Thank you for the great comparison, Jonathan! I agree with everything - the 1310 is a bit trickier to start but once you've gotten used to it allows for a more efficient pump. I paired it with the short advance fuse and that works fine off the dock. I'm not quite at the success ratio as I was with the 1150/1300 but I'm getting there. Also on flat water I don't need the 1310 to be as agile as smaller foils. On winging: I did take the 1310 out winging a couple of times in light winds but it's not as fun as anticipated. Those huge foils might get you up in light wind (i.e. 6-9 kts) but they will also drop faster than thinner high aspect foils due to the drag they induce. The real game changer for me was a downwind board. I no longer use PNG wings for winging anymore but have completely switched to the 1201/1050/1099. Those are so much faster and you have no issues getting up in 8-10kts gusts (on a 6m strike CWC in my case).
Would you please do a short video on the ultimate Axis wake theiving set up? And then perhaps one comparing Axis to Armstrong for wake theiving specifically please - enjoy your analytical analysis - thank you
Thanks for your request. I have never foiled Armstrong gear so my opinion may not be too helpful. The Axis PNG 1150 is ratted very highly for wake thiefing. When I owned it I never got into wake theifing so I can not say it is still #1. I suspect the Spitfire 1100 or 1180 depending on your size may take the top spot for wake theifing. Happy Foiling & Shopping! 😊
I am pumping with a Indiana 1396 (wingspan) with a Thickness of 24mm. The axis 1310 has only 19mm. Do you think it would be easier with the thinner axis for longdistance pumping? I am still way to exhausted to pump longer than 90 seconds… 😢
Congrats on 90 seconds Martin! That was about where I was at with my A 1310. I am taking a break right now. I think technique and athleticism are going to be way more important vs which foil you own "as long as it is overall a foil know for being good for dock start foot pump foiling". From what I have read and seen is that foil cross section is just as important or maybe more important vs length, thickness and volume. I have not foiled the Indiana 1396 and have not seen how the foil cross section is designed at different lengths from the center so I can not make an accurate guess. Still, baced on the specs I would not be surprised if the I 1396 had an easier dock launch and a lower stall speed. It would also not surprise me with max foot pumping effort if the A 1310 could obtain a faster max speed and have a bit more manuvarabiliy. To compare how much effort is required per minute to maintain flight on flat water ... I have no idea. It could be different sizes of foilers or different pumping techniques would favor one foil over the other. Anyway 😄 hope this helps. If you find a foil that gets you to your next time / distance goal, let me know. Happy Foiling! 😊

1310 got much better when I changed from a short to an ultrashort advance fuse. 375 for speed, tiny waves gliding and 425 for endurance runs.
Thanks for the advice! 🙂

@@jonathanreinke9392 Thank you very much. I was hoping that the problem is the material and not me!!! LOL Was very helpful! Cheers.
Try a short fuse, u will be amazed!!!
Thanks Hoang!
My fuse is the 680mm or the short.
Have you tryed the new Advanced Red fuses?
@jonathanreinke9392 no I'm on the naish, put the mast in the50cm position. Made dock starts much easier!!!
