"Art of Dying" - Gojira is a must! Commenting for the algorithm.
100% - an absolute must.
That is the perfect song for Geebz to react to! So much nuance and technical aspects to the song, that I would love to hear "decomposed".
This!
Especially the live one
The problem with Gojira is, you can't just pick songs. Art of Dying is a must. But so is Flying Whales and The Cell and Liquid Fire and Backbone and Where Dragons Dwell and and and...
Ohhhh and the old stuff ofc! Remembrance and Love and Clone for example.
This song is a masterpiece. Writing, production and mixing is just perfect
That album is one of my favorite
@@fredesti1 they are a band without a bad album, really. L'enfant Sauvage is an amazing album on its own, could compete against the best of any band and would most likely win.
When I saw them live in 2014 I had a brief conversation with Christian, their guitar player, and I asked him if they'll ever play Born In Winter live. He told me that it uses sort of some special guitar tuning and it's probably never going to be in their set. Shame, cause I'm sure it would bring the house down, great dynamics
@@R1ckDeckard Joe has stated that they won't play it because of how low he has to sing for it as well. Amazing song though
They have the best drum sound in the game
Dude that first pause absolutely killed me. Talk about blue balls 😫
Dude, yes! Check out "The Art Of Dying" as your next Gojira song, you won't regret
I second this 100%
I suggested that one before. My favorite song by them.
abosolutely
One of my favourite songs, such a trip.
I think he'd love the drums and composition of that one more than just about any of their other songs, great suggestion.
"Flying Whales" is Gojira masterclass. Enjoy the week off, man.
🤙🤙Apparently, Gojira has a mighty fanbase. I'm so digging their music but as I move forward I ask you: FROM THEIR FIRST ALBUM which track should I respond to for my next Gojira video? Awwwwwright!🤙🤙
Too many off that one. Absolute killer record but: Lizard Skin, Rise, Satan is a Lawyer, or Clone
technically they weren't gojira until their second album haha (they were called godzilla originally) i cant recomend a song from those early albums but i really think art of dying and flying whales are worth your time!
I think you can never go wrong with the first track on Terra Incognita, called ”Clone”. Other songs from the first album worth noting would be: Love, Deliverance, Lizard Skin
I'd probably go with Clone, but I really like Space Time and the first half of In the Forest
Space Time (Live version from The Link Alive DVD)
"I'm kinda goobering a little bit on the drummer right now..." That is exactly the right thing to be doing ;) Mario Duplantier is his name; his brother Joe does vocals and rhythm guitar. One of my favorite tracks by one of my favorite bands; thanks, man, that made my evening. That look on your face when it comes out of the intensity and settles back into the rhythm for the last few minute or so ... yes. I first heard this song while driving, and had to pull over or I was going to wrap myself around a tree.
Hi, I'm Mario. I have six legs
Hi, I'm Mario, I hate t-shirts
The Art Of Dying is the song we need the Geebz to experience.
that would be an hour of reaction video XD
Definitely. By far their best track
"I don't know what to expect, I'm only half way through it so there could be all kinds of stuff coming at me..." - .5 seconds before the song starts melting faces
"This feels like a good place to stop" - Geebz right before the explosion
I LOVE their song "the gift of guilt" and i think it got some nice changes you might like aswell.
That one was a sleeper track for me. Now it's damn near always stuck in my head. That and pain is a master
gift of guilt and born in winter are my 2 favs off of lenfant sauvage
@@MedTechMetal pain is a master is heavily underrated man
Not enough people react to / discover this track. It's unarguably one of their most breathtaking pieces.
Vacuity is the track that fully locked me into these guys. Still gives me "goose flesh".
Vacuity is such an under rated song. That’s how I felt about “this emptiness” from this album
Totally slept on, not to say their other favorites aren't worthy, but man Vacuity makes my blood pump with each downbeat
Backbone vibes on that one for sure
Ocean Planet piqued my interest. Vacuity got me hooked.
@@OneInTheMosh Backbone got me into extreme metal. My aunt took me to a Gojira concert when I was 12 and I didn’t really pay attention at the first song (I was listening to metalcore and punk rock back then). Then they played backbone and I was just blown away by that outtro/breakdown. It was the heaviest I had ever heard in my life.
