Now THIS IS THE ONE! Honestly, this is one of my favourite watches on the market right now. Probably my favourite Longines offering! Thank you so much for reviewing this Teddy!
Let us all know when you have bought one then Brittany. So many people whinge and whine about wanting watches in smaller sizes, and say they would buy a 41 if it were made in a 39, or they would buy a 39 if it were made in a 36, but I wager a tiny proportion of these guys actually would/do! Big mouths/small pockets 🙄
I don’t get the long lugs on a small watch. Seems to defeat the object of it being smaller. And it has male end links. Seems that if the case was a different design it could have a bigger dial diameter and still fit a small wrist better.
I have admired Longines watches for many years, yet not a single piece had me excited to buy, they didn't quite fit my wrist. The moment I tried this 37 mm on, I was convinced on the spot. Only took 4 days to come back and buy it. The fastest purchase of a valuable piece in my life
I have this piece and it is truly a wonderful watch. Small enough case with great finishing and extremely versatile. I bought the blue dial version with the bracelet and ordered the blue leather strap as it transforms the watch. Truly a great looking wear anywhere watch in a great size.
I knew from the second this watch was unveiled during Teddy's past video with the representative of Longines that I needed this watch. I was finally able to go my local AD and purchase the watch in the champagne dial and it is beyond stunning. Perfect size for my wrist, the champagne dial absolutely pops depending on what light you're in and has a very sporty yet classy feel to it. I highly recommend this watch to anyone who is on the fence about buying it.
Thinking of buying it for my 25th birthday also buying a seiko spb147 and paying 3,2k ish for a verryyy good watch and a really good watch sounds like a great deal to me instead of paying 4k for one watch for example a tudor etc
Longines is such a good value, i love the simple yet sophisticated look of their faces/cases. One of the best watch companies to dress up and go to dinner or dress down and go golfing with their watches. With a price point of under 3k the quality you get is just phenomenal for the money spent.
I have the 40mm black dial version. Only owned it about a week but I absolutely love it. Managed to pick up an ex display piece for £1080. It wears large but looks great on my just under 7” wrist! This is the holy grail at this price point. I’ve owned a Rolex Explorer, Tudor Pelagos, and a Nomos Tangente Update 41 - this one feels right at home next to these, despite their higher price points
This is why I love Longines. They don’t always hit, but when they do, they HIT. The value for money, the attention to detail, the listening to enthusiasts’ feedback…what’s not to like? Seriously considering the 37mm in champagne 🤍
I bought one yesterday at "Mallory's" in Bath (England)! It really is beautiful and the in store service??? My goodness; Bond Street and an half! Altogether , superb.
I love how Teddy's videos don't have some clickbait thumbnail. Teddy is all class and so is his channel. The spirit is "nice" and it "ticks all the boxes" but I just can't get an emotional attachment to it at all. I've tired - I seriously have - but it just doesn't push my buttons and I really cannot say why, as I love aviator-inspired watches and I love the Big Eye. Maybe it's the applied arabics - too dressy for a pilots? Maybe it's the speedmaster-style bracelet and not an IWC 7 link style. Maybe the 5 stars. Maybe all of the above. Good luck to you if you enjoy it though.
Totally my ‘aha’ moment with the champagne dial! - Might be moving to a one watch collection. So versatile in being sporty yet elegant and perfectly proportioned. Enough water resistance to not worry and a very practical amount of power reserve. Feels like someone finally really listened!
Collection by definition means a group of things. One watch collection doesn't make any sense. Don't call it a collection. Other than that this is one of the best under 39mm watch right now.
@@jaime3465 What you say is true but it’s commonly used when referring to scaling back an existing collection and just doesn’t matter. Try speaking to people online like you would in person - especially those you share an interest with. And if we’re correcting each other’s grammar it’s ‘under 39mm watches right now’ - You’re referring to one of a multiple - A collection if you will.
@@drewsykes8152 yes, I speak the same way online and in person. Let's close it as we both agree that this is an awesome watch, no competition with what you get at this price point.
