I made this video because I am so tired of seeing all these hair challenge videos, especially ones that are bad for your health, when there are easier and healthier ways to get your hair to grow faster and retain more length.
I am a licensed cosmetologist and cosmetology instructor, so I understand much more about the science, practice, and makeup of hair, and I want to share that information with you. It is my prayer that you find this information to be valuable and that you see the amazing results with implementing these simple haircare steps in your regimen. Grow Hair fast:
1. Low Heat or No Heat.
2. Stretch out perm retouches. Overlap chemicals cause breakage.
3. Avoid lighter color hair dyes. They are more damaging.
4. Invest in quality shampoo and conditioner. This increases moisture balance. Number one cause of breakage is dry hair.
5. Let Conditoner sit in 3-5 minutes.
6. Deep conditioning- sit under dryer. It pushes it deep into the hair. Do once a month.
7. Keep hair hydrated. Drink water.
8. Eat a healthy vitamin-rich diet.
9. Use a plant-based vitamin.
10. Do a scalp massage. It increases blood flow to the scalp. Helps it grow.
Use the meat part of your finger, not the nails.
11. Use a moisturizing leave-in or detangler.
12. Use a soft brush - buy the denman brush that massages the scalp and is gentle on our hair.
13. Hair balls or frizzy ends means you need a trim.
14. Stay away from products that contain alcohol. It dries out the hair. Limit its use!
15. Never apply heat on dirty hair. You are baking dirt into your hair and causes build up.
16. Sleep on Satin - bonnet or pillow. Stack hair on top of head and cover to help keep the style.
You are welcome!!! 😊
I absolutely ❤my denman brush! 4C hair.
Thank you
Omg your daughter wanting to take a picture stole my heart.
😊😊❤️ Thank you kindly dear! 😊❤️
@Candice Wynter Haha! I feel! I wish you the best of luck on your journey and a safe and easy pregnancy. ❤️

Thanks so much for watching!
@@GetGlamFam God bless you for this free consultation. Cheers from Ghana. 🇬🇭🤗🙏🏾
That's one of the things I love and appreciate also. He's such a good teacher!
Amen
Especially about trimming! I haven't had my hair trimmed in YEARS for fear that they'll insist on CUTTING, EDGING with a razor, etc. I went to NAPPS in St. Louis after I went all-natural and said I assume I need a trim, and she looked at it and said, no, the ends look fine! But I'm in Indiana now...
Finally, someone who is professional not entertaining the random bs on UA-cam
Thanks for watching!
Love that you said growth ain’t about putting “magical coochie” cream on your scalp. That’s why I tune into you & wife. I’m here for the realness. 😆
I’m glad you enjoy it cuz it’s not going anywhere! 😂😂
😭😭😭😭he keeps it all the way real 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I fell out @ coochie cream😁😂🤣
Okay, I thought that's what he said but wasn't sure. 😅
I will never understand how people say "I don't drink water." That is CRAZY. We are made of water!
True true true lol
Girl I know their kidneys are working overtime too!
If I’m made of it why I gotta drink it?!? 🤔🤔🤔
@@ayoogunleye5507 Because you NEED it.
@@neicylove769 I didnt even bother to answer that mess, lol. Let them go without water for a while and see exactly why we need it! 😩😂😂
Heat on dirty hair= Ironing a dirty shirt. And THAT'S FACTS.
Toy Dubz amen!!
well.. you could throw a shirt out and buy a new one but the hair on my heaf is sacred 😅
Lol valid point there!
@@SensitiveSage lol, true that! I just meant it had the same effect as a ironing dirty clothes, fibers get all stiff, singed, break apart, etc! But I get it sis, I REALLY love my my hair now that I'm 41 and found out there is some female pattern baldness in my family ! 😩😂
@@Toywins You don't just need female baldness in the family. Menopause delivers "Male pattern baldness" too. As if it's not fun enough! My hair is down to about quarter what it was with bald patches all over the place. At 50, it absolutely shatters the self confidence. Of course most of the baldness is at the front hair line so totally obvious.
I have tips. When your hair hits shoulder length, wear it up most of the time. Sometimes when hair hits shoulder length it rubbing against clothing at the shoulders will break the hair. This is especially true in winter when we are wearing sweaters and coats. And watch out for static. It can catch hair and your hair may break when you pull it away, like off of clothing. Finally, get a humidifier. It is good for hair and skin. Thanks for this video. You were very very helpful.
Excellent tips!! 😊😊 Thanks boo!
....or just leave it down and wear a silk or satin scarf around your nap and shoulders
@@-love-life3267 over a coat...???
I love all of these tips. I’ve been walking around the house with a satin scarf around my shoulder bc my hair is finally hanging on my shoulders in the back but it is still too short to “put up”. I live in an arid climate and very cold winters (although this year it has been mild. Only have reached -3 degrees). Ugh, I deep condition once a week but this last wash day I saw an increase in breakage so I’m thinking I may need to deep condition twice a week while it’s dry AND cold. I also usually drink 2-3 Liters of water a day but this past week I have slacked...big time. The humidifier! Why didn’t I think of that!? I’m getting it ASAP!
Yes, you can wear the satin or silk scarf over a coat or anything. Use the scarf as a barrier between other scarfs, colllars and hoodies. I live in the Chi. My clients get the middle breakage when they don’t make a satin barrier between their hair and cotton, or wool materials. The winter months are dry, steaming with a moisturizing conditioner and a little oil of your choice is good too. Also make sure of what’s actually breaking your hair. Stress, medication or low porosity, among other things could be the reason.
That little girl stole the show 😻💕
Low manipulation, and rice water.
She is so beautiful
Your daughters smile is like sunshine!

