For 7 inch wrist I am normally wearing Field watch like Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical which is 38. But this Longines is Pilot watch right? But yeah, somehow the longer lug to lug proportion would be fine for even 37 here. Anyway, I believe I can wear even 40. Also 37 has unfortunately worse lume than 40 (doesn't stay that long).
Thank you so much for this review. Videos are still so rare for the 37mm. This is my next watch. And one of the reasons is, as you said, that it's so comfortable to read the time super quickly with the numerals. And all the rest is top notch anyways. Thanks again!
@@MinuteMon Hi, can you tell me where you've got the black nato strap from that can be seen at 00:42? Can't find this style of nato anymore, especially not in black without striping! Looks high quality! Thanks in advance!
We need more shots like the one you have at 6:11, those give a much better idea of the sizing than wrist rolls and such. Not sure why YT reviewers rarely do it.
Always felt the Spirit was a dressier pilot watch; however, the polished hands and especially the 6:00 date window of the 37 elevates it even more which I like. I wish the 40 had similar details.
I put this watch (37 mm) in my bucket list from the first day it was released. And only now it's finally on my wrist. Perfect watch for me. On a bracelet.
Just got it. Same as yours, black dial on bracelet. I think I have a slightly larger wrist and I could probably wear the 40, but I love the classic sizing and the date positioning. So happy about it, I feel it will be my go-to watch for a long long time.
Good watch. Have the 40mm blue dial in leather strap around a year now. + Beautiful design + Top movement and power reserve + Lume on par with more expensive watches + 5 year warranty - Can hear some ticking noise on occasions. Not noticeable on the Black Bay but 2x the price. + Like Black Bay probably a very durable timepiece dropped the pilot once and glass not a scratch, movement, crown etc unaffected. + No vibration felt on wrist which can happen on cheaper/non-swiss watches. Fits almost all occasions and clothing. A staple watch for sure worn often no regets. Overall best pilot watch around $3k and next level is IWC pilot but 3x the price.
I've been trying to look for a watch that is overtly attractive. I know it isn't the only way, and probably not the best, but when I nerd out on watches that way I do, "does it look good with my personal style" is most often left behind in favor of things like movement, brand recognition, originality, history, Etc. This watch and its Zulu time counterpart are just good looking watches.
I think for most people including me, the fit / the look / design of the watch is the first priority. If I don’t like that, then everything else won’t matter. I realized that movement is actually one of my last priorities when looking at buying a watch these days
37mm is such a perfect size. I also love how they moved the date window to 6. The only thing I still don't like about the spirit is the 5 stars they put above the 6. It reminds me of the Amazon star ratings lol. Wish it just said Chronometer without the stars above it - it will make the dial less busy and look more refined
I have 7in wrist so could wear both easily but would go 37mm. My main watch is a Reverso duoface medium, so I’ve been looking for a smaller daily wear/grab n go that isn’t too big in comparison to the JLC… and this ticks all the boxes to be honest. Just got to decide between the Tudor bb58 with a bezel or this with a date…
Thank you for the great review and side by side comparison. I have to be honest I have never fancied any of the Longines watches until the 40mm Spirit! a while back I was in an AD, I put it on and disappointed with the long lug to lug distance of 50mm which is too much for a 40mm watch, that lug to lug distance is usually a 42 or 43mm watch territory! then came along the 37mm which is the absolute sweet spot! hence I ordered one and I am a happy. Thanks to you again. Your review made my buy it.
Stunning. This is truly the full package. Look forward to trying it on wrist! And maybe borrowing some of your Grand Seiko straps in the process that you clearly have in excess. ;) As a typography nerd, what first hooked me are those arabic numerals. They are beautiful, and applied to boot. But everything else on the dial is also perfectly laid out. The Spirit series in general nails it; the GMT is flat out gorgeous (if too big for me).
Excellent review and great photography This one has been on my radar for a while and this might be the video that made up my mind Keep up the good work
As someone who rotates between a vintage Longines 5-star Admiral and a Certina DS-1 Titanium...this is absolutely going to be the next watch I buy; it's like Longines read my mind, and they are hitting homers with their recent releases!
