To be fair, it wasn't actually in the script that way, the whole "ass" bit was a bit of improv from Al Pacino. It was quite different and the shock in Hank Azaria's was genuine.
Best scene was when Al speaks with his new wife and says "keeps me sharp *snaps*, on the edge *snaps*, where I gotta be" It was a good untold giveaway. Vincent the character isnt doing the cocaine to party, he does it to keep working and his wife doesnt like that she wants to party with it.
He never said he was on cocaine. He said he played his character like he was.

I remember Mann had played with the idea of Vincent from Collateral as being the same Vincent from Heat a few years down the line after being fired from the LAPD and falling from grace. An interesting idea.
Nolan was in pure nirvana during that entire panel. It's fascinating seeing him hold back his fandom interviewing one of his director idols and two legendary actors.

Heute muss einfach alles politisch korrekt sein, man darf sich nichts mehr trauen und das macht sehr viele Filme einfach nur noch "weichgekocht", unglaubwürdig und vorallem fehlt sehr oft die Authentizität.
