I think Harry saying that is definitely something to consider. The friends leaving not so much because I mean who wouldn't leave if they were told those things?
"Who wouldn't leave if they were told by an emotionally-intense man that tonight is a wonderful night for a killing?" I think a more important question is "What sort of 'friend' would *_leave a disabled woman_* in the presence of a man who is clearly at the end of his wits and has a vivid history of emotional volatility? When said disabled woman is begging for them to not leave?" They could have left. _And then _*_did literally anything else_*_ in addition._ Like, take Amanda with them, or called the police to do a wellness check later.

My Uncle's wife was diagnosed with MS, so he became her caregiver, worked full time at the post office and they had a young daughter. He sanity was slipping and her mother agreed to move in and help take care of her. Within a month, her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Now my Uncle had to take care of her mom too. He cracked and disappeared for a week and eventually checked into a mental ward. So I can relate to someone going literally crazy in that position. But not killing anyone. Crazy.
Yes. In contrast to what many of the people here are saying, the details of Harry Horse’s own death are those that lead me to believe in the suicide, though the painful and drawn-out murder of his wife still has me confused and unsettled. I can’t imagine stabbing an ex even, let alone a partner I loved. But if I were to do something that brutal and wretched, I’m certain the moment I realised what I had done, I would want to hurt myself even more. In an awful and quite distant way, i think there’s *some* logic to his butchering his own genitals in that particular context. The horror of giving in to a terrible, intrusive thought, unwillingly held in moments of desperate anxiety, frustration and despair… it’s something i can’t bear to think about
@@Linkophereas someone who has been a caregiver while also juggling a full-time job, I was at the brink of falling off the deep end myself. It reminds me of how VHS-quality footage tends to lend itself to be eerier than watching something disturbing in high definition. You could watch the same thing, footage of something horrifying for whatever reason, and many people claim the poorer quality of a VHS only adds to their terror.
I feel so sad for Amanda. Tbh I wasnt expecting anything good when Nexpo mentioned she had MS. Acts of violence by caretakers against chronically/terminally ill people are not uncommon. It's a scary thing to put trust into someone while being sick like she was

Absolutely. People with disabilities are at higher risk in domestic violence situations and obviously more vulnerable. That makes it even more disgusting for the media to report these things as 'romantic murder-suicides' ugh
@@sarahcosgrove6771 i mean, he probably /didn't/. theres practically no logical way that a human being can stab themselves even over ten times in a row without passing out if they arent on some form of drug. it would be anatomically impossible to do that. either way, though, its a tragic account of two people's mental health declining to the point of near insanity. murder or suicide, or a mix of both, these people suffered from degenerative disorders that crippled their ability to function on a normal basis, and they both felt immense pain during that gradual descent to rock bottom

it's disgusting. even if it was her being terribly ill and wanting to die it would still be utterly irresponsible to report on a murder suicide like that. gross
Even if it had been as simple as a double suicide, why was the media reporting it as a tragic expression of love? That’s really disturbing. Suicide isn’t romantic. It’s suicide. Edit: Please for your own sake do not open the replies. It’s been a year and I’m still getting notifications. Just don’t.
*Romeo and Juliet* is a tragedy of the romantic type. Double-suicide in the face of an insurmountable enemy is a story as old as... well, whenever that was written, and then up to today. It's not that suicide is romantic per se, but more that the suicide itself, in this context, is romanticized, as she had a terminal illness and- according to media portrayal- would form a pact with him so that they wouldn't have to live without one another.
It's always interesting how "the person was on a shit load of drugs" can really affect what you think of the case. There's a bizarre scene and people are puzzled wondering how it could happen and then someone says "drugs" and everyone goes "Oooohh, yeah ok I can see that".
Because it's crazy to think how numb you would have to be (physically and mentally) to stab yourself 47 times and mutilate your own genitals? That's crazy if you think about it. I would need drugs to do that to myself (or to another, especially a pet that I love)

Sometimes it's just too late. Josh Powell had a meeting with his psychologist and a few hours later killed his two sons and himself. He was probably trying to come off as normal in his interviews because he was so determined to kill his children. Might have been similar with this couple. He was trying to come off as normal, probably didn't do the one thing necessary in therapy, wanting to help yourself, and instead let all his demons take over.

