The pinball machine they made for Congo is 100 times better than the movie, and you get enough of the plot by playing that you never need to see the real thing!
Congo always reminded me of a board game i used to love as a kid called "The Forbidden Bridge". You played ruby diamond smugglers who had to compete, and you could steal stuff from others if you crossed each other on the bridge. The bridge also moved and threw your characters off, and you had to swim to shore and climb back up again. It was great and somehow the surreal images of Congo made it more vivid for me when i played it.
@@Davidweedlove Actually i did not, i have not seen any of the Board James episodes, and i Googled before i wrote the comment, to see if he actually did a Forbidden Bridge episode and nothing came up.
I don't think I've ever sat through this movie, I do recall catching bits of this movie on TV/Premium Cable, we may have rented it once, and of course I saw "Nostalgia Critic's" review of it. Definitely doesn't look quite as good as "Jurassic Park" (still haven't read the book on that one), but it looks like a fun, dumb kind of Sci-Fi B-movie with plenty of action and suspense, and not to mention the top notch Stan Winston special effects. May give this one a full watch sometime so I can fully judge it. Great episode guys.
Congo was everyone's favorite movie back in kindergarten. It was never intented to be watched by anyone older than 6 i think. Back then a lot of cool shit was made for lil kids, including pretty amazing toys. I wonder what kids have these days
I remember getting so excited about the release of Congo...I believe the trailer debuted on TV during the last moments of Super Bowl XXIX - I remember commenting on it at school the next day how it was going to be so epic, like Jurassic Park in the jungle. While it never lived up to those expectations, I still enjoy it for what it was. I saw it multiple times, even got into the terrible Sega Saturn game. I still hum the "Spirit of Africa" theme from the soundtrack these days...
The soundtrack is honestly one of my favourite ever from a film -- in fact now that you mention Jurassic Park, the sequel Lost World's soundtrack has traces of the Spirit of Africa.
@@Sawrattan Nice! I'm going to have to go back and listen to Lose World and make the comparisons. Also randomly inspired to rewatch Congo, its actually been awhile now for me...
Han Solo Denny's Menu. Had special meals, including some pretty good cheesy tatertot things. Several cups of helmets/chewbacca head or millennium falcon. Trading cards. They went pretty full tilt.
Tim Curry always lifts turds up to a certain extend. He's also great in Oscar (with Stallone), and has one of the best roles in Loaded Weapon 1 (VVVViiiildernezz Girllzzzz!!)
I remember two things from this movie: winston zedmore being a cool english adventurer and tim curry, especially the bit with delroy lindo "Mr Hamolka, stop eating my seaseme cake.
The CD Congo game was actually a point and click adventure. I still have my disk but haven't played it since elementary school, so no idea how it holds up. I remember enjoying it though.
So for the set of Rental Reviews, what do they do? It looks like the Nerd’s basement, but there’s no way that they would go through the effort to rearrange the room and put all the movies on the shelf... would they?

It was great and somehow the surreal images of Congo made it more vivid for me when i played it.
You saw the Board James episode
@@Davidweedlove Actually i did not, i have not seen any of the Board James episodes, and i Googled before i wrote the comment, to see if he actually did a Forbidden Bridge episode and nothing came up.
Loved that game as a kid
I don't think I've ever sat through this movie, I do recall catching bits of this movie on TV/Premium Cable, we may have rented it once, and of course I saw "Nostalgia Critic's" review of it. Definitely doesn't look quite as good as "Jurassic Park" (still haven't read the book on that one), but it looks like a fun, dumb kind of Sci-Fi B-movie with plenty of action and suspense, and not to mention the top notch Stan Winston special effects. May give this one a full watch sometime so I can fully judge it. Great episode guys.
Watch the Tim curry death scene at half speed. Trust me. 19:20
Oh God rofl
Yeeeeeaaah a few too many frames left in there
According to IMDB the 727 pilot was played by Jimmy Buffet … the singer…. Margaritaville
Congo was everyone's favorite movie back in kindergarten. It was never intented to be watched by anyone older than 6 i think. Back then a lot of cool shit was made for lil kids, including pretty amazing toys. I wonder what kids have these days
BRING BACK RENTAL REVIEWS PLEASE
They didn't even mention the eyeball! That's all I remember about Congo
I really hate the shitty sega saturn game based on this movie
Han Solo Denny's Menu. Had special meals, including some pretty good cheesy tatertot things. Several cups of helmets/chewbacca head or millennium falcon. Trading cards. They went pretty full tilt.
Tim Curry always lifts turds up to a certain extend.
He's also great in Oscar (with Stallone), and has one of the best roles in Loaded Weapon 1 (VVVViiiildernezz Girllzzzz!!)
I love Loaded Weapon 1.
@@justysilverman Me too, it's probably my favorite of the 90s spoofs, Hot Shots 2 is a close second.

oh, i love that movie too.
it should get a Review here sometime.
Congo was one of my favorite movies as a kid, I still think it's an amazingly entertaining movie filled with great details.
Starring Bruce Campbell, Tim Curry, Ernie Hudson and Joe Don Baker as well

My uncle was a translator for Congo. I remember seeing it at a drive thru.
Did it happen to be at a.....Taco Bell?
lol that edit on the hot air balloon, priceless
I remember two things from this movie:
winston zedmore being a cool english adventurer and
tim curry, especially the bit with delroy lindo "Mr Hamolka, stop eating my seaseme cake.
I got a double-feature book that included both Congo and Jurassic Park so I read them, and was pumped for the Congo film. Big disappointment.
Lol, I had the same book
@@3rdalbum Is the book good
Never a movie based on book will ever surpass the book
I find that Jurassic Park II is really the King Kong story told again in its own way.
No one cares ur opinion of anything.
The CD Congo game was actually a point and click adventure. I still have my disk but haven't played it since elementary school, so no idea how it holds up. I remember enjoying it though.

So for the set of Rental Reviews, what do they do? It looks like the Nerd’s basement, but there’s no way that they would go through the effort to rearrange the room and put all the movies on the shelf... would they?
I honestly fell out of interest with these types of videos, but I decided to give this one a shot and I'm glad that I did because I was generally entertained the whole time watching.
