I actually prefer push-pull crowns to screw-down crowns, so pleased Longines changed that for the 37mm version. This isn't a dive watch and both have a water resistance of 100m anyway, so it makes no difference from that perspective. Push-pull crowns are far quicker and easier to use and eliminate the risk of problems with the screw threads.
It’s a great watch. As I said on IG, I have the 37mm in blue as my wrist is 6,7”. The caliber is fantastic. Great video as always, Bob!
Thanks a lot Adrian!
Same water resistance with different crowns, is interesting! Both beautiful watches! Great video
Thanks Joe!
Excellent review, Bob! These are absolutely gorgeous. I love the dial balance on the 37mm with that 6 o’clock date window. I’m surprised the crown on it isn’t screw down, no idea why Longines went that route.
That was a surprise to me too. Hadn't heard or seen that until getting it in hand.
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepiecesexactly! I heard it here first.
I spoke to them about this it was because the case would have needed to be thicker. But to be honest it’s a pilot watch it’s not going near water.
Very elegant watches.Nice video.
Thanks Boris.
Quick question, Bob.
As someone who does not have money to just throw around at watches, one of the biggest things I look at is the water resistance. I usually look for a watch with at least 100m, that way I never have to worry about my watch if I am at a beach or in a pool.
My question is, does it really make a difference in those settings? Or should I just get any watch because I am not diving/snorkeling?
Tried both of them at AD's and was super impressed, the finishing is amazing. Both would be awesome for everyday wear - to the office as well as at the hike
Totally agree. I'd be happy with either. Thanks!
37mm titanium when longines?
Thanks for the review Bob, I can do something with this 👍👍👍
Thanks Stefaan for the video idea 👍👍
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepiecesthanks for the information about the 37mm version, now i'm sure it would be the best choice 👍
Zulu is my pick also. I’ve got a 7.5 so interesting info about the short bracelet
Yeah I love the Zulu. The 37 would probably still fit you but I'd definitely try one on first. Thanks!
Thank you for great video! I'm considering to purchase 37mm or 40mm spirit black dial, and 37mm is more appealing to me. (I have 6 3/4 inches). And this is really helpful to look into each models. :D
I think the 37mm would be perfect on your wrist size. Thanks for watching :)
I have the baby brother of this watch.. the Conquest in 39mm. Longines really impresses me
They definitely make some great watches.
Does it really make any difference without screw down crown? Are you gonna divewith this piece? I don´t think so
The 37 is perfect
Thanks for the video! Does the bracelet on the 37 mm have screw links or push pin?
Hi there. It does have screw links.
37mm 👍👌
My favourite Swiss brand, a watch style for everybody at a price that is alot more affordable to other Swiss brands, this is probably the best contender as an entry Swiss GADA.
I'd have to agree. I can't think of a better option for this price range. Thanks!
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces no probs, really enjoying your content :)
My favorite watch brand and Spirit 40, silver dial is my GADA watch.
Awesome video !
@@berare777 Thank you!
Interesting about the lume and lack of screw down crown on the 37. I wonder what went into that decision.
Not sure but I was kind of surprised the 37 didn't have a screw down crown.
What?!? No screw down crown on the 37mm! Thats crazy...I'm so glad I went for the 40mm. That's quite surprising...wonder why
I was just as surprised. Hadn't heard a word on it until I got it in hand.
I wonder if you did this vid after the crazy live, too many mistakes on narration... L2L of 40, date of 40 at "9"(?) 😋
Anyways, as for the watches, not much to say, in a way a GADA, beautiful, but both with strange lug openings, and rather long lugs. I'd get the champagne dial 37, no second thought. Plus i said it in the past, push-pull crown is fine (and more easy to save it in a bad moment) and the date window is way better at "6". A (fancy😋) GADA indeed.
Thanks for the review Bob, be well mate, cheers.
PS Many love the ZULU, but i see many selling them too, guess the size is something they can't get over, it's rather big! Those lugs...
Lol. Yeah the live was a little rough. We'll do better next time though. Filmed this last week and was just getting over a cold so that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it 😅👍
20mm lug v 21 mm lung for straps is barely noticeable if at all and a 20mm leather or nato fits perfectly in the 21mm if can't find a 21mm
True. You can get away with a 22mm nato too. Thanks :)
Why can't you give us best of both words Longines, damnit! I don't like calendar but if I'm forced to have it I'd rather have it on 6 o'clock. Otoh 37mm feels too small on me not to mention the odd lug width.
BTW this is your first review I watched. If it's not too much to ask, can you show off yhe watches in different straps? I know you should always buy watches with bracelet option but field watches look so weird in bracelet. Would've liked to see how it looks in canvas or sailcloth straps.
🛒 40mm for me.
Think we need a 38.5mm!!!
It's such a shame they do not (yet) have no date versions in steel. I would really like that. I am not a big fan of the titanium version.
Wonder if they'll come out with one eventually.
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces I hope that the titanium version is a foreshadowing 😂
First Bob!
👊😁
40mm👍🏻
Sadly I feel like 39/48 would be perfect for this watch, lol. Oh well. The 37 is better because of the lugs and the date window. Still 10 bar even without screw-down.
I agree. Somewhere between these 2 size wise would be great. Thanks!
What a beautiful watch! I prefer more the 40. Its kind'a more like for men. Very nice review sir . 👍
Thanks Jubert!
missed one difference - the hands. The hands on 37mm are mirror polished, on 40mm they are not.
Good eye. Thanks!
i think the 37mm is the best choice for wrists under 7 to 7.25 inches. the complaints about L2L being too long are likely from sub 7" wrists trying to fit the 40mm.
Definitely. I'm 7.25 so both work for me but much smaller and I'd definitely opt for the 37mm. Thanks.
I just bought 40mm, I recommend everyone to buy 37mm, 40mm is a top heavy watch, lug to lug is huge, it looks like 42mm watch...I have 7.25 wrist btw, beautiful watch though
The 37 is definitely a sweet spot size. Thanks.
Hey what are you opinion on this 40mm it's huge but is too huge (or almost ?) or it's still very fine ? Thanks for your feedback i'm looking to get one for myself too :D
@raenarra5395 On my 7.25 inch wrist is wasn't bad. Borderline but it worked. Depends on your wrist size and preferences though.
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces My wrist size is around 17cm so 6.7inch, i would imagine the 37mm would look perfect. Also when you measure your wrist do you leave some space or you stick the measure instrument to the wrist ? Thanks for your answer :)
@raenarra5395 as above mentioned it's borderline for us at 7" wrist.....I would definitely recommend for you to get 37mm
How much money
Give me all of it, please.
I wonder how these compare to the Hamilton khaki field 38mm 👍🏻😊
That would be a fun comparison video to do. Might have to try to get then on for one. Thanks!
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces brilliant, the longines is 4 times the price of the Hamilton so will be interesting 👍🏻 😀
@jasonwilson7674 I will say you do see quite a difference in finish and I really like the Spirit bracelet too but if it's worth 4 times the cost is a great question for sure.
@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces yes, I'll definitely have to try the spirit on 👍🏻👍🏻
Those male end links are driving me insane, why longines, why? Please fit it with female end links and while you’re at it stick a screw down crown on the 37mm so i can sell my 35 other watches and buy the the spirit as my one and only perfect watch and finally bring my odyssey to an end.
