You can add smithing stage with 4focus points and than 300 trade with 2focus poins and how to level up efectively your character and companions during mercancery stage with helping with Siege defence/Siege engines. I found enginering and Stewart are not important/waste because companion can do it. You need points in late game when you Are ruller you need 250 riding And 225 scouting to prevent lords from Escape.
Even as a highly experienced Bannerlord player(approaching 10,000 hours), and a channel featuring advanced tactics for late-game campaigns, I still rely on Strat for all of my nuanced learning episodes. This guy is the authority on Bannerlord.
General, good to see you here! Your tactics helped me greatly during my time as a mercenary for Sultan Unqid against the Vlandians. I managed to defeat a force of Vlandian knights, numbering around 230, with just 80 infantrymen, many of whom were only tier 3 and 4. I was commanding them within an army, though I was just a commander and not the army leader.
@@Jezecek02 Love hearin' that brother. I daresay between the incredibly deep content here and the complex tactics we share, you have ALL you need to crush it at Bannerlord with ease. Cheers!

There is another easy and common quest: villager needs tools. i always have a couple for that quest and buy a few (5 to 10) when i see them dirt cheap in a town. Actually, how much you get paid per influence as a mercenary depends on how rich the guy is you ask. usually the best one is the faction leaders and the clan leaders. i've been contracted for 250 to 300 in the past. In regards to marriage: go to the clan leader or parent. sometimes you can outright ask to marry someone eligable in their clan and you get into the trading menu. Crazy but i bought some wifes for some swords and horses. that way i skip the skill checks. M&B is about the thrill of the fights. so all that auto resolving is a bit sad. but yeah, for the purpose of a guide, its fine. and even with my many hours in the game learned something from watching ("only" the auto resolve ratio for siege defense).
I skipped from the beginning to phase 4 because that’s where I struggle at and the change in your tone because of how tired you were was so funny to me lolll

When i get to a better place in life i am buying a pc so i can enjoy it more !! I am very thankful for your guides and your tests, you have always been my go to when i am lost here ! Much love from iceland 😋
I’m about 60 hours into my game. In this video I already learned 3 things that have been driving me nuts. Where to see the breakdown of your map speed, that you can slaughter animals instead of just buying meat and hides, and that relation is directly related to recruiting. All that in the first 20 min. Ohhhh the time I’ve wasted
Pro tip for auto battles: terrain type can factor in a good chunk of whether or not you'll be victorious. Some units receive major debuffs depending on the terrain type, usually if you hover over the auto resolve option before you push it'll tell you: terrain type, buffs, and debuffs to what units. This system also applies to sieges.
You know, as someone who's played a considerable amount of Warband and Bannerlord, I really appreciate videos like this. I consider myself pretty good at both but there's still plenty of stuff I likely don't know. And being only 40 minutes in, there's already several things (especially like getting and butchering cattle right at the beginning for more money) that I've never really thought to do. Thank you for putting this together!
It's really amazing, honestly, that you are still giving so much attention to a game that gave up on itself for some time now. Great guide, this one is pure gold for anybody that gives the game an opportunity for the first time.
Disclaimer for new players: Depending on what kind of person you are, this playstyle might suck the fun out of your game and cause you to breeze through it without any challenge and sense of accomplishment. If you're super invested in the real time combat part of the game like i am and you have no problem with taking risks and failing here and there, then just do that. There's a ton of money and renown to be gained just by beating (preferably stronger) enemy parties. Not to mention the absolutely IMPOSSIBLE wins you can pull off when manually commanding your troops while highly outnumbered. I recommend the RBM mod on max settings as it introduces some crucial combat balance changes to the game imo. Especially if you want cavalry to have ANY significance. I did one playthrough on vanilla and am currently on my RBM one and I don't see myself ever uninstalling it. It's simply so much deeper and nuanced. If you're used to vanilla combat, it will feel quite alien at first and cause you to reevaluate the whole combat system, but i would wager that it's absolutely worth it for most fighting oriented players.
