excellent little amp. i've got one pushing two jbl cs1214 subs at 2 ohms in a small sealed box. it sounds great. plenty loud...the subs don't hit the super low notes but the amp is a perfect match for them. stays cool even after beating it all day. great value at $120.
I am happy to report my lil Prime 500 has been running strong without a single hiccup on 1 Kicker CVR-15 D4 @ 2ohms for over 4 years, not a single hiccup it's been paired with a Prime r300X4 for mids and highs. They have both been great amps for the money.
Gonna try to do more amp test videos. Tested quite a few, just always forget to video it. Recently did an Alpine MRX-M110. Rated at 1100W @ 2-ohm... did 2157W @ 2.3 ohms!!!! What?!?! Wish I had video as proof. :-/
rtkota5point9 nice check out the vid of audiopipe dyno at .5 ohms did 2700+ lol would recommend running that but it took it, 1 ohm I think it did 1600+ I think but my alpine Mrx 550 went hard for a very small amp

Just bought one used for $30. Also got a Alpine M500 for $30 and a old Punch 360.6 for $30. Installed in the family van pushing a single Kenwood 10" Excelon Shallow sub(250w RMS rated). Now I just need to hook up the bass dial where it can't be seen from outside but easily accessible while driving.
Can I assume the 5.1 channel of the same exact series is also probably a good amp or is it possible it has completely different design and parts inside? I'm thinking it will rate as well.. but not sure. That goes with any manufacturer, I wonder if I can assume the entire series is good if one of the amps in series test well?
That's what it's made for. I have one on a single P1 12" (single 4 ohm) and it's PLENTY. It also never even gets warm. I'm very impressed with this little amp.
Hello, before installing my stereo, I would love some input from some fellow car audio enthusiasts. First of all, hello there :) I picked up 2 12 inch kicker comp r 500 watt rms @ 2ohm. I have each one in a sealed enclosure built to kicker spec. I wanted to power each sub with one of these amps. So I plan to run two of these amps total. Can I do this? Can I grab signal from one amp and bring to the other? Will I need a cap or an extra battery for this setup? I haven’t gone this big before so I’m trying not to blow sh*** up and make fires, any input or advice is welcome and very appreciated. Thank you all so much, have a wonderful day be safe and rock those tunes :) 👍 🤘
You should have done a burst at a few lower frequencies to simulate actual music power. E.I. 40 hz and 50 hz. See if it still makes at least the rated power at the higher real world impedance load.
AMP LAB Admin, i just buy R500X1D rockford amplifier to power my P2D2 rockford 12 inch 2 ohms Subwoofer, are they compatible?? Hoping to your kind support.
I'm running one of these Amps to 2 p3d2 10s and they absolutely pound. I could use more power to them but don't really need it. I feel my ear drums flex when the bass hits
Just purchased this RF Amp and am pairing it with a RF 12" P2D2 single vented enclosure would it be safe if I go all 500watts?? The sub peaks at 800RMS, and would it be a dumb to do, to stuff the box with polyster batting for a better sound??? Need help this will be my 1st system
Not sure what you mean...the amp does it's job...there is no way to control watts once it is hooked to a sub in a box..it does what your sub and box let it do..down to 2ohms or so
bimbo831 just don't clip it or your subs..when It stops getting louder back off a hair or two and learn to hear distortion..my friend has an I phone and it sounds like shit on my sysytem..I have to tell him everytime he hooks up his phone he is clipping.turn the sygnal down
+Timothy Hinton yea I got a friend that help me out set my gains, I just got a single 12" and this amp slaps my sub like if I had two 15" no lie. and no over heating what so ever
I have this very same amp in my truck pushing 2 Memphis 12's.......when the place installed it I looked at the guy and was like , really that Lil amp is gonna push them speakers. ....well it actually blew 2 of them within the first 3 months, cracked the baskets on the woofer, no bigge, he replaced it cause it was still under warranty, a week later the same side ,same thing , he then replaced it again by that time they had figured out that it was the previous generation Memphis subs that were the issue, after that and 4 yrs later still hitting hard only issue I have is the blue led light is no longer with us......RIP homie
@@jeremys8360 yeah so I went with a ground shaker ported downfiring box with skar vd 12's and skar rp1200.1 amp still don't really like it, honestly the Memphis upfiring sealed box with a 500 watt rockford amp sounded better.....so now I got 4 audiopipe txx bdc4 6.5"s....just gotta build a foward firing box for it....urggghh...
Buy a dual 4ohm sub and wire positive to positive and negative to negative then run the positive and neg to the amp and boom there's your 2 ohm load it's all about knowing what ohms each voice coil is on your sub if your have anymore questions look up how to wire subs in parallel and series on youtube!
No way to answer that. Depends on signal voltage from headunit, and other factors. You really need an o-scope or distortion detector to properly set gains. Some amps also have guidelines to set gains based on output voltage of the amp. I don't believe Rockford has that though.
I appreciate the honest answer and quick reply. I got the amp and a single DVC 2 ohm sub, after I got to looking and seen this wasn't 1ohm rated and realized I need to purchase a DVC 4 ohm sub lol. Thanks though
559KING yeah it was. It started a few months ago it would Go into protect mode when the bass hits hard. Then I lowered my gain it worked fine for a while. Noe it stays on protect. All wires seem to be fine.

