      Good morning Coop!
In your last video you posted "The real price you pay for a brutal divorce" you stated in the video, you didn't know about a G.E.D. Here in the states, a High School drop out can go back and take some classes and major test to get their G.E.D. General Education Diploma And it is viewed and accepted by most employers as a standard high school diploma. Just a little piece of useless knowledge for ya!

Well there's this celebrity named Marie Kondo who has a popular reality show called Tidying Up, it relates to minimalism. Well known Pennsylvania divorce and family law attorney here. This story is not unusual. (Frankly, sometimes the mother is the sane one and the father has serious mental health issues. Same-sex couples can and do also face similar issues).
While this is NOT legal advice, here are a few key takeaways from this informative video that you may wish to consider:
    a) There is an old saying: "The smart man learns from his mistakes, the wiser man learns from the mistakes of others". In this day and age with all of the marriage, relationship and intersexual dynamic information available, there is almost no reason to find yourself in this situation, especially if there are red flags in the beginning. Every case is different. However, having "oneitis" often comes into play in these risky scenarios. Do not ignore red flags. Do not act against your better judgment.
    b) Courts, divorce, and child custody laws can and do vary widely from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Speak to an experienced family law attorney in your jurisdiction BEFORE you live together, BEFORE you propose, BEFORE you order wedding invitations, and BEFORE anyone pays any non-refundable deposits for a wedding. Know your rights and responsibilities BEFOREHAND, in the unfortunate (but common) event that your marriage becomes non-functioning.
    c) People can and do change over time. Even if you could not see any red flags going into a marriage, talk to an experienced family law attorney in your jurisdiction about a prenup (well before the wedding invitations are ordered). Properly done, and depending upon the jurisdiction, a valid prenup may be able to save a ton of time and money in the divorce process.
These comments are NOT legal advice and I am NOT your attorney. Only an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction with whom you have established an attorney-client relationship can give you legal advice.

Jonathan, You probably have the most knowledge of why marriages fail. Continue to comment on your experience. I went through 20 years of marriage, 3 teenage kids and paid enough to by a new Porsche which got me 50/50 custody, NO ALIMONY and division of assets 50/50. She worked in a solid field and I had put a significant amount in savings, etc. There was no debt and kids were on competitive teams, straight A's and church going. I got the best and baddest attorney I could find and it was well worth it. I saved me over $1.9 million yes due to potential 20 years of alimony! Guys get the fact that the woman I fell in love turned into the biggest nightmare. Never again will i enter into a state relationship, have kids (I'm snipped) or co-habitate.

Regarding point (a) I didn't start looking into this stuff until I already had problems. I was fed the fairy tale lies and was duped into marrying a narcissist. I'm in the process of my divorce and she is amping up, but knowing this information definitely helps keep me grounded.

eclipseNF no you’re not. Find a woman that will have your children but doesn’t want to get married. At least the damage in most cases is limited to child support vs having all of your assets at risk. Be careful though in some jurisdictions if they live with you they can go after alimony, even though common law marriage has gone by the wayside.

My ex was borderline and she assaulted me many times. Then she went to court, claimed she was the victim of DV, and the court gave her all she wanted. It took me 3+ years and 28 hours of testimony to force the court to pay attention to reality. Then I got custody of our son. Stay away from borderlines...and from family court.

After 10 days, a woman who I just started dating lost interest in me. I failed 3 shit tests on Wednesday arvo. I am single again. Thank God!
Test 1) She wanted me to buy a horse race ticket of a specific horse and race. She stated that WE could use the winnings for a hotel room in Auckland. We argued 3 times about this. I do not bet.
Test 2) Her car is impounded at the panel beater. She asked how could WE solve that. I said nope!
Test 3) She wanted me to drive to Auckland on Sunday and Monday which is a long weekend and be her taxi. Auckland is a four hour drive each way from home. I said nope!
I cried in my beer for 2 seconds and finally got over her.

      @@marcgrundfest1495 Then we disagree.
My divorce wasn't hard because of money or any other typical issue, but instead because it happened during the recovery process of an organ transplant. The financial aspect was a bargain price of 1,652 $ because I had insisted on a prenup to protect us both due to my chronic condition. Mostly the process was frustrating and stressful due to her trying to get me to agree to ticky tacky little shit: my being at the DMV with her to remove my name from her car title, my paying for lost wages so she can go to the SS office for a name change, and the hilarious attempt to get me to pay for her counseling post divorce, etc. As soon as she floated the "I think I want a divorce" balloon without a hint of a problem or a willingness to go to marriage counseling, I cut off all access to my financial information, called the lawyer, and told her that the lawyer was working on an order of separate maintenance (due to the recovery period of the transplant). My divorce was financially cheap and a pro forma process precisely because I thought ahead and sold the prenup as a means to protect both of us. That she brought up meaningless stuff was simply a distraction to a far important process, but the actual divorce consisted of my exchange e-mails with the associate handling my case (the partner said the prenup made my case easy so he would only work on it if the associate needed his assistance).
In my experience, blanket statement like yours are of little use in the real world because there are always ways to protect oneself. The attorney below provides a solid roadmap to anyone who is considering marriage, but also is not naïve to the realities of the divorce machine.

