You deliver the tutorial in such a digestible way AND explain the mechanics in enough detail that we can know how to interact with them. That's why your channel is my favorite for learning CK3!
Bro with your calm demeanor I was caught off guard with the sound bites sprinkled in throughout the video. Great timing on all of them. I also like how they weren’t all the same overused meme sounds used in most videos (don’t get me wrong I love those as well). Thanks for making the guide, you did a great job.
Ah,my first game. I started on a single county island. 30 glorious years of peacefully raising a family, marrying them off and not putting my counsel to work. This ended when a holy war was called on me.
For a while I thought you were going to say it ended when you died and continued playing as an off branch family of someone you forgot you married away 30 glorious years ago.
I united half of India through diplomacy and skullduggery, didn’t understand much about holding the legal right to lands, had 17 kids, lived 50 years, lost my son Sura to illness, lost my spymaster wife, then finally had a seizure and died. Probably bumped my head or something, or more likely, I just couldn't bear the grief anymore. Losing little Sura hurt, man. And then suddenly 95% my land was gone to the MANY legal claimants and the new maharaj of Lanka was spit outta luck. Great game. I'll remember you, Sura.
10:15 If you win a war by sieging down every county of your enemy, make sure to ransom all your hostages before you demand their surrender. You can safely ransom heirs and even the war-leader and can still demand surrender, as you get +100% war-score if every county is besieged.
@@TheDirtyShaman i wouldn't say most, unless it's a small realm where you're fighting a count or something. Any hostages that provide war score get released on war's end. So, the only situation where most hostages would contribute to war score is when all the counties you siege belong to the top liege and all your prisoners are their family members. I prefer to win though battles and sieging. You almost never need to siege an entire realm to win a war, unless, again, you're fighting a smaller realm anyway. I try to ransom "valuable" hostages as soon as I get them. The rest can wait until after the war is over.
@@Crazy_Diamond_75 I'm a noob but doesn't ransoming important prisoners lower your warscore? It happenes to me once. I don't recall who it was that I ransomed, but I had a pretty high warscore, maybe even 100%, and as soon as I did it it decreased signigicantly

Yeah I tried HOI4 and just couldn't get into it. CK3 is so much more fun because of not having to deal with the complicated economy systems or having to deal with 3 different military systems (land air sea).

after watching you save that game and create the Kingdom of Aragon I am newly inspired to pick up this game again. I have lost so much knowledge of CK and CK2 that this video seems like the best place to start anew.
Great video! I've got experience with other Paradox games such as Hearts of Iron 4 and Stellaris, but since I got Crusader Kings 3 as a birthday gift, I've been stumped on where to truly begin. This really helped.
27:56 Your children will get their childhood traits at 3 years old and at 6 years old they will start to gain education in their chosen focus. You will get a notification if a child reaches the age of 6 without having a guardian assigned to it. Your guardians will increase the education based on their stats in the education focus and half as much by their learning stat. Both your children and their guardians will also fare better in education if they have intellect traits, with the genius trait giving the best odds. Your court tutor will also increase the education based on their aptitude.
@@gujjewman96 There is no downside to immediately assigning them a guardian, but you will get the same result if you assign them on the child's 6th birthday. If you have few potential guardians, it will be worth it to wait, as they would otherwise waste 6 years they could spend educating someone else.
This is a brilliant video. I've been playing since it came out on console and this video showed me so much that I was getting wrong. Thank you so much.

