Lol hair type is so confusing to me. I still can’t grasp it. I hear girls saying 4a 3r 5c and i stay so confused lol don’t ask me what kinda hair I have, don’t make me lie, I’ll say LMNOP in the back and QRST in the front 😅
ABSOLUTELY the BEST explanation of the hair typing system that I have heard! I am probably 3c to 4a, but I agree with you regarding type 4c hair: 4c hair texture, in my opinion, will be the most beautiful of all of the hair textures when it gets a lot of length on it (not that it isn't beautiful short, you will just be able to see it in its full glory long). By the way, I LOVE your shirt! 😊
I’m unable to film anything like that currently, as I am still social distancing. But I do have a visual illustration of the hair types in my haircare guide. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, the link is in the description box and the top pinned comment. 😊
Can't wait! All my children's hair looked similar to your texture but now it's starting to look really dry. I want to drive to Texas when this quarantine is over to pay you to fix their hair.
Someone at a salon told me I have 4B hair....in my heart I feel I know I have 4C hair...I do not think I will ever figure it out. However, I just made up my mind to just try and do the best I can with the smallest resources that I have to keep my hair as healthy possible.
I am glad you are my hair teacher now. Early on after big chop I realized twists don't hold my hair together unless I do braids. I got confused thinking my hair is 4c 'cos it shrinks about 80-85%. Now that it's growing out (heading to 3 years), I see a zigzag 〰️〰️ pattern after I've washed and conditioned my hair. So my hair is 4B then.
I always find it amazing how one head (mine) can have so many different curl patterns. It's 3c to 4c. When it comes on to wearing my hair out, it tends to fall more in those looser textures (back and front) and shrink all the way for the tighter ones (temples) lol. It also tangles easily because of this, so I just wear it twisted most of the time.
Thank you for the lesson. Do you have a doctorate in hair? I can believe that you have been doing this since you were a child. You obviously love it. Everything is turned upside down. No matter the topic, your videos always leave me with some knowledge and a smile.
Honestly, your explanation is much better than most I have come across. I learned alot. I have biracial daughters: the oldest 13 years has 3C to 4A and the young one 6 years has 4A/B. I have a hard time getting the best hair products for the young one because her hair is dryer.
Please don't hate me, but hes waaay better than Brad Mondo. Id pick him first everytime! He deserves a bigger platform. I can't believe he doesn't have a lot more subscribers. Y'all sleeping on this amazing person! ❤❤❤
🖤your channel has really taught me how to love my natural hair ,I'm so thankful for you I'm 15 and ever since I was little I thought putting in weves and straighten my hair was proper, thank you.
I really love you. Your videos are soooo clear and concise, you don’t ramble or get off point. You stick to the subject matter and that truly is what holds my interest. I could listen to you all day!! This particular video was so informative keep them coming👏👏👏👍👍👍
My hair looked like a 2c 4 years ago. My hair was relaxed and flat ironed all the time. It is a solid 3b pattern today. It has been a journey and videos from channels like this one have helped.
I’m relatively new to your channel but oh man, I can’t believe this GREAT content is free! I’ve been struggling with my daughters hair so much because her hair is so different than mine. I knew she was type 4 hair but wasn’t sure which letter she was because there is so much misinformation online. I’m saying all this to say that I finally know my baby is type 4c hair and I’m going to try to find products that work for her!! Straight to the point, easy to understand, and charismatic! Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts, it’s definitely appreciated 💗
This video (after watching a couple of your other ones) just made me subscribe. You explained that so well and it didn't take you hours to do so. Your presence is also captivating. Thank you for the education and tips!!!!
Wooow you took us to church on this one. The points about the moisture on the face and gravity defying hair were true gems! I’m just now getting into hair typing and porosity and I knew to come straight to your channel. As usual you did NOT disappoint. Peace and blessings always❤
I am a mother of a mixed daughter with a hair texture completely different than mine. This is a major learning process and you have been the most helpful hands down with explaining hair types, products to use and how to corn row. Thank you so much for being clear and concise.
THANK YOU!! I’m so glad you said your hair texture because it’s the same as my husband and I guessed he is mostly type 3C, while our oldest son is 3B and blonde/very thick and youngest is 3A brunette but it’s very fine. They all have shoulder length so your videos have been very helpful ❤
Omg! Yet another video that has truly helped me! Based on what you've explained, I now know I have 4b hair. I do not have a distinctive curl pattern and twists do not stay in my hair at all. It's awesome for braiding.
