Nice, I'm happy to hear that! I know it's a big video, but I did my best to add timestamps and split it up into logical sections to make it easier to digest. If you want something a bit more in-depth, I made a "Everything I learned" video last year from a world conquest campaign I ran. There are a TON of good nuggets in there, but it's not like this where it goes in the exact order. It's long as well, but I put timestamps on everything so skip around :)

I've started my adventure with CK3 yesterday and your video helped me solidify all most important questions I had at the beginning and how all it works. Considering how much info is being bamboozled at you at all times, it is great you explain what is what and why.

I have over 2000 hours in ck3 so I already employ 99% of the strategies and maxims present in this video, however, I had no idea you could sort by prowess in the marriage screen. For over 2k hours I have sorted by martial and clicked through the candidates manually to find the ones that happen to also have decent prowess. Even though I cringed at tiny things being forgotten from time to time, the level of care and thought put into this video make it very very worth the runtime. Well done

Now you tell me you can reroll children's traits👀 Great video. Although I have over 1000 hours of gameplay, I still found plenty of useful info. You're awesome👑
Good question - I'm pretty sure that's RNG until it actually happens, so if you savescum you can probably reroll the traits. I remember either getting a good trait, then crashing and getting a bad one and being pissed or the opposite lol

"52, you're about to die". Me, 53... "Oh." Maybe I should go back to getting Foehammer in BG3 again. ~ RL Grandma. :D Seriously, though, good guide. I like Desmond as a start, but there's usually a kinda useless heir, even if your starter bloke is pretty good.
Awesome video. I know you're trying to fit as much info into a short length video, which I commend you, but it's too fast, which is fine. Since you're going fast, we can't keep up with what you're saying & doing (clicking). So a suggestion would be to use a larger mouse pointer size, and with flourescent color. So we know where the mouse pointer is as you're talking. About 60% of the time, I hear you talking, & then a screen pop up. I have no idea what you did or how you did to get the screen to pop up. But overall, a great video. I know it took many hours & days for editing. Edit -- I didn't have Vikings in my play thru. I was playing way down southeast, around India / Madagascar area. Guess its too far for Vikings to make it down there.
It's technically half that length, but I decided to put both play throughs depending on which one you might need help with more. The smooth run is easier to follow, but the 2nd playthrough is more accurate since this game loves to dump problem after problem on you at the same time lol I also put a ton of timestamps to help jump around to the spots you might be struggling with the most.
@@Strat-Guides That's very cool of you. I just can't get over the fact that Paradox Games need feature length movies as tutorials to even start playing 😂
Nice, good luck with CK3! Just keep in mind, there is a lot of RNG in this game and sometimes you just get dumped on by the AI while other runs you'll have 0 problems rolling everyone. If you get stuck or ganged up on, just restart and try again. Don't give up!
I watched this video as a follow up to the other grandma video after your recommendation, and actually everything ran extremely smoothly! I conquered all of Ireland, got tons of money, absolute control over counties, a ton of prestige… and then my ruler died at 44 years old, of gout. Playing as his heir, I was stumped, because his focus was on intrigue and I had no clue what to do. I married a lady with high stewardship to at least maintain my kingdom… and then I couldn’t grow it any further because of a massive shortage of prestige. Spent close to 15 years just raiding to get money and prestige, held a grand tournament, got a ton of prestige that ran out immediately, back to square one, no prestige, no way to expand my territory. Should I just keep raiding or what? It makes no sense :/ I would highly appreciate a guide on what to do after your ruler dies and your heir takes over! As well as possibly a video explaining the difference in gameplay with different lifestyles. Until then, what can I do to get unstuck from being unable to expand due to low prestige (and stays negative no matter what)?
If you're going through that much prestige, it sounds like your army is too big to maintain. I prefer to prioritize archers for this reason - they don't cost nearly as much as the armored footmen. Try disbanding some of the more expensive units you have and change them out for archers and light infantry?
@@Strat-GuidesI’ve got a thousand armored footmen, 2 sets of 500 each, the rest is bowmen. I burn through prestige like crazy because of “Unraised Men-at-arms”. By the time I’ve managed to raise my prestige gain again, I’m 40 years old, and it resets next time my heir takes over :/ Is there a way to get to feudalism more quickly? Since I heard that Men at arms cost money to upkeep once you make the switch.