Thank you very much, that offered great insights and I love the calm and jet fluid and "fuzzless" way you explain everything: it is just a pleasure to watch. I just boght CK3 and in my first run for the last I fear 24h ours or so I somehow was as lost as I always seem to be in Paradox games, yet I always get drawn into them for their realism and really do pity that and always end up with a similar bad experience no matter the actual game. What I took from your video is, that perhaps it isn't all my fault in gameplay (or patience :D ) but in scenario choice, because it seems to be that I try to play too specific, e.g. starting as a really small feudal duchy in Europe since this is my howntown. Most of the things you did I simply couldn't do. The tips menu was complaining all the time that I exceed my property limits and should install vassals since I also don't profit from cities and churches, but couldn't give them away for they would then split off my realm just as you explained. On the other hand I couldn't claim any new kingdom titles to prevent this, because the game said you can't create a title equal to your lords title.... I really was stuck with almost no money and more or less nothing to do except waiting for birth and death of heirs. But obviously there really can me more to the game :D So I'll definitly will have a look now at more of your videos, perhaps I can even find a way to finally to make my home-duchy an Imperium :D :D :D ;)
Excellent video showing off - what I think - are more intermediate or advanced topics (I legit didn't even know there was a "research" tree or a place for you to dump prestige) but within a beginners context. Well done.
The most enjoyable part of CK3, in my opinion, is once you have a good grasp on the game's mechanics, you can play however you wish. You can set specific personal goals for each campaign. You can take the normal Paradox game route and just try and conquer as much as you can. You can choose to keep your realm small, playing tall to outcompete your larger neighbours. You can focus on expanding your dynasty, perhaps not ruling everything personally, but as a family. My personal favourite way to play is by starting at the bottom of a vassal hierarchy within a large realm and eventually climbing my way to the top. I have to utilise many different game mechanics, forming a plan through many decades or even centuries, and that makes gaining that kingdom/empire title all the more satisfying.
31:32 Your tribal vassals contribution scale with your level of fame (which you can see by hovering over your prestige), up to 40% tax and a massive 75% of their levies. Their contribution will get cut in half if you do not hold the de-jure title directly above them.
@Paul Gauthier true, but since this was meant for new players I purposely used prestige instead of fame, as this video went into the respective currencies but not into their corresponding levels. If there was only a mention of fame, new players might struggle to find where they see their level of fame in the UI, thus the mention of prestige.
28:27 Another tip for new players: Check and double check what you click - Diplomacy and Learning have very similar icons (scrolls and books respectively). It did not seem like Zieley actually clicked the Learning focus for his kid. (looks like he did click (maybe behind the scenes) but be sure to be aware)
Watched this video instead of doing my Uni work, that is saying something about this video hehe (its sooooo good!) Straight afterwards I booted up the game and have decided to rule Ireland too hehe!
Great tutorial. I remember learning CK2 by playing as an Irish county but haven't played the series in a long time. This video helped me get back on my feet, thanks.
Really glad I found this, watching you play was a joy, you explained everything really well and added some much needed humor as well. Put a couple hundred hours into CK2, but it was long enough ago I forgot a lot of stuff (and CK3 is different enough as well). Got it on free trial gamepass and thoroughly checking it out before getting it permanently through steam. This really gives me a leg up. Great video
This is actually my first go at a strategy game and I feel like CK3 is surprisingly accessible and intuitive for the most part. With the help of this introductory guide I actually managed to consolidate all of Ireland + take the Isle of Mann and a few Scottish territories while maintaining stability, prosperity, and advancing my culture (despite the occasional peasant revolt or Nordic raid). 👍
To invite courtiers, each year, I just search for a physician, invite both options and choose none as physician. Cheaper than inviting knights. Also, you can move your capital's Rally point. All you have to do is just maintain one, wherever it is. Also, I would advise not getting married until you are around 40, to make sure you son i not too old when you start palying it.
That's almost worst advice than the guy in the video gave when he married a women with THREE zero traits from Barcelona Spain that gave him an alliance with only about 450 more troops! not nearly enough to justify the distance they were from where he was!
Glad I found your channel. Can you explain the pros/cons giving land to your sons rather than non-family members of your court when you are at the domain limit?
Just started watching your videos....idk why either since I don't play CK3 but yet I know have watched about 2 hours of your content....anyways, 10/10 recommend anyone to visit Ireland.

The controls on console are so unintuitive. All the detailed windows on PC like seeing enemy alliances are so difficult to find unless you’re actually at war with them or about to declare it. It’s so hard to prepare for war with a certain person if I can’t even find out how powerful they are with their allies