@@Strat-Guides That's the fun part for most players, exploring and finding their own instead of someone feeding you all the right answers. The feeling of exploring the unknown instead of memorizing all the step by step guide. I don't want to watch 3h long tutorial just to start playing the game. Have you ever done that yourself on any other game?
@@aaaaaaaard9586 This guide isn't meant for every single Bannerlord player. It's meant for those who need help or who want to skip parts of the learning curve. It's not mandatory to watch this before loading the game, so if it's not for you, skip it. You won't hurt my feelings lol
A good way to become the tournament champion for that sweet, sweet 1 renown a day is to get to clan tier 2, save up influence, and form the biggest army you can, while victories account for winning the actual tournament, it is also affected by how many lords participate in the tournament, so lets say your doing a tournament with 2 lords, you will get 3 victories on the tournament leaderboard instead of 1
When you defended the siege at about 1:30:00, it would be better to take all the prisoners and immediately donate them to the dungeon. Didn't play for a while, so no idea if that's still the case, but you used to get influence for donating prisoners, and since you're in the castle and paused after the battle, there is no tick that will allow any prisoners to escape. Edit: Yeah, just a few minutes later you donate prisoners for influence. So it still works.
Good catch! The only downside I would say to keep in mind there - if it's the AI's fief you're defending, you have to make sure you can be there to defend it or else those prisoners will become enemy troops instantly if the fief falls.
@@Strat-Guides Oh, yeah, that would be a problem, and there you are already at the vassal stage, so that is a concern. If you're a mercenary, though, who cares? Get paid, let them figure it out.
I'm happy to hear that! Bannerlord has a bit more RNG when it comes to quests and items available at towns, but hopefully this is still easy enough to follow. I recommend having the notion page with the checklist open for this one since you might run into quests earlier than I did in my run.

Been watching your vids for a while now. If I may add a little bit of extra info for the escort quest you started at 38min, when you have enough troops it pays to stay ahead of the caravan and intercept the raiders before the caravan gets into combat so that they dont lose any members. Also, there is only 1 quest based group of enemies between each town, however if a large enough group of bandits or raiders gets close enough they will attack the caravan, this can be a problem if the route takes you past a hideout. As for the caravan ambush mission, there is a mission, there is a minimum required follow distance or the raiders wont spawn. This is as far as I got in the video before work, so I apologize if you cover this later. Really enjoy how informative your videos are, and the have helped me alot, keep up the good work.
Great video! Don’t remember if it was mentioned, but smelting bandit gear down early game for smithing materials is a good money maker and smithing xp for later on
I remember playing this when it first came out. Was so aggressive with combat, shield bashing, kicking, etc. started playing again a few days ago… combat feels real strange. Just slashing back and forth until a shield breaks or they have a polearm and crush through. Or I get a few lucky hits by whipping my screen to hit faster.

@@Strat-Guides Super easy to forget, once you have it enabled you never really think about it again. May I ask what version you play on? I noticed you have RTS camera so I am guessing 1.2.10? Edit: Just looked at your most recent video .. lmao
I've got around 180 hours in bannerlord and never got far with the strategy aspect of the game. Most of my time's been spent making money, fighting bandits and winning tournaments. When I was a vassal or mercenary I got frustrated being the under equipped caretaker of the AI, but its good to know now that it's part of the experience 😆
Starting a new play through tomorrow , I normally go British due to the loving the speed penalty reduction, what other clans should I try and start with
You can stick with Battania still! I would probably try to be a vassal of a kingdom bordering Battania so you have a good chance of getting all the Battania land for yourself. The AI gives you a bonus on the voting power for fiefs when your culture matches and a debuff to anyone else in the kingdom with mismatching culture
It always seems like the moment I become a merc all the work dries up and I'm stuck in a loop of village raiding and staying financially stagnant. Enterprises used to fill this gap in Warband but workshops do fuck all unless you get a degree in microeconomics.
Great video bro! Beginners guide for a game like bannerlord are never enough. Also, do you know how clan parties and kingdom parties work? Runned several test playthrougths and still don't understand how it works. They never build up a party with more than 40 troops even if I gave them a city.
