Thank you for making this. I've had my FC1 since Nov. of 2018 and I love it. Currently have the PRL Cobra (street), no flash or tune, stock clutch and have it lowered on the Swift Spec R lowering springs, on Konig Dekagrams and a 3" gReddy DD-R exhaust system that sounds like pure ricey magic. I also have the only Skunk2 part I've been able to find being their universal weighted shift knob lol. This is the 3rd Si I have owned and while it's not my favorite, as that spot is reserved for my beloved and bereaved EG, it is by far the most comfortable while still being fun version of the Si to date. This isn't really modding related, but there is a huge problem with the A/C systems in this generation. I've already had to replace the evaporator and compressor in just 35K miles. Its one of those things where i was used to driving the old beat and gutted Si's of old and finally had a car with proper A/C just to have it take two separate dumps on me. A lil frustrating when you live in SoCal where its hot all year lol. Otherwise my next mod is going to be a clutch/FP DP and Intercooler combo & I think I'm going to go with KTuner due to its accessibility. They have some heat soak and the stock intercoolers are a bit tiny to be all that effective. Looking at that gReddy. Anyone pick up the gReddy intercooler and have some feedback on its performance vs. the PRL/Mishi or if MAP makes their own?
From what I know the greddy intercooler uses a tube and fin type of design and has two sizes meanwhile all the other ones you named use bar and plate design and have one standard size. Each design have their own pro and con so it really depends on what you plan on using your car, be it drag racing, tracking, or just plain street driving.
Yes! I had replaced my Ac compressor at 6k miles. I realize my ac wasn’t working….They told me they had a version 2 because version 1 had issues with the heat somthing like that. They should make it as recall smh

Great video for me, was curious about what were the vitals of making sure this engine would be good and the drive train. And this answered all my questions!
Yeah I wouldn’t really invest a lot of money into the 1.5t, sure it’s a fun platform for a ktuner and intake setup but you’re looking at about 5k for 350whp. And that’s the most it can do on stock fueling. My speed3 can hit 330 on stock turbo lol.
They need to make a k24 Civic type-RS AWD Hatch. I don't like the 4-door hatch on their Type R. 4-door would be better for awd since it's a longer wheelbase front to back.
With a simple flash I can promise you the reliability will not drop. There are bad batches out there but for the most part it's VERY reliable. I haven't had any issues what so ever and I've been flashed and modded and drive very aggressive for 3 years.
A 8-9. Like they said factory clutch might go out on you, but other than that anything else will most likely be related to neglect or complete abuse. If you maintain and take good care of the car you’ll be great though
Idk when it happened but I just checked prices on these last week and I was seeing used 18/19 models with over 10k miles going for $29k. At that point a used or even new Veloster N is looking much better

To add to the cons list, the 1.5 also has oil consumption issues especially when modified, and the cam caps have issues coming loose between the 350-400 horse mark and destroying the head, and in some cases destroying it to the point where it drops a valve

I loved my 2018 but after 25k miles (first car brand new off the lot), it started burning a quart of oil in between changes. I find that unacceptable for new cars, especially Hondas. Still love Honda, picked up an 8th gen SI and I've been having a bunch of fun with that 8k redline.
I built and worked on Hondas for like 8-10 years. Every single one of them burned oil so I would say it’s very on brand.
Two doors are the only way to go!
The con for the transmission actually impresses me more than it disappoints.
These Si's have so much power potential being boosted, its insane. My Si with just an OTS tune, intake and intercooler rips!
We made over 550hp on the stock block!
@@maperformance Thats just crazy..
I honestly like the 1.5 it's quite reliable even when modded
Love Chris Lowpes Si. Such a great build and good looking car.
I bought a 2020 Honda Civic si n I burned the clutch twice thanks for this video for confirming stock clutch is trash get rid of it
Awesome video! Appreciate you using my footage!
We appreciate your great content! Keep making it!
@@maperformance thank you!!

Happy owner of 2018 honda Si coupe. Thanks Maperformance got some parts from them
Right on!
I just bought a 10th gen stock civic 6500 not abused stock clutch 114000 turbo is solid. Its a friendly buy I need some to talk to about this. It's silly.
Would definitely like to hear about the Type R since you guys have that as a shop project too.
Check this out! ua-cam.com/video/LomLfWnYvSw/v-deo.html
Love the video,I to have the 2020 Honda SI coupe,I’ve done no mods, wish I could