Coming from a single mother and having to deal with my old lady’s anger fits towards me and my older brother when she would get intoxicated, the usual "you are acting just like your father" line, became a routine growing up....
20 years later I came across this young woman with daddy issues, we've met at church, funny thing is, the pastor even came to me to warned me about her and her difficult childhood growing up
Guys, the way I perceived her at the time, and this is important, to me she was your typical damsel in distress and I had to save her. Looking back, it had a lot to do with my other head doing all the talking.
I now have identical twins, recently diagnosed with spectrum autism. I haven't been able to see them in 10 months because she won't let me see them, per divorce decree, she created these lies about me not being able to spend time with them, I had to work two jobs to make sure they had their medical and a roof to come home to, because of said complaints, this feminine, hippie judge gave her 75% custody.
    These videos helped a ton.

She could make you feel so loved(when it suited her), I came to realise, many years later, that I was in love with a facade she'd created, in the first 6mths of our relationship and continually made excuses for her increasingly bad behaviours. Mine ended bitterly despite my efforts. I wish I had this mentoring in my teens. I hope your finding yourself, increasingly each day and becoming stronger and more comfortable in who you really are. Keep fighting to increase access to your children, don't give up. Prioritise your hobbies and exercise daily. I experienced a similar type of divorce from a similar BPD ex-wife. The experience was terrible, the courts were terrible but after 5 years and I was able to turn the tables on her and win sole custody of my only daughter. It did take me over 10 years to recover financially but I did and now I am living life on my own terms. Just know that it does get better. The courts may come around but don't count on it. Read the book from Richard Kent titled, Solomon's Choice: A Guide to Custody for Ex‑husbands, Spurned Partners, and .... My story is in this book as well. Good luck!

There was no possible way anyone could handle this much damage. We have to get seriously burned to learn it seems.

Unfortunately, I find the term visitation to be very descriptive of the situation. I'm sorry to say that with that little contact with the kids, there isn't a lot you can do for them. Watch carefully, document any problems you see. If the situation is bad enough you might be able to do something, but emotional abuse of the children is hard to prove.
Divorce is a long game. Try to be the best Dad you can, and when the kids are old enough (12 or older) they may come to you to get away from her. Kids are smart, and they will usually be able to figure out if she's spouting BS about you.

Watch out for Co-habitation agreements! I live in Vancouver and was in a relationship with a borderline! Red flags! So had a Co Hab drawn up because she wanted to live with me for 6 months until getting a new place. We broke up! She found a woman lawyer who took the case pro-bono and challenged the co-hab. B.C. ( no surprise ) changed the marriage laws in 2013 to extremely benefit women. You no longer need to live together here to be considered living in a “marriage-like” relationship giving the woman full claim to marriage status. Long story short, I was extorted by the legal process and had to pay her. After smoke cleared I paid out about $150000. And we DID NOT LIVE TOGETHER. B.C. - fucked Up!! My Cohab was well written and done proper with family lawyer - still worthless. Beware in BC. Maybe elsewhere as well

Let me relate to a female interaction I witnessed: Ladies in an IT call center, one collects paper "flowers" and displays them on her desk, from an inmate at a local(i'm guessing) prison. One AF woman says to her, "Girl, aren't there enough losers on the outside you could date?" Lol, we (men) were all cracking up. Sho 'nuf, the AF lady nailed it. Fer Chrissakes, if a marginally (or un) educated woman sees this shit, so should you. See how hypergamy slices through the bs in an instant? Sometimes women are more rational in their choices in a mate than we are.

But that’s all one hell of a mess and wasted years with the situation. Lots of lessons learned here. Wish him all the best. The best learning is learning from other people’s mistakes without you yourself having to go thru the same things and mistakes.

Might as well say that "didn't get a degree" means "couldn't hack it". There are plenty who get one because they can't hack it, but there are also plenty who are rejected by the system for whatever reason. The war on boys is real. 60% of GED recipients are boys, while 60% of college students are female. I don't think those statistics matching so closely is coincidence.
It stands for "General Education Development" and is a test to confirm you know the equivalent of what is required to finish secondary (high) school. There are similarly named tests in Canada and some states have a different test.

And did 5 years in the army with the most dangerous guys you can dream off without ever feeling I had to look any door. (baracks, truck, glovebox, locker, etc....) But, INSIDE THE HOUSE I had tree locks between my room INSIDE the house and my spouse 120 pounds ex. This shit happens way more often then people want to be aware of. I have met one woman with similar issues (not as bad) she was drinking a lot, was in a bad company with aggressive people. The problem was that she was very socially skilled with dating and manipulating. Many guys were literally her slaves. My point is that if you do not have social skills and know a little bit about psychology you can very easily end up in a very bad relationship with wrong women. It almost happened to me luckily my behavior and nonverbal movement was for many people homosexual which I hated a lot but it protected me from wrong women. :-)

    • @BobSmith-pm3wx
      @BobSmith-pm3wx 5 років тому +2

The beautiful thing about dating is that you can set your own rules about what you want out of a partner. I think people have met their long term partners in many ways. Some rush to sex because they feel like it, some wait because they feel like it. Let me just say that I've met a number of good looking, good-natured, professionally successful women willing to drive directly to my house and bang me on the first date. I didn't think any less of them - in fact, I thought they were very brave and kind to do what they did. Eventually women will expect more, of course, but not every woman will expect a man to wait a given amount of time to have sex to prove that she's special enough. If your pussy is the only bargaining chip you have in a relationship, then you're not a worthwhile woman anyway.
