  • As we continue on with our docuseries covering the various aspects and processes that go into completing a large builtin project we wanted to take a moment to discuss our paint set up.
In this video we discuss our paint sprayer, and product like out preferred primer, paint, clear coat, etc.
Oddly enough, as a carpenter, one of the most common questions I get asked is about paint, our spray setup, primer, tips, etc. So, I figured it would make sense to put together a video covering some of those details that I can point people to when the questions arise.

Gallery is where it as at now, as I have used it on 4 or five projects, and will not go back to Emerald unless I have to for a kitchen that I cannot spray boxes. Gallery will not roll well at all. I have been using a mixture of Emerald and Gallery in those instances, but all my new cabinetry gets Gallery every time! Great video!

Have you considered giving Gemini Evo a try? We use it exclusively and get great results. Primer sands very well and great finish

Never heard of it. Who makes it?

@CarpentryPlus Gemini coating. We get it from our Benjamin Moore dealer locally. It's water-based. We switched to it from lacquer based paint. The smell is very minimal, and dry time is super fast. Very easy to spray. I'm a cabinet builder at our shop and I'm able to spray it with good results on my side jobs.

Great video. Which spray guard is compatible with 310?

Is there a reason you don’t use the kem aqua for paint since you’re already using the clear?

Years ago when I first inquired about kem aqua the sales person wasn’t very knowledgeable about the product or even how to order it. I eventually became familiar with the Emerald and liked it well enough. Fast forward a few more years and I was looking for a good water based clear and inquired again. Had to keep pressing them but got them to order me some and I’ve been pretty happy with it.

@@CarpentryPlus I ran into the same thing. The reps acted like they had no idea what I was even talking about when I asked so I stuck with the Sherwood precat for the past 4 years since that’s what I was already using, but the fumes and clean up and everything that accompanies a lacquer has really gotten to me. The new rep I’ve been talking to got me some test gallons of the primer and paint in Kem aqua so hopefully they’re comparable to the finish of the precat so I can switch over. I appreciate your response and as always you do amazing work.
