GlamFam I just washed my daughters hair, and to my surprise her texture has changed, it's more manageable and soft. Does it mean that her hair is getting healthier?
Typically it means her moisture balance has improved, so in most cases, yes that means healthier hair 😊👍🏽
GlamFam hi Lin I really need help on the tease and smooth mannequin head please!!!
I hope you see mines.
BAM!!! You ROCK! This is AWESOME! Thanks soooo much! New Fan! Thought I knew enough but learnt anew! Thank you Thank you!
Ohhh...porosity = pores! The more open the pores, the more moisture can enter and escape...and vice versa. Got it!
Thank you! Ill continue the video now....😊
I didn't realize hair had pores.
Where has this channel been all my life???
I don’t know, but I’m glad you found us now! 😊❤️
😱😱😱Porosity seems overwhelmingly complicated🙉🙉🙊🙊❤️❤️!!!
U bout the only one who explained the whole porosity thing clearly where I can understand yes
I am soooo freaking thankful you made this video! My 10 y/o daughter always hates for me to do her hair on wash day because it takes so long. She has very, very thick, curly hair that used to be easier to manage but now it's become very dry, no matter what I put on it & I know why. She's hp but I've been treating it as if it's Lp like mine. Detangling her hair is the worse. I wet it & put lots of conditioner on it but because her hair was usually matted it was a long, difficult process. I don't have a hooded dryer but I do have a heat cap and I will start giving her deep conditioning treatments every wk now.
Omg!!! Single strand knots are so annoying. The more my hair grow, the more i have. So i just find myself cutting these knots daily.
oh, is that what my hair be doing. I always wondered why it feels that way on a single strand.
I have these a lot too. Don't feel bad
Get a good detangler
That is right, dust those ends!
I have high porosity hair because my hair takes up moisture way to easily and dries fast when I wet it.I have 4c hair
Same!!!!
And tangles easily
Me too🤦🏽♀️ I’m working with it by shampoos every week with deep conditioning, LOC and twists. Refresh mid week. My issue is I have length but low (thin) density. What can I do to thicken my hair strands?
@@frankiedhampton6658 same
@@frankiedhampton6658 check out henna and cassia....
He knows his stuff!! Im binge watching😂
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching!
He really does!
I’m binge watching too!
Love, love, love this video. Learned a lot about hair porosity. You're so talented and I thank you for sharing this information. Not knowing your hairs porosity can make a huge difference in your hair growth by using the proper products. Thank you and continued blessings to you and your beautiful family.
This was very helpful. Thank you so much. Straight forward and to the point without confusion. Needed it! Keep up the great work Glam Fam. Learning a lot from your channel and laughing as well! I love it when you all clown around because I relate to the shinnanigans! ✌🏽❤️& hair grease!
Finally!! Someone that speaks on Normal porosity!! Thank you so much. I was able to understand everything you said and it also logically made sense as well as being relatable to the things I've experienced myself.
Omg thank you!! I have High porosity hair and I’ve been listening to way too many uneducated people about it. Thank you for finally giving me the key I need to grow my hair! I’ve obviously been mistreating it but now I’m on a growth journey. Thanx again!
Wow.... I'm going to watch this about 10 times......this Definitely gonna help me treat my husband and my kids hair.....
Seriously thank you
Love this content. Great way of explaining things as well. Thank you!
Wow! Best hair porosity explanations I’ve heard yet. Now I finally understand my main hair type is medium porosity but now I get why my roots were more low porosity and my colored ends are high porosity. I also get why some products work better than others and why sleeping in conditioner over night wasn’t really doing much at all. Thank you so so much. If more women were aware of this, it would make caring for our individual crowns so much easier.
Thank you so much for the info. You broke it down so well.
Nice clean presentation! I am happy that i was nodding along with you and that I am doing some of the same things!
I'm so glad I found your page😭😭😭 other ppl talk about porosity but you actually educate us on it.. yes new subbie!!!!
Thank you so much! You have just helped me to know my daughter and I have HP hair. This will help us fight our tangles and prevent that matting.
I swear this is the best youtube video explaining hair porosity finally i found someone who explains every porosity type because it seems that everyone only exclusively talks about either high or low but forget about us in the middle of the spectrum who have issues too but i will say I know high and low porositys are more challenging to deal with at times..
THE BEST TEACHER I have EVER seen! KUDOS from one teacher 2 the next! This is how u do it!!😉🤗
Thank you so very much dear!
loved the way you explained different hair porosity, many thanks👍👌💖
Thank you SO MUCH for this info! Very helpful for me to keep moisture in my daughter’s hair without the buildup, thus causing scalp issues!
I’m finding using gentle (sulfate Free) Shampoo and conditioners with no “cones” and oiling her scalp before putting in any other leave in conditioner ore shea butter is helping the scalp stay healthy.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I am so encouraged, it is so beneficial, moving forward. 😊
Now I get it! I've been treating my high porosity hair like low porosity. Thank you for clarifying this for me!
