Great video - overwhelming to get started even with the tutorial, but this helps to focus what to start with. Would love to see a continuation of this or a series that would go into the other features of the base game.
Thanks! My wife is editing it as we speak actually :) it will cover succession and taking over Britannia to become an emperor. I actually did two to show how much rng is in the game. It's pretty wild
Just... WOW! This guide is so clear and well explained. Please, please, please do more CK3 videos! This was so informative and helped me a lot on my own first playthrough. Now that i've got armies and combat under my belt, i'd like to learn more about the management of domains, etc... Again, extremely well made video!
This was so helpful. Just downloaded the console version and spent a solid hour and a half on the tutorial just to be completely lost afterwards lol. Your tutorials helped me piece a lot of the intricate pieces with what I have figured out just playing through
It's really fun once you can get past the initial shock lol There are so many things you can do in the game, so I find it helps to ignore 90% of them and just focus on taking land and making an army. Then from there you can branch out, but if you try to learn too much too quick it's overwhelming and not at all fun
Strat. My dude. Perfect timing with a video AGAIN. I've been using your Bannerlord guides for ages, started CK3 for the first time last night but quickly gave up with all the new mechanics to learn. Knew I needed to watch some guides, then you drop this one on exactly the day I needed it. Thanks for all the work you put in man 👍
Superb guide. I've been playing a lot of Vic3 lately and just the UI reminds me a lot of that. Side panel, total values of stuff on the top, % chance of different things happening in tooltips etc. I also like the rpg elements, with handling heirs etc. Got some of the stuff off Quill18 streaming it earlier today. You both have convinced me to give this a try! :)
Bought CK3 a few days ago. First game: playing as Thurmond, Ireland, following your guide. Took over Ireland and about a quarter of Great Britain before trying a new game. Second game: Attempted a Kurdistan dynasty. Died in twenty minutes before having any wars, after eating a poisoned plant on my Hajj to Mecca. Third play through: Started as the Byzantine Empire and was making progress expanding east and west, but then Khazaria decided to annihilate me. Fourth playthrough: Started as the lord of Yamama and pretty quickly established the kingdom of Arabia. I have all of Arabia south of the Abbasid Caliphate, and most of eastern Africa. When I went to invade Oman, the Abbasids went to war with me, but fortunately I had allies in Iran and Egypt, and I was pretty much rolling over the Abbasid Empire, pushing close to Kufa before they gave up the war. Everything looks to be going well. Gold rolling in, got prestige, faith, I granted a bunch of vassals so they all like me now. My leader is pushing 60 so I'm going to have my first transition of power soon (I have 11 children). Eager to see how it plays out. I'm thinking of continuing to push into Africa as well as maybe taking on the Byzantine Empire, or I could venture into India instead. I'm still very new at the game (and playing on Easy difficulty) so am probably doing a thousand things wrong. Just trying to learn something new each time I play. It's fun so far. Update: ... Okay, my sultan died like literally two minutes into my next time playing. Kingdom split up into like 8 pieces and I had wars everywhere. Had allies but it was all too much. Decided eh, now I know to limit my heirs. Also almost all my vassals were ambitious which I know now is a major red flag. Now gotta pick where to next. I may try... Let's try Pegu. Start at one corner of the map. Don't need to worry about fighting on two fronts. Quickly establish one corner of the map for myself and expand however possible.
@@Strat-Guides In my 6th or 7th play through, playing as a Polish country. I'm on my third king (both lived into 60s-70s), managed two heir successions well, and have control of most of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as Scandinavia. I'm not even sure how I got it. I thought Sweden was about to go to war with me, went to declare on Sweden, then realized I now controlled it. And THEN I realized my wife was queen of Norway and I was 1st in line, so I had my wife murdered, but my son and heir became king instead (thought it'd be me. Oops). But he's my ally and heir and set to inherit my whole kingdom, so my next player will get Norway anyway. Presently though I've intervened to save my son & heir from like 6 nations invading him. It's a tough war but I think I've stabilized it. Keep my son in power if I can, then continue taking over Europe. I think I've finally got this game figured out.
Man, thank you so much! I had tried playing like 3 different times and every time I would just get totally paralized trying to understand all the different dynamics and stuff and literally never even clicked unpause because I had no idea what to do. I took your advice (although I started with the Petty King Murchad campaign and things were a little bit different) and I quickly grabbed some land and have just created the Kingdom of Ireland. Thank you so much! Please make more CK3 guides.