Dude, the "friends" are probably the ones who actually killed them. If you honestly buy that a guy completely sober stabbed himself till he bled out, I've got some ocean front property in Wyoming to sell you.
I think it's possible to determine if Harry stabbed himself analysing the depth and angle of the stab wounds. Even if you are deranged enough to do it, your body instinctively protects itself so the strength applied is lower. Self-inflicted stab wounds also tend to have an upward direction due to how our arm joints are built.

As someone who has lived with Bipolar disorder for years, I can say that I see some big characteristic bipolar symptoms being described in this guy's story. When you got towards the end when you said that he had amitriptyline in his system, and the comment he allegedly told their guests "it's a good night for a killing" right before they left. This got me to consider the possibility that he was an undiagnosed Bipolar patient who was pushed into an extreme bout of mania. Fully Manic Bipolar people can be incredibly dangerous to themselves and others depending on how severe of an episode it is. The reason I bring up severity is that Amitriptyline is an older tricyclic antidepressant, psychiatrists would NEVER give an actually diagnosed bipolar person tricyclic antidepressants as they have been known to chemically induce mania if not paired with a mood stabilizer like lithium. Besides the antidepressants, bipolar people often become more prone to severe mood swings when under a lot of stress and isolation (he was basically isolated from everyone but his wife from the sounds of it). If this was the case it would certainly fit. Granted, I am not one to typically jump to an insanity root cause, because while people with mood disorders can be dangerous in some circumstances they more often than not are not dangerous most of the time and if they are it is usually only to themselves. When you have a set of circumstances like the ones described here with potentially added chemical triggers to encourage such an episode and I could totally believe it if he was having a severe bout of mania. Severe bouts of mania can include hallucinations and paranoid delusions. As someone who has experienced those symptoms, I hate to inform you that people can do all sorts of things that would otherwise seem utterly impossible as if they were on drugs when it's really just their brain essentially frying itself.
Nah man that just seals the deal, he def killed both of them. Along with his friends saying that he was saying "It seems like a good night for a killing." Besides who would want to willingly kill that couple?? That makes no sense.. Unless we don't know of something..
That was one of my thoughts, he had undiagnosed rapid cycling bipolar disorder. One of my best friends has it and she can occasionally lash out without much control over her actions.
I was just thinking something similar. There isn't always a good reason. One moment can be the difference between tragedy or getting over it and into a successful and happy life past your problems. Just one moment. One action. One decision. One episode.
I agree completely. I too have Bipolar and was misdiagnosed for years. Being on antidepressants only, they really really messed up my brain. My manic stages would be extreme, even compared to now when I’m on mood stabilizers. The fact that he was sober doesn’t mean he couldn’t mutilate himself. Often in manic states you don’t feel any pain, or at least I didn’t in the times I was on antidepressants. I would go to extremes with self harm and not even realize how bad it was until I came out of the mania. The isolation and only taking care of Mandy(not at all saying it was her fault) instead of being able to be creative and work on art most likely put him into those thoughts of “I should just kill myself” and “well I don’t want to leave Mandy and our pets” and it was probably stewing for quite a while. That night when he said “it’s a night for killing” he probably was right on the edge, and then perhaps something irritated him and that was the end. I wouldn’t say it was premeditated, but I feel like it was definitely stewing, and ended up a heat of the moment. Plus it’s not often that murderers will kill family pets. I see that as him seeing them as their children and killing them too so they don’t have to live without Mandy and him. I love the video, as I do all Nexpo videos, but I genuinely believe this was Harry’s doing by undiagnosed Bipolar disorder.

