I have the black one, almost looks blue sometimes with the AR coating, the polished minute track bevel really stands out, green lume too. Didn't know the champagne had blue, that makes me feel a bit better not picking it. That sunburst is gorgeous though.
This is frankly a quite a bit better deal than the Black Bay 36, though I suspect the steel models will get the same update as the S&G did last year, which will make it hugely competitive to the Spirit. I love the many micro adjusts (quick adjust would be great, but not everybody is Monta), the bracelet is more interestingly finished. The little details like the diamond on the second hand going over the diamonds on the dial are great. 72 hours of power reserve (while not using 3Hz like so many other Swatch group watches) AND COSC is just the chef's kiss. The 37mm size and champagne color make this a great unisex watch. I would like to see more champagne dial every day watches out there. I have tried the black 37 on bracelet on and while it's a touch smaller than I personally prefer, I could pull it off. The 40mm works well for me, but I don't like the date. That's okay though, because I really like the titanium model, which does not have a date. I have tried that one on strap, but have yet to find the bracelet variant in an AD yet. Longines is really doing some great stuff lately, and I think they deserve more respect. I hope they keep expanding this line. I think I will end up with a Spirit at some point, but I'm just not sure when.
I couldn't pull the trigger on the bb36. I tried many many times. I don't think its worth its price by a mile. The bracelet, I could never get a good fit. Removed one link, went out 1 micro or 2. nope. Added a link and went in a micro, no. Plus now they use the SW200 and they don't modify it like they used to with their shock absorbers and regulator. No AR coating is also a pet peeve on it. I think this year they will update the bb36 with inhouse, AR, and a T-link bracelet. Then I'm a buyer!
@@EscapementWatch Yeah, I completely get that. I personally found the BB36 too small for me (same with the new Explorer 36), but also found the BB41 to be bigger than I want! No Goldilocks moment. The lug-to-lug on the 41 was great, but the watch looked too wide, if that makes sense. They came out with a 39 AND 41 in the S&G and gave them more of an Oyster style case (lost 50m WR, but 100 is plenty). That and the new bracelet could get me to snap one up. My AD said the 39mm Tudors is the size where they sell the most models, which wasn't terribly surprising.
Yea the 39mm is a great option, makes sense it is popular. Yes the bezel on the bb is more flat and broad probably make it look wider. I found the explorer new gen to be a tad small. But 36mm OP and DJ's fit fine. I dunno why that is maybe the lug width playing visual tricks on my mind. 19vs 20mm. the steel bracelet of the 40mm "standard" is inferior, no quick release and butterfly clasp. This bracelet here is as good as the one of the 40mm "prestige edition", which also includes a leather strap and premium packaging, and is more expensive than this. So I'd say it is a good tradeoff.

In the video, you said, the bracelet is fully milled, but in other reviews i heard, that the overclasp (or whatever they call the thing with the "Longines" branding on it) is stamped. what is the truth? i ruled out the Spirit because of the stamped overclasp, but if it is in fact fully milled, then i think i found myself a winner!
Almost perfect for me. Looked at this with a blue dial only last week. I just couldn't understand why you would spend the time and effort to make a quick release strap this well done and went without an "on the fly" micro adjustment? They missed a trick there and was a deal breaker for me unfortunately. Went for the Nomos Sport 37mm instead.
"I don't like that the Longines Spirit 37mm does not have a quick adjustment bracelet, so instead I went with the Nomos Sport 37mm which also doesn't have an on-the-fly adjustment." bruh 💀
5 year service intervals? Yikes! I have to confess, I don't send my watches into my watchmaker until they start to run out of spec. In some of my lower end watches I've swapped out the movement all together. Its just cheaper than servicing. I sent out my 16610 submariner for service a couple years back and as soon as I seen the bill I had to make an appointment with a cardiologist. Lmao
lol. Yeah the recommended service is overly pessimistic. I think you'll be fine 7-10 year intervals. My black bay 36 is 5 years old and amplitude dropped low 200's but still perfect time keeping.
I still much prefer the design of the BB36 and Explorer. Once the steel version of the BB36 gets the updated movement and clasp, I would pick that over this.
@@EscapementWatch I’m assuming that will be announced this year cause they updated some of their watches last year. For me, design and dimensions come first. Movement is further down the list. If it’s accurate enough where I don’t notice it I don’t really care that much especially if I can’t see it. Power reserve is a bit low on those eta/ sellita movements though.
I like the Longines but they wear bigger than bezel size. Explorer proportions allows smaller wrists, and more wearable for women. Additionally, the Spirits is too busy that also doesn’t attract women wearer.
It is not a big deal. I've had a couple vintage watches with screw down crowns and half the threads are worn out. So it screws down in 1 turn or half a turn. I wonder if it will leak??? ha

It is part of their history. It was on their watches back in the day and it was only put on their highest quality/accuracy movement watches. "The Admiral" in the 50's had it. I love it!
Nice watch, worst colour of the lot. Champagne and silver dials are always the hardest to read. I wouldn't want them on a sports watch. I would like to see the titanium spirit in the 37mm format. That would be a winner for me.
People often speak of the legacy of Longines, but that company no longer exists. The legacy ended when Longines became just another Swatch label. Yes, they are unique from other Swatch products in some ways -- as all Swatch brands are -- but the company that made the watches used by aviation pioneers is gone. Longines continues in name only. It's a handsome and desirable watch for sure, but please stop tying modern Longines to the original Longines that did not survive as an independent watchmaker.

