I have always liked the sturdy, sleek and minimalist design of Sony a6xxx cameras that can fit in any bag. I always upgrade if there's a used unit at ebay or amazons with a good price. The game changer for me to give away my a6300 along with its battery grip and batteries (retaining the pancake lens) is Sony a6600's FZ100 battery. Thanks for the quesion Hussein k, since the release of the A9 the Sony camera's no longer support the timelapse apps, which is a bit frustrating for anyone who purchased them already. Luckily with the A6600 there is two ways you can create timelapses. The first uses the S&Q mode in the Quick setting to create a time-lapse video in camera, the longest interval between shots is 1 second. The second is using an Interval Recording mode that can capture still images with the longest interval being 60 seconds between shots, maximum number of shots is 9999 and you'll need to create the timelapse sequence on your computer rather than in-camera. Hope that helped to answer your question and sorry for the long reply.

Wow, over 200K views of a gear video, congratulations. At 4:59 you mentioned "new touch shutter" function. Actually, it is not new, it was introduced in the A5100 in August 2014. The A5100 had touch screen but the A6000 (February 2014), and A6300 (February 2016) didn't. Then Sony added touch screen to A6500 (October 2016), but simply forgot to add touch shutter. Now, with the A6600 (August 2019) touch shutter is back again after 5 years.

Hey Dan Iliev, thanks for the comment and glad to hear you liked the video. Colour science is super important these days especially when matching two cameras. The 24mm f/1.4 GM is a fantastic lens, we had one to shoot parts of this video and it's incredible, a great lens to take full advantage of the video eye-AF. Not sure how a sigma lens will work with the video eye-AF though, I'd assume they'd work but maybe test it out in-store before you buy just to make sure.
I have an old NEX6 and looking for an IBIS camera for casual use. Have several APSC lenses and spare batteries. Don’t need a bigger grip. Deciding between the a6500 vs the a6600. How much different is the autofocus tracking? Looking to photograph family, pets, portraits and landscapes. Which would you recommend?
Hey ,great Vid! I'm in the process of buying a Sony A7SIII and am wondering if I should get a 6600 (16-55/2,8) or an A7III(16-55/2,8) as a side cam. I use it mainly for 4K video and also often shoot events in the evening or people directly in front of the camera where I also want to have the surroundings on it. I need a Side-Cam for simultaniously captures. I also do not want any difficulties to put both recordings together. What would you (guys) recommend to me?
a6600 can be used for weddings. We would suggest A7MK III beacuse of the full frame sensor and dual card slots, which are a must with weddings. Full frame sensor will give you better crop potential and low light performance and dual card slots gives you redundancy just in case one of your cards fails.
If you're located in Southern California, someone is selling brand new units of the Sony a6600 for $1080 no tax. I was so happy I bought 2 and thought I'd share. Just go on OfferUp and search for a6600!