A side note to self stabbing. It happens but is extremely rare. If I remember the Fresno California self stabbing of the man who said he was being harassed by the Fresno Police department, they stated it would have been almost impossible for him to stab himself so many times. This stabbing takes that statement to a whole new level.
Well people in profession say it takes a hell lot of will and dedication to do this while also battling pain. If your under substance or just unstable enough. Well just few times
Yeah and the 'how was he able to do it' question I immediately answered as just pure adrenaline? I doubt it would be enough for ALL of his stab wounds but I'm sure it's possible?
Depends greatly on what he used -- did he use a great big butcher knife or a little tiny paring knife? Did he stab himself in the heart and lungs or in his lower abdomen - sounded like he was stabbing his groin.
Only ppl ignorant to mental health issues, and what your brain is actually capable of would make such a statement. Im a nurse that worked several years in a psych hospital. When a person is truly insane - truly out of their gd mind they are more than capable of acts such as these. Ive seen ppl in psychosis and delusional do some crazy wild sh*t that most ppl could never even imagine to be possible. Most ppl are just to scared to admit that our brains are very much capable of turning on us, and I totally understand why some ppl choose to stay in denial on this fact. Because it IS f'n terrifying to think about what our brains can make us think that's not real, make us see thats not real, make us believe thats not real. Its terrifying. And the fact is....any one of us are capable of snapping, having a mental break, going insane, losing touch with reality, whatever you choose to call it - we are ALL capable of it if life circumstances hit us just right, get hit with big stresses, big losses, and horrific traumas - our mental strength is only so strong, get hit with enough and our brains shut down, pretty much turning on us. I personally feel he had lived his life with untreated mental illness, after hearing ppls descriptions of him, and his fits of rage. Then he lost his dog. Then his wife that he truly did love, she got a horrible diagnosis, and he was faced with the fact she was going to d*e soon. And the man couldn't take any more, and he snapped. When out of your mind, true clinical insanity - you could stab yourself 47 times because your brain isnt receiving and sending signals for you to feel pain. You could mutilate yourself because again...your not feeling it, and he*l he might not have been aware of what he was doing - psychosis, delusions, hallucinations.....he could've been mutilating his genitals, but he was seeing himself carve a f'n turkey! And when it came to attacking his wife - at that moment he may not have seen his wife. He might have seen someone completely different, and been hearing things not really being said. A lot of ppl that have done this once stabilized, medicated, and in their right minds....they'd say that when attacking the person they saw satan, a demon, or a complete stranger that was hurling threats. Once they are medicated, and back sane - they are often horrified to know what they did, and are truly remorseful. That's why ppl that are deemed truly insane get away with murder. Because its not really them committing the acts. Its like your brain decides it wants to be in charge instead of the body, and it takes over making the person see, hear, feel, and think things that are not real. But anyway....i commented a really long explanation of how the brain can go nuts, cause a person to do such things, and why i feel he did do it. Its long, but if your interested in a more in depth explanation its there.

As someone who grew up in Shetland I remember this and the main discussion between everyone on the island was why so little information came out and so little was said on local news. On an island where someone being caught with crumbs of cannabis or getting a speeding ticket or a garden gnome being stolen can be reported on and make the papers the information on this was basically limited to circulating rumours. That being said most people seemed to understand that this was a murder that was being downplayed and swept under the rug to maintain the islands long standing low to no murder rate. The main selling point of the island is being quiet and safe. Can’t let a little murder get in the way of that. 😅
I still don't understand the motivation. Or how they wouldn't investigate this like the murderer wouldn't strike again. Who possibly could have done it with such a small population... yes, he was a conspiracy guy but his conspiracies were substandard at most and never went beyond anything other than "Aliens and Atlantis". And if you're going to fake a suicide you could do a better job than cutting the dick off.
*Local Shetlander here.* I actually live not 15 minutes away from where the incident took place. I was rather young when it all happened so I don't have the best memory of it but I know people that do. From what I can gather, I think the nearby locals were always aware that the whole ordeal was a brutal murder-suicide, not a drug-induced double suicide. Theory went that Harry had bought cannabis to help with his wife's MS and began taking it himself which led to the deaths. But clearly that's wrong if the toxicology report is anything to go off so I guess even the locals weren't fully briefed on what happened. Must have been a huge disconnect between what locals heard and what the news reported. Beyond that, great video! Surreal to come across one of my favourite UA-camrs talking about my home isles!
@@JDizzle785 Yeah, even if the toxicology came back positive for cannabis that would not explain an act like this. I think the 'friend's stories are a little too convenient.
Its totally not unbelievable for something as simple as cannabis to set off something in someone as mentally ill as him it can really mess with some people lol
@Hudson Hamman Depending on body weight and amount consumed, THC metabolites can stick around for upto 3 months. The toxicology screen found nothing. The pathogenesis of mental illnesses resulting from even brief exposure to THC is very rare.
WHY ISNT DROWNED GOD MORE POPULAR? ITS SO GOOD HONESTLY! I feel like it’s what low poly horror games today aspire to be like. Old games like DG get swept under the rug so quickly just because they’re from the 90’s. It makes me mad to think hidden gems like that go unnoticed

