  • On my 5th Generation RAM 1500 truck, the rear windows previously leaked water into the cab. If you are somewhat handy, you can repair it.
A window installer recommended urethane over silicone as these windows are put in with urethane sealer. I used a 3M urethane body seam sealer. One tube was enough for both windows. Don't forget to caulk down the sides. This urethane also tools really well. Remove the tape before it cures.
The truck recently went through two days of heavy rain and the window does not leak anymore.
Update - I missed two spots and did not get the sealer in far enough, which resulted in a slight leak, but not near as bad as it was originally, and had to apply more sealer. It does not leak now, and recently went through a week long rain event that dumped about 10" of water over that period.
I had previously tested the third brake light and shark fin and they were not leaking.
Also, these window leaks can leak water into the RF hub behind the rear seat and short it out. It communicates with your key fob and if it fails you may not be able to drive it, and you’ll end up buying a new RF hub, fun!

Very nice, that should take care of it. I used Permatex 81730, good so far.

Hope it solved the leak on yours! Did your frame get the cracks as well or did it just leak?

It's going to have to rain for awhile. If you remove the 3rd brake light you will see a unwelded seam at the bottom of the housing. It also needs sealed. You can also purchase a new 3rd brake light housing from Evil Manufacturing that has the gasket for $800. After that you can install a single panel from a Tradesman model. Those who have done this have solved the leak issue.

Tried the same exact thing. Without adding the primer for the urethane to bond to it doesn’t seal all that well. I still had a leak and now in the process of full MOPAR brand rear slider replacement.

That sucks it didn't work. Hope you get yours fixed. This stuff is a body seam sealant, which is supposed to seal to paint or bare metal, time will tell and fingers crossed.
I'd really love to get my hands on one of these failed back glass panels to see if I could fab up a more robust frame that won't crack. Something that would probably take some time, but would be prohibitively expensive for a shop to do, but not so bad on my bench at home.

@@ricketsandscurvey I’ve seen aftermarket windows with metal frames and they tend to warp and never seal. It’s unfortunate that plastic is likely the better material.

Maybe if I added 300 pounds of 6061 aluminum framing to the window, it might be a bit better? Or maybe plastic sheeting and duct tape!

Sucks if you do this it voids any warranty as they just released a 3rd brake light 10 year warranty. I have a 2019 and noticed I have 2 cracks in my window frame, one does leak but another leak on top passenger side window as well. Have to wait 2 weeks to get it inspected by dodge if they say they won’t cover it under warranty then im caulking the whole top and partly down the side rear window. How’s yours holding up so far?

There is an extended warranty for the rear window cracks. It is TSB: 23-098-23 and it states: "POLICY:
Vehicles included in this Technical Service Bulletin have a Warranty Extension to an 8 Year warranty extension, or
241,401 km (150,000 mi) from in service date warranty period for this repair. See Warranty Bulletins: U.S. D-23-17
for details associated with the Warranty Extension.
      "
Sealing it ourselves should not void the warranty, however I've heard that some dealerships will say anything to get out of warranty work.

Also, I had to add more material two more times on my DIY repair as I missed a couple spots, it does not leak now and it's gone through week long rain torrential rain events.
