      I did the same thing. I got mine the other day and when I was updating the ktuner on my computer the screen went black and was unresponsive didn't want to do anything. I got in contact with ktuner and they told me to send it back to them.. I was so bummed out. I hope to get it back in working conditions next week so I can finally flash the tsp stage 1 tune.

      @@mrcivicsi20good luck! Mines still working great, I just set the tune and then never looked back. The shift points feel godly compared to stock. I went back for a week and thought I broke the car because of how jerky the original shift points were. Only downside is the 93 gas but it’s been worth it

    • @mrcivicsi20

      @Warr1895 yeah I have put 93 since I bought the car. So I'm cool with that. But I can't wait to get it back and flash it. What tune are you using? Tsp stage 1?

    • @Warr1895

      @@mrcivicsi20it’s been so long I cannot remember what one I want with. If TSP 1 has where you can manually switch the the different boost amounts I ended up not liking that one. Since it reset every time you turned off the car. I ended up just doing the preloaded one that changed the PSI to 18. So it was the most aggressive one. Makes the world of difference 😂 it was keeping up or beating my 2017 v6 mustang (but with twice the mpg) so I sold the stang 😂

    I love Cameron’s videos but I’ll be honest it’s misleading when people say KTuner voids your warranty immediately after flashing. I have friends in a XGenz Civic group running FBO + e85 & PRL Big Turbo and they still get warranty work at Honda. The thing Cameron didn’t mention is that you can modify your car any way you want and Honda has to prove that your after market part is what caused the problem or issue for your warranty to be voided.

    I did the same and did a cold air intake, then the Ktuner with TSP stage 1 the following day. It is still a bit chilly where I live, and I can totally see getting an upgraded intercooler. My experiences so far, is that I mostly roll with MAP 2, unless I am on a slower road that has a lot of twists and turns. Then I switch to MAP 1 because the stock all-season tires get overwhelmed. When I am on the interstate and want to really haul the goods, I put her on MAP 3 and start handing out ass whoopins! I do run 93 octane with 10% ethanol and she loves it! I get very LOW knock control readings with the 93. All in all, it has been the greatest car I have ever owned, blending performance, economy, and practicality. I have put almost 4,000 miles on the car in 40 days, and it is at 15,000 miles now. I have averaged 30 mpg for the whole duration of my command. I have seen over 51 mpg after the tune on MAP 1, with the cruise set at 55 mph and shifting at no more than 2500 rpm & feathering the gas. It is truly remarkable. I am currently working on upgrading the audio and that in itself will be pricey to do it right. It will definitely be challenging, but so worth it, as I am an audiophile of sorts. There's some good info about the premium audio on the GENx forum! Anyway, your videos are awesome, keep it going - I will be waiting!

    2006 RSX here, 180 000km with original clutch, not always beaten tho (owned the car for 10 000km and previous owner didn't beat it as far as I know). Still shifts like a dream and never slips. Honda makes good clutches, I would not be worried if I were you. And changing a clutch is pocket change compared to all the fun beating a car can provide lol.

  • @brandonburns817

    It’s a total different car with the tune. I’ve had clutch slippage problem in 4th and 5th gear. I’ve noticed it most when I try to give too much power at lower rpm’s. Looks like an ACT clutch is in my near future 😜. I had the 20psi problem for a bit. I ended re-downloading the tune again and it seemed to fix the issue (weird). You hit the nail on the head with the heat stroke on these cars. I have the Mishimoto intercooler already. My next purchase is going to be the Koyorad radiator. Summer is coming and we have to keep are cars as cool as possible. Love the vid man, great info. Can’t wait for the next.

    I work at a Honda in Orange County and we can tell when someone flashed their car.their is a service bulletin for type r specifically will not have their engine replaced when they blow up due to tuning. Common problems for si are rough idle and transmission issues when tuned, But there is hope for si owners most dealerships don’t care about tuning most of the times when it comes to sis most service advicers and managers don’t know what tuning is and most first major issues that come with tuning will be covered. The vehicles that tend to have their vehicle black listed “void warranty” happens when people come in constantly for major mechanical problems that are obviously modded. The technicians will get annoyed of working on the same car and dig deeper on why things keep break I.e checking the computer to see if it’s been flashed.