I still crave the image quality from FF cameras and a proper lens, but decided to upgrade to what's essentially the flagship APS-C combo: A6600+16-55f2.8G. It does the job better than I could use it.
Between both, there is no clear cut winner in “image quality” a6600 is also very sharp what is mor noticiable is obviously the depth of field, full frame is a lot easier to get that buttery creamy bokeh. I have both, I carry around the a6600 far more than the a7iii just for the reason that paired with a 35mm oss It literally still fits in my jackets pocket with the lense attached to the body. Also, lenses are far cheaper and the sigma lenses are INCREDIBLY Sharp, paired with the ibis you have a perfect setup.
I was choosing between these two. Doesn’t seem like Canon is investing in the EF-M lens nearly as much as Sony is in the E lens. And Sony has better lens today! If is wasn’t for that I would have gone for the m6. Instead I just ordered my a6600. Just which it had a built in flash.
I'm interested to know if the a6600 would be suitable for live streaming of church services. Other camera's I'm considering are the Panasonic GH5 and the Canon XA55 Professional 4K Video Camera. The primary purpose is live streaming but would also produce short video pieces as well. Would value your opinion.
Im using the A7iii for a year now and its amazing, I love it (photography and video) I'm looking forward to get two 6600 as camera B and C, any thoughts on this?
I opted for the A7iii and a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens for about the same price as an A6600 and the new 16-55mm f.2.8 lens. IMO, that is a no- brainer in a decision making process. I kept the A6600 (with a battery grip to equal the A6600 battery time)...
TYPO... I meant to write that I am also keeping my A6400 which with the battery grip using a pair of batteries has approximately the same battery capacity as the A6600 with the larger battery. Plus I have the option of using the vertical composition shutter button AND I can also carry the camera withiut the battery grip for a lighter weight combination...
Which is a good entry level budget camera for filmmaking-? Is sony a6300, sony a6500, panasonic gh5, Lumix? Which one is better for feature filmmaking? Please help me
Great comparison but i don't even understand why these two cameras are being compared, if someone wants full frame, there's no reason they should be considering the A6600. There markets are two totally different buyers.
i personally feel that if you shot under normal light, there won't be much difference between full frame and APS sensor...only if you go professional , or shot in dark, full frame wins
One of my biggest gripes with the A6600 is that Sony didn't improve the 20Mp sensor. And that the placement of the eyepiece makes this camera much better for people who are Left Eye dominant.
Hi Lothar, thanks for your comment. The A6600 and the Canon M6 II are pretty close in specs. The Canon has 8 additional megapixels, whereas the A6600 has a built-in viewfinder, sensors are a similar size & both cameras have video eye-AF for vlogging but only the A6600 has real-time tracking for stills. We havn't got our hands on the M6 II yet to review it but I suspect that other big differences would be ergonomics & battery life. Keep an eye on when the cameras are in stock so you can try them out yourself. Hope that helped a little bit.
@@lotharjoseph5040 buy the canon or the a6400, this sony is an overpriced apsc with the AF and the battery as its few redeeeming qualities. Same old sensor, only usb 2.0, single slot uhs i, still poor ergos and menus, etc.
This year I've had the A7 III, then bought Z6 as I saw a great deal, but it's true, full frame requires more money and as a Engineering student, I don't use it as much for filmmaking as I'd like to. So I'm looking at cheaper options, would the A6600 fit in? Or would you guys recommend any other camera in the mid grand range? Ps low light is important but a 1.4 lens will probably do...?
You may wan to look at the A6400 , it has many of the same features of the 6600 except the smaller battery but the price difference can be up to $700 with that you can buy a 2 prime lenses and a gimbal
@@SavageScientist yes that was my exact thought... Although when shooting travel videos, I won't take a gimbal as it is too big... but yes, the 700 dollar difference for bigger battery and IBIS is huge. Are there any other feature differences?