I jumped into CK3 about 2 weeks ago (playing as the Irish, as that seemed like a good learning point) and I am learning A LOT from this video. THANK YOU
This is great...I've been playing almost 50 hours and not picked up a lot of the finer points of this. Good job...and yeah some of the sound bites and graphics are amusing.
I could not even play this game before i watched this thx man. Best starting tutorial i seen by far
This was the only tutorial/guide/walk through that actually made me learn and finally understand how to play this game. Thank you!!! CK3 is my first ever introduction to this type of genre and Im love it. Although before watching your video I was getting frustrated with how steep a learning curve it was for me. You really helped me out here!
Oh man. I've seen a lot of CK 3 videos, but this one finally gave me ennough confidence to want to start playing.
No Guide has Helped me this much. though no categorically Divide you explained everything that all other guides tend to miss out... Earned a Sub Bro
This video has helped me become a better player at CK3 by leaps and bounds - Very informative and I’ve learnt new things that I didn’t know you could do - Keep up the good work - Love your edits by the way.
I fucking love your where's Waldo openings. it's quite charming.
I’ve played EU4 and CK3 a lot, and I never even noticed that CK3 have dice rolls for battles. Rip. Thanks for this video!
after watching you save that game and create the Kingdom of Aragon I am newly inspired to pick up this game again.
This really helped.
i love this game but get overwhelmed real easy so thank you very much friend
55:06 You need 70% of innovations, rounded down to the next full number (0.7*14=9.8)
So I don't need to start educating them as soon as they are born? I just assign them a guardian when they are born and then don't care anymore.
I am watching this while waiting on my car in the shop, and I am literally laughing out loud at some of the memes/sound effects in the video. Excellent humor and informative.
I wanted to watch mr streamer's ck3 playthroughs but the game seemed overwhelming, thanks for helping me understand the basics!
Thanks for the video! I'm a newbie to Crusader Kings and have been trying to learn it.
Gonna give this a shot. I’ve watched two other “beginner” tutorial videos. They left me more confused than the in-game tutorial.
Great video. I've been thinking and thinking about getting CK3 for a long time (Got CK2 but barely played as I found it way too overwhelming). I finally got it. This video was excellent. Thanks
Coming from someone who’s only paradox game has been Hoi4, you saying 15 years is nothing gets me super excited.
I've been playing for hours, starting to figure stuff out, created a custom character to be a god among men with maxed out stats so I can get a feel for the game, Ragnar the Skald. Now I know why I had no control, I had no idea about the council tasks
But obviously there really can me more to the game :D
So I'll definitly will have a look now at more of your videos, perhaps I can even find a way to finally to make my home-duchy an Imperium :D :D :D ;)
There is a perk that you can get that allows you to claim multiple counties and such in a single war
Ducal conquest?
@@JohnYoga Ok?
31:32 Your tribal vassals contribution scale with your level of fame (which you can see by hovering over your prestige), up to 40% tax and a massive 75% of their levies. Their contribution will get cut in half if you do not hold the de-jure title directly above them.
@Paul Gauthier true, but since this was meant for new players I purposely used prestige instead of fame, as this video went into the respective currencies but not into their corresponding levels. If there was only a mention of fame, new players might struggle to find where they see their level of fame in the UI, thus the mention of prestige.
I actually laughed out loud after the opening line because it pertained to me so much……😂
This is mind opening, thank you!
Im not a beginner but im watching it anyway cause i like your voice
Watched this video instead of doing my Uni work, that is saying something about this video hehe (its sooooo good!) Straight afterwards I booted up the game and have decided to rule Ireland too hehe!
I bought CK3 when it first got released and played the tutorial and still overwhelmed lol
"Ive come for your pickle"
Took me waaay off guard
Learned more in this hour than playing for like, 20 hours with a friend of mine lol thanks
Great tutorial. I remember learning CK2 by playing as an Irish county but haven't played the series in a long time. This video helped me get back on my feet, thanks.
well, interested in this game but damn what a complicated thing to learn
As someone just starting this vid breaks things down to make it easy to understand, perfect vid 👌🏽
Thank you man. I’m finally getting a hang of this game because of you. A scholar, a gentleman.
I just heard your opening sentence and know I've foune the right place and video. Cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪 👍
i swear the sound effects get me every time lmao
Nice! Watching your save your game videos helped me a ton in understanding the game. Now I'ma watch this cause I love your content in general lol
When the games so complicated that it almost requires several college courses to get basic understanding
I love it
That’s a first video like this that I could follow. Thank you for your work.
Have played loads, but needed a refresher, and even learned a couple of things I never knew. love your videoes :D
Zieley is the only CK3 youtuber worth watching.
Great video, thanks. Very detailed and I appreciate you highlighting your preferred buildings. On that subject, what is your preferred Duchy building?
Really glad I found this, watching you play was a joy, you explained everything really well and added some much needed humor as well. Put a couple hundred hours into CK2, but it was long enough ago I forgot a lot of stuff (and CK3 is different enough as well). Got it on free trial gamepass and thoroughly checking it out before getting it permanently through steam. This really gives me a leg up. Great video
Dude I swear I wasn't even playing the same game lol you've taught me so much. Thanks!
Amazing video guide, I wish I had you on speed dial for more CK3 beginner tips. 5/5!
Also, I absolutely appreciate the memes you put in here. Top tier
Another great video mate, must have taken ages to pull this one together. Great work!
Cheers Simon, yeah took a bit longer than normal 😅
@@Zieleycant wait to see what stuff you come up with next mate! Always a great day when you release a video
Can I just say- I appreciate you a lot! I really enjoy your content. Thank you!
4 days in game and I keep resetting tryna find bettwr ways. Thanks to this video I learned about so much I didn't know and now I do I think I'll be doing way better. I eas rlly messing up becoming feudal. As well as how I should divide up my land
Love your openings. Also your voice is very soothing. Your videos rock.
dublin is a good starter county.its easy to play and you get that county below it pretty fast because it is owned by dublins father and hes 71 or something...
You have a pleasant voice. The pitch is comfortable, and your diction is quite pronounced. You should be proud!
The controls on console are so unintuitive. All the detailed windows on PC like seeing enemy alliances are so difficult to find unless you’re actually at war with them or about to declare it. It’s so hard to prepare for war with a certain person if I can’t even find out how powerful they are with their allies
This was - supremely - helpful! Thanks for taking the time to put that together!
When he started united Ireland and was like, "I'm gonna attack this Norse guy"
People that know: 😳 Dude, That's Ivar the Boneless. He's gonna have backup
Excellent vid and pace - easy to follow too. Can’t wait to get back into the game now thanks to this. Thanks!
20:57. The Skyrim effects and music makes me think you know that I'm just trying to learn this to play Elder Kings 2.
Outstanding. Loved the video learned a lot.
Excellent tutorial video. I watched the ones that came with the game and just a lot of confusion.
This was so helpful! Thank you for making this
