Just back from Budapest and I had so much fun 😊 The people, the culture, the food (especially sweet stuff) are all amazing 🤩 I'm just sorry I didn't have more time there but hopefully I'll go back 😀

Hi, I’m just back in UK after going to Budapest for a few days. I just wanted to say köszönet for your videos and your kind answer to a question I posted. I thought I would put in a couple of other recommendations for interesting things 1. Magyar Zene Haza - interesting music museum in a stunning modern building, and… 2. my absolute favourite “off the beaten track” place. Ecseri flea market.
Glad to hear you had a good time, and also went to some of the less frequented places! The House of Music is also one of my favorite new additions to the cities attractions :) And Ecseri is definately an off the beaten track place if someone wants a unique adventure, happy to hear you took the time to visit it 😀
Hello Stuffed cabbage. 😎
My wife and I will be visiting in October of 2023 on a Viking cruise. Both of my parents were Hungarian and unfortunately, they didn't teach me any of the language. I can't wait to eat the food and soak up the culture. BTW - your English is very good! Thanks for your very informative videos.
Thanks for the practical videos! I will travel there and wanna explore something more closer to locals lifestyle instead of typical tourist attractions. And this is really what I want to see, really helps!❤
Thanks 😊 cycling is indeed great but my opinion is that it's limited to only certain parts of the city. There is still a long way to go in making the inner city bike friendly to be honest.
I was there very long time ago but people still say a lot of praise about the place 😊 the only downside is that it's pretty far from the center, so if you wish to visit its best to book a table to be sure before taking the journey 😊
I highly recommend either go up the Gellért hill or the Buda castle. But it is worth just walking around in downtown starting from the Parliament towards the party district. Have a video about that as well 🙂
The Castle is more like a district. Of course there are places that close for the night, but spots where you can view the city from are freely accessible :) It's a pleasant area to explore even in the evening :)
This was a very informative video. We’re planning on touring a number of cities this fall. How many days do you recommend are needed for Budapes of the sites on this video? Thank you.
Hey there! Most people spend around 3 full days in Budapest and I would say thats enough to get a great taste of the city and enjoy a lot of things. Adding a day or 2 can help with more experiences that may also include a daytrip to nearby town of Szentendre for example 😊
Generally the higher grounds are good, like Castle district with Fisherman's bastion or in front of the Palace, or Gellért hill, Philosophers garden etc. I mostly like the sunrise because you look towards Pest and that's where the sun is rising from. But the sunset is also nice from these places even if you aren't looking into the sunsets direction but again to Pest, however the clouds and the sky turn to beautiful colors and the city starts to light up, it's gorgeous 😊 alternatively on the Danube promenade on Pest side when you look towards the castle district during sunset, that can also be a picturesque view 😊
There are companies who specialise in stag parties, perhaps they can help with getting one organized :) Just a note as a local: having fun is good, but don't turn into raging party animals on the street and in the bars, unfortunately many bars banned stag party groups due to their behaviour. Whatever you do, have fun, enjoy the city, but be respectful :)
To be honest, winter isn't super different these days (thanks climate change). Of course it's colder, there may be rain more often (snow less), but besides the christmas markets there isn't much to do that's specific to winter. I personally find it nice to just walk in the city with the decorations and lights up, have a mulled wine on the street to warm up and enjoy the streets like that :)
Thank you. I think we will be okay with the weather. I go on a girls trip every January. The last two trips were in Poland and Czechia and it was cold, but totally manageable. I am excited to explore Budapest. @@StuffedCabbageAdventures

