Agree. Owned the 40 and loved it on a strap, but was just a little too big for my 6.75” wrist. I’d consider a 38mm, especially if they can keep the thickness proportional.
Possibly a 36... but I already have a CW63 36mm, so I got the light blue 34mm ( classic size) Hamilton Jazzmaster, although larger ( doesn't mean better) sizes are also available.
Just bought the Omega Aqua Terra Black Lacquer (38mm) last week from the Omega boutique. It's stunning and completely outclassed the other watches that I was considering, as this was my first luxury watch purchase. If you have a chance to see it in person and try it on, be prepared to buy it lol. The bracelet is stunning. The dial is superb. Timeless piece and extremely versatile, which is why I purchased it, so I was hyped to see it on your video!
@@maitrehg I had the AT in 38mm and actually sold it to get a 41mm. Aside from the movement & my wrist size, I found the 38mm version harder to read. Maybe my eyes are getting old...
Great video. I agree the fewer the complications the better. Orient destroyed their beautiful new watch by sticking the date near 4 pm. Who designs the dials? Your Grand Seiko videos showed them getting made. But who comes with appearance, materials, and execution. Not just a star designer but folks who must produce each season? How many focus groups
literally wearing the Tissot Gentlemen right now with the dark blue dial and leather strap. Even before I clicked, I knew this watch would make the list. It's that versatile. It's probably one of my favorite watches.
I recently got this... LOVE how the silver dial has orange looking indices by day, bright blue lume at night... and on the Omega NATO blue with orange stripe strap, it is one of my favorite casual watches, and always gets the "what watch is that?" question, which is, for all of us as collectors, just the extra special...
The Longines 41mm Conquest is the absolute winner in black for me. You can dress it with anything to anything anytime. It's super slim and anyone can service it.
Gotta agree on Citizen. I have a billion year old Blue Angel watch that I bought while in college, and it has always felt like one and done for Citizen... but in the past few months I've suddenly gone a bit crazy for Citizen, with two Tsuyosa's, one Tsuyosa small seconds (in blue, but the black/grey works for this video), and a Series 8. Crazy how Citizen is coming in strong all of a sudden under the Citizen brand, and I'm loving it. And best of all - you can create mix/match looks with three Tsuyosa's and not break $1k (buy 'em on sale). My personal favorite is what I call the Citizen "Mondrian" because of the interesting mix of colors/strips - and it always lands as a "what is that?" watch - which we all love as a door opener to talk story about watches. 😀
You hit it...I love my Exp I in 39mm...I have more expensive watches but this is the perfect watch...precise, full of history and so much built-in understatement
Longines Conquest is my favorite, I have the classic with 300 M water resistance. Goes anywhere with anything, the ETA movement is +1-2 s/day for less than $1K
I love mine so much. Bought it in Jan from someone who had just picked up his explorer, probably been 5 days in the last eight months when I haven't worn it. I'm wearing it right now. It's the perfect watch and they really ruined it with the update. Literally - THE PERFECT watch.
It's not ruined, I wear mine fulltime on a perlon strap. Champagne dial. Fantastic watch. Nice and slim yet sporty and sturdy. Goes with any outfit idd and if I would feel the need for a dressier occasion I put it back on the stock jubilee which is also an excellent bracelet in it self due to the comfort and the t-fit clasp.
Bring on the German options - Nomos, Sinn - spectacular watches, often overlooked in the US market. I had to buy my Nomos in London, couldn't find it anywhere in the US, and the Tangente is a beautiful watch! Got the steel bracelet for it directly from Nomos and it is now a favorite day to day self wind.
OMG, that IWC is just... chef's kiss! Same with the Spring Blossom Grand Seiko that got mentioned as to why it wasn't picked. Either of those are standouts in the video. Having said that, a nice understated black dial dive watch is my goes-in-every-situation watch. Gym? Yes. Sorta dressed up? (I do NOT wear suits and I won't unless it's a funeral) Yes. Shorts and flip flops? Yes. Out on a date? Yes. Someone else in the comments mentioned the CW C63 Sealander and that's a great choice too.
Nice video. You mentioned that you were considering a Grand Seiko GTM for the video and I think you were talking about the Grand Seiko SBGN 011. I believe it makes the cut. It is a 40mm, champagne dial and the GTM complication is very subtle and makes it the perfect GADA watch for business travelers. And goes perfectly with the dark brown or navy leather strap from GS.
The AT Black Lacquer is one of the best GADA watches, because of the 8900 w/jump hour, the additional polish ‘pop’, giving it a better dress option, the METAS certs, and 150m WR. It needs to be worn back to back against the Explorer and OP to truly appreciate the differences.