For sure would be interested in more mechanic videos. I like this game a lot but theres so much that's not super well explained. This was very helpful to get a basis for some of the game mechanics. Thanks Strat
I've got a couple queued up for next year, hopefully in January! I have to finished editing a few campaigns (solo-unit WC in Bannerlord and ultra-hardcore one life Kingdom Come deliverance) but once those are done, I would like to get another CK3 and Project Zomboid challenges going.
Nice, CK3 is a lot of fun as well! It's a bit more complicated upfront, but once you get past the first couple of rulers it's not too bad. I'm working on a couple more CK3 guides this weekend, so that should help some
Please continue the guides on using this save. Would be great to see you finish this series with putting yourself in a position that you can call the save as ‘completed’
Thanks, glad to hear this was helpful! I was thinking about doing EU4 and HOI4 at some point - I'll be sure to do a Grandma's guide for each of the Paradox games I know how to play well. I still need to learn Stellaris though :(
I love you!!!! I want to play this game so bad on xbox, but don't really know anyone that does guides like you, the time you spend doing this is huge. Keep up the good work and never forget to rest. Love from Portugal! ❤
Hopefully this one helps! It's only covering the absolute basics, so I'll need to do more detailed videos as a follow up, but I think if you can get through this on your own then you'll have a solid foundation
Sorry to tell you, but ck3 on console is busted to all hell, I love the game but lab42, the people who port it from pc have screwed the game since launch and has yet to fix any of it. Constant save files deleting and game crashes every 10 minutes... it's sad
Thanks! I've managed to unite all of Ireland, but boy was it TOUGH. I fought the vikings THREE TIMES and had to battle a huge nation in england. One war with the vikings was declared on me, so I just beat them back and sued for white peace, the seconds was an offensive war, which I lost lol, and by the third war I noticed that I can murder their king with a 95% in two years, also killer his heir for good measure, and the once great vikings were led by a 7 year old girl and I ABSOLTELY DESTROYED THAT TODDLER, which got me my piece of land 😊. What was supposed to be the final war on a weakling irish guy turned out to be a nightmare because out of nowhere vikings in the middle of england with 6k troops decided to deny me my dreams and joined the war (idk how, they weren't allied), I lost the war and had to wait ANOTHER 8 YEARS for the truce to expire, so I could promptly kick their ass the second time around and, finally, earn my dominion over all of Ireland. My twisted mind found it fun, I'll probably do it again 😢 Also if you're wondering this run was completed in 23 in-game years
Good old "Newbie Island". Ireland was great to start in for new players in CK2 as well. I'm a veteran player, but I haven't played CK3 in a while and it has changed a fair amount. I hope you choose to dive in and continue to share your insights on this game.
I plan on doing a lot more with CK3 in the near future! I wanted to start off with something easy since I know a good amount of my subs don't play, but might try to pick it up soon so I figured this would help :)
Thanks a lot for this GED lvl guide, amigo! I've been eying this game on the Xbox for a while but was so intimidated by its vast scope. I'm taking it bit by bit. Decided to download now. I'll be watching more of your videos. You have a new Sub!!
Thanks! I'm working on part 2 for this soon where I'll do a similar start (without custom character though) and go from 1 county up to an Empire. We'll have to deal with succession a couple times and managing vassals, etc.
IDK man, a game that is THAT complex ... For new players its absolute hell and I am not sure if we can call it good game design o.O BUT it looks interesting and Ill do my best to understand shit so thank you for your guide. I am just confused by ALL THE STUFF THERE x.x
Hey, you new to the game? Me: Yes Ok. Me: _gets a fire hose off information_ tbh this does help and it's very interesting. You are quite literally very smart to play this insanely complex game
It took me at least 50 hours before I understand wtf was going on in this game lol I did my best to take as much of the game mechanics out of the video and only show the necessities to get going.
Yeah I know what you mean! What I did personally is I just kept replaying and Irish start with a custom ruler until the basic mechanics felt comfortable, then I slowly branched out adding more things to the campaign. Now I feel pretty confident I could handle most challenges. It's not the most exciting way to play, BUT if you keep trying new starts all over the place, it's really hard to learn because there's so many variables. By playing the same (easy) start a few times in a row, it's much easier to get a basic foundation of knowledge
Glad this helped! I just released the follow up to this one this morning actually - I redid this in two more runs, but continued to take the big island and form Britannia. It goes over more stuff like courtiers, succession and fighting really tough wars.