...and I have been treating my LP like HP...using creams and having it sit on my hair not know why but just waiting for it to 'absorb' into my hair 👍👍
Hi Llnwood,
Thanks for this video. I learned more in this short video than I've heard or seen on UA-cam in the last 2 years. I didn't know that different porosity types could be present in the same hair strand, or how the stand ends could
absorb moisture differently than the root. The tips about the correct shampoos and conditioners was very helpful.
Thanks, God bless
Thank you so much for this video, super helpful!!
I just found your channel. This is great information! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for this information. My daughter referred me to your video, and this information helped me determine the type of products I need to take care of my natural hair.
BAM!!! You ROCK! This is AWESOME! Thanks soooo much! New Fan! Thought I knew enough but learnt anew! Thank you Thank you!
I am so dang overjoyed for this video I promise you I was going to ask myself, bless you Linwood ❤️❤️❤️
You are a blessing! Thank You for sharing your hair Knowledge love it🌹
My joy! Thanks for watching!
Great information, thank you! I've gone through many of your videos but can't recall one on protein. That would be a great also, if you haven'tdone one already. Thanks again for taking the time to share information on hair care!
I had low porosity, now feels moisturized as I did my hair masque 1 X a week & I used a clear shower cap along with a crochet hat, then I put a wet towel in the microwave to warm it up & kept this on my head for at least 20-30 minutes & I truly believe this helped allot & saved myself from space, which I don't have allot of these days, plus saved some CA$HOLA... I sure love your vids. Thank you, love ya Boo. Hugs to you & yours. 😘💞🎵🌷🌺🌸😆👏👍💫🌟💛

If you don't mind me asking, do you make your own masks or buy them premade? I have LP hair too that's fine strand and thick density wise, and would consider trying what you said. I think if I could introduce more moisture into my hair it would help me alleviate some of the bad tangling and struggles that plague wash day. I WISH I had the strength and patience to do a masque once a week but, honey, I may have to find a compromise for the sake of my sanity lol 😂
Thank you!!!! I will have to watch again great information
I have just discovered your videos and i looooooooove them! I'm very new to " natural" hair.i stopped chemically straightening it 8 no this ago and I'm learning lots. It's a look for road.
Much needed for us all!!!Yess and thank u!!!🤗
Very good information and explained perfectly. Thank you!😁
Excellent video about hair porosity. Thank you. I think I have different porosity in my head. And I'm going to take your advice.😻
Excellent! Very informative! Thank you
This was so helpful and you explained everything perfectly. I have high porosity hair AND it’s bleached, I never knew the steamer was not for me. Thank you so much!
Truly my pleasure!
I'm HP and love my steamer and also have a bonnet and hooded dryers. Good to know that dry hair in 1-2 days is standard, thought it was just me. TFS
Love your content. Thanks for the video! One Love💕
Great advice! Thank you!
The best video on youtube about the porosity! Thanks a lot. I have subscribed
Hey GlamFam, it's Connie. Thank you so much for this video Linnwood. I really appreciate it/you. I have a much better understanding about low porosity hair and what I'm (suppose to) doing and why I'm doing it (LCO, ect). Thanks for providing the links as well.
My absolute pleasure dear! Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel, and you are so incredibly helpful! Thank you so much:)
I would like to see a video on the best high porosity deep conditioning method.
Great info Linwood. One thing many people may ask, what is the best way to test your hair porosity? Everyone knows the water test but I know there are other ways (possible content) you can discuss in detail. You have helped me so much with my hair so your knowledge is golden.
Thanks.. this video was very helpful. You are the best teacher I've come across on UA-cam.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been struggling with my hair for years after having my son. I thought my hair was damaged because of the knotting of my hair and matting during shampooing. This answer a lot of things I've been experiencing and will make the adjustments to get my hair back to a healthy state. 😄😄😄😄
Such a pleasure! Also, if it’s been more than 3 months since your last trim, make sure to get one, split ends can cause tangled and knitting also.
Hi Linwood -- love how you breakdown information regarding black hair..... you keep it real and relevant. i'm a 50+ black female and my "fabric" of natural hair is fine and thin (AND low density). i am pretty sure that it is high porosity as well (the water in the glass test did not work for me - i thought my hair was low porosity for a while). i only wish i could sit in your chair weekly to help me understand protein treatments and moisturizing/over-moisturizing for, what i think, is fragile hair. If possible, can you do a video on my type of hair???
Great info as usual!!✌🏽🖖🏽 thank you!!! You look like a cool Jazz player in this video
This was so informative!
I loved this. I'd like to see more videos like this. I'm looking fwd to see the upcoming videos you mentioned.
Thank you dear! Thanks for watching!
Looking dapper, Linwood.☺Another great informative video.👏👏❤❤
Cleared up a lot of my confusion, thank you!
My joy! Thanks for watching!
That hat looks so great on you! Thanks for this video I'm definitely lp curly girl
That hat and outfit makes you look like an educator imparting wise information. Made me sit up and pay attention
Love this information. I believe I am lo-po type/this is very helpful!
I most certainly learned a heck of a lot from this video. I am a bit more confident now that I will reach this year's goal of at least 10 cm growth. I am an English third language speaker so I kept hearing about porosity but no clue what it meant for my hair. rock!