Longines seems to “fly” under the radar of most buyers. Until I really got the horological bug I’d always thought of them as a maker of women’s fashion watches, probably because of a few advertisements I’d seen back in the 70s. Anyone else have that impression? Now I know. Thanks again Teddy. Cleveland rocks!
I am eager to try the Spirit Zulu Time first but this video gets me interested in regular Spirit as well! Would love to try and compare the 37mm versus 40mm. Size wise I would prefer the 40mm, but that Champagne dial which is only available in 37mm for now is just so mouth-watering.
I’m interested in the chajpagne dial too. How does it wear on your wrist size? The video here shows it as more “silvery” dial, but is it silvery or real champagne? thanks for your reply - and enjoy this awesome piece
@@tombundgaard That‘s the best thing about this dial in my opinion: it depends on the light. It covers all shades between silver and nearly gold sometimes. First I was sceptical bout the champagne and tended towards the black dial. But once I saw the champagne-dial on my wrist I was really surprised and stunned. It‘s the most versatile dial I‘ve seen so far, giving you so many different colours throughout the day…And also the case-finishing is amazing. (And so many great details like the diamond ot the tip of the second hand perfectly aligning with the diamond-markers on the dial.)
As always, a great review by Teddy. I bought this watch a few days ago to celebrate my retirement at the end of this year. I was worried that the 37mm case might be too small for my 6.75-inch wrist, but as noted by Teddy this watch wears more like a 38mm case because of the longer lug-to-lug and male end links. It actually wears great on my wrist, and as an owner of watches 39mm and greater, I am really enjoying the smaller case size and lighter weight. One point I disagree with Teddy on is the lume, which in my opinion is great. The hands and arabic numbers are well lumed and they shine bright through the night. I do agree with Teddy that Longines should have made this watch with an exhibition case back, and a screw down crown would have been nice. Overall, however, I really love this watch.
I purchased a Hamilton Field Auto before Longines announced this series - and I love the Hamilton detail, sizing and power reserve, it is a great watch - but the applied indices, 6-date, and chronometer status of the Longines call to me.
@@hotelpv it depends on what you want. The level of finishing, from case to dial, is greater on the Longines. The dial is much cleaner. Applied indices, bracelet. I have not tried one on. I like the Hamilton for what I use it for, and I like the busy dial (feels more like a “tool watch” to me) and the power reserve is great. Accuracy is good. I also like the oversized crown on the Hamilton. If I ever wanted to trade up for a more “dress” field watch I would definitely consider the Longines.
tried it on a few days ago and i loved it. i really can't understand how Breitling is thinking to sell the Chronomat 36 at twice the price with way worse technical characteristics. ok, it's more blingy, but com'on... i truly hope Longines is thinking about a 38-ish version of its awesome GMT. the 42 is too much on the large side for my late taste.
Another great review Teddy. I had the blue 40mm last year and I loved it but it did wear a little big on my 7 " wrist. I bought the 37mm in black as soon as it was released and love it. Finish is superb and mine runs at +2 over 3 days. I prefer the date at six as you said it adds to the symmetry.
I stopped by the Longines store for the 3rd time in a month to really get another good look at that Legend Diver Bronze... but while I was there I also took a good look at the green Zulu time GMT. I had been needing a GMT for awhile and I felt like it served a purpose more than the Diver so I bought it. It has been on my wrist the last few days and it is really nice. Quickly becomeing my most favorite watch to wear. It has almost replaced my BB58 in instances where I would wear it. Longines has created something awesome for a reasonable price... My Seamaster costs almost double but I feel they are really close in quality, movements aside.
I'm contemplating buying the GMT vs the spirit, I have a 6.5 inch wrist. I don't necessarily "need" a GMT but I really live the color green/black/gold color combination. What made you choose the GMT?
I moved to hawaii and wanted a way to track the easter time zone for tv shows, football games, and when to call back to the mainland for customer care. Also, since this comment I have since sold the longines GMT and replaced it with the grand seiko sgbm221... as the longines was just too big to wear daily. NOw they have a 39mm version so that could be great as well. @@ahmedalemam8641
Yeah, Teddy...agree with your presentation. I noticed the Spirit recently and stopped by a dealer in Southern California just to check it out. It brings a smile to one's face..good proportions, "three dimensional dial" as you describe it so well, seems a good value, and can be worn in many situations...thanks for your report.