I'm a licensed esty (20 years) and I appreciate when a pro TEACHES!! This video is awesome!! So tired of these videos from folk who never discuss nutrition or hydration just product. I learned some things too...thank you.😁🥰
I’m so happy that you found it to be educational! Also, Thank you! I feel like often when I mention nutrition & water intake as it pertains to my skin & hair, that’s the part no one wants to hear! It’s the part they have complete control over, but requires the most discipline.
Nerissa, thank you, I stop buying a lot of products about two years ago when due to a medical condition I have to drink at least 72 oz of water a day (I drink about 96), I have always hated water but after I started drinking it, my hair went crazy. I have never had hair bra length before, more like ear length lol! But since I have been drinking so much water, my hair my nails are growing like a weed, I hate long nails and now have to trim mine every week, staying hydrated is a BIG plus.
Is hydration most important when using a deep Conditioner? @GlamFam Hair & Beauty
@@GetGlamFam I hear you! No people don't want to hear about water and nutrition because they (we) have been taught to believe that sweet drinks, convenient processed foods (which are void of nutrition) advertised in commercials are equal to or even better than water and natural food. We develop an addiction to the 'poison' drinks/foods and end up with a ton of other things: diabetes, stomach issues, weight (oh, the weight) gain acne skin, fatty liver, and the list goes on, you know the rest of the story.
If water and nutrition weren't so vital and important to sustain and maintain a healthy body/life then soda would fall from the sky and gummy fish would be in our rivers' oceans. Brought to you by Mars Candy, Keebler, and Nabisco, thank you but no thank you very much
As you said, it takes discipline and it is a process that starts in the mind. If we stop eating the commercials and drinking the jingles that go along with them we would be a helluva lot healthier and happier.
All the best to everyone!
I agree.
Your hair advice is always on point. Just using your tips for the last 6+ months, my daughter and my hair is much more healthy and the length is noticeable. EVERYONE in your family has BEAUTIFUL hair as proof of your knowledge. Also, the 2 camera angle is excellent. Send Allison and the girls love from us in Massachusetts! I did my relaxer 3 to 4 times a year, my hair grew like WILDFIRE. My new growth was always soft. I transitioned so slow, my natural hair is now the same length as when I started going natural! 😩😂
Please tell me,how you keep your new growth soft.I usually have my hair Jherri -curl,but obviously we all have the new growth-two textured problem.
I decided to get a relaxer and my hair is thriving. it's longer and breaks less than when I was natural.

That’s why I decided to go natural I may have overrelaxed my hair overtime and it became thinner and I lost my edges because of tight ponytails. Now am struggling with regrowing my edges. Your tips are really helping. Started my natural journey mid last year.

Excellent video! So many useful tips packed into it. Thank you sooo VERY much, Linwood. Love your channel.
Luv GlamFam videos, in addition to them being very informative, they are also very 'little people' friendly. You allow your daughters to be themselves and be included in your videos. It's like we are visiting your home and the girls just decided to pop in to say hello and see who you are talking to, once satisfied they go on their merry way to play somewhere else. 💛

Over 1 month in from a big chop. Hurt my heart, my hair is long and thick. However, had some damage. Already see a great difference. I have an opportunity to care, for my hair better.

Thank you for this video! The most helpful tips were you breaking down moisture and protein, using a cooler temp water for conditioner, utilizing a leave-in conditioner, massaging the scalp frequently with care, the reminder about nutrition, being aware of drying ingredients, applying heat on dirty hair.. whew, I learned alot lol! TIPS THAT I LOVED ...
1. LEAVE CONDITIONER IN YOUR HAIR WHILE YOU ARE EXFOLIATING AND WASHING YOUR BODY.
2. LOW TEMPERATURE WATER WHEN WASHING THE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER OUT OF YOUR HAIR.
3. LOW HEAT WHEN FLAT IRONING YOUR HAIR AND ONLY USE FLAT IRON ON CLEAN HAIR... OR YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE SOME PROBLEMS HUNTY😁
4. SATIN LINED BEANIE TO SLEEP IN 🥰