    And also you can run a gallon of e85 with a full tank of gas if you’re like on 91 octane that gets you to 93 octane and if you’re on 93 octane that’ll get to 95 octane plus your fuel becomes E15 blend and you’ll get just a little colder mixture

I have my TypeR paid off and it’s nice not to have a car payment and I am debating to take the chance!! If i do do modifications to it I think I would get inter cooler, intake , tune and some sort of exhaust mod! I don’t think I would do anything more than those boltons! I always appreciate your insightful videos and I appreciate how you say it like it is!! ! Your channel is one of my favorite out of all of them car related channels I watch! Good solid video bro! I have plenty of fun driving my 2020 Si completely STOCK! yes I would love a tune and FMIC CAI and exhaust, etc. in time maybe. Still, hit 136mph on stock in no time flat haha love the Si and everything about it is nice. I used to get bad rev hang, but now, either I don’t notice it as much, or I’ve perfected my shifting to limit the amount of rev hang and I honestly can’t remember the last time I had rev hang on it. Think it’s all about how you drive and shifting points. But it was worse and now rev hang is better if not virtually completely gone, somehow lol

    Honda can tell if your car has been flashed. We did a specific flash reset to all the modules on the car after returning back to stock and the dealership found out it was flashed. The no lift shift has lead to people breaking 3rd and 4th gears on the transmissions.

  • @connermt74
    @connermt74 4 роки тому +2

    It doesn’t ‘void your warranty’. It voids the warranty of any particular part(s) directly impacted by the tune. A tune won’t void your warranty on you power window for example (sounds silly to say but many don’t understand that). And the dealer has to prove/provide that the tune causes the part(s) failure (usually a because-I-said is enough but the mfg’er has final say).
    What’s the benefit of this vs. a Hondata tune that’s supported by dealers? And does a higher PSI cause clutch slippage as reported by some?

  • @leleedler
    @leleedler 3 роки тому +2

    The reason it happens is because your revs fall below they're destined speed for the next year before you can shift them and you are used to the opposite. A slight tap to the the throttle may help if you wanna take your time shifting.

    This video puts a lot introspective. I didn't account for the extra wear and tear on the components of my car by putting the K-Tuner on. Even worse, didn't realize it was going to void my warranty and I have the extended warranty put in my payments. So I'm paying that extra money for nothing now? And I have a factory recall that I have to get fixed and I'm afraid now they won't fix it because I avoided my warranty by buying this 😢

    I plan on buying a 2020 Si in October and tbh the best results are from people who have the car around 250-260 WHP. That's simply only a slight tune and some bolt-ons. Not a whole lot of stress on the internals. There are people on Honda Forums that push their engine past 320 and blow rods. The point of this car is to be fun. practical daily anyways or a mountain carving car.. at least to me lol.

    Not a Honda tech, but a Ford tech. We just denied warranty on a Focus ST because after digging a bit the drive cyle counter on the car was at 3, which shows 3 ingnition cyles since the PCM was flashed. Meaning they messed something up and flashed it to stock to have us look at it. (I wasn't the one assigned to the job so I don't know the details) So yes the dealer can tell when you flash your PCM. I imagine Honda's dealer scanner can access that same info. Just a heads up guys!

    1:42 To answer your question as to why some people buy it elsewhere instead of from 2 step performance...i bought my ktuner from ebay instead of 2 step performance because there was a 15% discount code from ebay during that time (wish ebay would do these coupons again). The seller puts it up as new at the price of $425, with an "offer" option. So I offered the price at $400, then plus the 15% off discount code. So I only paid $340 for a Ktuner v1.2. I was ok with the base maps that came with it and didn't need the TSP tune. I've been using the dual 21 psi since then, nothing fancy.

    The people who say their clutch is slipping at low milage are the ones who are flooring it below 3000 rpm or flooring it in 5th and 6th gear. I don’t necessarily think the friction material has worn down on their clutch, but they have glazed the surface of the material. After that happens it just isn’t grabbing with that glazed surface.
    If your clutch does end up starting to slip, i’d recommend riding the clutch back and forth in your driveway or a parking lot and getting some normal friction and heat on the material. That may help to resurface it and start grabbing again. If it is cooked bad, it may be toast and done for good.
    A clutch should last more than 100k miles unless it is abused badly. If you keep going with power mods on the car, i think you will need an aftermarket clutch sooner than later, because the stock one will struggle with all that torque.

    Great informational video but it seems like your thing is really drag racing.. Maybe get yourself a RWD car with tons of power instead (with an LSD 100%). This is a coming from a guy who went from 99 Cobra -> 2004 Terminator Cobra -> 17 GT Perf Package (as you can tell I started drag racing and roll racing) -> C7 Corvette (Oh my GOD do NOT get the automatic it's HORRIBLE, GIANT mistake haha) -> K20 Supercharged MR2 Spyder -> 2019 Civic Si -> 2020 Civic Type R (you can see the transition from drag racing to cornering start around there haha). These cars are more suited for Touge my man (Canyon Carving) not really even worth it to be spending boat loads to make them mad quick on a straight line but you already know that, you're a smart guy. Either keep the car and suit it up for the track orrrrr get rid of her and get yourself a Camaro or a Mustang or somethin, not a Type R imo (why even bother with FWD anymore?) unless you're looking to autocross it or do some Canyon Carving or some shit. Once again, great video! My recommendation would be a 2014 Mustang GT with a live axle and slap a giant TVS supercharger on it and call it a day IF you don't care about visiting the gas station everyday. The best part of my SI and Type R is that I'm not visiting the gas station every single day after just a few pulls like I did for YEARS. That's another thing that you'll soon really REALLY regret if you get yourself a big boy V8 (unless you got deep pockets and you just don't care.. or live in LA because even if you do $4 a gallon ughhhhh 😢).