@@Highlander1432 haterrrr 🔊🔊
Chris lowpes build was my favourite with his 10th gen I have the same car and bought all the same mods
I have watched this video like twelve times. Love your vids, keep up the great work!
I looooooove my 10th gen and how cheap the parts are for good quality.
What have you done to your ride if you don’t mind me asking?
Mishimoto short ram intake (for now)
Perrin front mount strut brace
Invidia Gemini exhaust
Advan tires
Acuity shifter bushings
Mishimoto intercooler/(haven’t installed yet) charge pipping
Acuity short throw shifter ( waiting for this to arrive.)
Nothing for this car is cheap
Great video. Would like to see GTI or Focus ST. See a lot of those on the street and they seem to rival the Si so it would be cool to learn about those cars in particular.
Noted!
I got a 2020 Si, FBO, flex fuel 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻 still on stock clutch 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
same here!
How’s the clutch treating you after going fbo?
What about all the issues with head gasket failures? I personally haven't had any issues. Then again I'm also stock. I've just noticed on the Facebook pages lots of guys having issues with the head gasket once they start making over the 250 mark, or even less.
2017 Civic Si on 2.5 Ktuner Flex Fuel runs like a champ! 😈
I know this video was a year ago but right now they are going for at least 35000 because the dealerships are overcharging by 5k at least before other surcharges and taxes. so close to 40k here in NW Ohio. I don't consider that affordable anymore. Have to look for used ones and get them from private sellers.
Appreciate yall!
I had a downpipe, Intake, intercooler making 270whp/294torque through a etune from pherable then dyno’d. Stock clutch lasted all the way to my 70k. Tuned since 15k with the mapperformance stage one. Then stage 2 then with the intake and downpipe from 30-45k. Clutch never slipped and I drove it hard, but never dropped the clutch, and always rev matched. I’m currently in the RCF platform which is a completely different animal after I got a much better job. Right out of college though I don’t think there’s much that beats a 10th gen si for that price point. I loved the community the most
What year was your si? Crazy your clutch survived almost 300wtq
@@ValkenDnB 2017 first year . Bought it in 2019 from an auction with 11k miles for 20k. I work in finance and a dealer picked it up for me.
@@kaleidoscope8914 nice. Did you ever WOT before 3:5k rpm when you were making 300wtq or were you aggressive with it and launched your car and all that?
@@ValkenDnB never launched, and I mostly did 3rd or 4th gear pulls for races, but even when I did race I never would never beat on it or no clutch or anything besides break boosting. I also changed the tranny oil every 25k to keep shifts smoother acuity stage 1 kit. Shift knob, bushings, pin and adapter
I’m 90% sure it’s the tune that matters, MAperformance tune is cool for stock, but they’re torque maps hits everything low which isn’t good for roll racing but fun for dailying. But pherable tune builds boost from 3krpms to 5.5k building to 28psi around 5200 then dropping to about 25 at 5.5 which is what helps the clutch not just get smacked with torque and gives it time to build ip
Love the vid, although the part u explained that upgrading the diff or whatever was is must if u want to push 450, I feel like with the money you're spending on those power gains you should just save up for the type-r, unless they have the same diff/trains then correct me if im wrong lmao
Love my girl! Pissed that Honda went strictly 4 door. I will be keeping her as a daily and looking for a 370!
I got the 10th gen Civic sport putting out 250 hp with no turbo and the automatic transmission has been modified to handle the horsepow the 10th gen Civic sports has the 2.0 L K20
You guys are my go-to to buy parts when I’m buying new. Great video!
Guillermo, i have a 2018 Si coupe & all the exhaust piping from the turbo to the tips are alllll Maperformance. So is my intake & love everything about them. Great quality stuff by Maperformance
Used with a lot of miles maybe find for that price. That's MSRP you listed. Add 10k to that.
Dudes with big red beards talking about my car. Love maperformance
Great video, I have a 10th Gen definitely will be modifying my car soon.
Go for it!
I just subscribed, this will be my go to video for my 2020 Si "carbon shooter" thanks guys and keep it up.
I'll be back
are you guys possibly going to ever develop any performance uprgrades for the na 2.0 for the 10th gens?
I LOVE my 10th gen
Especially on D2s 😎
The more I read about these cars, the more I want to get one!
You guys should make stuff for the Sport 2.0L cars
Not much to do besides RV6 downpipe, ktuner, and intake.
@@ValkenDnB any intakes you'd recommend
@@hermes5286 To be honest, any of them are fine if you're chasing induction sound. If you're not, a simple drop in filter from AEM or K&N will probably produce better results. If you don't have an issue voiding warranty, a Ktuner is the best bang for buck.
Bought mine brand new in 2018, I love it, doubt I’ll ever sell it
We got a lifer! 🙌🏻
Lmao that’s how I feel I wanna
Mod it when it’s paid off
im built engine and ppg trans while paying offf🤟🤟🤟
Thanks for the informative video. Please do a similar one for the 11th gen Civic SI