I would love more videos like this, thanks. One thing I want to mention is that I truly trust the information that you give more than others. Others I feel like are repeating what they have heard from other people who probably don't know what they're talking about and you, I think you're more scientifically-based. You went to school and the way that you relay it, like I really trust it and it makes sense so please the more videos the better
Thank you so very much! I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Youre an awesome teacher! Thk you soo much!
I know this is older but very helpful. I am Caucasian and mid 50s woman. I noticed a change in my hair with menopause, making it much higher porosity which I did not know what that was at the time. This has been very helpful. I have been using Nioxxin shampoo to help with hair loss (related to hormones) but now see that it has sulfates. I will probably keep using it because I think it helps but will concentrate it only at the scalp and try some of the other ideas here. Thanks for this video!
Thanks so much Lin!! Very informative!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! This has been really helpful. Could you do a video on products for the different types of porosity? God bless you
Great Video. Very Informative yet not an hour long... Love it
You are so on point with this video. xx
Always great informing content. Definitely will have to watch again. It's making me 2nd guess if I really do have high porosity hair. Cab you do a video on testing to see if you have high or low porosity hair?
Thanks for sharing. Great information!!!!!!
Ive never heard about letting the hair cool before rinsing it out. Good to know!
Thank you 😊 now I know that I’m a high porosity 🤗moisture and more moisture 💪💪
Thank you I have high porosity from over processing my hair so this is extremely helpful!! Than you and thank you!!!
Great video. Very informative. Thank you for sharing this
My pleasure dear!
Very informative, thank you! Certainly explains why beginning to deep condition has greatly improved my high porosity sponge :)
I wonder if that's why it also loves wash and goes with a strong gel? The gel cast acting as a cuticle filler, maybe?
Wow that was great! I followed you and got the info I needed! Thank you..
My joy! I’m so happy it helped!
Finally, I understand. Thank you !
Wow. Just yesterday I was looking up information about my hair's porosity! 🤯 #rightontime #stayoutofmyhead #letmycookiesgo
I wish there was a ❤ button instead of just a 👍🏾! This was so helpful and now porosity makes sense. Love this type of content. Thank you Linwood!
Hope Irvine realized they were blessed glad your back.
Informative. Thankyou
I have been waiting for this video
This helped me to understand my hair. Thank you again.
My joy! Thanks for watching!
WOW! Good information! Thank you!!!
I am so glad I found your Chanel . It was so informative thank you so much
That’s wonderful! Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for all the helpful info Linwood!!! Can't wait to see what you have to say about gylcerin, cuz gylcerin and my hair aren't friends. Also I'm wondering if I need to retest my hair's porosity. I saw a video saying test a clean dry strand of hair in water. Well years ago I tested a clean wet strand of hair, with results of lp. So from my understanding there was no way to tell if the water got in since the strand was wet. Therefore, my results may have been inaccurate.
Btw...I bought the 24oz Giovanni avocado and olive oil shampoo and conditioner for $6 each on clearance at TJMaxx, and I loooove it. Especially the conditioner, it was amazing. Sorry for the long comment.
You are so helpful!
Thank you because my hair hasn't had a growth spurt (if I can say that) in a while and grows in spots and always dry to the look but to the scalp, oily; I will look at this again and again until I get it, the difference for I have very soft hair and easily pulls out
My pleasure! I hope this helps!
This is the first time I've been able to understand what porosity is really about. Thank you
Great vid! I learned a lot 😊 I have high porosity hair and I have to moisturize every single day or my hair looks frizzy and dry
Learned plenty thank you very much!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I know that this video is old.... but can help myself commenting. You are the best educator ever.... big ups to you sir and many many thanx
I just love your videos and I love the way you explain things. Keep doing yo thang. This is one of my favorite channels 😊
Thank you so very much!
@@GetGlamFam you are so very welcome 😊
Thank you so much for this information. I have Caucasian normal porosity hair but my grey hair....low, low, low. It doesn't get wet. It is coarse and wirey. Greys still look frizzy even after some serious conditioning. NOW I know to heat up those little grey troublemakers to absorb the conditioner, then rinse them in cold water to lock it in. Cannot WAIT to wash my hair. You are a hair genius.
I love reading about everyone's hair stories in the comment section too.
This video was very informative.
Thank you so much for this video! I am definitely low porosity
My joy! Thanks for watching!
Good stuff 😁 great info thx Linwood ,😊
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Linwood, YOU BETTER WEAR THAT HAT!!! It looks great on you. Thank you for the info!! I do believe I’m low to normal porosity. The info you provided is very helpful. Be Blessed
Such a pleasure! Thank you for watching dear!
Aint he wearing it!
I’m still confused on what porosity my hair is! I have curly to wavy hair, but I have a relaxer so I’m sure that changes the type and it’s starting to matte easily and knots on my strands after perming. It gets tangled while washing my hair. I know that my hair takes a long time to dry after washing under hair dryer. And my hair is dry all the time! That’s all I got!
Very Informative Linwood 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Do you have any recommendations to the exact types of deep conditioners or leave in conditioners which are good for high porosity hair that is curly? I appreciate you.