Late October and early November the autumn time is in full effect. It can rain from time to time, then a rare few hours of sunshine may cook you. So plan with some layers to be able to adjust during the day as the weather heats and cools off. 😊
Hey there! March is the beginning of Spring here, it's a nice time, not too warm but not super cold 😊 outdoor places won't be open yet, but there will definately still be nightlife in the city center. Just note that March 15th is a national Holiday when most places are not open or only have limited service 😉
Hi :) thermal baths are open all year long as all of them have inside areas as well. The air ballon not sure, it depends mostly on the weather conditions, for example if it is too windy it usally does not operate.
Hey there! Stuffed Cabbage or Töltött Káposzta is a hungarian dish, which I also enjoy 😊 but many neighbouring countries also have their versions of stuffed cabbage, or utilise cabbage in their cuisine. So I chose the name symbolising not only Hungary, but other cultures as well, and to have Adventures exploring and experiencing more from all kinds of cultures :)
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures ahhh well thank you for the explanation! Im really enjoying your video's. I still think the "Hot Hungarian" would work well! ☺️
thank you for the video. in winter if it is not snowing between Christmas and new year (does it or not past years?) or are there mountains to travel to ,to see snow fall?
Hey there. While we had some nice snow in the past week, it is not really common in the country in the past few years, or when it snows it quickly melts. We don't have high mountains either, but the High Tatras in Slovakia / Poland are close and have some nice places, or the mountains of Austria are also accessible from Hungary 😊
Hey there! I hope you'll have a great time when you visit! Generally what I would say is to look for places and book in advance as a lot of the nice restaurants/bars/party places can get full easily. I will be honest I only say this because of some comments I read online, I personally spend New Years eves in house parties with friends and don't go to bars, but I hear the streets are lively on new years :)
There are multiple large train stations (Nyugati, Keleti, Déli) but luckily all of them have good connection to Subway and other public transport systems. Using Google Maps helps a lot as its reliable, or alternatively there is the Budapest Go app where you can also buy digital tickets for the public transport beside planning the directions :)
Soooooo what times do those ruin bars start to get crowded? Asking as I want to check them out and am apparently staying a stone's throw from two you showcased!?
Mostly in the evenings on Friday and Weekends, but if you go there late afternoon weekdays or early afternoon on weekends you should be able to enjoy them without a ton of people 😊
Hey there! In all honesty I don't really know hotels here as I live in Budapest, so I never stayed in a hotel. I always search on booking dot com and check for hotels, reviews and prices there, then perhaps check the hotels individual site if they have a better offer. 😊
Hey there, Parking can be Very expensive in the city center. I am unfortunately not aware of Westends Parking policies and prices but it's a shopping mall, not sure if they allow long term Parking or if yes how expensive it may get. It's best to search for private parkings or long term parkings, there are a few in the city center and those are guarded. Just avoid P+R Parking lots as those are unguarded.

