This 37-38mm case size watch range is stacked! Absolutely beautiful watches and very good choices by Teddy. As an owner of Spirit 37mm I fully agree that it's the sleeper pick for this year and quite possibly the best GADA watch out there right now in 2k or even 3k price range. Also thanks for pointing out that Nomos has released Club Sport in 37mm. I've been eyeing that 42mm model for a long time now but it has felt too big. This 37mm seems like a perfect fit (not too big but still has enough wrist presence for a sports watch). And by the way: These 37-38mm watches are not only for the people with small wrists. I have quite big wrists but I still prefer this case size over the typical 40mm size.
Just to give peace of mind for someone who is considering the STP movements, I've owned a couple and never had any issues whatsoever. Currently have a Super Sea Wolf with the STP 3-13 movement, and previously had one with an STP 1-11 movement. I was also very hesitant from reading stories on watch forums, but I believe at this point they've resolved those QC issues.
I have 6.25 mm wrists. People talk about skinny wrists, I have next level skinny wrists. So seeing recommendations of 38 mm or smaller cases is much appreciated. I also have a big ass head.
I’d recommend the GS SBGX261. I love mine. It’s the least expensive way to get into Grand Seiko without going preowned. It’s quartz but the 9F movements are phenomenal.
I'm not usually a fan of yellow gold, preferring pink/rose/red gold. But I have to say that Vacheron Historiques is a knockout in yellow gold! A beautiful watch. It definitely looks like a ultra-luxury watch! And my appreciation of the AP Royal Oak has really grown over the last year. Very nice watch, but still if I had the budget for one, I'd probably go for a JLC or a Glashutte Original.
I bought the Grand Seiko Elegance SBGW287 a couple days ago to commemorate my first born son and me becoming a father. It's one of the two latest seasonal releases on the SBGW series that is modeled after the SGBW231. It's such a bold 37mm dress watch with a burgundy dial and red crocodile leather strap. My boy was born a couple weeks ago on 16 Nov. The SBGW287 was released the same exact month as my boy's birthday! It's nuts to have a not just a birth year watch but a birth month watch!
Normally, the most striking design element of Grand Seiko is dial texture, but this burgundy color is fantastic looking (& my favorite color, as well!)
@@DeeEllEff totally agree, with GS it's all about dial and spring drive is a bonus. Would have loved to get a spring drive but my favorite one (sky flake) was out of the budget. But there's something special about getting my first manual wind watch as well.
I have the Mido Commander 59. It's extremely accurate. As defining elements, I would have also added this being a monocoque design. There is no case back. The sides are nice and sculpted. It feels like jewelry and I love to handle it, cleaning it, setting, etc. Another thing about its desing is the heavily recessed crown. It's really not made to be hand wound. Back then (59) it was done like that to attract attention this is an automatic watch. And it uses the new sealing tech they were famous for.
I'm not sure but I think MIDO is one of few companies that regulate their watches to a chronometric accuracy level, even if it's not sent for cosc certification. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
So those hinges for the integrated mesh bracelet are molded into the top and bottom of the monocoque case? Looking at the pics on Teddy’s sales site, I’m still trying to figure it out…🤷♂️
@@DeeEllEff Um, the holes for the bars are drilled into the case, about 2-3mm from the edge. The case is mashined so that first 2mm if the bracelet are housed in the case. The case thus sits on the wrist, and not on the bracelet. The Commander II or Iconê has the same integration. But its a much bigger case, at 42mm. It wears as a 40mm, but a full dial one. Comfortable but big, visually.
I just got the SBGW231 a couple weeks ago, and I adore it so much. Perfect way to get into GS with the classic dress watch design. The movement you can view from the exhibition caseback is a dream, especially if you appreciate hand winding movements
I'll add the Victorinox INOX 37mm. I don't like the way it's marketed as 'women's' but it fits great on my sub 7" wrist. Sapphire, signed screw down crown, 200m. A real tank of a watch.
