Hey Damien. I really enjoy your tutorials!I’ve been watching this one yesterday night and been out in the morning to check. So good!Especially the lifting of the backfoot. What really changed my ride however was one more thing that made the release of the back foot possible. I changed my cadence/pump frequency which was the key to really keep the pitch control. I speeded up my frequency et voilà. I’m sure it depends on the setup and front wing in particular but I encourage everyone in that stage too play with the frequency of pumping. 🤙🏼
Great video. The secret was given in the comment at the end "You can only go as far as you are in shape". There is no magic to pumping. You have to have extremely strong legs and incredible cardio fitness. You wanna pump for 5 minutes? Can you do 5 minute squat hold? Can you sprint for 5 minutes? Can you run a 8 minute mile? Fitness is the biggest secret in the game! You're welcome. 😎🤙
Can not confirm. Cardio sure is important but if you find the sweet spot high up on the mast just before breaching the foil is so much more efficient and you can go exponentially longer just with better technique 🤙
Yes it is true to some degree, but an out of shape rider with a perfect technique will outrun the most in shape rider with poor technique. So technique remains the most important factor
Hi. Thanks for making this awesome video. As I've been improving at winging I've learned how valuable pumping is in so many situations, which then helps you enjoy more and maximise the magic moments for longer. After seeing this I'm going to now focus more on pumping and see if I can make it better. Have a great day and many thanks! Regards.
Awesome video and demonstration! My problem when I first started was way to much weight on the back leg and not pushing equally with both legs. Once the technique was fixed, like you showed, the length of time I could pump was greatly increased.
Thx a lot for your answer. I have also the enduro 1300 ;) but if I’d better pump my first session with the flyer before switching to the enduro right ?
I would say the intention shouldn’t be to push, but to hop, because a push without a hop (going weightless for a split second) doesn’t work, but to hop you have to push. Think about it as a squat jump, not just a squat
Yess but in the part of "jump" of the "squat jump" you push actively more with back leg, 60% backleg 40% front leg or even 70% back leg 30% front leg??@@DamienLeroyUA-cam
Great video! Thanks! What front wing you would recommend for 82 kg raider 1350 or 1550? What is your weight? What mast is better 83p or 73p for beginner?
That’s the setup we recommend: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/sabfoil-1350-leviathan-kit-for-pumping-and-light-wind-winging?_pos=2&_psq=Sabfoil+leviat&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Amazing vid! question: you say the downward movement is basically just a glide. so are your forcing the board + mast downward to accelerate the glide? Or just letting gravity do it's thing...then springing back up to take your weight off the board?
The only way to hop and go weightless is to push first, so that push happens when you point the board slightly downhill. That will generate speed as long as you don’t push when the nose is slightly pointed up, otherwise that will put the brakes on
Salut Damien. I'm 85kg, sup/wing foiler. Do you think I could try dockstart using my old good AFS Flyer 1300 or it would be to small ? Thanks for your tip.
Great video gentlemen. Is this the same technique for sup flatwater paddle up? I only ask as I can pump my kite foil really well but I’m having trouble getting my sup foil going. Thanks for all the great content! 🙏
Yes the technique is the same for flatwater paddle up, the difference is when you do it with a kite, the kite generates some power which helps (it's never fully depowered), and when you do it with a paddle it's less power and you have to synchronize your paddle stroke with your pumping.

Sir If I may ask for a bit of advice, a little less than 2 months ago I began dock starting and I’m having good luck with it! My question is should I continue to learn on my axis 1150 and 1180 or would I benefit from adding a large pump foil(1401) in an effort to chase down my 2nd goal other than dock starting this season of pumping one minute +? Here is a link to a short for reference of my current skill level: ua-cam.com/users/shortsR4i6xVfX-RE?feature=shared I must say your videos have absolutely been instrumental in my foiling process thank you so much for that!!! Cheers
Hi Gwen! Two questions: 1) You said at the end of the video that we can use the same pumping technique for Wingfoiling. Does this also apply to a bigger board (volume is weight + 20kg)? ost training videos on wing foil pumping show other techniques with more front foot pressure. 2) Is this technique same as doing an Ollie on a skateboard (without the huge pull on the front foot)?
What board liter size and length do you recommend for beginner pump foilers? Do you start with a small one like you have here or something larger with more swing weight? Which size board are you using here? TIA
For pump foiling, if you dockstart you don't need much volume so this is the one we recommend and we used in this video: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/b08-sabfoil-8l-compact-foilboard-hydrofoil-board?_pos=1&_psq=b08&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Those videos 1rst off all reasons is to sell ... to show how amazing and easy it is 😂😂 And i agree it is amazing 👍 But its superhard it'll take weeks and months before you getting to something similar he shows❤😂😂

Unfortunately you're right 🤣 Once you've figured out the balancing it's only a question on personal fitness.

Best content creator! So hard to create a tuto on board pumping
Awesome video, I have can't wait to try this amazing sport. Can't wait to take up foiling!
Excellent video this has really helped me with my pumping I focus on my back foot more plus bringing my feet closer together like doing squats
Great content as always! This pumping game is so addictive😆🙏
Super vidéo ! J'essaie de la mettre en application demain. 70 sessions et j'y arrive toujours pas donc je dois manquer un truc
Thank you so much Gwen. Incredibly helpful video. Can't wait to try your tips!
Thanks Gaël!
Merci pour tous ces conseils !
Thanks for sharing !

Fantastic discussion.

Yes spend some time on the Flyer and when you are ready to pump longer, go to the Enduro 1300
Great Video!!!!! I've been thinking about getting a GONG pump foil for a long time.
Thanks for the back heel tip. Seems I've been putting way too little effort into board pumping!
Hi Gwen excellent video. Do you pusch actively with your back leg or do you just do a squad on the board.
I would say the intention shouldn’t be to push, but to hop, because a push without a hop (going weightless for a split second) doesn’t work, but to hop you have to push. Think about it as a squat jump, not just a squat

Yes I would say 60% back leg, 40% front leg, trying to reduce stance and adjust position to work toward 50-50.
That is helpful. To the untrained eye, it looks like you are just squatting down, not also hopping or jumping to bring the foil up. 👍🏾
Stop making it look easy bro 😎 ❤

Thanks a lot, very intuitive explanation

The 1300 Flyer has a really good low end, but not much glide. It would work to learn but not really fun as you progress

Not an Ollie at all... same push on both legs...
more like a Bumptrack
Yes same technique with a bigger board. Not so much like an Ollie but more of a hop pushing about equally with both legs