Hey there, not sure what you are looking for as "product design" must see. The Museum of Applied Arts (Iparművészeti Múzeum) may fit what you look for but unfortunately that is closed for Renovation. The Kiscelli Museum has some modern and contemporary exhibitions, collections of unique items or art and fashion related content, and they are highly regarded. Alternatively the new Museum of Ethnography's collection may be interesting for product design enthusiasts. 😊
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures as I am organizing a trip to budapest for 5-7 days for the student faculty organisation of design sciences I was hoping to do a tour of a marcel breuer house or workplace like there is of alvar aalto in helsinki but I guess this isn't possible either then?
Unfortunately no Marcell Breuer planned building was ever finished in Hungary, if you are looking for experience related to Bauhaus movement, perhaps the Walter Rózsi villa may be interesting which is a museum that can be visited. There is also a street called Napraforgó street which has many Bauhaus style villas, although they cannot be visited on the inside if I read correctly, but there is a site about the location.
the Street Food do they just take cash or can you use a card? what would you recommend for Kids to see and Eat, we booked a River Cruise and we have arriving early so we have 2 day there
Most of the places take credit card, perhaps really small stalls, some food trucks or sellers at markets may not have POS devices working and you'll require some cash. For Kids it really depends on their interest and their age. The House of Music is a cool interactive museum that kids can enjoy, its located in the Városliget city park that has a small lake where you can do boat riding, there are some cool playgrounds there too and the City Zoo is also here. Margaret Island also has some nice Playgrounds, and you can rent little buggies to cycle around the island. Palatinus beach on the Island has some nice slides, wave pool etc, kids enjoy this place too. A bit off the usual path, but the Csodák Palotája (Palace of Wonders) is an interactive place targeted at children to learn about science in a fun way. Regarding food for kids, I myself had a very picky taste as a child, so I can't really recommend anything as all kids have different food they enjoy or don't :)
You can easily get by with English, most people will speak it, but if there are challenges, Googles Translator app can be a life saver (both the conversation translator and the picture text translator 😊)
@@jaynedudley2357 hey there, Goulash has a meat base and it's dependent on usage of meat. Perhaps try out Vegan Garden restaurant, they have a Vegan Jókai Bean soup which is nice, it is also a very good dish that has Paprika spice at its core like Goulash. 😊 I had it once and it was good 😊
Hey there! Cards are widely accepted, it's kind of a requirement these days. Only a handful of places like the Labyrinth in Buda Castle, public toilets or a few very small convenience stores may not accept cards. So no need to carry a lot of cash, but could be good to have some in case it's needed.
How hell naw. The trdenlik or chimney cake. That thing is bigger than my cars exhaust. And in Prague they ripped me off. Damn. I don't trust the trdenlik stands now. Not even in Budapest
Sorry to hear about your bad experience in Prague. I did not hear of similar happening in Budapest Chimney Cake stands. There are established shops which are respected and don't rip people off (yeah some of them are expensive, but there are some cheaper places that offer good quality products still). I think in Prague the chimney cake is a bit overrepresented, while in Budapest it's under represented. It's still delicious :D
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures I didn't have personally. My gf did. I forgot to tell her. But I paid obviously. This is a man's world and we pay the price. And the funny thing that the chimney cake is Hungarian. It's not even Czech. They're there to rip off tourists
Good video but - speciality coffee? I don't go to different European cities to seek out speciality coffees; when I think of Budapest I don't think "I'm not going unless they have speciality coffees". Also, I go to Budapest to eat Goulash - it's Hungarian; why would I go to Budapest to eat Chinese? If I want to eat Chinese I'll do that here in the north of England. Overall I thought this was a wasted opportunity to highlight the hidden treasures of Budapest.
Budapest is lovely with loads to see and do but the food is terrible if you don’t eat meat. There is no recycling. Except a few parks with plastic bins. It’s 2023 recycle save our planet
Glad you like the city in general. I dont agree that the food is terrible, but yes Hungary is not famous for vegeterian food. But there are a ton of eateries which offer vegeterian/vegan food options. When it comes to recycling in public, yes Budapest is not perfect (like may other cities unfortunatly), but households since many years have recycling bins for plastic and paper. So we are getting there little by little.
As a vegetarian I must say unfortunately it's true the Hungarian cuisine is not so strong with the non meat food. The main vegetarian foods are mainly pasta, like palacsinta, tojásos nokedli, krumplis tészta.. However, most of the Indian restaurants can choose vegetarian food and there are many vegetarian burgers and pizzas as well around the city. We can create our own different types of salads from couscous, bulgur, rice with cheese, vegetables and green leaves.. sometimes it's a challenge to find a great place to eat without meat but during the time we can enjoy the discovering.🙏🌞
for next time if you remain vegetarian: Lecso (Hungarian Ratatouille), Főzelék from peas or spinach or lentils or potatoes or cabbage or bean/wax bean, Gombapaprikás (Mushrooms in this creamy sauce), Mushroom stew, Stuffed fried mushrooms, Hungarian fruit soups (there are a bunch of them, these are usually cold dishes), Rakott zöldbab (Hungarian layered green bean casserole), Creamed spinach, Breaded cauliflower (Rántott karfiol), Layered cauliflower, Layered Potatos, Cabbage casserole, Cabbage and noodles , Fishersoup (if you eat fish), Harcsapaprikás (also fish), Dödölle, Szilvácsgombóc, Túrógombóc, Lángos, Kürtőskalács (fast food), Aranygaluska (kind of sweet)

Wtf is a tdrenlik?
@@nuckingfuts4721 A chimney cake. In the Czech Republic they call them Trdénliks
That is why I would not promote chimney cake at all. You get them even in Croatia.........
...first, not this idiotic looking hat :((.
thank you for the informations. laszlo

We can create our own different types of salads from couscous, bulgur, rice with cheese, vegetables and green leaves.. sometimes it's a challenge to find a great place to eat without meat but during the time we can enjoy the discovering.🙏🌞
for next time if you remain vegetarian:
Lecso (Hungarian Ratatouille), Főzelék from peas or spinach or lentils or potatoes or cabbage or bean/wax bean, Gombapaprikás (Mushrooms in this creamy sauce), Mushroom stew, Stuffed fried mushrooms, Hungarian fruit soups (there are a bunch of them, these are usually cold dishes), Rakott zöldbab (Hungarian layered green bean casserole), Creamed spinach, Breaded cauliflower (Rántott karfiol), Layered cauliflower, Layered Potatos, Cabbage casserole, Cabbage and noodles , Fishersoup (if you eat fish), Harcsapaprikás (also fish), Dödölle, Szilvácsgombóc, Túrógombóc, Lángos, Kürtőskalács (fast food), Aranygaluska (kind of sweet)