They tend to, yeah. From what I understand as a non-expert, the direction of the wounds tend to change based on whether the person themself is holding the knife, or someone else else. Also the place on the body. Defensive wounds are often on the outer edges forearms as someone raises their hands to block a weapon. I'm just chuckling in annoyance as a trans person that there's a bunch of cis people who think "ah, no one could ever mutilate their genitals while not on drugs!" Like, my dude, talk to some people with dysphoria, you'd be surprised.
@@emexdizzy tbf though, if somebody is trying to kill themselves I doubt they'd aim for their dick. Mutilation on it's own is one thing but the intent behind it in this case makes zero sense imo
@@404usernotfound_ I'm just trying to say that I think drawing conclusion one way or the other from the harm done to the genitalia is a shaky case to build, since I can think of at least one reason someone would self-mutilate as well as reasons someone else might do mutilation. Basically that the mutilation is probably best left as a fact of the case instead of something determining he definitely did or definitely didn't do it.
I'm kinda pissed at the friends who knew he had rage issues, heard him say the murder thing, were begged by Amanda not to leave, and still they left without informing anyone that maybe someone should check on or keep an eye on the couple. I have actually kept an all-night vigil outside of a friend's house for less, worried they were in danger. Another theory could be the friends made up those points, and murdered the couple for some reason. I just can't imagine leaving people alone after being begged to stay and hearing one of them speak the way they said he did. I have had family members die from a murder-suicide. This shit can happen to anyone. It is a shame how often people are afraid to stick their nose into a situation, but it could save lives. It's freaky that even if it had been a suicide pact, it is still not a romantic or lovely story as the media was portraying it. It never is.
Its very suspicious that they were the last to see them alive, first to find them dead AND the people to control the narrative on what happened that night along with his mental state.
They are probably not treated as suspects because there's not enough evidence for it. A high court judge and a forensic phsycologist believe they were murdered, I believe they are on to something. The husband does seem like the type of person to abuse his wife and snap, which is awfully convenient. We only know the couple's behaviour the day before from their "friends" testimony. The husband stabbed himself 47 times while completely sober, then mutilated his genitals and acomodated himself near his wife before dying. The door was unlocked, why, where would a dead man go. Did he wanted to be found out? Was it someone else that didn't lock? I don't like this case because the murder suicide conclusion is believable, but how the guy killed himself is odd. Among other things.
For all we know, he was a weird guy, and if you have friends that share your interest in mysteries, you know they will tell dark jokes. It's like when you're walking down a dark alley and one of your friends says, 'Hey, looking like a perfect place for a murderer to hide.' Who would have thought they have planned your murder with a person hiding in that alley? And the friends only come over to visit so it makes sense they think Amanda asking them to stay is just hospitality. They probably didn't think much and were just eager to explore the city in the few days they have. It's probably just in hindsight they realize it was a call for help. I don't think the friends were the murderers. They were on their way to the airport after all, and if they flew back to New Zealand, any questioning would have been hard to do, they will be much safer. Also, I wonder what kind of grudge would make one go so far as to fly half the globe to kill their friends. If they have that kind of motive, surely the police would have discovered.
@@--.._ I understand where you're coming from, nobody _wants_ to get hurt so there's no shame in that. Some people just have that heroic spark that overrides their self-preservation, and it's not always the best choice to act on that; people definitely get harmed or even lose their life trying to act courageously. What I would suggest to you though (or anyone else), if you find yourself in that situation where someone definitely seems dangerous and could hurt someone else or themselves, even if you choose to get away from them just find help. Notify someone who has the power to intervene that something bad might happen, even if you don't know for certain but feel strongly that it will. If it turns out you were mistaken, no harm no foul, as long as they're innocent and you had good reason for being concerned, no party involved should be persecuted (you could probably do this anonymously too FWIW). If you're right though, and you get that help and end up saving someone from danger, you're every bit as virtuous as the person who steps in and stops it from happening. There's no shame in knowing your limits and getting help from someone who's more capable in that situation. I believe there _is_ shame in knowing that something could happen and being able to safely make a difference, but not even trying -- *that* is what a coward does, running away in itself is not necessarily cowardly.