In the video, you said, the bracelet is fully milled, but in other reviews i heard, that the overclasp (or whatever they call the thing with the "Longines" branding on it) is stamped. what is the truth? i ruled out the Spirit because of the stamped overclasp, but if it is in fact fully milled, then i think i found myself a winner!
it is milled
@@EscapementWatch thank you! In this case, I can't come up with any more excuse not to buy this watch.
hahah email me for a discount code!
Why Automatic on the dial, dammit man to much on the dial otherwise solid watch
Hello EW, did you buy for yourself this longines spirit 37 ? Please answer. Have a good day.
Hello! No I didn't. The only reason is I am worried about the double AR coding on top. Or I was at the time that's why I didn't pull the trigger
@@EscapementWatchthank you for your reply. I am thinking to buy it.
Go for it! and if you need a discount code email the channel
Lug to lug is actually much larger close to 49
Not on this new 37mm version
no secret measure for this spirit 37mm ? :(
Sorry back then I wasn't doing them for every video. Next time they do a special color all include it
I still much prefer the design of the BB36 and Explorer. Once the steel version of the BB36 gets the updated movement and clasp, I would pick that over this.
yeah I understand. Hope bb36 gets AR coating as well. Needs half links, 4micro adjusts not 3, T clasp, AR coating, In house upgrades ASAP!
I like watches that aren't clown sized too
Why no picture of Amelia Earhart's Watch?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏼
I think I'll still stick with the Maen Triple Calendar instead for 1/3rd the price and similar color and wrist presence, but this watch is stunning!
Nice second hand...
Indeed!
I like the Longines but they wear bigger than bezel size.
Explorer proportions allows smaller wrists, and more wearable for women.
Additionally, the Spirits is too busy that also doesn’t attract women wearer.
I have both Explorer and Spirit and I’ll take Spirit 11 times out of 10
need this in 42mm!
Great watch it’s got some competition from oris at this price point
I would have melted if they red tipped that second hand.
Yet another watch that goes into the "if only they did a no date version" category for me!!!!
Why not a 39
There's already a 40mm
they make a 40 and 42mm versions.
Amazing watch. A screw down crown would have made it perfect.
It is not a big deal. I've had a couple vintage watches with screw down crowns and half the threads are worn out. So it screws down in 1 turn or half a turn. I wonder if it will leak??? ha
Why not a screw down crown
lug to lug seems long!
Shame that it has a male end link
lucky it looks awesome on straps! I'd get this on strap version only. But in Canada price is same for strap or bracelet. I think usa gets to save money on strap versions! lucky!
Honestly most people don’t even keep their watches past a year anymore
Honestly, why do some people make unfounded claims like this? Have you done research on this? Have you talked to most people?
Swatch won't let them compete with Omega. It's quite a shame.
Swatch doesn't determine who competes with who...the consumer does.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Swatch has very clear markets that they have certain brands cater to. Longines caters to a lower market than Omega.
@@nathanmagnuson2589 What "clear" markets are you talking about. People will buy what they want.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Longines is positioned below Omega in the market by Swatch. Also, Longines is one of the highest selling watch manufacturers in the world, I think behind 3-4 others. In fact, I would guess that Longines is Swatches second most profitable manufacturer behind Omega.
Too many details. What’s up with the five stars? It looks nice but… meh.
It is part of their history. It was on their watches back in the day and it was only put on their highest quality/accuracy movement watches. "The Admiral" in the 50's had it. I love it!
@@EscapementWatch Okay I didn’t know that. Thanks for telling me :)
The stars are tack though
Finally someone who pronounces Longines as it should be pronounced.
Case size is subjective, I have a bigger wrist so this would look ridiculous on my wrist. Do own Longines and they are beautiful.
Not cool it loses the screw down crown . Something Longines rarely does in the first place . Love that about the other spirit sizes .
To me 37 is too small. I'd have a spirit but when you get to the 42s they ruin the 3 oclock position....
Nice watch, worst colour of the lot. Champagne and silver dials are always the hardest to read. I wouldn't want them on a sports watch.
I would like to see the titanium spirit in the 37mm format. That would be a winner for me.
The bracelet seems as if it's from a different watch
Too bad their "magic trick" didn't include a screw-down crown...
No italian subtitles? ……….
37mm is way too small for the average man’s wrist.
You should try it, it has longer lug to lug than other watches.. I went and tried them all, 40, 42 and 37.. I bought the 37 without blinking. It's something else, trust me. Another great option is the 40 mm in titanium, no date. It has a special pitch black dial with smokey gold numerals...
Perfect for my 6.25" wrist, plus there is a 40mm and 42mm version as well.
@@Polter6eist the 37mm lug to lug is 43mm. I’m sorry if you like it or your wrist is extremely small I understand. To me thats absolutely too small for most men’s wrists.
That's a load of crap.
Alpinist is better
The stars ruined it for me,
36mm? No thanks. I like the watch, but 36mm is too small for me.
Its 37.
too simple for longine, no charisma
Love this one. Was just a little dumbfounded about no screwdown crown
