  • 37 sounds tiny doesn't it? But the Longines Spirit in 37 is in my opinion the gem of the range. There are 3 reasons why this watch just works better at 37, but one small detail they overlooked that keeps it from being perfect.

My 37mm Grand Seiko quartz feels special. I’m still getting used to the smaller size of the dial, and the comfort and quality of the watch are amazing for the money. It is a watch that flies under the radar, which I like.

After 10 years in the watch hobby Ive gradually come around to thinking watches in The 35-38 mm range just look better. Also I love how unobtrusive they feel on the wrist.Thin and small watches were once a statement of refinement.

Depends on your wrist size. Some people a 42-46 mm looks ridiculous. For me it looks perfect. Howevee i love the look of many 36mm watches that just dont work on my wrist

I agree with you 100% my largest diameter watch is 39mm of which I have 2. I have. 36mm and a 38mm as well. What I’ve learned however, is equally as important is the lug to lug measurement. I personally am happy with 47mm but prefer 43-46mm.

I feel it depends on your wrist size and the look you want to go for. My Seamaster 300m Diver at 42mm was too big for my 6.5 inch wrist and after 3 yrs I sold it for the new Tissot PRX 36mm in gold. For me that size adjustment made me prefer the sligher profile in diameter and thickness. If you have thick wrists then a larger watch is sure better 👌

This channel, in my view, has the best combination of production quality and intelligent content in the UA-cam watch community. Regarding the watch, I've had my eye on it. I'm a bit of a Longines fanboy with five examples and a 6.5" wrist. This one checks a lot of boxes for me. The clasp seems fine to me too. I like the bold announcement of Longines on it. A comparable watch in terms of size, function, price, and quality might be the Sinn 556a.

Great review! I just bought this watch to celebrate my retirement. Everything you say about it is true. I have a 6.75 in. or 17mm wrist and u was worried it would look too small. But with the 45mm lug to lug, and large curved male end links, this watch wears like a 38mm case size. It is super light and, as you say, it just hugs my wrist and is extremely comfortable. The sunburst blue dial is stunning. I’m very happy with this watch!

I agree with you buddy about the clasp. They should have just put the logo instead of Longines. I am gonna purchase a new watch. It was between the Tudor 54, Longines Legend Diver 36, or the Longines Spirit 37. Because I live in London, I don't want anything to resemble a Rolex (Could get robbed, Shot, or Stabbed) So it's between the Diver or Spirit.

  • @waltersjohn6339
    @waltersjohn6339 2 роки тому +1

Absolutely! Smaller watches are better. What is ideal is a small watch with a correspondingly small strap. I bought this model with the black matte dial and a leather strap. It is stunning. The finishing is superb especially the polished chamfer edge on the case. To my delight, I found the strap fits me perfectly. I have a 160mm wrist. I am always having to use the last or second to last hole on a strap. It fits, but I really cant stand the "overhang". In the case of this watch the strap fits perfectly with only a moderate amount of overhang: I barely see it when I check the time. Longines has really produces something special with this watch.

I have the Longines RAF watch and I was super impressed with the quality. Especially satisfying for me was how accurate it appeared to be right out of the box. I haven’t broken out the timegrapher in a while, but just by an eyeball test I would say it’s likely my most accurate piece. Longines is doing big things at a great price.

On the basis of this and other reviews I bought, in November, One of the 37mm Longines Spirit with a steel bracelet & 1 kink removed. I have other high end watches and antique time-pieces but this is a truly superb watch and there is absolutely nothing that gives me reservations! It is exactly as the reviews have led one to believe!. I am a male man of a certain age, with male hobbies and interests. The Longine Spirit is certainly a "man's watch" both for the young and old alike. Timeless style and un emphasizad class for almost all occasions. Perhaps with evening dress I'd go for the Cartier tank or the little gold Benson but I await that invitation! In the meantime I adore looking at my wrist with it's gleaming gun barrel blued dial telling me that I'm a day older than I was yesterday!!!

    Nice review, thank you.
Looking for a new everyday watch, after selling my OP36, I knew the Spirit 37 mm was the one, as soon as I saw it. Got the champagne colored one a few weeks ago and I love it. Quality wise, I don’t feel it’s a downgrade from the OP, it feels great. I prefer smaller watches and this one is just perfect for my ~17,5 cm wrist.
I didn’t get it on the bracelet though, I assume the Oyster bracelet feels better. Got a bunch of different straps for it instead. The accuracy is also great, mine’s about - 1 second pr. day.
Overall I’m very happy with it, it’s a awesome watch for the price. 😊

The only thing separating Longines and Omega are the movements. The build quality and finishing of Longines watches in some cases surpasses some Omega's and to be quite frank, I prefer the highly modded ETA movements Longines uses. That wrist showing the watch was not yours. That man needs a 40mm or bigger. Realize there are many men who have a small wrists. I do wear vintage Omegas. Men's wrists in the 1940s
the forties men's watches started at 26.5 mm, 30mm, and 34mm. I own an Invicta. It is a Pro Diver 37mm quartz blue two-tone. That watch is at my breaking point. A Rolex sub is 40mm
hence the Invicta. There are many men with small wrists wearing a watch that is too big. It looks so bad. I think a watch should look tailored to the wearer. I wear vintage Omega from
1934 to 1973. They fit me beautifully. They all keep an excellent time. The only exception is the quartz 37mm Invicta which cost me the princely of $49. So far it has kept excellent time.

I've also read that the lug to lug is 47mm. You state it is 45mm. Is it 45 without the bracelet and 47 with the bracelet end
    links?

The brushing and polishing are great, the watch catches the light, the specs are great but the dial, my god it looks cheap to me and the lugs are not curved enough and the watch is too chunky. All in all could have been great but I would not even consider this watch

Hardest thing about this watch is choosing the colour!!

Noob question - are the blue stickers on the clasp seen at 4:37 supposed to be peeled off?

yes they are, most watches come with stickers you peel off.

My friend, this is indeed a great watch, but can't compare it with the IWC.

Can't stand that trend of huge watches! I do understand there are people with big wrists, but how come are there no options less than 40 mm sometimes?

Alpina Startimer 40mm is the best pilot watch for the price/value/quality. If you cannot afford IWC get Alpina. :)

They should have done a female or negative end link. I think I’d go for the strap on this one

The watch fits you perfectly. The 5 stars are rather lame, though IMO.

I can't decide between the Longines Spirit or the 38mm Tudor Royal

I'd go with the Longines Spirit any day of the week... but the best thing to do is to make sure you can try before you buy. If you can get to an AD/retailer and try both on then even better as you'll have a side by side comparison.

This is all well and good for those chaps with thin wrists. Wear one on the wrist of a larger gentleman and it isn't a great look. Like a pimple on an elephant's bum. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but as in other aspects of life, size matters. Make your own minds up when choosing the right watch for you. Today I bought a gorgeous longines 42mm spirit.

Love it. I tried the 40mm on a blue leather strap but wasn’t sold on the 3 o clock date window or long lug to lug. (17.5 cm wrist).

Easy to write when one’s wrists are under 8”. I agree that over-sized watches look absurd, but big watches look just find on big men.

Longines- ah, they know how todo irony, don't they?
Yes, we give you a nice bracelet ( apart from that branding) that's easy to remove as we know you have so many 19mm straps.

Small watches are fine if you've got girly wrists, but anything below 40mm imo, on a 7" wrist, just looks plain daft. With an 8" wrist, my smallest wear is 43mm ... a 35mm - 38mm would just look like a woman's bangle!
