    Hair typing is not the end all be all, that is why I did not utilize my time in this video to go into extreme specifics of what each pattern looks like. I do have visual examples available in my haircare guide, if you need.
    The purpose of Hair Typing is to allow you to more easily know the capabilities of your hair based on coil pattern. Your curl type also can indicate how much moisture needs to be supplemented into the hair. It is my professional opinion that too many people put too much bearing on curl pattern, and not enough on porosity, density, and texture.

    ABSOLUTELY the BEST explanation of the hair typing system that I have heard! I am probably 3c to 4a, but I agree with you regarding type 4c hair: 4c hair texture, in my opinion, will be the most beautiful of all of the hair textures when it gets a lot of length on it (not that it isn't beautiful short, you will just be able to see it in its full glory long). By the way, I LOVE your shirt! 😊

    I always find it amazing how one head (mine) can have so many different curl patterns. It's 3c to 4c. When it comes on to wearing my hair out, it tends to fall more in those looser textures (back and front) and shrink all the way for the tighter ones (temples) lol.
    It also tangles easily because of this, so I just wear it twisted most of the time.

  • @Ash3aKosh
    @Ash3aKosh 4 роки тому +9

    That makes sense why the front of my hair (3c) always wants to unravel from twists and the back (4a) is just fine...

    I am glad you are my hair teacher now. Early on after big chop I realized twists don't hold my hair together unless I do braids. I got confused thinking my hair is 4c 'cos it shrinks about 80-85%. Now that it's growing out (heading to 3 years), I see a zigzag 〰️〰️ pattern after I've washed and conditioned my hair. So my hair is 4B then.

    Thank you so much😢. I am 52 years old a mother of 6 and grandmother to 11 blessing, and I just learned that 4B is my hair texture thanks to you! Tied Braids can last in my hair but curls and twist don’t usually stay. I have been on a 5 year natural hair journey. It has been a terrible and an emotional journey. I can not tell you the things that I’ve been told about my hair which mostly have been completely unhelpful. For many years at the recommendation of hairstylist I have gone from having straighteners, to what I was told reverse straightener, to a blowout, to hair loss, to hair thinning until I finally stopped going to any stylist and decided to go natural. It was a war with my hair the first 2 years.I’ve done nothing to my hair except deep conditioning, hot oil treatments, self given trims every 4-6 months and just babied it. It started growing! Yet now, my body is going through some ‘natural changes’ and now my hair is in distress again and falling out. I have downloaded your hair guide and will watch the rest of your videos to learn. You my dear are a blessing to me and all who get to see your videos. In tears of hopefulness and gladness I Sincerely SAY THANK YOU! Your gift of hair knowledge blesses us all. God bless you and your beautiful family.

    Years ago, my young daughter too, wanted locs so i got them done for her. However, no matter what, her hair wouldnt really stay in the loc. It always stayed super fuzzy and unkempt looking.
    Now MY hair took awhile to loc initially (a year or so i guess) but stayed a lot better than hers did between re twists.
    She must have 4B hair. While i must have 4a.

    Thank you so much for this video and the hair guide for us to download. I'm 55-year-old and my hair is exactly like your little daughter Zalina (sorry for the misspelling). Except for the fact that I'm very salt and peppered colored. The gray strands are a challenge to stay hydrated.

    Yaaaasssszzz Linwood, always coming with the hair knowledge. You said two things I'd love to see you unpack. 1)You mentioned silicones for sealing the hair. Silicones. Why do naturals oppose them? 2) 4B hair strands don't work well with twists or braids? did I hear that correctly? If not, Why??? mind blown. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤪🤔. Would love to hear/see more about that! Thank you for your work!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋✌✌✌✌✊✊✊

    Excellent video! This really helped me understand my gray hair. I have abandoned perms and color, and have embraced my natural gray hair. I have been using box braids to allow my hair to rest and grow back to its natural length. It is now shoulder length and I am learning how to wash and maintain my hair. Your videos have taught me alot. I would enjoy more discussion of natural gray hair. I do not have time to mix my own potions for my hair, but there are so many product options. Can you say more about gray hair, please? Thanks!

    I must say that I like the way you break it all down although it is a lot of information to process I'm really trying to follow you. My hair is probably 2a, 3 ,4b or c. I know this a process as it has already been a long one since I transitioned so I am greatly for this time.