First i was a fan of the 40mm titanium version because of the absence of a date. It was still a bit large for my wrist but doable. Now the 37 looks muck more promising. Better size and a balanced dial... 👍👍
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 I have not heard anybody specifically talking about it, but the Longines website at least lists the same movement in both versions. I would guess it does have a ghost date position, but don't quote me on that.
@@RedwoodAggie Appreciate the reply 👌 that was my exact issue regarding the movement when I seen it on the site. It be a shame if it has a ghost date position. I just can't do ghost dates but it's all good because I have my eye on the Longines Ultra chron diver
@@RedwoodAggie Yes it's a nice 👌 looking watch ⌚ the only two things that would make it near perfect is a 41mm case size with a lumed seconds hand. So I might hold off to see where the line goes but I do really like the way it is right now. So if the changes never happened it's all good 👍
I asked longines why no screw down crown on the 37mm. They replied and told me it was just aesthetic as the 37mm would have needed to be much thicker for a screw in crown. Good to know
Saw the 39 or 40mm spirit in the Longines boutique the other day and it is stunning. I would have bought it had I not just picked up my Tudor Ranger minutes before.
I feel like if they put the 40mm on a diet, removing the excess 1mm or so around the case edges and tapering/curving the outside of the lugs in to back off that 70’s vibe, it wouldn’t look so big. This 37mm is probably too small for my 7.5” wrist (65mm diameter). But glad to see they’re releasing smaller options.
I have added this watch to my need to buy list. I like the aviation aspect as a retired Air Force aviator I tend to favor those watches. It will go great with my Bremont. Thanks for the clear detailed descriptions.
Great watch! I have 6.5 inch wrist and for a long time I wore only my Fortis official cosmonaut's chronograph at 38mm. Recently I started looking for a smaller daily wearer and it is extremely hard for me to find an appropriate model... Now this Longines Spirit 37mm champagne dial is everything I would like and then some - 37mm, curved glass, chronometer and 72 hours, beautiful dial and case. Excellent job Longines and Teddy thanks for the review!
Great video. Love the review . Very tempting to go and get one. Like the placement of date and the blue dial plus strap. Longines should give you special privilege Teddy. You doing them great favor promoting them all over the world not only USA.
What I'd really like to see is Longines take this exact watch and make it a day-date with a screw-down crown. A steel and gold variant would be gravy. That would look so cool if they put the day at 12 and kept the date at 6.
I own a Longines Avigation Bigeye. I absolutely love it. Only because it’s design is absolutely spot on. Perfect. I find other Longines to be a far cry from the Bigeye. Almost awkward looking. Can’t explain it. I think Longines could do with employing me to sort out their design language.
is there a no date version? this version of spirit pilot definitely works great as a dress watch but the date just breaks a beautiful dial. the larger versions are great at being every day or tool watch so date is appreciated. not on a 37, especially when they dont proportionally shrink down the size of the date numeral and window.
I love the DJ vibe (but with no cyclop) of the champagne dial! I'd buy it in a second if it came in yellow or slightly more funky colors! This said, I am waiting for my Zulu GMT to arrive.. can't wait to have it on my wrist!
"Sat beneath the safety of the sapphire crystal..." well written review as always, great production quality, and another awesome watch. Good job Teddy!
I really like this watch. Always have but the 40mm was just too large, esp the lug to lug. This is the perfect size. Also, nobody likes odd number lug widths but I feel 19mm is the optimal size.
For an aqua terra half tge price I would recommend checking Monta Noble. This spirit is a different watch and honestly I think I prefer it design wise 🙂
Great addition of the 37mm to the Spirit line. Would love a no date version for the Spirit line other than the Anthracite 40mm. Also would love to see a COSC certified no date version of the Hydroconquest 👍🏼
I've got the black dial version. I 100% agree with everything you've said. The only thing I don't 100% love about it is the black versions loom in comparison to the blue and silver seems to be ever so slightly faux which is annoying. Im unsure if that's down to the black dial making it appear darker or whether it's actually been darkened to give more of a vintage look. A side by side comparison would be great if you could provide one
Thanks Teddy for your excellent review. I have finally taken delivery after waiting 3 months for the champagne dial version, which is difficult to obtain in the UK. My only gripe is the bracelet needs a better micro- adjustment system such as Rolex's Glidelock.
