Very informative video. My car got hit recently and a similar body panel would need to be replaced. A body shop is repairing it right now and told me I would not be able to see or feel the seam connecting the 2 sections. I kept wondering how it's done. Now I understand the process from watching your video. Will watch more of your videos as I enjoy learning new things even though I do not plan to do it myself. You are very skillful.
When you make the Final Cut, and you set the new panel overtop the old one, how did you pick where to cut the new panel at? Just cut one inch back from the edge? Like put a piece of tape on the edge and cut on the inside of it? Through both layers obviously.
The tape placement between the scenes is messing up my brain. I watched this for a hour over and over again and couldn’t figure out how you picked where to cut the new panel at. I know it’s originally cut big, to have extra to overlap.
@jkcope90 hey! I think I explained it better in this video ua-cam.com/video/4F9QlFu5iik/v-deo.htmlsi=cCCzme3XH5eopzQl But yes, basically, I figure out where the exact cut location is. I cut it long and short on both panels(about an inch) and then cut in between. Sometimes, it's helpful to re measure the cut once they are over lapped. If you have any questions, feel free to ask

I don’t wanna be that guy but welding a few plates to that roof lip and a slide hammer might of got ya 15 hours to fix that. But either way your sectioning technique is top notch.
What a great job! I am not a body guy but i have wrecked my stuff before! Lol
Recently discovered your chanel. Appreciate everything you do especially for us apprentices. 🙏🏻
Thanks! How far along into your apprenticeship are you?
This is excellent. Love the commentary!
Glad you liked it!
I have watched many UA-cam videos and you should really become an instructor on autobody work! Best by far that I have seen!
Good work

Awesome video! Thanks!
You put more spot welds and in between from the original spot weld, when putting in new panel?
No, The same amount of spot welds. I try to put them back as close to where the original was as possible
Very professional
Great information thanks keep them coming 👍
Great Job & Great Video Bro!!

Any tips on cutting the qt section when getting close to the flanges? Without damaging the inner? Thank you!
@jeremiahgregorio85 I will make a video in the future. This is tough thing to do and it takes lots of time and practice

do you coat the bare metal with weld thru primer... seems to me there should be something to protect the metal you exposed???
yes, weld through primer is meant for the flanges where the 2 panels mate
Do you remove the ECM ( disconnect electronics) before you weld the car
It's best practice, yes, although I do forget from time to time.(disconnect battery)
Uh, just the battery? Or, both the ECM and the battery?
@@jerryhuff86 Just the battery
Thanks
You don’t put the door to adjust it in place with the panel?
It's always good practice. For this instance, I did not because it was sush a small section. I was confident that it would fit
Great welds!😎👍 all your work is flawless
A crazy amount of work for such a little panel. The entire car is totally gutted.
Yea?

Agreed! Sometimes, I don't make the best calls
I'm with ya i would of repaired it
Well that definitely could've been fixed
Yea, for sure. Looking back, I probably should have
Love your channel! I was wondering the make and model of the mini belt sander and resipricating autobody saw you use? Thank you!
It's a 3M Belt Sander and Astro Pneumatic reciprocating saw. Check out the links in the description. I should have most of the tools there!