This video was informative and a great refresher on hair care fundamentals, thank you!! Do you have any tips on maintaining the moisture balance for natural hair that is grey and resistant to color?
Linwood, you are such a great dad! Every time I watch you are so gentle and loving with them and such a lovely wife. Just a great family.
thank you especially for the breakage, comb, and trim tips
I’m combing out my locs and preparing for my loose natural journey. I’m so happy to have found you because ALL MY LIFE IVE HAD TO FIGHT!
I hope the videos prove helpful! Thanks for watching!
This was right on time, I’ve felt stuck at TBL for quite a while and I’m sure I need to reevaluate my hair care routine. I straightened it last month (thank da Lawd there’s no heat damage 😂) but I only straighten it and use heat once a year around my birthday in January. I gave myself an ApHogee 2-step protein treatment and a moisturizing deep conditioner. I also gave myself a good trim! Maybe an inch or more.....I’m still at tbl so hopefully I’ll start to see more growth from here. I want ALL. THE. GROWTH!!!
For the last few years specifically, I’ve been a serial protective styler. My hair spends about 90% of the time in two braids that I try to keep in buns. Buuuuuut that’s more because I’m hair-lazy. I still try to take very good care of my hair.
I love ApHogee Deep Moisture shampoo. Where I am it costs $8 for a16oz bottle.....give or take (?). It’s more expensive than the cheap ones you mentioned but it’s not going to break the bank. I’ve used it for years and it’s one of the few products that my hair hasn’t “gotten used to”. It’s also one of the very few shampoos I’ve experienced that never strips the hair but still leaves it feeling very clean. I’ve always used the shampoo/conditioner/shower routine but again...that’s because I’m lazy! Good to know that it’s beneficial lol.
As for brushes...Goody has a shower brush with extremely soft and flexible bristles. I go between that and the Tangle Teaser brush (with the handle). The Goody one works best when my hair isn’t overly tangled. I sometimes use that one to do an initial detangle, then follow up with a medium toothed comb. I’ve tried finger detangling several times and I just don’t feel it’s for me. That said...I am very gentle when I comb so I don’t see breakage or extreme shedding even when using a comb.
This video was very helpful!!! Most of these steps I already follow so it was good to be reassured. I truly believe it helped me go from about 2 inches to TBL in a matter of 4 years. It was my 2nd big chop because LAWD knows I did wayyyyyyy too damn much the 1st time. I mean bleaching and coloring VERY often, heat more times than I should’ve and not protective styling enough...even though I feel that part is up to the individual. Some people can grow their hair out to long lengths while wearing it out most of the time. Me? I’m lazy sooooo that’s a lot of work.
Clearly the running theme in my hair life....is laziness 🤔🤷🏻♀️😂
I used to use Vo5 & Suave because of the price and the scent so you were speaking to me. I will be changing my Shampoo thanks.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!

Video Review: No heat or low heat, leave conditioner, protective styles, moisture, dark colors rinses, perm once a year, and trimming, and invest in quality shampoo and conditioner (high quality), keep the conditioner in your hair over 3 to 5 five minutes, deep conditioner with moisture and protein once a month, stay hydrated, scalp massage, detangler, comb or brush hair gently or comb from the ends/bottom, stay away from alcohol products in your hair, never flat iron or ceramic on dirty hair, sleep on satin or silk bonnet, and eat healthy.

Knowledge Well. I love what you do. Beautiful babies. Beautiful hair. I am learning so much in a short amount of time. Definitely putting all of this to good use for my people with the utmost professionalism.
Hey Lin, thanks for the hair growing tips. Let's grow! I would like to request a video on what you think about & the science on natural home remedies like rice water & onion juice & is the sulphur in onions the same as what the sulphur grease has? I have relaxed hair & I've heard several UA-camrs talking about a bond builder called Olaplex that's quite expensive, I use protein conditioner after relaxing I like. Is Olaplex similar & is there cheaper products that build bonds and is it good to add on hair after relaxing? Thank you so much.
Olaplex is very expensive, i would just say that you invest in a very good conditioner rather. I too am relaxed and I found that using ORS replenishing conditioner after my relaxer has really helped me
What I learned in yet another very informative video of yours:
1. The difference between perms and relaxers 😯. That would've save me from the big chop probably.
2. Bleached hair need more protein also instead of just conditioner. Minimum once a month is is shorter than I would've ever guessed.
3. There is a thing called a Sebaceous gland and it basically gets the nutrients out our body and into the hair.
Last but Definitely not least: Zalina will for ever make me giggle like someone surprise goosed me from behind. ☺️
Another awesome video!! 🙌🏾

Ok so conditioning/deep conditioning always stumps me. My hair is natural (meaning no relaxer...about 4 years now) but Is heat trained. My stylist deep conditions my hair every 2 weeks and that seems to be working fine for me, however my 12 year old daughter is natural (never had a relaxer) but she’s experienced some breakage so we’re trying to get this hair thing under control. I realized after watching your video that I had been using leave-in conditioner in place of conditioner which I will stop doing. So how often should I deep condition her hair?
I love how you can give shade and educate at the same time. Question: after wearing braids what should be the hair routine? And does sitting under a heating cap a good thing?
Yes, plastic caps help seal in moisture esp when under a dryer or in the shower