Aswin R B I returned my a6400 the every time unless on a tripod 100% of the time shaky footage and rolling shutter is awful unusable unless using a gimbal 100% of the time. Should wait to see what new gear Sony will announce or canon r5
My father is having Sony hx400 v I want to buy a new . Which one will you suggest me to buy. I will use the camera for Home videos, travel photos , family indoor functions and portrait photography in house
Thanks for the comment SHITALCHANDRA P, Either camera should do a great job with the styles you mentioned, but for indoor functions and portraits I would probably recommend the A7III because of the full frame sensor. But if you're planning to us an external flash for your photography either camera should deliver good results. Another thing to consider for travel photos is the size and weight, for travelling the A6600 might suit your needs a little better. Hope that answer helped, but I'd strongly suggest visiting a store and comparing the cameras side by side for yourself.
Hey, i am thinking to get one of those cameras. I am currently using the a6000. As i shoot a lot of pictures of my dog i am wondering which camera is better? a 6400, a6600 or a7iii? That's a simplest and greatest review, keep up the great work Brother, I just want to know, does this have any heating issue when shooting for long time in 4k with higher frame rates and can we shoot while charging (& via Power Bank)is this have clean HDMI Output?,
Very nice review of the A6600. But as I'm planning to use this camera on a drone, i need the camera to be able to record in 4k and output 1080 at the Hdmi port at the same time. Can it do that?
I have an old NEX-6 and 4 lenses ranging from basic kit to Zeiss. I’ve had occasional “lens not identified” errors with 2 lenses so I think it’s about time to upgrade the body. I’d consider myself a mid-level travel/family photographer for fun (not pay). I’m on the fence considering the A6600 and maybe adding the 16-55 f2.8 G or just ditching the apsc altogether and going full a7iii or upcoming replacement, and a couple lenses. I appreciate the small apsc size for travel (hiking the NaPali coast with the smaller camera was nice) however I’m a big dude and can handle a little more weight if necessary.
So the Real Time Tracking is only activated by touching the screen? What if you use your camera in Viewfinder only mode, like I do? Shooting wildlife I find I don't need the screen on.
Hey Triple070007, thanks for the comment. Real-time tracking is activated by touching the screen in the video mode. In the stills mode it can be activated by simply half-pressing the shutter and real-time tracking will start from where the focus box is located in the frame. I hope that answers your question.
If video is your priority, and video eye AF is important to you. I’d choose the a6600 hands down. All the other video features, they both have it close to even.
Hello sir , i am confused between the two cameras,i am more inclined towards the a7iii but again worried of the continuous af tracking in video mode. What do u suggest ??
I think if you wanted to shoot more vlogs then the continous eye autofocus is a distinct advantage. On the other hand the A7iii does still have continous video autofocus it just doesn't have eye-tracking in video. If you plan to shoot more still images and having a smaller size camera isn't super important than maybe the A7iii is the right choice. I always recommend trying the cameras out in store if you can. Hope that helps.
Hey Travel Addict, thanks for the question. Both cameras would be good short film cameras but the A7iii does have a slight edge if you'll be shooting in natural light because of the larger full frame sensor, if you want that shallow depth of field look I would also recommend the A7iii. But if you're taking the time to light your scene either camera should do a great job. Another thing to consider is whether you're shooting on a large set with a crew or more of a one person run-and-gun production because then weight and size also become a consideration. I hope this helped to answer your question and I'm glad you learnt a lot from the video.
Hi LostinOC, thanks for your question. According to the specifications sheet for the A6500 and the A6600 the IBIS system is the rated for the same 5-steps of image stabilisation, so looks like it's the same. Hope that was helpful.
Not having two card slots sucks. I'm looking at upgrading from a 70D to sony apsc or A7iii. Probably leaning towards the a7iii because of the card slots.