Size is great but it has those infamously long Longines lugs that make the proportions odd and wear larger than it should. Plus, I think those 5 stars at 6 o’clock really cheapen the look. I expect to see that from department store micro brands not historical Swiss luxury houses. Edit: Great video as usual Teddy.
I personally love the stars. Longines' long lugs are not infamous, just a conscious design choice. Sure, for smaller wrists it makes it more difficult but then they also provide different sizes 🙂
Great video teddy. CJ here, I love the longines I got from your site and has made me a super fan of the brand. It's become my regular weekend watch, Hamilton during the week. This is a beauty. Love the slender silhouette and clean look.
A beautiful watch. I purchased the 40mm with a blue dial earlier this year and still smile every time I look at it. The watch does wear a bit longer than I am used on my 6.75” wrist, but it looks great and I can wear it all day without any comfort issues. Would like to try the 37mm to feel how it wears. Great vid as always Teddy! Keep up the good work. I have learned a lot from watching your vids!
What I dislike is how busy the dial is. Their logo always comes to me as long and now with the five stars at the bottom it feels tad too much. Besides that, I really love the sheer quality and attention to detail in stuff like the diamonds at the hour markers.
Love the Spirit but I typically prefer 38.5-40mm so unfortunately the 37mm is too small, and the 40's lug to lug is too long. So close... I will say the 6:00 date location looks much better, especially how they cut it.
With those overall dimensions, this will probably feel like a 39mm watch. I would try it on first. I have a 37mm omega that really wears like my other 39mm watches
The lack of a screw down crown as opposed to in the 40 mm version for me is a dealbreaker. With a screw down crown, this would be a perfect alternative in the traditional Rolex explorer category.
I love this watch along side the Zulu spirit but Longines please cut to the chase and provide this size with all the colour options provided in the 40+ mm options. titanium, guilt numerals and hands. You will sell Millions! Thanks for the review Teddy
Lovely watch! However I will still keep my "cheaper" Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium which is incredibly accurate (runs at about +1 second per day).
I have both the Tissot Powermatic 80 and the 40mm Spirit. Both fit larger and more sporty on my 6.5” wrist, but the Tissot is more dress and the Spirit more pilot. Sprit is all round exceptional. The finish, fully articulated bracelet links, dial, crown action etc rival some of my watches twice the price. I do slightly wish I’d waited and was able to get the 37mm, but I tell myself it’s a pilot watch, not dress, so a bit bigger works.
Now THIS IS THE ONE! Honestly, this is one of my favourite watches on the market right now. Probably my favourite Longines offering! Thank you so much for reviewing this Teddy!

This 37mm is probably too small for my 7.5” wrist (65mm diameter). But glad to see they’re releasing smaller options.
Would love to see a comparison between this and Tudor BB 36.
Great review - I have the champagne 37 on bracelet as my daily - wears like 38 and slips nicely under the cuff for work.
I have added this watch to my need to buy list. I like the aviation aspect as a retired Air Force aviator I tend to favor those watches. It will go great with my Bremont. Thanks for the clear detailed descriptions.
So pumped about this release! The entry level luxury space is absolutely killing it!
The silver dial is exceptional and the size is spot on.
I bought the blue dial after watching your video. Love it!
Titanium, 37mm, no date, in black. Yes please!
Been waiting for this video for a while ever since the release of the 37mm. Can’t wait to watch!
Great video. Love the review . Very tempting to go and get one. Like the placement of date and the blue dial plus strap. Longines should give you special privilege Teddy. You doing them great favor promoting them all over the world not only USA.

Just bought this, for my first time piece ever! I am in love. Thank you for your assistance teddy!
The silver dial is exceptional
This is what I have been looking for, going to start saving!!
I love the DJ vibe (but with no cyclop) of the champagne dial! I'd buy it in a second if it came in yellow or slightly more funky colors! This said, I am waiting for my Zulu GMT to arrive.. can't wait to have it on my wrist!