Possibly - it also depends on a few other things like modifiers to health. You can extend your ruler's life by going down the learning tree (the one on the left that gives health modifiers) or getting a rat catching cat (RNG on getting it or not), etc. 82 is good for the early game!
This game is most based. You play as a real person and manage your family. Only resources which are important are levies and money. Most similar to real life
Using the first version of this video where you only took over Ireland I invaded all of Britannia and subjugated Norway, also placed one of my kids on the kingdom of Brittany, Albion has risen
Awesome video, up until I couldn't find the royal court :( LoL! It's a cool game but Paradox charges 50$ and decided to add a 30$ DLC that should be in game. Oh well
@MAXIMUMintheHORMONE yeah that's paradox for you lol they do put a lot of effort into their games though so at least it's not a scam like a lot of early access games
When you look at the person you're declaring war against, you have to look at the land they PERSONALLY own, the land they directly control. Personally controlling land is not the same as "Realm within your kingdom" which basically means you own the highest title, but someone else owns the actual land. If you declare on someone, you can only get the land they directly own, but anyone else will become a vassal of yours. If you declare war for a dutchy that the rulers doesn't own anything in, you'll get 100% vassals. If they own all the land within a dutchy, then your dutchy war will give you direct ownership of all those lands. Hopefully that helps clear it up!
Weirdest run I had was that I had a mistress and her husband had my wife as his mistress, then in the end they ended up having a kid who had my surname. Then I sent this kid to study abroad and became the foundation of my eugenics program. XD In the end my house had superhuman descendants.
My first paradox game was EU4 which kicked my butt early on lol this is definitely easier, but compared to most games out there, it's still very complex.
@HenriqueRJchiki Sadly the game doesn't like running in max speed and crashes all the time for me. Lol there's definitely no reason to savescum a beginners guide - the more problems that pop up, the better the guide will be because it covers a wider range of issues that people will encounter.
In your first run when your brother died you said you forgot to marry him. How would you do this marriage? Matrilineal? What skills would you look for?
For the brother just do a regular marriage - Matrilineal is for when your female courtiers and family members are married off so you can pull capable males into your court. As for skills, females will mostly use intrigue (spymaster) or learning (court physician) so either of those would be good if you don't already have the positions filled. Otherwise, you literally just want a young female with any stats - the important thing with females is they can pull capable males into your court who can then fill any position (including champions with high prowess).
Wait so how come do you have a casus belli against literally every single county and Dutchy and everyone, but I have to wait 9 months for my bishop to forge one? Like what am I doing wrong why can you declare war left and right while I have to wait forever between every single declaration I’m confused
It's because you're picking the later start date, which forces you into a Feudal government. At the start of the video I mentioned talking the earlier start date of 867 which let's you play as a tribal government who don't need CB to declare war on everyone. It's really strong in the early game and makes learning the game so much easier!
You mention wanting to install a "powerful" vassal so he will be safe from his own vassals, but what does this mean? High prowess? Or high "leadership" stats, or whatever you call those. I notice you chose your Steward rather than a powerful knight, so I figure the latter, but just wanted to make sure.
Im very noob at the game and I have a question. Why choosing a ruler that already exists? What is the the problem of creating one by zero and choosing the traits you want? (Sorry if the english is bad, its not my 1st language)
Alba is honestly the worst thing to deal with Love starting at Desmond, really difficult start for this strictly due to Alba If you couldn't tell, I really dislike Alba
i dont understand, you can just declare wars on other countries but when im playing i have to use the priest guy to justify and get only a very small piece of land
You picked the later start date - make sure you change the start date to 867 (very beginning of the guide). That will make your starting government Tribal, which means you can attack anyone without having to fabricate a claim first.
With the new legitimacy mechanic, it really hits you hard if you marry a commoner woman. Are the stats still worth that hit or should we just find the best spouse from a noble house?
Maybe I'm having trouble because I'm not a grandmother. Also, wouldn't having a massive court full of people who resent you give hostile schemes free agents?
What are you having trouble with? I can try to help. Yeah that can potentially be an issue - but if you have a good spymaster and you keep your close courtiers and wife on good terms then it will be much harder for any scheme to go through. You'll usually run into issues when your wife hates you or the court physician.