Nice! Hopefully you have fun with this one too :) CK3 has a little more learning curve in the beginning, but I feel like it's a little easier of a game later on
I just noticed now, because of your voice, you're the bannerlord guy! I'm really happy about that, because being 3 minutes into the video, I already know this is gonna teach me exactly how the game works.
Yup! I'll try to get a few more of these out before end of the year :) I also have a new channel where I did a WC in CK3, might be some stuff to learn from that video. Thanks for watching!
@@Strat-Guides Maybe you already know this, or don't care, nevertheless, I found an easy method of preventing rebellions. Hunting often to make sure to stock up on trinkets. When there is a rebel faction gift useless trinkets to them to gain opinion and they will stop wanting to rebel. I hope this was useful to you 😊😊
I usually wait the first year before attacking anyone because there is a lot of raiding going on that first year. Build your army and defeat the raiders first (and perhaps do some raiding yourself, even raiding your eventual target to weaken them first). Then when any potential raiders are too weak to raid you is when you start conquering.
@@Strat-Guides I went as a young student those times, it was great, especially the further you went away from Dublin, the cheaper the pint got. I loved those hidden and empty landscapes at the west coast, where the only living companion were sheeps and some seabirds.

LOVE YOUR GUIDE on CK3, just got it and when opened it up, my brain went into a " jellied, dumb, mess mode " LOL, with your guide, gonna set the game for windowed mode, so can play it, along with your video, thanks so much, as I'm English, living in London, and have an obsession with history, used to play board wargames, in early 1980's, so love all the Milit., Social, and politics of the middle ages, have HOI IV, which just got as well, thats another Mind Blower, when opening, I have recently built my own PC, which is verrrrry powerful, for my art, but now hooked on playing, Milit. sim's, have also Call to arms: Gate's of hell, Steel Divison 2 etc etc, like a kid in a toyshop LOL Keep up the good work, and thanks, for all your time and effort !!!!!! Steve from London UK
Thanks! Hopefully this guide can help out - just keep in mind there is a lot of RNG in this game so you might get bad luck and have to restart a couple times before it goes well. I did a follow-up to this video recently where I did the same thing, but instead of stopping at kingdom I continued to the Emperor title. I included 2 runs doing the same thing and if you watch that one, you'll see how different each run can be lol the first run I had almost no problems at all and completed everything quickly. The second run I had a TON of issues and it took almost 2x as long to do the same thing. Just be patient and willing to restart once in a while until you get the hang of it :)
38:10 would have been an ideal time to attack as you also had the defensive bonus from the castle, low on supply, and recently embarked, not sure if you would get a debuff from the river though.

great vid but as someone who spent weeks IRL time playing this game, I would say that there is definitely few simple and crucial tricks that weren't mentioned
1- The house guard perk is OP early game so as knights and should be rushed
2- you can hire/find good knights without spending gold by giving them any kind of land (same for council and vassals)
3- when your opponent's embarks he loses 30 advantage for a month which is a huge debuff early game (that's why the AI plays a game of tag while embarking sometimes)
4- making alliances with children
5- a good marshal is a must especially early game, a good steward is also useful
6- giving council positions to incompetent characters can be worse than not having any
7- CK3 favors quality rather than quantity so looking to build an army with strong knights and MAA with high advantage would easily cause you to win when outnumbered
8- terrain WIDTH (This one is overlooked by most CK3 players but it plays a huge role in certain cases
9- warscore and how it works
10- recruiting prisoners
and more...

@@ciscoytube5352 I’m told what to do but an explanation of what benefits I get from doing what would be helpful
Very happy with the paradox stuff along with bannerlord!
Really excited to see this channel cover this game. Pdx games are just so complex and after self learning HOI4 I have lost all patience and really need someone to guide me through other games! Thanks again XD
Im glad you actually EXPLAIN why you should do something instead of just telling us what to do.
MORE GUUUUIDES, honestly would love to see a huge Guide Playlist in CK3 from you.
I've got plenty in the works :)
This tutorial was super helpful, I managed to conquer all of Ireland in my first game of CK3 using it. Thanks!
@@oatoil6232 Nice work! Next, all of Britannia :D
This was so helpful. Just downloaded the console version and spent a solid hour and a half on the tutorial just to be completely lost afterwards lol. Your tutorials helped me piece a lot of the intricate pieces with what I have figured out just playing through
I know this is 5 months old. But that might have been the best beginners guide of any game I have played.
