracted by something else to outrage us! Sadly, we tolerate it, dependent on "GHOSTBUSTERS" , SUPERMAN/WOMEN OR other comic Super Heroes to bail us us.

I was homeless for ten years because of getting injured at work and the workers comp nightmare. I don’t drink or do drugs and I kept my “ camp” clean and free of trash. I kept all my stuff in a shopping cart that I took with me and took down my tent and packed it every morning. I never had any issues with the city, business or people working downtown. I closed my worker comp case because nobody would hire me and lost the healthcare that worker’s compensation provided. That said, I worked until I could get an apartment at temp jobs. Now I have been off the streets for four years and just had my three year anniversary at work. The key is to stay neat and clean and pack your belongings. Don’t panhandle and don’t steal and people won’t complain.

When I was in LA I went through a spell where I had to live in a rent a car for about 6 months while I worked just to save enough to get a place. The homeless rate there is incredible and all walks of life. Almost everyone I knew and met there said they went through spells of homelessness at one time or another. The laws haven't changed. Things have been different for everyone during this pandemic. There will be more homeless people and less trash and tons of tourists coming soon. It's gonna be ok.

@@taoist32 I was living on the street in Venice. I cared. I cleaned up my area. I packed my things up neatly every morning. The cops come every day and wake you up with a megaphone at around 6 am. Tents must be down by 7 am. You don't move fast enough and they slap you with a ticket. You're tired because you can't ever truly sleep or rest. You doze off before 9 pm in public and ticket. Handle bars on your bike too tall, ticket. I have a lot more I could share. I've lived it.

We need to get a GoFundMe going to help this man. He's working two jobs, and shouldn't be homeless. The system failed him, but we should all help! You've got an amazing following of people, and I truly think it could take off.

What that man was saying actually did make sense. I didn't know alot of the places were full...the solution I guess would be to create Downtown Japan style housing for them. Example: they build vertically instead of horizontally. Create homeless apartments instead of tiny houses

Most people have no animosity towards the homeless. The issue is when they decide to setup in public areas causing a health hazard etc.

I agree for some degree, but drug addicted folks making their own choice and politicians are not helping them to find the right way, it is more the opposite.

Respect to the graffiti man! we'll be visiting Venice in september from Amsterdam. We're kinda alarmed by tripadvisor reviews recently though. I feel a bit hesitant to go now. I was in venice two years ago and none of this was going on. Hope the homeless will find shelter and help and Venice will be beautiful again.
