@@m3rbs Well in The Republic Socrates does say that until all Kings are philosophers or Philosophers are Kings, the best form of governance is an Aristocracy (Democracy is 4th) ... how do you think we've been developing humanity. Also you're not bound to the class you're born into, and data shows 20% of the Aristocrats will completely squander their privileged position. Lol
@@Nick_Tag I disagree with Socrates then. I have read in depth about his opposition to democracy and I heavily consider his critique. The gist of it being that democracy becomes vulnerable due to the uneducated. In addition, all kings becoming philosophers or vice versa, imo, will never happen. Does that seem likely to you? It is more unlikely than advancing education so citizens can participate in democracy effectively. A benevolent elite will never form in the guise of capitalism. I'm not saying there aren't compassionate billionaires (hence, why I am watching this video), but I don't think that aristocratic capitalism is better in the long run. Thanks for your response.
@@m3rbs Fair enough, I just thought it was interesting when I read it. Direct democracy all the way -- but (for me) only fully informed / logically valid votes should be cast as it is time consuming. If any piece of data had an 'Office of National Statistics' emblem on it would be a lot faster to get to the truth. I'd consider Joe Rogan, Eric W, Lex F, et al the philosophers of our day and they are teeing up the conversation to Millions so that's a damn good start.

Probably the most influential man after 2000s. Steve jobs levels here, but multiplied by a factor of 7 (Paypal, Tesla, SpaceX, SolarCity, TheBoringCompany, OpenAI, Neuralink)
Steve didn't program anything, design rocket or even a small engine or design a part of the phone, he was business and marketing savvy yes. But he didn't do any supernormal things unlike Elon. He practically designed a rocket engine.
Steve Jobs was nothing but a rich cat who bought and made contracts with poor small company genius, and would not be popular without superbowl level advertising... people only like apple because of fancy ads, its subpar and still number 2.. shares and wallstreet means nothing but paper money that changes by billions up or down by the hour. fecebook also a nothingburger, zuckerburg stole and bought ideas... fact kid, im a tech grad, i lived it...
I thank Elon Musk everyday for having the courage to accomplish his dreams against all odds. I know I had a discussion with him in the early 2000s about solar panels and electric cars. I had a big hate on for the petroleum industry polluting our world and charging us up the ass for their products. Elon could not believe the simplicity of my plan and thought it was an excellent idea. One we should do and will do one day. Today it is done because he had the guts to do it. I also got asked by someone to join SpaceX not because I have crazy qualifications but because I have a passion to explore space. This was in the earlier days of SpaceX and like Elon I didn't expect it to succeed. Elon Musk has no fear of failure, he has the perseverance to see a normal man's dreams turn into reality. So this time I would like to say I am fully on board with what Elon Musk has on the go. Everything he does he does with so much commitment to better the life of everyone and all humanity. I am an entrepreneur at heart but he is someone I would work for. This is the time and we are the people that will change the world!
Where do you ever get a CEO of a large company being open and honest about many things that went wrong, to a small group of people that essentially are just fans. You guys are awkward and I'm a introvert and I love this!! It's like a bunch of nerds getting together! Thanks for making this! Hope I get a reply back from Elon! XD
I learned more from this over any other interview of Elon musk even more than his biography in some ways .... really good to hear directly from him the challenges he faced with each of his companies and at different stages of each of them from beginning to end ... really well done interview and topics and letting Elon really go deep into everything great work guys!! Lesson I learned is that Elon’s success has a ton to do with tenacity resilience and persistence and less about intelligence or doing things perfectly the very first time. Lot of crazy ups and downs , but most important things amongst others is his framework for thinking and first principles rationale and for the questions formed and unique ways of solving different problems Think first principles, think differently, think rationally, creatively, and find other talented people who you can work with who do the same. And create something needed and lasting and epic together with them. !
He makes it look easy, but if he inspires even 10 people to do things a hundredth bit as amazing and positive as he has done, the world will be better off. I hope his influence is far beyond this though!
There's an extrenuos pull for power here and elon knows it and isn't good at dealing with it. He feels awkward knowing what's going on, nobody else does
I also love how Elon has topics he wants to cover and if you bring up something else, he’ll disregard your comment, but if you address something he wants to talk about, he’ll get really deep into it lol

I disagree, its a story about Elon Musk hence the title. It does goes off track to some other historical events during his early years. It isnt very well structured and results in something of a open conversation.
@@mikheievavictoria6650like Jim said, this was an open conversation focused on Elon's story as he wanted to tell it. We framed the opening of the discussion by asking about the tweet that led to the meeting - Viv's first question. @@jamesstokes1579 I watched a History Channel episode on Nicoli Tesla, the dude was way way ahead of his time. If he were to have lived today the advancements he would be making would be mind blowing. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it, it is here on UA-cam.
Amazing! Can’t believe he allocated so much of his time for this and love how he’s so honest.
The way he talks, you can tell he’s a genius. Like, the stuttering, you can tell he has a lot of ideas in his head and he’s very inventive
WOW - maybe the most influential and brightest mind of our time having a real world conversation. If this does not cement your commitment to Tesla, nothing will. Long after I am gone (I am old). history will record, Musk changed the world and is continuing to change the world on the order of Nikola Tesla. It is appropriate he chose the name.

All I can focus on in Elon interviews is watching his eyes go up and dart around accessing data in his brain.

"We want to maximize the happiness of the population and propagate it into the future as far as possible and understand the nature of reality. And from that, everything else follows." - 45:18
And also something about expanding consciousness aha. That’s why he donated $15M to the Xprize for literacy competition.
maximizing the happiness of the higher class is the only thing Tesla is capable of. Hopefully one day Elon's ventures will benefit lower class people.

Lot of crazy ups and downs , but most important things amongst others is his framework for thinking and first principles rationale and for the questions formed and unique ways of solving different problems
Think first principles, think differently, think rationally, creatively, and find other talented people who you can work with who do the same. And create something needed and lasting and epic together with them. !
He makes it look easy, but if he inspires even 10 people to do things a hundredth bit as amazing and positive as he has done, the world will be better off. I hope his influence is far beyond this though!

Don't understand why people enjoied it. it's bassically empty in terms of new information