I now know I have 2C hair. Thank you so much because people tend to think any "textured" shape is a curl, but my hair is a flat S shape and it does not spiral like a true curl.
I’ve always struggled with my natural hair, but watching you and Afope I now how the confidence and knowledge to take care of my hair properly so thank you!
Thank you so much😢. I am 52 years old a mother of 6 and grandmother to 11 blessing, and I just learned that 4B is my hair texture thanks to you! Tied Braids can last in my hair but curls and twist don’t usually stay. I have been on a 5 year natural hair journey. It has been a terrible and an emotional journey. I can not tell you the things that I’ve been told about my hair which mostly have been completely unhelpful. For many years at the recommendation of hairstylist I have gone from having straighteners, to what I was told reverse straightener, to a blowout, to hair loss, to hair thinning until I finally stopped going to any stylist and decided to go natural. It was a war with my hair the first 2 years.I’ve done nothing to my hair except deep conditioning, hot oil treatments, self given trims every 4-6 months and just babied it. It started growing! Yet now, my body is going through some ‘natural changes’ and now my hair is in distress again and falling out. I have downloaded your hair guide and will watch the rest of your videos to learn. You my dear are a blessing to me and all who get to see your videos. In tears of hopefulness and gladness I Sincerely SAY THANK YOU! Your gift of hair knowledge blesses us all. God bless you and your beautiful family.
Hi Linwood, I wanted to thank you sooooo much for sharing your knowledge on hair. I’m on my first ever hair journey and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing lol. I look forward to your videos because of the detailed explanations and examples you provide for a beginner such as myself. Keep em comin. Stay blessed 🙏🏼
Omg..... you are not lying. I have type 3 something hair. And my skin is so oily and when I was younger very acne prone meanwhile hair was dry as hell. Live your videos hun. So informative.........
I would love to see you do a video on type 2 hair. So many of us have no idea on where we fall in that area. Waves to curl and what to use mostly are about type 3 or 4 on the internet. I’m not finding type 2 and it’s ranges of dos and dimes. Please consider a video on this topic. Thank you so much love your channel
Linwood, I just found your channel. I’m now a subscriber! This is the best explanation and overview I’ve come across for hair types and appropriate product! 3a/b, Colombian/Irish girl over here who has been desperate to have someone explain all of this! Well done and congrats!
Thank you for the props it makes me understand you better with a visual. Yes my hair is like mannequin number 2.. Very confusing some of my hair is curly some is wavy.... I love cream everything. Liquids are fine. But i don't feel like it is doing anything..
The only thing that you can do to improve this presentation would be to have diagrams or pics of real women who may be on camera with you. I love your content. You have become my hair Guru. Thanks and much love from Canada
Thank God for you!! Thank you soooo much. I'm graduating from cosmetology school in one month and they do not teach you as much as you teach me this . Your videos are very informative and inspiring. Thank you for sharing this information 🙏🏾
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I always knew I had different hair types on my head, but you helped me understand about what I need to do to moisturize AND style it better! I also always wondered why I had a bangin’ Afro in the 70’s (would get it cut/styled at a barber shop) and never thought I had curly hair now I see I have curls!
Thank you so much. I have SUPER FINE, SUPER COILY,SUPER DRY HAIR. You are the only you tuber that touches on my type if hair. We have been left out for so long. I've been natural for a few years and almost put a relaxer on my hair to get some sort of control. Thank you again 🥰 I appreciate your help. In a New subscribers now. And looking forward to finding out more for fine, coily dry natural hair.
Yes! I finally a found video that explains hair types so well. I’m so glad I found your channel I’m learning so much from you and the fact you’re all around is all I need because with in my household we have all curly hair between type 2 to type 4 so I’m always buying products 😅 and just can’t find the right ones. Thank you
I finally have some understanding about my hair type. After listening to your video I believe that I am type 2B with fine hair. Knowing which products to use on my hair? Always been a challenge. However, the mystery is over and I am happy indeed. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge and your videos to help me and all of us be Glam.
Wooowww.. this explains a lot! I had locs for nearly 20 years and i loved them. Years ago, my young daughter too, wanted locs so i got them done for her. However, no matter what, her hair wouldnt really stay in the loc. It always stayed super fuzzy and unkempt looking. Now MY hair took awhile to loc initially (a year or so i guess) but stayed a lot better than hers did between re twists. She must have 4B hair. While i must have 4a. Thx for this thoughtful and thorough lesson!👌🏾
Thank you for explaining this so wonderfully as you do all the time! Not sure if you did a video on humidity but, I love to see your take on how to get thru humidty without really frizzy hair. Thank you.