Thanks! It usually has to do with 2 things - Clan tier and how much money they have. If they have a low clan tier then their party limits will be low. If they have no cash, they won't hire many troops. You can give more fiefs or you can directly give them money through barter - talk to anyone in their clan directly and just give denars without asking for anything in return.
Strat i think you forgot about workshop having its own Risk, owning Workshop basically end of Mercenary life. As a Mercenary , Workshop got destroyed when your employer at war with the faction your workshop belong. Great guide, thnks👍
Yeah it's definitely a risk. I mentioned to hold off on buying until you know who you'll serve as a vassal for, because when you make the switch it will still be your workshop. I really hope they patch Workshops to be useful again someday lol they feel underwhelming still
@@Strat-Guides I want to choose other but eveything else can be sorted with money speed Penalty can not , I’ve only been playing for 2 months starting a new play through tomorrow
Gather round young ones, gather round !! The Maester is about to ramble again, so pay attention! Otherwise you’ll all be serving on the wall. In all seriousness, love the content Strat !! I miss the stream last time. Did Abarash the Wandering Knight survived your Westerosi campaign?
Great video! I had a blast playing while following along. Any chance you'll be doing a part 2 on progressing to the end game? Also, do you have any other videos you'd recommend as a good follow-up from here?
Interesting idea - I was planning on leaving this here and letting people explore beyond this point, but I could consider a beginner's guide to mid/late game. I've got some world conquest campaigns that would be helpful I think since that's mostly late game logistics - it's on my Let's Play channel: Strat Plays. I've got several playlists on there!
Question: how important would you say it is to get Fiefs that match your culture so as to not suffer the big loyalty penalty? Is it worth delaying becoming a vassal until your desired faction is at war with the faction of your culture (or at least has fiefs of your culture) so you dont suffer those big loyalty penalties? Also is it super important to just form your own kingdom or is it valid to just join an existing one and potentially rise to become its monarch?
Don't delay getting your first fief - but you can give up your current holdings as soon as you take a fief of matching culture to make sure you get it. I would say it's much easier to manage early on, but in the late game it will make very little difference. Once you get the Loyalty buildings up and the policies for loyalty passed, you'll be fine with any fief
@Strat-Guides Thanks. Also is joining other lords' armies worth it? They tend to just get all my high tier troops killed, sometimes in winnable battles they completely flub.
I love the idea behind the game. I like the big battles, it is however quite annoying to have a 200+ size army and only have half come to battle, because the opposing army is so huge (love 250 vs 1300+ on easier settings), the personal fighting system has a steep learning curve but can be quite fun. What I do dislike a freaking lot is the AI and diplomacy system. AI allies never help you and only run around like a headless chicken with huge armies or take over & lose any siege you started. You can be sieging the last city or castle of a kingdom and before being able to finish your allies decide not only to make peace, but also pay tribute, which will be for eternity because the bad AI will never allow me to propose a war against them.
If someone wanted to focus a little more on combat would you change the starting points? Also, thx for the guide! I played the first one, put only played a little of the 2nd.
They will definitely update it again - I see them doing stuff on the steam database (it shows patch testing) but add more features, probably not. The only way I see that happening is if it's a DLC.
@@Strat-Guides gotcha hopefully they just announce their stopping support so modders don’t have to keep updating. maybe they started focusing on a new title when unreal 5 came out
I think Bannerlord was refining the steps for this portion of the Game. I wish for a Total War: Bannerlord. The Battles? Bannerlord with more command options and bonuses like Total War. Be able to control formations like that but still control your guy.
Perfect timing, I just started my second run ever a week ago using your tips to try a world conquest run! One question, I’m playing campaign and when I rescued my brother his skill points have already been assigned even though I’m certain I disabled that option at character creation. Is this a known bug? Super disappointing, he was gonna be my super Governor…
So if I recall, him having unassigned points and perks as the bug lol it wasn't supposed to be that way. With that said, I do miss it because it was nice having a super-governor or super-party leader

For anyone who is new, make sure to enable the birth and again options module if you want to have aging and death.