      Wow, thank you very much for the detailed comment. I appreciate that. That is a very cool ownership of cars you've had! I have been considering lots of things, especially the C7 Corvette, and yes, obviously the 7-speed manual. Right before I bought this car, I had a 2013 Civic Si and C5 Corvette. Unfortunately, the vette was a convertible and although it was still a stick, I felt.. wrong in a convertible. It was not for me. I have plans for this car, and won't have it forever. I have my sights on some of the new models that are supposed to be launching summer 2021, such as the next gen WRX STI, BRZ/GR86, Challenger, Supra (ONLY IF THEY BRING BACK A MANUAL GEARBOX), and of course I have to consider the 11th Gen Civics. Once I start seeing the premieres of these vehicles with the specs, I'll make my decision.
      As of right now, though, there is a community of 10th gen Civic owners DYING for a consistent content creator on UA-cam, and I feel I have a duty now. I am really enjoying messing around with this car, and people who own them seem to enjoy it too. So right now, my business mindset is, if I can keep making enough money to pay for all my mods and also stash some away for a project in the near future, I think I'm in a good spot as a small UA-camr just starting out.
      All that being said, trust me, I am always looking at cars to see what I could get into. There are tons of relatively affordable, reliable V8s I could buy right now from around $23-$30k, but I assess probably 90% of my viewers right now are 10th Gen Civic owners. If I leave them now with only having half-ass built a car, I don't think many of them will follow me onto my next car series. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks

      @@Camhill182 Speaking of Convertibles, my 99 Cobra was one so I know exactly how you felt. Aside from the cowl shake and basic OCD of reduced rigidity, just the idea of it being convertible made it less "hard" you know haha. Less street cred 😂 Happy you mentioned the BRZ/86 platform because I was going to recommend that too! We supercharged my buddies 86 to 300 WHP and man she was a great package for under 35k total including the car which he got new. It's still running strong on stock internals after 150k miles. Def let's wait and see if Suburu actually does something with the next gen STi and finally upgrades the darn thing and if so that seems like a great option as well! I think you got it all figured out man... This is a great car as you know and you should for sure keep making content for us 10 gen owners to really get your channel out there (you'll have no problems here bud, you'll be at 100k no time with your content). By then that youtube $$$ will start coming in so you'll have more leg room to get whatever project you want and the supporting mods for it. Would be great to see a start -> finish build on this channel on any car you get in the future. I like your mindset, do as you planned, trust yourself, you'll make it 👍.

  • @sdalexander8505

    The jolt you’re experiencing is because the revs dropped past where the rev match is at before the clutch fully engaged the flywheel. When that happens, the engine has to increase RPM to get back to where the gear speed matches. This lurches you forward. The reason the clutch is so inconsistent in this car is due to the Clutch Delay Valve in the slave cylinder. That in combination with the dual mass flywheel leads to inconsistent shifting. It feels different if it’s cold in the morning, it feels different if it’s hot and your A/C is on, it feels different when the transmission gets up to temp. Your 9th gen also had a CDV in the slave, but the clutch setup was more forgiving.

    • @sdalexander8505
      @sdalexander8505 4 роки тому +1

      You can remove the CDV, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are a rev matching pro. It is there to reduce drivetrain shock if mistakes are made. There are a few threads on the CivicX forums that go into detail with this. Of course the people who have done it say it is the best thing ever. They usually recommend replacing the clutch line with a braided stainless line from PRL as well.

I know these cars are meant to be tuned as long as it's not a crazy aggressive tune if your mainly on stock parts which I am. But my concern has always been reliability, I know when you tune any car your putting more wear on all the components which is understandable. I would probably just use the lower map tunes that give me a little more boost and throttle response but won't go too crazy. Let me know if you or anyone can maybe help me feel more comfortable again in buying ktuner.

    Hey everyone! From my understanding, dealerships are able to find out if you tuned your car or not if they use their scan tool. This is how they determine whether or not they’ll warranty your vehicle in case something happens. They’re able to see what tuner/program you use as well as the date/time you tuned the vehicle