Gojira, for me, is the evolution of the predecessor TooL's subgenre. It's so alien, foreign, novel ...never done before... it challenges your soul in it's darkness-void. It's not evil, it's not good...it's depth and void and power. It's themes are death, but not non-existence....not heaven or hell either...but ...just epic
Such great art
i call it the force of nature sound, i think ISIS is another band that creates this sound, it's like aggresive but not violent i don't know how to describe it but it's like a superior ancient force's soundtrack
Gojira is Tool, Meshuggah and Swedish melo-death all in one in some ways. Pretty much one of the very few original metal bands left in this world.
Overuse of kickdrum and screaming.
Not Tool at all.
Shame because they are talented, but jyst want to thrash at music instead of OFFER it.
@@MetaFootballTV "overuse of kickdrum"
tf is that supposed to mean
@@MetaFootballTV Just say you don't like death metal, don't try to find explanations for it
One of my favorite Gojira songs. This is the one that actually really helped me when I was feeling down, because it's such a sweet and supportive song.
For such a heavy sounding band, their lyrics can be so uplifting. It’s a weird combo
@@cmillivol98 Exactly, the same could be said about The Cell. They are genuinely trying to help those who are struggling.
The lyrics are what makes Gojira so special to me as well. It’s hard to pick a favorite album from them, but lyrically TWOAF makes that album a 11/10 for me
@@darkaquatus Shooting Star is one of the most beautifully written songs ever, as well
@@MattiasWalc 100%. That album is a masterpiece, both lyrically and musically
A good friend of mine described you as the "Bob Ross of music" and I couldn't agree more. Your humble, unbiased, and musically educated take on these songs are a very heartwarming approach to these bands that are obviously outside your "norm", to say the least. Thank you! It means a lot for those of us whom are younger and wish to portray the beauty in music that of which is so easily misheard/understood.
Thank you Nicholas, that was a very nice post/comment :)
@@KeyOfGeebz Thank you :) I have done my best to show your channel to others and what it is all about. I genuinely appreciate your content. You do so much that is to be respected. I'm also glad you understand how to gracefully deflect the trolls out there. That being said, I've never been into the "Reaction" video stereotype and am super happy to see the way you take this on. I will gladly buy you many pots of coffee.
One of my top 3 Gojira songs. This band is on another level.
My heart almost stopped at your first break! I was thinking “you cannot stop the song there!!! No way!” 🤣🤣🤣 The commentary made up for it…Gojira is the kind of music that when I’m listening in the car, if someone turns it down to talk, it had better be important …my 16 year old music nerd son is the only one that understands. that.
Gojira’s Art Of Dying is an absolute masterpiece. Highly recommend this one.
Always a good time.
You're humor isn't stupid, its goofy and kind!
We love it brother!
Never clicked so fast!! Love this song in it's artist form!
Same here as soon as I saw this video I clicked in a heartbeat.. 😂
Gojira is always my recommendation to people with virgin ears for metal. Something about their sound appeals to a wider audience then your typical metal band.
6:03 What I love about the layering in the verse is that the clean deep singing comes first and foremost, and the screaming track is turned all the way down to a whisper
Loving the videos, brother. Small nitpick (Can't help it, I'm a drummer) - In the first section of the song, what you're describing as hi-hat work is actually all ghost notes on the snare. The hi-hat is consistently quarter notes.
Good ear/call!
"The gift of guilt" Live at Brixton Academy is a must !
"I'm kind of goobering on the drummer right now....." as well you should sir, Mario is by far one of THE best drummers in music today.
The Art of Dying by Gojira is damn near a perfect song.
03:04 Bars come down, lock into place, the cart leaves the station and just at the apex of the rollercoaster: "Alright, this seems like a good place to stop..."
Yo, You should check out Esoteric Surgery by Gojira
that's such a good song
Such a badass track. I love how they used the main riff from Esoteric Surgery in reverse at the end of The Art of Dying. Such an emotion provoking part that really moves you! :)
Gojira, Baroness and Mastodon all within a week or so? That's so awesome Geebz.
I'd love to see some more of all 3 of these guys, as well as some more Opeth and The Mars Volta.
Yisss Gojira!!!!
Seconding and thirding and repeating, Art of Dying!!!
This is a little out of the left field, but I'd be interested in your take on some Incubus songs. Mike Einziger is a master of his craft.
Consequence is a cool song. Nowhere Fast is great. Vitamin is amazing.
Basically anything off of Make Yourself, SCIENCE, Morning View, and Light Grenades.
Finally ❤❤❤
Gojira is one of the best metal band of this generation. There is no disappointing album, they all propose a journey on their own.
Songs like Flying Wales, Ouroboros, Love, Explosia, Gift of guilt, the Cell, Magma....so many, all good stuff!
