  • This was fast and easy maintenance for my foil. I will shortly post a video after my n3xt session to share the differences. Let me know if you would like more content like this.
Here is my previous test with applying a thin layer of bacon grease on specific spots of a race foil. The appiclation made for terrible flight attributes, and the trial was short and decisive.
    • What happens when you ...
Also, as you are sanding, check for small burrs, extra sharp spots or extra dull spots. You can double up on maintenance without taking much extra time.
    Happy Flying!

The terminology you where looking for is "the boundary layer"; Unless it is a absolute perfect uniform and smooth finish (highly unlikely), a directional fish (in same direction as direction of the flow) is better so you get this "boundary layer" by water sticking to the surface. When sanding, >1000 grit in successive and climbing grit, always use a sponge or something medium soft so the paper doesn't get any hard vs soft pressure points. Apart from sandpaper, a polishing paste can help as well for the very last perfect smooth finish (grit >2000 possible)

Hey! thanks for your demonstration. Were you able to notice any diference in speed or control?

      You're welcome
Yes, it did. It was less twitchy and more easy to maintain stable pumping. I did not notice a difference on speed.
      Have a good one 😊