Agree! Did exactly that and realized they are such different watches you can have both and not have a "but I just bought the same watch" reaction. Each are incredible on their own, and so different. I haven't bought the AT black lacquer yet, but it is in my go do category... maybe this weekend.
Hey teddy, great video. Just one seiko suggestion which is a perfect all occasion watch i.e., SPB 249J1 (Deep Lake Blue). Its a 38.5mm watch with 200m WR rating, looks great on the bracelet, finding 19mm straps is just negative point, however, once you find it, it looks just awesome.
Picked up a MAMACOO's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
I have a Grand Seiko SBGA 285 although discontinued and now upgraded to a 40mm SBGA 467, I like mine with a 39mm case. It has a 9R65 spring drive, a black dial and yes it has a power reserve indicator but quite subtle and not in your face. Great everyday watch.
The SARB got a shout out! Best budget Seiko ever. I wouldn’t pay more than $500 for it though, and there’s tons of SARX models I’d get instead of it at its current market price.
Spot on with the picks! This is just what I've been considering...watches that are ideal for a conservative, business casual office environment, but could also easily work for either casual/weekend or when fully suited & booted.
I call that wedding attire. 😁. But keep it real, simple tux jacket, no tails. Having done a wedding or few here in Hawaii, I'd go with the Hamilton Murph or that perfect Grand Seiko to kick in the blue. And if you're doing black and yellow aloha shirt, your best slippers (gotta be leather, black, new), and your best shorts, then this is easy... your only option is the black lacquer AT or the Murph, but on a black alligator strap.
I went back and forth with this forever about 7 years ago and went with the Explorer. I paid a pretty penny for it back then but happy with it to this day. I haven't purchased a watch since except for a Casio G-Shock to use for ocean sports.
People will probably not agree with me on this, but the stainless steel Reverso. Changing the strap lets me wear it, whether I’m dressed-up or dressed-down.
@@wattsjr9 Q3858522; the Reverso Classic with the small seconds (since I love an engraved back). Q713842J was a close-second, but the simplicity of the Classic and a talk with JLC’s rep sold me on the former.
I wish you would show love or make an entire video on 44mm luxury watches.. i know you mentioned some xl watches in the past but there's not enough content for 44mm watches that are a go to for tall larger people with around a 7.5 inch wrist.
Hi Teddy! What about the Cartier Santos? Especially my WSSA0037 with the anthracite dial and the DLC bezel. I picked it up as a GADA watch. I could wear it with a black suit as well as with a Polo and Jeans. The white dial version might be a bit more dressier for those who don't like the grey and black. Best wishes, Claus
Hey, I have that reference too. It has been all but glued to my wrist since I got it. Black tie assise, it is an incredibly versatile watch, especially since it comes with both a bracelet and a rubber strap. I have often said that one of the reasons I love it is that the Santos looks good in a suit, a bathing suit, a birthday suit and everything in between. And the anthracite dial looks spectacular.
Omega Constellation is also a great option as I have been wearing it daily and I do feel that in the white or black dial it can be one of the most versatile options out there and omega does provide a lot of case options as well so can find one that fits your wrists perfectly
Thank god, i'm not alone. I have the spirit, and put them side by side in IWC ad, they look like the case is built in the same factory. But used in two different brands.
Great selection as always Teddy! It would be cool, IMO, to show the watches with a variety of bands in the cut away shots; such as leather and NATO, which may help highlight the versatility visually. Great video, excellent camera work as always!
I would include Grand Seiko Sport Quartz GMT black dial steel bracelet 39 mm for super reliability of its high accuracy quartz movement, and for having the robustness of an explorer 2 in a better budget with GS being a safer everyday wear for it being more an under the radar brand than a Rolex.Secondly for a more affordable choice the Lorier Falcon Siii which is very beautiful yet simple everyday automatic, for 500 bucks only Ur getting vintage explorer 1 vibes, 100meters wr, a beautifully textured dial, with Omega style domed crystal and aqua terra pointed arrow minute and hour hands.
Great list. Hanhart has launched a new Preventor HD12 model in Black and Blue. A great everyday option with a ton of character. I think the leather strap option is under 1000 euros.
Nice to see the Seiko Alpinist in the honorable mentions. I use it like a daily / field watch. Helps that it’s quite the strap monster too. Makes it even more versatile.
for me it would be the Tudor BB58 - or any of its homages like Pagani or Parnis or San Martin. no crown guards, just the date, snowflakes on a blue dial. then just change bracelet to strap as the day requires.
Either Erebus Ascent or one of the three; Traska Venturer/Summiteer/Commuter are my top picks on the budget side of the spectrum. Guess I'm a microbrand kind of guy.
I have the green dial Gentleman, and I love that watch! It punches way above its weight class in terms of finish and accuracy, and looks great in a suit or with jeans and a tshirt.