Good point, I didn't think to cover it in the video but you're right!
@@Strat-Guides Super easy to forget, once you have it enabled you never really think about it again. May I ask what version you play on? I noticed you have RTS camera so I am guessing 1.2.10?
Edit: Just looked at your most recent video .. lmao
@@thebiglebrowski3695 Yeah 1.2.10 - I was able to release the mod video yesterday :D
32:27 did not know you could do that 😂
Great video that explains in detail how the game works.
Thank strat ❤
I've got around 180 hours in bannerlord and never got far with the strategy aspect of the game. Most of my time's been spent making money, fighting bandits and winning tournaments. When I was a vassal or mercenary I got frustrated being the under equipped caretaker of the AI, but its good to know now that it's part of the experience 😆
"Headwrap, nice, we got a helmet now" 😝
@@user-gf5qo7us1q beggars can't be choosers lol
@juniorkouhai4952 yeah that's why i recommend looking for quests that spawn combat. Caravan, bandit hideout and extortion by deserters are all decent.
Hmm i already defeated the empire as battania sooooo...... yea i absolutely need to watch another Strats begginer guide.
@@Strat-Guides Thanks a bunch. Gonna try it out later.
I really hope they patch Workshops to be useful again someday lol they feel underwhelming still
watching the whole thing just in case I missed anything in the last 100 hours
1800hrs in game, never conquered calradia.
I can’t go any other clan then British to start with , that movement speed is everything
Yeah that's my favorite culture to start as well
@@Strat-Guides I want to choose other but eveything else can be sorted with money speed Penalty can not , I’ve only been playing for 2 months starting a new play through tomorrow
Bannerlord is absolutely incredible
Could you please add the mod list you used for this video?
Thank you just in time to show my buddy grandpa lol
I have learned i say the names of all the towns wrong lol
I was following this guide and sided with the Northern empire as a vassal my first fief was the same castle that you acquired: Thorios Castle
Hey Lucho! I don't recall Abarash making into the army just yet, i'll double check today. I'll be streaming it again around 10 or 11am PST
Loved this. Much of it I know (from watching your other videos primarily) but nice and concise. However, where's the Notion link Strat?
I forgot to add it when I posted it, but it should be there now! Sorry for the mistake!
Fine, I'll play Bannerlord again for 1,000,000 time
If someone wanted to focus a little more on combat would you change the starting points? Also, thx for the guide! I played the first one, put only played a little of the 2nd.
@garrettclarke2266 yeah if you're interested in combat, put focus points into control or vigor depending on which one!
I legit can’t find a noble to talk to so I can become a mercenary
do you think they are gonna update bannerlord again or add features?
They will definitely update it again - I see them doing stuff on the steam database (it shows patch testing) but add more features, probably not. The only way I see that happening is if it's a DLC.
@@Strat-Guides gotcha hopefully they just announce their stopping support so modders don’t have to keep updating. maybe they started focusing on a new title when unreal 5 came out
I think Bannerlord was refining the steps for this portion of the Game. I wish for a Total War: Bannerlord. The Battles? Bannerlord with more command options and bonuses like Total War. Be able to control formations like that but still control your guy.
Thanks for the video, I was going to show it to my grandma, but she doesn’t understand english, she is also dead, so there is that
Lol same, RIP all of our grandmas :D
we need a guide like this for hoi4
That's on my list! Same with EU4
@@Strat-Guides Ah geez, well I guess it was too good to be true haha! I noticed from my last run they also patched being given the first settlement conquered after joining a faction too. I guess it’ll improve the challenge overall. Thanks so much for continuing to make these videos, I’ve probably watched two hours of old guides last week refreshing my game plan!
@@Strat-GuidesHey Strat, just thought I’d let you know I contacted Tales World support and they confirmed that assigning the brother’s skills was in fact a bug.
@@zentonil Okay cool, thanks for the heads up!