Strat- great video- forget bannerlord-not worth your time, it only crashes. crashed for 4 years for me-unplayable then unplayable now. Many New games coming out this year- much better than BL. So play them also and CK3. A lot of good mods out for CK3. You don't need to be a purist- mods are now integral to gameing/expected. Thanks
So the truce means you attacked them, but they can still raid you. You can try to catch them while they are raising (raise army in the red flag, send them into the raiders and profit). Otherwise you just have to wait until the truce is over and then attack them again.
You didn't make a custom ruler and go over the points or anything? I think most games default to allow achievements so unless you messed with the settings, it should pop up
It's because we're starting as a Tribal Government, which gets a CB against anyone in diplomatic range. That's why I recommend starting as Tribal when you're first learning the game - it simplifies things a lot!
I do plan on making a video like this for each of the Paradox games! I've got close to 5k hours into EU4 so that should be an easy one. I've got a couple hundred into HOI4 so I need more time with that and Stellaris 0 hours - need more time :)

"52, you're about to die". Me, 53... "Oh."
Maybe I should go back to getting Foehammer in BG3 again. ~ RL Grandma. :D
Seriously, though, good guide. I like Desmond as a start, but there's usually a kinda useless heir, even if your starter bloke is pretty good.
Thanks! Yeah I really like the positioning of Desmond as well, but the heir can be tough to deal with.
Before you press play at start its always good to start a personal scheme , be it learning a language or romantic pursuit. No time to waste
Yeah that's a great point - I always forget until several years in lol
“We cut this guys foot off so that’s pretty cool.” 💀
"Make sure you toggle your wife" 😂
giggidy
This just begs for "out of context" compilation!
There used to be a series for Arumba’s old ck2 series. I remember one about the Ethiopian Jews that was pretty funny
This is exactly why I just hit all my adjacent enemies on tribal 866 start I never want enemies sieging my capital for free.
You sir, are terrifying! Good stuff.
Your humour is on point 👌
>Beginner's Guide
>3:45:17 hours long
😭
It's technically half that length, but I decided to put both play throughs depending on which one you might need help with more. The smooth run is easier to follow, but the 2nd playthrough is more accurate since this game loves to dump problem after problem on you at the same time lol I also put a ton of timestamps to help jump around to the spots you might be struggling with the most.
@@Strat-Guides That's very cool of you. I just can't get over the fact that Paradox Games need feature length movies as tutorials to even start playing 😂
@@cavemann_ feature length is 90 minutes
Me with 400+ hours in the game. Ahh yes this is for me
Lol hopefully there was something interesting here for you, but I have my doubts :P
@@Strat-Guidesactually has good useful info 👍🏻
My Bannerlord hero rescues me as soon as I buy CK3
Nice, good luck with CK3! Just keep in mind, there is a lot of RNG in this game and sometimes you just get dumped on by the AI while other runs you'll have 0 problems rolling everyone. If you get stuck or ganged up on, just restart and try again. Don't give up!
"Merry him off to someone that's old" "Yeah, 35, that's perfect" xD
Well we don't want them TOO old, cause they won't have any kids :)
Damn, respect for your work bro
"So he's just going to rot in our dungeon" 🤣
Just got the game, thank you for the detailed guide. What DLC should I buy?
My Grandma said : This is guud... Thumbs Up
Bro I needed this definitely saving it
*Vision meme* Maybe I am a Grandma. haha. Great guide.
It makes no sense :/
I would highly appreciate a guide on what to do after your ruler dies and your heir takes over!
By the time I’ve managed to raise my prestige gain again, I’m 40 years old, and it resets next time my heir takes over :/
Is there a way to get to feudalism more quickly? Since I heard that Men at arms cost money to upkeep once you make the switch.
You mentioned 60ish being old, was I super lucky having my first king live to 82?
Possibly - it also depends on a few other things like modifiers to health. You can extend your ruler's life by going down the learning tree (the one on the left that gives health modifiers) or getting a rat catching cat (RNG on getting it or not), etc. 82 is good for the early game!
This game is most based. You play as a real person and manage your family. Only resources which are important are levies and money. Most similar to real life
Excelent guide. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing video 🙏
Thanks for watching!
it took me about 3 days to watch the full vid, but i learned quit a lot... any other vids you might recommend for learning the game?
Gonna need more of this
Using the first version of this video where you only took over Ireland I invaded all of Britannia and subjugated Norway, also placed one of my kids on the kingdom of Brittany, Albion has risen
Holy crap, that's a big expansion! Well done :) Subjugating Norway is a big move - time for all of Scandinavia next!
