    The demo with the blinds to describe the cuticle layer and the differences between low, medium, and high porosity was brilliant! And the use of body heat for high porosity hair when deep conditioning just saved me from buying a steam cap! It never occurred to me that since the cuticle scales (those are the things that open and close on the cuticle) are already open I don't need to blast it with outside heat, either wet or dry, to get moisture into the shaft. Also the explanation on using apple cider vinegar mixed with water gave me an "a ha" moment: now I know why my hair (high) feels so soft and smooth when rinsing with that concoction. I knew I loved your channel for a reason! I learn so much from watching.

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  4 роки тому +98

      Grey has a tendency to be coarse or wiry, its part of it's composition. White hair tends to be much more delicate though. A hair steamer is an excellent way to get more moisture in, make sure that when styling you opt for low heat or no heat options, so you don't scorch the hair or cause it to yellow. Violet shampoos can help with removing mild yellowing, but not extreme cases.

    This video was E X T R E M E L Y helpful and I'm about to download the guide NOW! I have been watching video after video on how to get my daughter's hair to retain moisture. I've spent so much money trying product after product, and you explained her hair to perfection (moisture today, dry tomorrow, the tangling,ect.) and now I know I've been a horrible natural hair mother 😆. Everything you said NOT to do to high porosity hair I've done to hers because I didn't know!😧
    Hopefully now with this information I can help sis out, because she love love loves her curls, but I haven't let her wear them because I've been torturing to poor things 🤦🏽‍♀️
    Thank you so much, and thank you from my daughter and her curls too. This video saved the life of many curls today. 😄❤

    Hi Linwood. I recently came across your channel (for the second time I think) a few months ago and it has been a huge blessing. I now know how to properly keep my type 4 hair moisturized and my curls popping easily even in dry weather. I'm even giving hair advice : ). Your content is fantastic, I'm grateful you chose to share your knowledge and expertise. Thank you. God bless you and your lovely family.

    Hi Linwood! Waiting for a video on scalp health, dealing with dandruff and scabs. That would be great!

    • @user-lenise876

      Hi Elizabeth. I had a serious scalp issue and was using all kinds of medicated shampoos and scalp treatments. I had scabs around the hairline, especially at the front. I eventually moved from the area I was living and could no longer go to my usual, salon so I had to change salon. The first thing I noticed at this new salon was that these ladies never put their fingers into their products, they sanitized a lot...comb dropped on the floor and it was sanitized. Client leaves the chair its sanitized. Well 2 months after going there I had the most healthy scalp to this day...13 years later. I tell this story to everyone with scalp issues. Look into your environment to see if there is anything you can change.....unless its internal.

    First of all Linwood, I want to thank you for doing such a thoroughly video on hair porosity. Neither again will I watch another UA-camr trying to explain this. I don't want to hear or see another water test to determine your hair porosity. This video is informative and educational of explaining this topic 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 .I wish another person try to do a video on this because they are surely going to get a thumbs down👎🏿.I have heard this from a licensed cosmetologist and teacher do I know better. I don't have to take information from an amateur anymore but I have a professional who knowswhat they are talking about. Thanks you again @❤

      How to fix it

    • @kristinamoire
      @kristinamoire 3 роки тому +6

      @@saja2981 I don't think there is a way to fix it per se, it's more of working with it. When I shampoo my hair I use neutralizing shampoo for the first wash. My hair is silky and zero tangles no matter how much I manipulate it, then I do a second wash with regular shampoo to get it clean. I also use products that are PH balanced like Aphogee, take my time, keep the hair in one direction and make sure it's detangled (finger comb+ prayer hands method) before rinsing at every step. **Very important***
      Also helps to completely detangle my hair to the scalp before washing; spend a good 10-15 minutes combing it out beforehand. Hope that helps. Also, moisturize/seal regularly, wear a satin bonnet at night. Listen to your hair, love it, have passion for taking care of it💕

      I agree with you, so helpful. I’m the one that feels like oh dear all seem to apply. I particularly appreciated the explanation of how shampoos can change our hair Parasity in addition to how we care for our hair. I was listening while on the go so I plan to sit down and really listen to this video and learn a few things as I just did a chop and this is a great opportunity to really learn my hair better. ( I was natural and hair went from full to thin back and forth) .