Hello sir, I totally confused with the available colours, which one I should chose? How about champagne dial ? How it looks? Because in photos & videos it doesn’t give proper justification.
The 40mm titanium is my favorite Spirit, but this is a smart release. I do think it would be nice if they revised the other sizes to have a 6 o'clock date, though I am not sure how that would look with the same movement in the 42mm.
I tried the 42mm version in a watch store (the didn't have the smaller ones) and it looks amazgin, although a little too large. I can't wait to be able to try the smaller ones. This is a SURE BUY for me.
Thanks for the great review. I'm right on the edge of buying the 40mm but I do think the 50 mm lug to lug is too large even for my 7.25" wrist. The 37 mm size seems like it might be too small but the 49 mm lug end to end might make it acceptable. I have no where to try this on so it's a difficult decision.
Sorry but if the 40mm version have 50mm lug-to-lug, how is possible that the 37mm have 49mm lug-to-lug? There is not proportion at all. The 37mm version should have a maximum 46mm lug-to-lug width.
Nice, Longines are bringing out some great relaeses the last years.....just the issue with the (too) long lug to lug size stays...a dealbreaker for many
Nice review. I love the Spirt series, it’s the best of dress and sports. I picked up a Zulu spirt time, which is perfect my wrist just over 7. It’s great to see models in different sizes for different wrists. I’ve owned a variety of watches over the years, from Rolex to Zenith to IWC. I’m loving the Spirt, this is all you need.
Both watches are excellent. I own the 40 but would definitely also wear the 37. In my opinion, the bracelet is the only aspect that is not top notch, but everything else is great.
Bought the blue dial in 40mm. The "long lugs" don't present a problem for my 7.5 inch wrist but I can see why there would be a problem for those with smaller wrists.
This checks a lot of boxes for me. I would really like a screw-down crown on it, though. It's always disappointing when features are removed for smaller versions of watches.
I used to think like you in the past and refuse buying watches if they didn’t have it. However, screw down crown is not that important. It does nothing to the water resistance and could possibly create more issues in the future, for example with the thread.
Thank you for your video! I'm considering to buy this for the next watch and it's really tempting to me especially black dial & 37mm. Nowadays Im sick and tired by my 40mm submariner, and want to have mid size tool watch. Actually I experienced several longines wathes before, but this watch is quite diffent by its finishing and dimentional in dial compared with previous models! And I love your sense of humor in every 6th date in 6 hour position & 19mm lug strap of gs (because I have several 19mm straps too.. 😂😂) anyway, thank you for video again, and I subscribed!
Great video! I loved these Spirits when they came out originally but since then my enthusiasm cooled off a bit. I didn't consider looking closely at the 37mm because I thought it would look just too small. But this video completely changed my mind and now I have to try it somewhere. It looks great on the bracelet! So thanks but no thanks. :)
Thank you very much for the great video and information. Could I please ask you, if you had the chance to only have a 37mm and you did not have the 40mm already, which color would you pick between the blue or the black dial? Also, What are your thoughts on each color? I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
If I didn’t have the blue I’d still go for the black dial. At least for my collection - I don’t have a lot of black dial watches and I think it matches the aesthetic of the Pilot watch the best.
@@MinuteMon Thank you immensely for the feedback. Although it’s hard to decide, I think I lean towards the black one as well as my next purchase. All the best to you and enjoy your watch in good health.

It is so different than a Aqua Terra. But that is good. I already have the 40mm version, it will never be symmetrical, but a beauty for its own with its highlights. I will buy AT next year
The domed crystal looks great on the 37. I do not think this is coming out of the standard parts bin. Kudos to Longines for the extra costs to make a smaller but no lesser watch.
Everything I’ve read is that the bracelet has push pins, except one person on a forum who said it has screws, but split pins can look like screws if you don’t know any better. Are you positive it’s pin and collar? Did you size it yourself? Great review by the way, I’m hoping to pick one of these up later this year.
Yes I sized it myself, you are correct it is technically split pins - not pin and collar. Thanks for catching that. Yes sometimes the split pins looks like screws but Longines typically uses those split pins in their bracelets
Go with the iwc as you'll keep looking at it and eventually buy it, Longines is a nice watch but iwc is thr king of pilot watches, the designs are better imo.