Great now I might get into CK3. Always looked interesting from some other creators but now I can see the basics.
It's really fun once you can get past the initial shock lol There are so many things you can do in the game, so I find it helps to ignore 90% of them and just focus on taking land and making an army. Then from there you can branch out, but if you try to learn too much too quick it's overwhelming and not at all fun
Great tutorial. This was exactly what I needed to start playing CK3--thank you!
Strat. My dude. Perfect timing with a video AGAIN.
I've been using your Bannerlord guides for ages, started CK3 for the first time last night but quickly gave up with all the new mechanics to learn. Knew I needed to watch some guides, then you drop this one on exactly the day I needed it. Thanks for all the work you put in man 👍
My dude I have been waiting for a video like this that breaks down the immensity of a world wide micro intensive macro game
I just bought the game and i am terrible. i wasted my money on upgrading the buildings and not the armies…
thank you for this guide
Superb guide. I've been playing a lot of Vic3 lately and just the UI reminds me a lot of that. Side panel, total values of stuff on the top, % chance of different things happening in tooltips etc. I also like the rpg elements, with handling heirs etc. Got some of the stuff off Quill18 streaming it earlier today.
You both have convinced me to give this a try! :)
Love ck3. I have hundreds of hours in thr game and its so awesome seeing you pick it up. Cant wait to see more!
a REALLY solid guide; TY. absolutely would love to see more and a continuation
Update:
Wow you went hard from the start lol! Good job, sounds like you've got a solid understanding of how the game works :)
Great video - would love to see a CK3 play through series from your channel. Love your Bannerlord content - great work!
I've got a couple queued up for next year, hopefully in January! I have to finished editing a few campaigns (solo-unit WC in Bannerlord and ultra-hardcore one life Kingdom Come deliverance) but once those are done, I would like to get another CK3 and Project Zomboid challenges going.
i have 200 plus hours and i never knew you could station units. this guide is extremely helpful.
Never thought would end up watching your video on CK3. Now I will have hell of a ride through CK3 like I had with Bannerlord. Thank you very much.
This already helped me. Ive lived so long and yet did not advance at all. This will change, thank you.
You got this!
This video was great. A follow up on how to run a kingdom, or how to deal with neighboring kingdoms would be great!
Not much of a beginner's guide tbh. You conquest Ireland in the tutorial. Now keeping that kingdom is where the real troubles begin.
please do a tutorial like this for other paradox games. I'm struggling to learn the others but this tutorial made this game so clear
Thanks, glad to hear this was helpful! I was thinking about doing EU4 and HOI4 at some point - I'll be sure to do a Grandma's guide for each of the Paradox games I know how to play well. I still need to learn Stellaris though :(
I was struggling tp get my grandma into CK3, but thanks to this guide she is now a crusader granny. Thanks mate
Constant save files deleting and game crashes every 10 minutes... it's sad
Just got this game last night on gamepass to give it a try, but got kinda overwhelmed. This was a good starting point! Thanks for making it
Keep at it! It's a very complex and overwhelming game. I think it took me 40 - 50 hours before I felt comfortable to run a full campaign.
Thats is a good beginner guide. I have a big problem with the vasals. Hope you make more like this. Thank for your time to do this
I'll definitely cover that soon!
My twisted mind found it fun, I'll probably do it again 😢
Also if you're wondering this run was completed in 23 in-game years
THANK YOU.This was the first video when i get it.Others just talk and talk and talk and i just don't get anything. You save my day, bro. 👍👍👍.
Great stuff as always Strat! Haven't played this game myself but always fun to see your insight and strategy in these kinds of games!
this is such an amazing AMAzing tutorial, thank you! try to make for every game ever
No fluff no bullshit, just what the title says. Thank you so much!
I'm glad this was helpful!! Thanks for watching
Bring more. I love how you bring it now to the core level. Just got CK3 because of your guide.
Me: (has played 500+ hours and a world spanning empire)
Also me: “ooh new tutorial vid, let’s watch during lunch break!”
Lol I do that too - I'm curious how other people approach their campaigns :)
Hey im on ps5 when i added all of correct amount of skills i ended up with 536 customisation points... How to fix ?
Its been a while since I played CK3 but i might just start playing again. Can't wait for more guides.
I came by when you started with BL2, now I am back here for CK3. You indeed have a good taste my man. I Love ya!
Finally a Video about CK3!!! I WAS WAITING SO LONG!!!!
I hope you will make plenty videos about this game
I've got more in the pipeline to do :)
Me: Yes
Ok.