Linwood, U are amazing! U just summed up a conundrum that I have been trying to piece together for a while - U are a Hair Guru! Thank you for this video, it answered quite a bit of my questions 💯😎👏🏽🙏
Are you all about natural hair Only???? I just found you while looking at the Tessica (glue girl) Brown video. I'm glad I came across you. Out of all my 40yrs of doing hair I don't recall any 1,2,3, or4a..b..c hair type until here resently. So Andre started it....huh.....thanks for sharing. You're very informative. Much needed and appreciated. I like your attitude.
Thanks so very much for watching! I’m all about healthy hair so I touch on natural hair quite a bit. I cover all hair types though, as I am a cosmetology teacher by trade. 🙏🏽❤️
I Just found you today. I have a relaxer and have for most of my life. I’m over 50. I’d love to see content on relaxers and how we fall into scheme of all these subjects you speak of. Proper moisturizer/shampoo, etc@@GetGlamFam
Oh my lort. You have given me so much information. I appreciate you and your wife. Disclaimer: I’ve been watching your videos for 4 hours now. ❤️❤️❤️Thanks
Thank you for the clarification on the styling options. I tried locking and twists without good results or growth. I've been braiding for several months since I'm working from home and my hair has grown and I'm just wanting a longer braid.now.
Thanks for the explanation. As best as I can tell, I'm 3C/4A with low porosity hair because I took that water test (it floated) and my hair takes a loooooong time to dry. It also looks shiny and curly wet, but gets super dry when dry. I'm still learning about my hair and therefore, ways to make it the best it can be.
I have low porosity hair and it's hard to wet, but it doesn't take long to dry and I've heard this a lot about low porosity hair taking a long time to dry. Question... Is your hair fine, medium or coarse? I'm just trying to figure out these rules...
I must say that I like the way you break it all down although it is a lot of information to process I'm really trying to follow you. My hair is probably 2a, 3 ,4b or c. I know this a process as it has already been a long one since I transitioned so I am greatly for this time.
Love this video and all the information you shared here! I consider myself to be like 2b-3a but it seems like everyone has a different interpretation of what each curl type actually is
OMG, thank you for being so detailed I know I'm a type 4 but wasn't 100% on which one, I may be 4b to 4c I will look closer when I wash my hair. But thank you for being so detailed
I think I have mostly 4b with 4a sprinkled in the mix because it’s TOTALLY different it sticks out from the other strands and it’s really fine. I’m going to watch ALL the videos.
Wow! You are so easy to understand and follow. Your presentation is organized, stays on the point and is filled with all the pertinent information plus some I didn’t know I needed. Thank you!!
Love this video Linwood, you broke down the hair typing system in such a clear and concise manner. Thank you for educating us. From a London subscriber
I'm pretty sure I said in response to your last hair educational video something to the effect of your information being the best of the best yet you've managed to top that. Thank you soooo much!! I've got to share this with my sister.
Yaaaasssszzz Linwood, always coming with the hair knowledge. You said two things I'd love to see you unpack. 1)You mentioned silicones for sealing the hair. Silicones. Why do naturals oppose them? 2) 4B hair strands don't work well with twists or braids? did I hear that correctly? If not, Why??? mind blown. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤪🤔. Would love to hear/see more about that! Thank you for your work!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋✌✌✌✌✊✊✊
I have never really known where my hair pattern falls into and I'm nearly 43! I think i may have worked it out after watching this video. My hair is very curly when wet, i have fine hair always has been that way. I use Cantu shampoo/Conditioner, and while very wet from a fresh wash i use ORS Curls Unleased to lock in that moisture/Cantu pomade with naturel olive oil for hair and skin. I combed it through and will braid it in four big plaits and leave it to dry, ready to stle for the next day. From what you have shown, i think my hair is 4A with a little bit of 4B because when it's in fully dry condition my hair can have a slight zig zag pattern. I have never had to spray my hair with water before styling daily, my products cant be heavy as it will weigh my hair down and i'll look like a drowned rat!

Lol hair type is so confusing to me. I still can’t grasp it. I hear girls saying 4a 3r 5c and i stay so confused lol don’t ask me what kinda hair I have, don’t make me lie, I’ll say LMNOP in the back and QRST in the front 😅
Thank you for the information.. my hair has 2-3 hair textures
I Love Professional Shade !!! Your a Master at it...