Main learning, "it's not a big deal" :D
Good morning sir strat gaming guides
Good morning!
Great video mate, can you make challenge video hoi4😊?,
i just like watching your video playing game.
Watching this at .75 speed.....now my slow brain can keep up with you...lmao.
So why is it keeping the vassals in charge of what I’m capturing I’m so lost 😅
Can you make a guide on how to stabilize after taking the empire?
My grandmother wont live long enough for this vid tho
Then she will go out trying, in a blaze of glory! All hail your Grandma :D
Weirdest run I had was that I had a mistress and her husband had my wife as his mistress, then in the end they ended up having a kid who had my surname. Then I sent this kid to study abroad and became the foundation of my eugenics program. XD In the end my house had superhuman descendants.
Funny is that this is the easiest Paradox game BY FAR
My first paradox game was EU4 which kicked my butt early on lol this is definitely easier, but compared to most games out there, it's still very complex.
Do you ever do multiplayer games? Ive started trying them and they are fun. all different ways to play and gives the game a challenge again.
I haven't tried any Paradox game online, but it does seem like a lot of fun! I've seen a few videos and they get up to some wacky stuff lol
More ck3 please
I've got more challenges and guides coming this year for CK3!
47:40 "crash" forsenCD sureeeeee
@HenriqueRJchiki Sadly the game doesn't like running in max speed and crashes all the time for me. Lol there's definitely no reason to savescum a beginners guide - the more problems that pop up, the better the guide will be because it covers a wider range of issues that people will encounter.
how do your armies get better quality mine stay the same at 2 stars even after i got alba and ireland etc,
In your first run when your brother died you said you forgot to marry him.
I remember my first play though started in Ireland attacked my neighbour got raided by vikings they killed me that was it
Wait so how come do you have a casus belli against literally every single county and Dutchy and everyone, but I have to wait 9 months for my bishop to forge one?
In the previous beginner's guide, I did a custom ruler. I figured for this one, I would make it a little more challenging and do the generic rulers!
Alba is honestly the worst thing to deal with
Love starting at Desmond, really difficult start for this strictly due to Alba
If you couldn't tell, I really dislike Alba
Somehow they always manage to get strong alliances. I also hate assaulting their lands - mountains and low supply everywhere!
i dont understand, you can just declare wars on other countries but when im playing i have to use the priest guy to justify and get only a very small piece of land
3:04:52 lol I heard "They got pride month, we got hormones"
I just bought the game, got to the point of winning my first war, then my king got sick and just died..
Keep trying! There's a lot of rng in this game
Wich version and which DLCs are used?
Strat- great video- forget bannerlord-not worth your time, it only crashes. crashed for 4 years for me-unplayable then unplayable now. Many New games coming out this year- much better than BL. So play them also and CK3. A lot of good mods out for CK3. You don't need to be a purist- mods are now integral to gameing/expected. Thanks
Do you not neec casus bellis when you are tribal?
Nope! Tribal can attack anyone in diplomatic range.
@@Strat-Guides Cheers!
hello. very good tutorial but i have a question. i have truce with someone but he raided me even when we have a truce :D what should i do ?
So the truce means you attacked them, but they can still raid you. You can try to catch them while they are raising (raise army in the red flag, send them into the raiders and profit). Otherwise you just have to wait until the truce is over and then attack them again.
@@Strat-Guides aaah ok thank you
I have a big guestion how do i get the acollade? Im a King And i dont have it.
You didn't make a custom ruler and go over the points or anything? I think most games default to allow achievements so unless you messed with the settings, it should pop up
Im wondering how do you declare wars without casus beli?
It's because we're starting as a Tribal Government, which gets a CB against anyone in diplomatic range. That's why I recommend starting as Tribal when you're first learning the game - it simplifies things a lot!
@@Strat-Guides Thank you! Great guide
What the IRS actually does. 33:24 - 33:47
“52, you’re about to die”
would you happen to make a eu4 video like this in the future?
I do plan on making a video like this for each of the Paradox games! I've got close to 5k hours into EU4 so that should be an easy one. I've got a couple hundred into HOI4 so I need more time with that and Stellaris 0 hours - need more time :)
2:03:00 - I mean... It is a medieval game and all, but...
Need one for EU4
