On both ocasions we paid 80+€ for 2 persons. Watch out for drink prices, as they simply doubled the final sum. If you are not carefull enough, you can end up paying 10€ for a single lungo.

even your 'cheap' example day is too expensive, haha. Those that will stay 2-3 days, should divide the city into areas, and each day visit one area by walking (yeah, you will walk a lot, but that's part of the experience, you will see the whole city). As for food, just buy cheapest stuff on any supermarket, for like 2-5 euro. Eating the local food is cool and should be supported... but for us on a tight budget, it's waaay cheaper to just buy stuff to fill your belly and keep your energy up, no need for fancy stuff.
That's absolutely fair, and probably applicable in any country. As I noted it all really depends on someone's personal preferences. Going to supermarkets and bakeries significantly cut the cost (even if those were also hit by inflation, they are still the cheapest option). And skipping experiences like the thermal baths and the river cruises also help to save a lot. Luckily Budapest can be fun just by exploring it and walking around 😊
Based on our experience during the winter of 2022 - 2023, I can confirm Budapest is more expensive than Greece, but less expensive than the UK or Germany.
Ok, Budapest is very expensive already. That is a good sign for Hungarians, but I really thought prices were much lower, influenced by the relative prices in the 1990s.
Unfortunately Inflation and other economic drivers have impacted us here over the Years. If I think about travels to other cities in Western Europe, prices here are still lower most of the time but definately not at the levels of the 90s anymore.
One important thing to know is the price of tickets to major attractions such as the parlament, matthias church, dohany synagogue, etc are super expensive. More than we spent in western Europe.
Unfortunately yeah, that's the case with some of these attractions, but to be honest, the city is really enjoyable even without going inside the parliament and such 😊
@@StuffedCabbageAdventures not only it's expensive but the tours are short and very rushed. No time to really look at things. But yes the city is beautiful and there are many places with great views
do you have any travel tips for tourist attending the F1 races later this summer? Is it possible to get the Hungaroring track by public transportation? What facilities can we expect at the track?
Hey there! There are always special public transport lines available for the race weekends. Usually on Hungaroring dot hu website they list the methods to reach the track (often it's a special bus from Göncz Árpád Városközpont metro station). The track is up to the standards that FIA requires so there are the essential shops, food stalls and toilets, but to be honest last time I was there was in 99' 😊 one thing for sure, stuff there will be expensive 😅
Would love to have them again, as they were certainly one of the cheapest ways to go on a river cruise, but unfortunately they don't operate for a long time now 😔
Thank you for your great video! I really enjoyed that and I am so happy that I am going to live there from June. I have a simple question: Can we drink tap water in Budapest or do we need to buy a water purifier or mineral water?
@@shahbazisina You can find some of these small drinking fountains or taps in tourist zones, those are 100% safe to use. They have no special marking, they are just there
I'll let you know in a few days, can you recommend some good places for live Rock music, especially for a Singer who might get up and join in with a Band?
Hey there! While there are venues with concerts or bars with live music, I personally didn't stumble into a place where it seemed okay to jump on stage and join in with the band. Perhaps try to ask the question on Facebook in the Things to do in Budapest group, there are people there who may know some place like you are looking for. Other than that, I hope you'll have a good time in Budapest 😊
Like in most cities, the places mostly visited by tourists will have higher prices. However altogether Hungary got more expensive in recent years unfortunately. There are some alternatives 'though. Restaurants in the outskirts can be cheaper, or buffet style places we call "kifőzde" where you can get food for reasonable price. Not Hungarian cuisine, but there are cheap Chinese places, or Turkish restaurants giving food for decent price (but quality won't be stellar). Or buying in convenience store and cooking for self is a cheap alternative for those who live here :)
Hey there, exchanging in the city is safe, there are many exchange offices which are part of large chains and have a door between you and the street so no need to worry when exchanging. Just check the exchange rates and choose whichever you find best, there are many in the Deák Ferenc square and Váci shopping street areas :) regarding ATMs, just go to one of the banks that is part of a chain and the atm machine is within it's premises. Don't use the standalone Euro ATM machines, those have terrible rates.
Unfortunately that's a bit of a difficult aspect to cover since the prices vary from area to area, size of rooms, stars and prestige of the hotels etc.
Don't worry, smart phones got you covered 😉 Google maps works fine (but for getting around with public transport, try the Budapest Go app). Also the Google Translate app is very good and useful: You can use your camera to look at text and it can translate from Hungarian to English for you 😊
Yes, only cash is accepted on the buses and the right amount has to be given because driver doesnt drive with a cash register and cannot give back difference. But it's easy to get a ticket via the kiosk machines at the airport and at many stops, or using the Budapest Go app (just note there is a special Airport Bus ticket required for the 100E bus 😊)
Hey there, unfortunately I am not well versed with the immigration requirements for Hungary, but on Facebook there are groups for Expats (like Expat Info - Budapest, or Hungary Expats) where I do see questions about this topic, maybe you'll be able to find some more info there 😊
