Operation Nordwind is actually about capturing Strasbourg, one single province, and I've done it pretty easily even on my first test run, just with the divisions next to it

Germany should have armored trains by 1945 since theres a few occasions where the Germans used armored trains with artillery to support offensives and defensive operations agasint the Red Army
Will say having played this start date, I think I either lucked out or the AI was just confused cause I saved my Budapest divisions easily with the forces there... mind ya I still lost but I managed to save my budapest divisions so I take that as a win.

A europe ravaged by such ferocious fighting, cities and industries bombed to hell and back, crops burned, unimaginable atrocities conducted to civillians out of sheer spite or racial hatred, millions of people relocated back and forth with a large % of them dying by starvation in a random field or forest whilst hiding from bomber raids. Virtually every able bodied man from 12-60 is either rotting in a trench or fighting somewhere else with only the woman and the kids left behind to grow crops ( of those still intact) and run the factories. Civillian economy is near total collapse. EVERYTHING is for the war effort. On the other hand, Soviet union is annihilated for decades, with entire generations killed in the frontlines, cities and villages razed and burned to the ground, leaving behind an alien uninhabitable "scorched earth" environment filled with unexploded ammunition, dead bodies, gasoline and ash. Allies experience WW1 levels of KIA, humiliation, starvation and never ending indiscriminate bombing raids. Lets not even talk about the ethnic cleansings and unfathomable horror that the Balkans would suffer in the hands of fascist terror squads. Global trate would cease to exist, no marshall plan, and mainland Europe will need minimum 50 years to revert back to its pre-war level. Russia is just no more.
