Welcome to Budapest, Hungary, an amazing city, full of history, beauty, and delicious Hungarian food! Today, I headed with my friend Adam (www.adamosvald.com/) to go on an ultimate Hungarian street food tour in Budapest. #Budapest #Hungary #HugarianFood
Great Market Hall - It’s one of the coolest markets in the world, a massive indoor market hall. Inside you’ll find all things Hungarian food, from an immense array of sausages and famous Hungarian cured meats to loads of paprika, and Hungarian pickles. We had an amazing time walking around, discovering the ingredients that make Hungarian food unique.
Fakanal Etterem - This is a nice restaurant on the second floor of the Great Market Hall, the chef recommended the eggs with sausage and extra chilies. It was delicious and the best way to get this street food tour started. Price - 970 HUF ($3.20)
Belvárosi Disznótoros - Next we walked over to Belvárosi Disznótoros, a locally popular restaurant for all things Hungarian meat. Inside you’ll find meat paradise - sausages of all kinds, meats galore, and something I noticed that we had to try - Mangalica pig - a special hairy pig from Hungary. Total price - 5,348 HUF ($17.65)
Molnár's Kürtőskalács - You can not visit Hungary and not eat Kürtőskalács - it’s not the easiest word to pronounce. It’s unique, it’s delicious, and they have a number of different flavors and combinations of what you can order. It’s loved by locals and just about everyone in the world who visit Budapest. Price - 1,200 HUF ($3.96) each
Retró Lángos Büfé - If you’re looking for the real deal Hungarian street food in Budapest, look no further than Retró Lángos Büfé, and specifically the food called langos. It’s a type of fried bread, loaded with you choice of toppings. We got the original with cream, cheese, and onions. It was everything you could possibly want on a fried bread, and incredibly tasty. I can still feel the pillowy dough sinking into my teeth. Price - 800 HUF ($2.64)
Downtown Market Hall - Hold Street Market - Next we headed to Downtown Market Hall in Budapest, another old market hall.
A Séf Utcája - After walking around for a while we stopped to eat at A Séf Utcája, specializing in home-cooked styles Hungarian food classic recipes. Food was delicious again, full of paprika, bright, and tasty. Price - 1,900 HUF ($6.27)
Espresso Embassy - Coffeeshop Budapest - By this time we needed a coffee, so we stopped at Adam’s favorite coffee shop called Espresso Embassy. Some of the best coffee you’ll find in Budapest.
Rétisas Vendéglő - To end this ultimate street food tour in Budapest, Hungary, we went to a sit down restaurant called Rétisas Vendéglő. It was a local spot with some unique and huge deep fried dishes. Great place, amazing food, and by the end of the day, we were stuffed! 7,490 HUF ($24.72) - Total price for everything
Thanks to Adam for taking me around Budapest. By the way, he does amazing motion design and animation: www.adamosvald.com/
Thank you for joining Adam and I on this Hungarian street food tour of Budapest!

@ Rene ... Can you imagine if modern day Budapest had the Original Empire days restaurants ... Good Gypsy music played live in Restaurants are now only in Expensive Restaurants .
Those wide city streets with trees lining the wide pavements lined with Shops, the smell of Coffee and sweet patisserie, very Paris equivalent and the mild warm summer breeze nights walking by the Danube .
You can see how many American cities are styled after European cities, but then many Europeans emigrated to America way back when ...

Hearing Hungarian makes me cry just a little bit - my grandmother passed away about 10 years ago. My mother no longer speaks Hungarian (all her friends speak English). I always go to the UWS to eavesdrop a little bit. Thanks for the smile : ) I have my fingers crossed for pogosca and gulyas. My grandmother (nagymama) was an amazing cook. I do my best. I grew up in Trinidad but we would go home and shift from amazing curries and fish and pilau and to kobasz and hurka and paprikas and pinched noodles and soups and a hundred other things that I would love right now. Thank you ❤️ I do make langos and palascinta (sweet and savoury). And, the mushroom soup! I also love the cauliflower but you had so much food! Really, thank you ❤️

When people think of tasty European cuisine they rightfully think French, Greek, Italian and so on but still Hungarian cuisine is so under the radar. I loved Hungary and I love our food and thankfully learned to cook much of it. Watching you walk around the food market and tasting so many of my favs let me relive my time there. How about that Langos? In Hungary you paid under $3 U.S. & when they have Hungarian Events here in the USA they charge up to $8 for a small langos. But when you love something you buy it. YUM Thank you again for sharing. OH YOU MUST GO BACK!!! There are so many foods you didn't get to taste and it's worth another trip. Chicken Paprika, Stuffed Cabbage, etc. And the desserts. Our food is very spicey compared to more northern European foods thanks to our asian heritage. But it fused a lot with german cuisine, we eat tons of cabages and pork. Many of our food is actually very easy to make at home, even in Sweden as long as you can get your hands on good quality paprika powder.

It IS one of the tourist attractions of the city, so they have a reputation to preserve. 😉 But also, Hungarians like high quality produce and ingredients when it comes to food, and that means keeping things clean is important to them. These people are really a lot about food and cooking and eating, and doing things the proper way in the kitchen. It is quite common to hear Hungarians criticizing how other people make the same dish. 😂 These are people who complain about the weight they will put on but they will go ahead and eat it anyway. 😂

I visited Budapest for a day when we went on holiday to Vienna. I was amazed at how Hungarians could speak perfect English! Especially compared to the Austrians.

Just FYI to everyone, the chimney cake is about 300 forints/$1 USD outside that store. That has got to be the most expensive place in Budapest. I hope it was amazing because the ones you can get for about 300 forints are very good.

    • @MrsMoz

Yeah they seem to be going to the most expensive places...

    • @Gomba13
      @Gomba13 2 роки тому

Logically, if you have limited time to eat lots of typical stuff, and you want to show decent quality stuff (so people know what the decent stuff looks like), you will 1) go to the more expensive places, and 2) try to stay in a central area, where unfortunately everything is more expensive no matter where you are in the world.
Good point mentioning that you can get the same stuff for cheaper though.

Canadian with a Hungarian grandmother. Grew up eating hurka and paprikash and sure miss my grandmother's cooking! You should have tried dobos torte as well. I have grandma's recipe but it's never quite the same as when she made it😪. Ukrainian/German on the other side of the family so always had great food!