Me: _gets a fire hose off information_
tbh this does help and it's very interesting. You are quite literally very smart to play this insanely complex game
It took me at least 50 hours before I understand wtf was going on in this game lol I did my best to take as much of the game mechanics out of the video and only show the necessities to get going.
Would love to see a continuation of this series !!
You're in luck :D ua-cam.com/video/NOlIw7iBqzg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StratGamingGuides
Really happy to see you play this game !
Hopefully you'll do it again 😊
I just got the game yesterday and now you post this guide haha
Great video. I was quite intimidated when I tried CK3. Might give it another shot after this
Yeah I know what you mean!
Cheers man, your guide was just what I needed to get stuck into this game
Glad this helped! I just released the follow up to this one this morning actually - I redid this in two more runs, but continued to take the big island and form Britannia. It goes over more stuff like courtiers, succession and fighting really tough wars.
I love the fact you dip into paradox and KCD
Wow, what a relief to hear a familiar voice from the banner lord community guiding me into ck3 for my first time :D
Nice! Hopefully you have fun with this one too :) CK3 has a little more learning curve in the beginning, but I feel like it's a little easier of a game later on
So simple but helpful! Best easy to learn tutorial i have seen yet 🙌
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the guide I've been playing ck2 since 2013 and everything looked different. Made me feel old.
This guide was actually helpful I went from Not knowing how to conquer land to conquering Ireland🐸
Nice work! It's a tough game to break into, but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun :D
@@Strat-Guides Will definitely check it out! I'm currently going through your 1h 30m world conquest video which is also amazing!
Great intro to this game and you basically conquered by following my Ireland trip of 1999.
Oh cool, how did you like it?? My wife and I went for a friend's wedding a few years back and it was really nice there.
@@Strat-Guides I went as a young student those times, it was great, especially the further you went away from Dublin, the cheaper the pint got.
I loved those hidden and empty landscapes at the west coast, where the only living companion were sheeps and some seabirds.
Bout to watch this on my breaks at work, thanks m8
Great guide! Love how you keep it movin'.
Glad it was helpful! I did the continuation to this (conquering all of Brittania) in another Grandma guide if you're interested :) It's split into 2 campaigns btw, it's not all one long video lol use the timestamps to find the spots you need most ua-cam.com/video/NOlIw7iBqzg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StratGamingGuides
Would love to see this continued as a guide or more guides from you your bannerlord stuff is still the best on YT
Its about time! this game was made for you, its so percentage based and you seem pretty meticulous bout that kinda stuff!
Thank whoever (u) this video exists, I have watched countless videos and red many guides trying to figure out how to play this game beyond a few months in of getting raided consistently.
I have never had a successful game I've never really made much money or expanded no matter what difficulty I'm on or traits that I acquire... But this video is eue opening to the early game.
I'm really happy to hear that!
LOVE YOUR GUIDE on CK3, just got it and when opened it up, my brain went into a " jellied, dumb, mess mode " LOL, with your guide, gonna set the game for windowed mode, so can play it, along with your video, thanks so much, as I'm English, living in London, and have an obsession with history, used to play board wargames, in early 1980's, so love all the Milit., Social, and politics of the middle ages, have HOI IV, which just got as well, thats another Mind Blower, when opening, I have recently built my own PC, which is verrrrry powerful, for my art, but now hooked on playing, Milit. sim's, have also Call to arms: Gate's
of hell, Steel Divison 2 etc etc, like a kid in a toyshop LOL
Keep up the good work, and thanks, for all your time and effort !!!!!!
Wow, your guide is amazing. I love it! 100/100!
38:10 would have been an ideal time to attack as you also had the defensive bonus from the castle, low on supply, and recently embarked, not sure if you would get a debuff from the river though.
i'm not exactly a new player (i have around 30 hours) but i never managed to fully grasp all the mechanics, thanks a lot !
moar of this...would love a part 2, im new to the game and im using your vid as a starter guide, watched many times now :) but im ready for the next phase...
I'll do more ck3 before end of the year! Sorry I'm dealing with a big move so I don't have much time right now :(
Even though I've played way too much of both ck2 and ck3 I love watching these tutorial videos idk why.
This game looks interesting. I'd like more, I love to see an Elder Scrolls modded playthrough
Thanks for the very easy guide amidst the depth of the game

I need this video for eu4 now
I'll probably tackle EU4 sometime next year! I'm running out of time this year :*(