I really enjoy watching these amp tests. keep up the good work :)

Nice Amp Test
That bad boy is the TRUTH! My birthsheet is 651. Still looks the same.
Loving the amp tests. I need to make a video of what my old school Rockford bd1000a1 does for wattage.

rtkota5point9 wouldn't recommend it*** I meant to say
Picked up this amp for $118. Looking forward to hooking it up to my BFM autotuba using a Dayton 10". Should pound pretty good. :)
great budget amp.got this hooked to 2 kicker c10's and they can't take half it's power
It works great to power my 8 inch kicker L7

Can you recommend this amp with JBL GT5-2402BR? Those JBL are 2x12" 550w RMS.
It would also be nice if you could crack them open and let us know if the components are good or crap... I mean if it is possible to do.
Just ordered one for my budget setup .

Dirt Rusty should’ve gone with a p2 dual 4 at 2ohms.

I have the amm1 how do I wire up so I can see the realtime power
where was your gain set at?
Is ur box sealed peaking at 22 htz full blast woulda. Not even been hard on the sub h2 htz is a awfully tone
Just ordered this for my Kicker comp Q 12" sub, but I'm guessing I'll be sending it back for a larger model. Prime 750, but we shall see. 🤷♂️
But what is the wattage at a 40HZ?
Would it blow my r2d2-12 ?
My amp is powered on and I just ran new rca cables, but no sound from the sub. What would cause this to happen, bad ground or remote?
Tommy Jackson u can cheak remote by jumping over to power turmnel do u have the paint scraped on ground

Would you be able to run them to 1 ohm? Running two Rockford Fosgate P2D4-12 4ohm DVC
I wouldnt think so safely. These ARE still a budget amp. Don't think they will like lower loads.
Personally i like rockford Fosgate cause they are True RMS thats why i want to get it and not break the bank but thanks!

bimbo831 if your sub or subs need 500-600 watts rated then you can not go wrong with this amp..I am impressed
bimbo831 just don't clip it or your subs..when It stops getting louder back off a hair or two and learn to hear distortion..my friend has an I phone and it sounds like shit on my sysytem..I have to tell him everytime he hooks up his phone he is clipping.turn the sygnal down

I have the r300. You can build a nice system with prime components for cheap.
how hot do these get running on 2 ohms?
Not at all.
rtkota5point9 awesome. thanks for replying
why
Trent Robey you have an issue with your box, I would assume

Will this amp fry a P2D4-12 sub?
2Bass 2Furious maybe.. saw these beating p3d4 12sub
I got this amp its trashed 3 different subs lol it seems way underrated
Be aware you may be clipping which melts voicecoil's unless they were like Walmart subs
how many watts does it put out at 4 ohms?
toni s 300 Watts at 4 ohms
What's the peak power at 4 ohms?
adaboy4z Mine has 220watt’s @ 4 OHM 14volt
I’m sorry stupid question how do I run this at 2 ohms??
Buy a dual 4ohm sub and wire positive to positive and negative to negative then run the positive and neg to the amp and boom there's your 2 ohm load it's all about knowing what ohms each voice coil is on your sub if your have anymore questions look up how to wire subs in parallel and series on youtube!
What was the RMS at 4 ohm?
TxBacc Breaka rated 300. Guessing it could do 360ish.
300
Can this be wired to 1 ohm?
Anyone got any sdvice? This amp blew my Alpine S-Type (500RMS 1500Peak) had the gain at 65%. Bad AMP? or my Ignorance??
Correction, my S-Type is 500 RMS and 1000 Peak
Doesn't matter if the wattage is matched perfect. You were most likely clipping the amplifier. Thats likely the cause of the blown subwoofer
The Amp Lab Is that too high of a gain setting?
The Amp Lab Thanks in advance.

Mines stay at 134 degrees and it was 95 outside my trunk was double
Mine stays room temp..I can blast 20 hertz on a sine wave for 20 minutes and it does not get hot ever..the best 500 watt amp I ever owned
Are these stable at 1ohm?
Has anyone tested them at 1??
+MiragEdoz will not work at 1ohm. It shuts off.
the rockville amps are one ohm stable
@@dank9288639 they are also junk overrated bs
Do you really think this couldn't be wired at 1ohm?
TheAquam Yeah I really do. It's not 1-ohm stable and will protect at 1-ohm.
I appreciate the honest answer and quick reply. I got the amp and a single DVC 2 ohm sub, after I got to looking and seen this wasn't 1ohm rated and realized I need to purchase a DVC 4 ohm sub lol. Thanks though
I've run this amp at 1ohm before, and works for about 30 min and goes into protection mode to cool down
I run this amp at 1.3 ohm all day long. No problems. Anyone care to elaborate?
my prime goes into protect mode now, whats the deal??
Peter Ou Was it working fine before?
559KING yeah it was. It started a few months ago it would Go into protect mode when the bass hits hard. Then I lowered my gain it worked fine for a while. Noe it stays on protect. All wires seem to be fine.
Peter Ou What is your system setup? Ohms, speakers, 4 or 8 gauge etc....
Will it go 1ohm?
No, it is not 1 ohm stable. Step up to the R750-1D or the R1200-1D and they are 1 ohm stable.
my prime shuts off instantly at 1ohm
I was curious if it could do it..I guess you answered that question
The 750 can handle .8
+Timothy Hinton it's also a 1ohm amp..most 1ohm stable amps can handle .8
I only buy Rockford or Alpine