If you are here early, *HEY BOO!* This video goes live Thursday at noon CST and I will be in the chat! Can't wait to chat with you all! Linwood
Me liking before the premiere starts cause I already know the vid gonna be fire.
Aww thank you! 😊🙏🏽
Loll i do the same ☺
Same haha!
And that’s on “however (comma) space” 👏🏾👏🏾
right
ABSOLUTELY the BEST explanation of the hair typing system that I have heard! By the way, I LOVE your shirt! 😊
All hair styles are just as beautiful and shouldn’t be compared :)
I’d love to have dedicated videos for each hair type. With examples with models if possible. I trust your content. Thanks.
I’m unable to film anything like that currently, as I am still social distancing. But I do have a visual illustration of the hair types in my haircare guide. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, the link is in the description box and the top pinned comment. 😊
Now I know why my hair won't stay twisted no matter the size or tightness of the twist. I love you boo. Thanks.
My pleasure! God bless!
I love your voice it’s so calming !
Thank you kindly!
Definitely sounds like 4b! I hope the video helped!
I got all 4s and a tiny bit of 3c in my hair. It's weird 😅
Wow this is an education thanks
My absolute pleasure!
Honestly, your explanation is much better than most I have come across. I learned alot. I have biracial daughters: the oldest 13 years has 3C to 4A and the young one 6 years has 4A/B. I have a hard time getting the best hair products for the young one because her hair is dryer.

I love them both ❤
THANK YOU I TOTALLY agree!!
Brad is good but he does way way too many “reacts” videos rather than more education.
That makes sense why the front of my hair (3c) always wants to unravel from twists and the back (4a) is just fine...
This broke things down so well. I’ve been hella confused on my hair type. Thank you!!
🖤your channel has really taught me how to love my natural hair ,I'm so thankful for you I'm 15 and ever since I was little I thought putting in weves and straighten my hair was proper, thank you.

I Just found you today. I have a relaxer and have for most of my life. I’m over 50. I’d love to see content on relaxers and how we fall into scheme of all these subjects you speak of. Proper moisturizer/shampoo, etc@@GetGlamFam
Thank you, I wasn’t able to make sense out of my hair type and my mom wasn’t any help, bless her heart ❤️
Oh my lort. You have given me so much information. I appreciate you and your wife.
Disclaimer: I’ve been watching your videos for 4 hours now. ❤️❤️❤️Thanks
I love what you do so much! I finally understand what I always wondered.
OMG, finally I get it! Thank you so much for explaining it so well!
Thank you am getting a better understanding of hair types!
A lot of information, but worth it, especially explaining why, Black don't Crack. Wonderful, 😊 you.
I must say that I like the way you break it all down although it is a lot of information to process I'm really trying to follow you. My hair is probably 2a, 3 ,4b or c. I know this a process as it has already been a long one since I transitioned so I am greatly for this time.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on afro hair and hair in general with us ! I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😌
Ahhh this helped me figure out my older sisters hairtype which is 4b and 4a i am 4c
Love this video and all the information you shared here! I consider myself to be like 2b-3a but it seems like everyone has a different interpretation of what each curl type actually is
I thank you so much for explaining and educating us about hair. We finally got the truth. I love you 😍😍😍
OMG, thank you for being so detailed I know I'm a type 4 but wasn't 100% on which one, I may be 4b to 4c I will look closer when I wash my hair. But thank you for being so detailed
OMG....you are an excellent teacher ! I love your content and delivery.
This is the most detailed video! Thx 4 sharing!
I just wish you had some pictures I'm a visual learner but still a lot of useful information thanks
I included pictures in my free haircare guide, the link to download it is in the description box 😊👍🏽
@@GetGlamFam thanks for letting know I will check it out
I think I have mostly 4b with 4a sprinkled in the mix because it’s TOTALLY different it sticks out from the other strands and it’s really fine. I’m going to watch ALL the videos.
This is excellent information! I did not know the oil from my scalp was being transferred on my face! That explains a lot! Thanks sir!
I absolutely thought I had 4c hair until just now.... WOW!!! So informative.. Thank you GlamFam!!!!
Hey Linwood! Waiting in St. Louis!
Hey there! I look forward to seeing you in the chat!
I'm pretty sure I said in response to your last hair educational video something to the effect of your information being the best of the best yet you've managed to top that. Thank you soooo much!! I've got to share this with my sister.
Thanks for clarifying the different types.
This is great! I've been a subscriber for at least a year and still learned something from this video.
I love that you did this. This help so much
I have never really known where my hair pattern falls into and I'm nearly 43!