Gojira- Toxic Garbage Island. Amazing track, I would love to see your reaction
One of my favorite basslines from Gojira. Simple with technicality sprinkled in. Very fun
Scrolled 500+ comments and somehow did not once come across a recommendation of Gojira-Wolf Down the Earth, it is by far one of their most underrated songs and is a killer tune 🤘
I started watching your reactions to see how you liked some of my favourite bands.. but now I'm here finding all these other amazing artists. Thanks to this amazing community.
imho gojira is the most important band of our generation atm, amazing band, perfect songs, love the brutality, the passion, the lyrics, their meaning of their songs, beautiful stuff ! I wish to see them again live, soon. You can try flying whales, liquid fire, l'enfant sauvage, the gift of guilt, the art of dying, all masterpieces in my ears!
met you through your video of katatonia and I love the analysis of all my favorite bands man, keep them coming!
But they are sh1t now. But all the tracks you mentioned were before they went to rubbish
the fact that you dont like them now doesn't mean they are shit. its all personal preference. still I dont understand the urge of some ppl to write comments like that. if you dont have anything productive to say, dont say it at all
Its a heavy metal soad.
@@locust7777 their style changed yes, i dont like magma as much either. I still dont remove the good because they are less to me.
Their newest song which came out yesterday is amazing
The Art of Dying! Oh, you’ll love it. Thanks for aways putting out great content. Pulled over on my way home from work just to watch this 🤟🏼
You know it's good when he instantly gets out his pen write lol
I would love to see a reaction to The Art of Dying!! This is the best reaction channel going Imo 👍
You are correct with the vocal layering. It's unreal that he can perform a lot of these songs live and not much is lost.
Yusssss! One of theee best Gojirs songs. Seen this band multiple times live and they were always perfect.
Oh yeah this was a good one for you to pick. The vocal tones on this song are f-ing insane. I can't go as low as the intro verses so it's so fun to listen to this.
what amazes me most about this song is how calm it is and intense at the same time
It's so fun watching you physically digest the music.
Gojira is an awesome experience
To me, All the Tears is one of the most badass songs they've composed. That would be a good one to break down.
This was the first Gojira song I heard about a year ago. I'm very thankful I found them..
I'd have to put this as my favorite Gojira song. It's absolutely flawless.
Here are some Gojira songs for you that I absolutely love: "Where Dragons Dwell"; "The Art of Dying"; "Flying Whales"; "Oroborus"; "Global Warming"; "Backbone"; "Silvera"; "Stranded"; "Magma"; "Pray"; "L'enfant sauvage"; "Gift of Guilt"; "World to Come"; "Ocean Planet"; "Adoration for None"; "The Cell"; "Esoteric Surgery"; "A Sight to Behold"; "All the Tears"; "Vacuity"; and "Explosia". "The Art of Dying" is arguably their toughest song to play, to the point they no longer play it live because it is so hard to play it burnt them out. Gojira is arguably one of the most Technically Proficient bands in Metal right now, and it is amazing to see how well they just play live, my favorite live band. "Born in Winter" is an amazing song to just sit back and listen to.
Such a good breakdown. This song is something special.
Thanks for helping me have more appreciation for my favorite band. Vacuity would be a great pick for more Gojira. One of their sludgier songs, and some of my favorite lyrics to boot.
Yes Vacuity is great, along with Toxic Garbage Island. I find it hard to get into many other Gojira songs, a lot like Tool, I find they don't really quite achieve what people describe they do, and there is a lot of sameness to their tracks.
Hell yeah man! I suggested this song! (Or was potentially one of many) This is such a good one from them.
Man, you point Out things I could never think about, you make me Love The songs even More! Love your videos
Leprous - Forced entry or The sky is red
I just discovered them today, what an amazing band! I absolutely love the live version of Slave. Stunning piece of art.
I would love for you to do a video on how different tones effect a person because I would definitely love to hear your perspective on that. Its an interesting phenomenon that I'm not sure a lot of people recognize is happening (or at least don't attribute it to music/sounds - or maybe it doesn't happen to everyone, I don't know.
I love Gojira
I would love if you checked out- Opeth “Ghost of Perdition” . They have a lot of great songs that would be fun to review😊
As many others have pointed out, "The art of dying" by Gojira would lead to a very interesting decomposition. On another note, I'll keep suggesting "Heavyweight" by Infected Mushroom.
The Cell will blow your mind with the drumming. It breaks mine every time I listen to the tune.