Maybe they were the ones who killed them. 👀 If a husband said "it's a great night to kill somebody" and the wife begged you not to leave, isn't it irrational and almost negligent to say, "Haha, ok... it's been a blast... y'all have a good night now!" and leave? It almost seems like these statements were made up to frame Harry Horse, if I'm to be honest. It certainly doesn't look good for the mystery guests, whoever they were. 🤔 If the mystery guests were also the ones who'd originally claimed that Harry was on a cocktail of drugs, the toxicology results would be proof that they were lying, and if they were lying about Harry being on drugs, the chances are high that they were lying about everything else. But... unless there is more information out there that was not presented in this video, everyone would just be guessing about what happened. 🤔

Considering their friends reported his erratic behavior and the fact that he was talking about killing that night, and that the wife begged them not to go, is enough reason to conclude Harry went batshit and murdered that poor woman.
Then again the 'friends' might have made this story up .. Like it would make sense why they would make up stuff like harry saying "its a good night for a killing" to pin the blame on him and saying that amanda asked them to stay just to establish themselves as the trustworthy guys in front of the police. Also, i doubt that a man could mutilate his own genitals and stab himself 47 times and stay alive to do it all.
How can any man stab himself 47 times in the torso and mutilate his junk? At max he could have stabbed himself 10 times. The pain and blood loss would have killed him right there. It sounds very unrealistic to me....

Poor Amanda. As someone who has taken care of two terminally ill family members,(one of them was my own mother) I realize it puts a strain on the caretaker. Few people take into account that the terminal person deals with a lot as well. She probably felt horrible for things that were beyond her control. Amanda's final days should not have been like that.

Why is no one sus about the guests? Aren’t they the ones who said stuff like she not wanting them to leave and him taking a bunch of drugs. Sounds like they’re trying to hint at it being the guy
After watching and reading a few comments I've a theory about the "friends." They are indeed the ones who did it. One of them may very likely have been a groupie from Henry's musician days that ended up seething in jealousy that Mandy got the guy instead of her. Reason I think this is because of the mutilation of Henry's genitalia. Hell, both of them could have been female groupies. Their lives could have gone down the drain and they blamed this couple. If it wasn't for Mandy, they too would have had such luxurious lives with Henry. However, this is all just going off of their abnormal account of the tale, the bodies being found in the bed, and the fact that Henry's genitals were, in fact, mutiliated.

it's disgusting. even if it was her being terribly ill and wanting to die it would still be utterly irresponsible to report on a murder suicide like that. gross
Even if it had been as simple as a double suicide, why was the media reporting it as a tragic expression of love? That’s really disturbing. Suicide isn’t romantic. It’s suicide.
Edit: Please for your own sake do not open the replies. It’s been a year and I’m still getting notifications. Just don’t.
Harry Horse didn't kill himself

I thought the same but he was also taking amitriptyline which means he did speak to a GP about how he was feeling and I'm surprised they missed this too :(
Sometimes it's just too late. Josh Powell had a meeting with his psychologist and a few hours later killed his two sons and himself. He was probably trying to come off as normal in his interviews because he was so determined to kill his children. Might have been similar with this couple. The clay 3D models of late 90s computer games have always left an eerie feeling within me. Even for games that weren't meant to be creepy, such as Fallout. But with the combined effect of this narrative? Chilling.

In my defense, I would definitely leave than stay given the history of Harry. I might get murdered if I stayed. I am sorry for being a coward.
Plus even if you tried to stab yourself straight they wouldn't be cus of the pain your hands would move bc of the pain

Well said
Nah man that just seals the deal, he def killed both of them.

@@lizhall4473 because our boi is telling us yet another juicy story

I'm not a ME but I think 47 defensive stab wounds vs 47 self-inflicted stab wounds are going to leave very different traces in autopsy.
They tend to, yeah. From what I understand as a non-expert, the direction of the wounds tend to change based on whether the person themself is holding the knife, or someone else else. Also the place on the body. Defensive wounds are often on the outer edges forearms as someone raises their hands to block a weapon.

There was no evidence that he did anything. They were murdered by a third-party.

Exsanguinating two adult humans and two house pets is a significant amount of blood, especially given the crime scene description.