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the AMZWATCH, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
Teddy, your 41MM mention of the Longines Conquest in comparison with the other sizes is the old style Conquest just FYI :) Another watch that never gets mentioned that is amazing value for money as well GADA is the Milus Snow Star!
I have the Omega AT small seconds 41mm and the Rolex Explorer 1 in 40mm. Between the two, the Omega is incredible, while the explorer seems boring (especially beside it) - alone however the Explorer is so clean and classy. You can buy the better watch with no fuss, and hardly any wait. I like the Mark XX as well, but couldn't pull the trigger (may be because it looks too plain/toolish for the price) at the end of the day, wearing a Seiko sports 5 is everything else in between. Buy the new Omega AT if you are into watches, try to buy a Rolex if you care about what people think of you (or not so into watches), and If you cant afford more than 1k, look at the Seikos. Cheers!
@@michaelriera6277 Hi there, yes I have the Explorer 1 as mentioned. Great watch. When I need a date window I use the Datejust or Omega AT depending where I go and what clothes I wear. Beautiful watches. I also use a Seiko 5 SRPD. I wish to have other brands too, as I collect more. Have a great day Sir.
I think the IWC goes best with matching leather boat shoes/topsiders, polo shirt and shorts or chinos. With a Tux or suit? Ehhhh..a tad outdoorsy for that imo. Explorer takes the cake as the all around watch!
I wish Hamilton would get with the program and start putting better AR coating in their offerings. I bought the 38mm Khaki Field and the lack of AR really turned me off.
I would nominate the Grand Seiko SBGP001 with its 9F85 movement, 44GS case, champagne dial, and heat blued seconds hand for this list. It’s a stunner but I would say very versatile.
Another watch that is very versatile is the Rolex Datejust 36. The size makes it perfect for different occasions. It can shiny but it’s not to the point where it is in your face. You can even swim with it if you want to.
@@maitrehg I disagree, it's classic and the original size both for men and women. 41mm is for insecure men that have to compensate for something. And proportions on that one are way off, hyped junk and first needs some refinement.
For Tudor I would have gone for the Ranger. I think the BB36 is a bit too classy with the Jubilee bracelet to be a sporty watch. Or maybe I'm biased 'cause I have a Ranger.
I think you're missing out on a lot more options by ignoring micro brands in this video. For instance, Jody Musgrove of Just One More Watch recently released his own GADA watch, the Erebus Ascent. You should do a video on that watch.

I love this concept and most of these watches, but need some type of rotating bezel. I use it as a quick timer all day at work.
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the AMZWATCH, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
I chose the slga009 for grand seiko to be the one that matches the most, with its clean white dial limited texture and no power reserve
Teddy, your 41MM mention of the Longines Conquest in comparison with the other sizes is the old style Conquest just FYI :) Another watch that never gets mentioned that is amazing value for money as well GADA is the Milus Snow Star!
I have the Tissot Gentleman in blue. Now I want it in black. Damn you.
I understand. Having the blue one on the leather strap I would like the black one too. And a green one if it wasn´t for the cross- stripes ...
Explorer 36 is iconic of a daily watch as you can get!!!
The Explorer wins hands down 💪😤🤩
🥱😴😴😴
Tissot gentleman is my go to.
Cheers!
Sir, you do not have an Explorer in your collection.
I guess a Nomos Club Sport would also be a candidate and if you change the strap, an Ahoi as well
Rolex OP 36 Green dial would be my choice. That lacquered green is just as versatile as the blue sunray dial, if not more in my eyes. Abolute classic.
I think the IWC goes best with matching leather boat shoes/topsiders, polo shirt and shorts or chinos.
With a Tux or suit? Ehhhh..a tad outdoorsy for that imo.
Explorer takes the cake as the all around watch!
Outstanding video.I have to go with the MAMACOO, especially with that green dial as my favorite
Hamilton KFA silver dial on the bracelet is my current GADA.
That's the one I want to buy as soon as my dealer gets it... It is versatile, isn't it?
Absolutely, I wore it on my wedding day.
Teddy, would you include the new Hanhart Preventor HD12 on your list?
I think Seiko's sharp edge can be considered as a replacement for Sarb. And a good alternative to Tissot Gentleman.
Another watch that is very versatile is the Rolex Datejust 36. The size makes it perfect for different occasions. It can shiny but it’s not to the point where it is in your face. You can even swim with it if you want to.
Way too small for real men.
@@maitrehg I disagree, it's classic and the original size both for men and women. 41mm is for insecure men that have to compensate for something. And proportions on that one are way off, hyped junk and first needs some refinement.
@@key4duty 41mm is already a small watch for an alpha male. 36mm is for girls or very effeminate boys.
