  • What are the best Souvenirs you should buy when you visit Budapest in Hungary? The city is full of Souvenir shops, but it's easy to get lost in the clutter. In this video we'll give you a Local's recommendation on what items and gifts you should consider taking home with you, so that a piece of the great memories you had here in Budapest and Hungary remain!
    When you travel you take many pictures and later on as you have a look at those the memories of your great trip can resurface. Most people take fridge magnets to showcase all the places they've been to. But there are many cool and more local ways to bring those experiences back, and here we are going through some of the items that should fit in your baggage .
    But the question remains, where to buy most of these stuff? Many of the items we show you in this video can be easily acquired in convenience stores, however there are two shops which can help greatly in avoiding the cheap chinese generic rip-offs:

My grandparents were from Leia (spelling?) and their cookie jar was always filled with wafer cookies and Keebler cookies that had chocolate bottoms with drizzles of chocolate on top. See the Balaton and Pilota sweets explain why. Thank you for that! When I am in Budapest next year, I will definitely pick up some for a taste test and bring some back for the family.

    Thanks again, I always find your video’s interesting and entertaining 👍 Even being half Hungarian though, is not enough for me to like Unicum. Instead I’ll go for a pálinka as an apperative or digestive. Or a good Tokaj Aszú … I also can’t decide whether I like Gyulai or Csabai more, so most of the time I’ll have both. I’m lucky to have a Hungarian shop over here where they sell all the food and drinks 😀

      Hey there! When it comes to chocolate, the higher quality brands are Stühmer and Szamos, and there is Szerencsi also which is the simplest from the 3. However, few of my favorites which are more commerce are Balaton Szelet, Sport Szelet and Kapuciner. I guess we'll need to make a video about all the different local chocolate bars :D And of course lets not forget about Turó Rudi which is a chocolate covered Curd Dessert :)

    In 2013 , US customs took / confiscated all my sausages and salamis, even though they were air vacuumed or sealed , packed as they sell at supermarkets, and had the inspection stamps. I was so upset, I cried! They most likely took them home and ate them!

      Sad to hear that, unfortunately I know that sometimes some meat and produce could be banned from being brought into certain countries due to outbreaks or just to protect the interest of the local producers... I hope that by now that changed.

      Thank you so much! Most of the Beers are available in canned forms these days but you can still find some bottled ones of the major commercial brands like Dreher, Soproni, or Arany Ászok, though I would only stick to Dreher and Soproni. While they are not remarkable, they are nice to have on a hot summer day, so if you are looking for some bottles for your cap collection, you can try those for example :)

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Місяць тому

      I believe that cheap or expensive will depend on your countries' point of view. Western Europeans will find it cheaper (not by a lot, some things are priced the same or higher), Eastern Europeans will find it expensive. For us Hungarians, the inflation in past few years made living here on the expensive side.

      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  Місяць тому

      @@ziadelamir9108 I'm sorry but that really depends on what you wish to purchase as that can be different from country to country with different taxes etc... overall, countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and others in the Balkans will be generally cheaper on the European scale.

    What about folk art embroidery and the famous bicska?

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  10 місяців тому +1

      Regarding folk art emrboidery I believe we cover that with items that have Matyó or Kalocsai designs :) The best items are usually embroidered and not printed :) As for Bicska, hehe, yeah, but the swiss knifes are more famous than our Bicska to be honest and not many shops sell those :)

    Can you please tell me how much should I consider for meals per day in Budapest - breakfast , lunch and dinner

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  9 місяців тому

      Hey there! We have a video about how expensive Budapest is, and while the prices public transport are changing, other items we cover remain around the same. Regarding food it's hard to say simply because a simple breakfast like a sausage mustard and bread can be much cheaper vs some of the popular Brunch places, and same applies for lunch and dinner, it depends on the type of restaurant you visit. But generally a main dish will cost somewhere between 4000-6000 HUF but can go waaay beyond that in some places.

      Hey there! Most of the traditional sausages are pork based, but some Butchers sell Beef sausages and salamies (and sometimes available in stores like Lidl, Tesco etc). For example Grey Cattle which is a local breed can be found as a base for some salamies and sausages, and it's nice (Szürke Marha = grey cattle) :)