Not sure how a sigma lens will work with the video eye-AF though, I'd assume they'd work but maybe test it out in-store before you buy just to make sure.
the cat cameo means instant thumbs up. Also, good review, thanks for the info.
Really great review man, enjoyed the style very much!
Thanks for taking the time to let us know Josh Murphy. Glad you liked the video 😀.
Does this camera record gps on the picture and/video files?
excellent video. thanks for the info. I have subscribed to your channel. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hey ,great Vid!
I'm in the process of buying a Sony A7SIII and am wondering if I should get a 6600 (16-55/2,8) or an A7III(16-55/2,8) as a side cam.
I use it mainly for 4K video and also often shoot events in the evening or people directly in front of the camera
where I also want to have the surroundings on it. I need a Side-Cam for simultaniously captures.
I also do not want any difficulties to put both recordings together.
What would you (guys) recommend to me?
HI,what is the quality of FullHD video? on Sony 6500 its not great.
I want to buy a camera for weeding shoots so which one is best in both the cameras a7miii or a6600 ?
a6600 can be used for weddings.

A6600 is the reason I bought A7III.
For your further enhansment
A7iii has great problem with shutter
@@fotodrone4932 Not for me
@ateb3 people's have been reporting their shutters failing on a7iiis
Image quality is not a factor for me because I rarely see it
Awesome video! Which prime lens would you recommend getting for the a6600 for youtube and vlogging?
a6600 advantages are many: no recording limit, flip up screen, eye AF tracking in video, smaller size/weight, longer battery life, price
which of them is best for still shots
Is the 6600 good for portrait shooting outdoor and in studio?
thanks for the video! really helped me decide on which one i was up against.
Which camera would you suggest the Sony a6600 or canon m6 mark ii ? and thank you for the great review
This was a very much needed comparison and review. Nuff respect bro!!! ❤❤
Hey Richard thanks for the comment. The A7iii amd the 28-75mm is a killer combo hope you're enjoying it.
Please help me
Great question. All have their pros and cons. Do you have any existing gear that can still be utilised on the Sony or Panasonic systems?
Thanks for the no BS, wolesome, well explained and straight to facts review!!!
Thanks for taking the time to write us a lovely comment Ed. Glad you enjoyed the video, we'll try to keep them coming.
No BS and unfortunately no IBS so it's a no from me. Gh5 all the way.
I pay attention to this for a long time. Currently using A7, your evaluation video is very detailed, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the comment and for your kind words. Glad you got something out of the video.
Finally, someone pronounced α right!
Hey Ling Xiao, thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed our pronunciation 😄
24mp. Better processor, same sensor.
hii... i want to buy a mirrorless camera specially sony... but i don't have enough budget... about $750..plz suggest
I see a cute cat, I press like!
Thanks for the like Chefe!
Hi sir which camera is the best short film and UA-cam vloging use ....
Can we say A6600 better than canon M6II ?for both purpose photography and vlogging?
Hi Lothar, thanks for your comment. The A6600 and the Canon M6 II are pretty close in specs. The Canon has 8 additional megapixels, whereas the A6600 has a built-in viewfinder, sensors are a similar size & both cameras have video eye-AF for vlogging but only the A6600 has real-time tracking for stills. We havn't got our hands on the M6 II yet to review it but I suspect that other big differences would be ergonomics & battery life. Keep an eye on when the cameras are in stock so you can try them out yourself. Hope that helped a little bit.
@@TalkingPicturesbyDCW thank you so much...yes it helps....i must wait until one month later then i know everything well before i buy one of them
@@lotharjoseph5040 buy the canon or the a6400, this sony is an overpriced apsc with the AF and the battery as its few redeeeming qualities.
Hey there. I was just curious if you think the 6600 could make some decent prints at 20x30? Cheers!
Can you help me to decide? I am going for shooting commercial videos as a freelancer and can get income, which one will help me to overcome any video flaws ?
I am a person who makes a lot of car action videos. Should I stick with the sony a6400 or to move towards a6600
Aswin R B I returned my a6400 the every time unless on a tripod 100% of the time shaky footage and rolling shutter is awful unusable unless using a gimbal 100% of the time. Should wait to see what new gear Sony will announce or canon r5
@@LuisPerez-fy6up so with gimbal, the a6400 make sense right
My father is having Sony hx400 v
I want to buy a new .
Depend on your budget and whether you do photography professionally or just for hobby
Sony RX100 vii might be a better option
A6600 IBIS not an improvement, crop cameras usually aren't better than full frame.
I'm looking for a camera to do a real estate video. Does sony a6600 will be a good option? Thank you))
Hey, i am thinking to get one of those cameras. I am currently using the a6000. As i shoot a lot of pictures of my dog i am wondering which camera is better? a 6400, a6600 or a7iii? Can you recomend me one of them? I mostly take pictures with the sony 50 mm f1.8 lense and the sigma 35mm f1.2. lense (The a7iii is at the moment on sale here in Germany so its not about the price).
I Would be happy for an answer! :)
Is a6600 will be gud enough for weeding shoots ?
great info, such good and entertaining presentation
Great video. These videos really helped me to make the a6600 my first camera purchase coming from a GoPro! Loads to learn ! Love the video capabilities of this cam...
How's your experience using 6600 bro?
I like the outtakes at the end!
Glad you liked the outtakes Kevin, got to have a bit of fun right?
@@TalkingPicturesbyDCW yes yes!!!!
does A6600 keep AF face priority in 4K while connected to gimbal?
Which one is better for photography?
If video is your priority, and video eye AF is important to you. I’d choose the a6600 hands down. All the other video features, they both have it close to even.
thank . which is better in DOF ?
Hello sir , i am confused between the two cameras,i am more inclined towards the a7iii but again worried of the continuous af tracking in video mode. What do u suggest ??
I think if you wanted to shoot more vlogs then the continous eye autofocus is a distinct advantage. On the other hand the A7iii does still have continous video autofocus it just doesn't have eye-tracking in video. If you plan to shoot more still images and having a smaller size camera isn't super important than maybe the A7iii is the right choice. I always recommend trying the cameras out in store if you can. Hope that helps.
Which one is good for video A7III VS A7R4?
A7iii
I have a question: if you’re making a short film, which camera would you choose? Great content. Learned a lot from you.
Nokia 7700

is the IBIS upgraded from the a6500?
Hi LostinOC, thanks for your question. According to the specifications sheet for the A6500 and the A6600 the IBIS system is the rated for the same 5-steps of image stabilisation, so looks like it's the same. Hope that was helpful.
It's the same
it is the same piece of crap.. useless in video

APSC sony mount lens can support full frame ?
Not without dual card slot, UHS2, usb-c, ergonomics, lens selection.
Not having two card slots sucks. I'm looking at upgrading from a 70D to sony apsc or A7iii. Probably leaning towards the a7iii because of the card slots.