That video was so perfect for this song! So deep and powerful, flowing and moving....awesome!
The good thing about gojira is that you never know what's coming but you know is gonna be amazing
Any plans to do the song they just released a few days ago? It's called Born For One Thing and it's such a good song.
“How to Disappear Completely” by Radiohead please! Also, “Palace Posy” by Boards of Canada
I love how you make me fall in love with the songs I have already heard a million times and make me get goosebumps again like the first time I listened to them. God bless you Geebz!!
dude i love your breakdowns on music. It is SO nice, to have someone on youtube who is chill and can talk actual theory about these reaction suggestions.
This song by Gojira carries within an emotional charge that's both special and characteristic of Gojira. Grats for the content, I also suggest you check out Ulcerate - Stare into death and be still, powerful and intense as it can get
That song by ulcerate is absolutely devastating. Dead oceans is up there too.
I'm slowly exploring more of their stuff. I like digesting it one song at a time.
@@MedTechMetal i am a big fan of all of ulcerate discography. But their latest album has a whole new gravitas and maturity about it which is mind blowing. It's the kind of music you'd hear at world's end
That's exactly how I would describe that album. It sure as hell doesn't leave you feeling good lol
Gojira!!!!! One of my favorite bands.
Alright! This was so much fun! That's definitely one of my favorites from that album, however gojira have so many epic songs. 😁🤘🤘🤘
Your videos kept appearing in my feed and I love them! I also love some of the insights into composition and production/engineering theory. You’re reactions are great to watch and so genuine! Greetings from the UK. 🤙🏼
Thank you, Russel!
YES MORE GOJIRA!
Geebz, I would be elated and forever happy if you did a decomposition of "Marianas Trench" by August Burns Red! I think they would be right up your alley. Particularly Matt's drumming.
Love your videos!
Man!!! Is very cool how you feel the music, i can see your brain in your face! 🤯
never heard of gojira before, this is sick man! thank you for the vid
Awesome. Thank you. "Stranded" when you cycle back around please!
Glad you got back to them. When you get back to the Ocean please listen to Permian the Great Dying and for a new one you have to do Between the Buried and Me, the song Extremophile Elite. Keep up the good work dude.
I love this track. Just makes you feel cool.
Such an excellent breakdown on what I think is the first one on this song.. love it.
I just can't wait to see you react to much much more Gojira! 🤘
You are my new favorite reaction channel. Been watching your Tool breakdowns which is a band I adore, but Gojira is my favorite band, and I've always been really into music, so your breakdowns really help me understand more and grow my own understanding of songs I love! Keep going with Gojira, so many good songs!
Gojira is great at teasing you into thinking this time it's gonna be a full blown metal ballad but it never is.
Vocal track layering is common in metal. You'll here screams over singing, layered underneath and more.
Gojira will always make u pick up the pencil in the first 10 seconds haha
would love to see the art of dying, flying whales, oroborus, vacuity, gift of guilt, basicaly just keep doing more gojira, theyre such an amazing band!
This whole album is a masterpiece, but Born in Winter in particular always hits me in the chest.
One of my all-time favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. This song already spoke to me on so many levels, but I love how your take on it let me hear things I didn't fully appreciate before.
Nice! Love this song 😍 Great reaction‼
Thank you!! 😁
@@KeyOfGeebz You're welcome! Looking forward to more Tool and Opeth 😉😁
Excellent breakdown. Cheers
Probably my favorite Gojira song but nobody ever does videos on it. Loved it!
Mario is playing ghostnotes on his snare on the low mainbeat. That is what makes this song extra special to me!
So glad you did this song. One of their best but I always wished it was longer
An excellent breakdown, once again! Quality content sir 👍
One thing I love about this guy is how into music he gets. Like you can tell he has a passion for it just the way he closes his eyes, analyzes the music and just bobs his head. You my friend are a gift!
I highly recommend their song Magma. The lead part is all pinch harmonics on the third fret but they change where they pick and it changes the note. It blew my mind when I discovered this
Love this track, was excited to hear your reaction, didn’t disappoint :)
More Gojira!
More nerding out! More music theory please! Great breakdowns as always! Thanks!!!
Your content is PHENOMENAL
Gift of guilt live is a must from Gojira. Will give you goosebumps.
1:03 to 1:13 is the single best 10 second section of video in the history of videos! 😂 Much love, my man, and I do indeed "feel like you do". 😎
This expert writing this holy message is giving you a name, pray extended version ;) or where dragons dwell I dare u to listen