@@ALASBEATZ Honda recently put out a recall on the entire ac systems. I think it was something like 10 year unlimited mile I got a piece of paper in the mail like a month ago about it.
@@jacobbrown2289 I also got that.. good on them for reconizing it
IVE BEEN WAITING ON THIS DEMON TIME GUYS
Great video for me, was curious about what were the vitals of making sure this engine would be good and the drive train. And this answered all my questions!
We try to be as comprehensive as possible for viewers like you!
Your "speed3" is gonna torque steer into a fucking ditch
@@Highlander1432 nah torque steer doesn't really happen till like 400+
Hey my blue 10thgen Civic looks good 🤤🤤🤤
Thank you guys, got one recently and this is very well done
I have a 2017 Coupe. I'm in low earth orbit on the outer belt heading to work and I still get 40 mpg highway.
What about the Sport sedan? I try finding parts for mine but it always shows me Si and Type R parts -_-
Love the Jordan Cox clips.
They need to make a k24 Civic type-RS AWD Hatch. I don't like the 4-door hatch on their Type R. 4-door would be better for awd since it's a longer wheelbase front to back.
On the scale of 1-10 how reliable would you guys say these cars are on a simple flash tune with bolt ons?
With a simple flash I can promise you the reliability will not drop. There are bad batches out there but for the most part it's VERY reliable. I haven't had any issues what so ever and I've been flashed and modded and drive very aggressive for 3 years.
A 8-9. Like they said factory clutch might go out on you, but other than that anything else will most likely be related to neglect or complete abuse. If you maintain and take good care of the car you’ll be great though
Any car does immediately with mods...
Love the video! when are you guys going to work on an 11th gen Si? 👀👀👀
We should be getting one here soon!
Idk when it happened but I just checked prices on these last week and I was seeing used 18/19 models with over 10k miles going for $29k. At that point a used or even new Veloster N is looking much better
I bought mine new in 2018 for $25k. It’s crazy they are going for more than I bought it for lol.
Chip shortage+ lack of new dealer inventory=High prices in used car market.
Best time to sell
How about a video on the sport touring.. you know us guys who couldn't afford the SI🤔
Justice for @b00sted_brian
I have fixed this with a link to his channel in the description! Thank you for bringing this to my attention!
picking up an Si once i get these next two checks 🤘🏼
Very trusted compamy. Maperformance
But I don't have a Civic....although I'm looking at that 11th gen...but only an EX/Touring trim. Time to downsize from my Fusion I think...I miss my compact cars.
Dude I'm not a Ford fan at all....but those Fusions don't never end up in car repair shops. So I would keep it
can't wait for the 2022 Si! Great vid guys!
2023 si
9th Gen is common on the race track, but I've yet to enounter a 10th Si. Sucks cause I'm itching to pit my base 10th 6MT Civic against the 1 trick poney.
Got to see you guys run your shop car at rockfalls. Very cool
To add to the cons list, the 1.5 also has oil consumption issues especially when modified, and the cam caps have issues coming loose between the 350-400 horse mark and destroying the head, and in some cases destroying it to the point where it drops a valve
Nonsense
Those aren't cons...those are you pushing the car past its limits there is a difference
So a video on gtr does little views but the civic si does way more lol it even happens on other car channels it's nuts.
More accessible platform means more people can enjoy it! Not everyone can own a GTR but almost anyone can afford a Civic Si!
@@maperformance true one thing I noticed thou soooooo many people own a scatpack and those videos don't do too well either maybe they don't need the power also don't know why those cars are everywhere now lol
It's pretty easy blow up this engine. The parts are less beefy.
Not in our experience! We had to throw a ton of nitrous and boost at it before it blew up!
Mine basically stock running about 80 mph it'll get between 35 to 40 mpg.
Wish my 10th Gen Si had the 2.0t 🤕
@49ers Empire k24 is nice too
all this info is great. I need new injectors after flex fuel and my clutch slipped after a year of stage 1. cant wait to see solutions soon great video.
5:05 ...or if you actually try to be reasonably efficient, between 40-45mpg. Hypermiling, just over 50 without any mods.
Might be a bit late but I’d like to see something out there for the 2.0L Lx-p civic that’s out there
Without the type R front axle I don't think I would want to see more than 280 on the car if I get it. Only have a 10th gen but touring. Sharing a car with my wife. In the last 6 month's she drove the car like 3 times but I am still stuck with this cvt.
Lol I wanted the SI but the wifey can’t drive manual so I had to get 2.0 sport civic lol
Do the GTI!!
Trying to tell me about 10th gen civics and here I am trying you figure out how you cloned Daelen
Hey if it can get 250 WHP, I think the Civics would surpass loads of vehicles with its power to weight ratio.
very true!
Awesome video can you guys do this with the 86, type r or wrx/sti
We have! Just check out our playlist for our So You Want To Modify series!
How much horsepower can the stock 1.5t handle?
Man I just wish you could do a modded FC2 or a engine swap in it (xgen)sport
Hey guys great video. I have full bolt on's on my 2018 Si. Full Maperformance piping underneath...Maperformance CAI...Mishimoto intercooler...Hondata +9 tune...tuned by Alex Pagan out of Tulsa Oklahoma (231hp & 266tq at the wheels). My car just got 50.6mpg. But i do drive it easy tho. I believe it's due to power to weight ratio. So it is possible.
should just buy a phearable tune and run Ktuner the hondatas are only good for the type R. i have a K tuner and im running phearable tune with 3 MAPs map 2 gets me 250hp i also have full bolt ons
Three out of my 5 friends who've run that blew motors. & where did you get that Hondata is only good for type Rs? Never heard that before in my life. & im probably older than you too. Lol
That's awesome, and an insane MPG to boot!
@@jimjenkins3928 No my guy. 275 hp is perfectly fine for the Si block as a DAILY. its the sport HB blocks that are made of glass. none of your homies blew their engines at 250hp or even 275hp on the Si blocks. thats a damn lie