This watch in the blue dial version is going to be mine. That blue! Oh my goodness!
Probably the best do-it-all auto on the market.
Another stunner of a watch! Great video, thanks!
A beautiful (blue dial) watch and the perfect size too. Refreshing to see.
Yes. Another awesome blue dial is the new Montblanc 1858 Automatic. The blue dial and leather strap are incredible!
"Sat beneath the safety of the sapphire crystal..." well written review as always, great production quality, and another awesome watch. Good job Teddy!
Beautiful, classy and great value. There's so much to like here.
This is going to be the PRX aaah haa moment for Longines. They going to kill it with this watch.
I really like this watch. Always have but the 40mm was just too large, esp the lug to lug. This is the perfect size. Also, nobody likes odd number lug widths but I feel 19mm is the optimal size.
This is a beautiful watch. It’s wonderful Longines makes different sizes. I hope others will do the same.
It’s an Aqua Terra for half the price. Definitely going to be keeping an eye on this
For an aqua terra half tge price I would recommend checking Monta Noble. This spirit is a different watch and honestly I think I prefer it design wise 🙂
Go for early 2000s Aqua terra which you'll find for the price of Longines... but for me, the Longines will be the one I think
I think this would be a perfect upgrade to my 38mm Silver dial Hamilton Khaki field auto (great watch as well)
Been wanting to get one for a while now, would be my first luxury watch. Looks so great!
Great content Teddy!!
Great addition of the 37mm to the Spirit line. Would love a no date version for the Spirit line other than the Anthracite 40mm. Also would love to see a COSC certified no date version of the Hydroconquest 👍🏼
Yeah I don’t get why they don’t offer a no date option for most watches
I’m the same I’m waiting for this in blue as a no date version. Bucherer BLUE have one but I don’t want it DLC coated.
Love my longines heritage bracelet black dial . Always on your videos teddy .
I am a fan, keep up the good work.
What do you think about cartier ronde solo 36mm?? Nice o meh?

Ugh exactly this. It’s so well done except for those silly stars.
I personally love the stars.
Longines' long lugs are not infamous, just a conscious design choice. Sure, for smaller wrists it makes it more difficult but then they also provide different sizes 🙂
Stars look fine in real life. You hardly notice them. Of course on a 40 inch screen, they look ridiculous. Try the watch on
been waiting for this size YEEEEES!!!!
Gorgeous...great creation Longines! The size is much better for those of us with smaller to medium wrists.

Great video teddy. CJ here, I love the longines I got from your site and has made me a super fan of the brand. It's become my regular weekend watch, Hamilton during the week. This is a beauty. Love the slender silhouette and clean look.
Really glad seeing the made it this size. But the lugs need abit more “chopping” the stretch still more than they should in regard to the case
..Saving.... this is great.. not sure if I'll go for black or champagne. I'm kind of undecided for now
Can’t wait to try this one one.
I’m having a really hard time deciding between the regular spirit or the Zulu time. Both are nice in their own way
La recensione che aspettavo. Complimenti ottimo video come sempre.
The Tissots are nice.
Teddy is the best!
A very nice watch! Thanks Teddy.
What a value, this is a must.
can you explain your vision on symetry? is a dial with 6 o'clock date more symmetrical than a dial with a 3 o'clock date ?
Loving this watch!!!
The lack of a screw down crown as opposed to in the 40 mm version for me is a dealbreaker. With a screw down crown, this would be a perfect alternative in the traditional Rolex explorer category.
‘Rolex Explorer Catagory’ 😂
You guys are so funny.
Keep dreaming your deluded thoughts.
I love this watch along side the Zulu spirit but Longines please cut to the chase and provide this size with all the colour options provided in the 40+ mm options. titanium, guilt numerals and hands. You will sell Millions! Thanks for the review Teddy
They are doing some great stuff….love the Zulu in blue!
I wish if the date window on the champagne dial was in matching color. That white window ruins it a bit.
Quite honestly, I think I prefer the looks of the Pagani Design V2 homage more. What with those stars on the dial?
Good review, thank you.