I've learned to start checking the women's watches when there is a specific watch I want and the Men's sizes are too large for my wrist. Quite a few produce the same design in a smaller case diameter and market it as a women's watch or a unisex watch (for instance, the Longines VHP watch is way too big for me in the men's size, but they offer a 36mm case diameter listed as a Women's watch. They offer one with exactly the same look as the men's, as well as a version that replaces the indices with diamonds, so you do have to watch for these subtle design changes).
@@balesjo Yep me too. I have a men's Eterna from 1956 that's 34mm. I found I actually really liked the size even though I have an average wrist and am a big guy anyway. So when I wanted something similar for daily use I picked up a Presage SSA785J1 for about 200€ on sale. It's 33,8mm and I don't find it too small at all for general office/daily use. That's the other thing with shopping the women's catalogue: you can find some decent sales on there!
STP3-13 is an automatic watch movement with swan neck regulator from Swiss Technology Production. It is based on the popular ETA 2824-2 and uses the same wheel architecture. STP uses a longer, thinner mainspring, boosting power reserve to 44 hours. It also includes an extra jewel on the barrel arbor. Cal. STP3-13 first appeared in the STP catalog in 2016.
Just got my first Mido Commander II crono 6 months ago.Love the watch. It hits way above its weight class. I’d pair it higher than my longines, and Oris. Both higher priced. Don’t get me wrong they’re great watches but, the Mido really pops. It’s polished in all the right places to grab more attention. I get way more praise on the Mido than all my other higher priced watches. 5 🌟Mido!!!
I feel like I inspired this video. Teddy saw my fragile wrists carrying a blue dial 50th 37mm RO at the GS event and he got inspired. I take full credit.
I think you should include an endlink to endlink dimension in your spec graphics going forward. The Longines spirit on the bracelet has a true lug-to-lug of almost 50mm, which wipes out comfortable wearability on a wrist like mine (6.2 inches).
@@brokeskie1985 the bracelet has solid endlinks which stick out (similar to Rolex oyster bracelet). It has a separate lug-to-lug measurement on its bracelet.
Great review Teddy. You asked about Zodiac and the STP movement....I have three Zodiac watches including the Sea Dragon the Olympos and Sea Wolf 🐺. All have STP movements which are very accurate and have given me absolutely no problems at all over the last 10 years of ownership. Hope this helps. Cheers Noel
My Super Seawolf 53 stopped ticking after 2 weeks of gentle use, which put me off at first. I sent it in for servicing, and it’s been perfectly fine ever since. Additionally, my Super Seawolf World Time has had no issues after almost a year and I am not gentle with it. Dope brand.
I have a Seiko SNK361 that I really like. They were still selling them at Jomashop last time I checked for about $100. The 37mm case design wears really well on my smaller wrist, and I really like the texture/design on the black dial. If you look really close, you can see mini Seiko 5 logos across the entire dial. I ditched the bracelet (like many people do) and put mine on a brown leather strap. I highly recommend picking one up if you can!
What’s the largest watch you are able to pull off? I have the same size wrist lol I’m new to the watch world and have got two 37mm so far. I tried a 40mm prx and it almost looked comical on my wrist. Although I know the integrated bracelet didn’t help! I’m guessing my ceiling is 39mm tops. I know lug too lug is a factor also… thanks for any feedback. ⌚️
@@ninjasrose1653 I can pull off certain 40mm watches like my Seiko 5kx but most of the time my favorite size of watch is 36 mm. The PRX wears way bigger than it’s 40 mm would suggest. Thanks Teddy - including that King Seiko made me think of Citizen AQ4080 as a dress watch alternative... going about $1800, this is 37.4mm really elegant looking... and it's photo voltaic eco-drive high accuracy quartz (+/- 5 seconds per year)... power reserve over a year when fully charged. I haven't seen or owned this watch - but does sound interesting.

I have a large wrist ,but im not bothered about wearing 37mm or 38 mm watches. In my opinion the Rado 1957 golden horse in red plume 37mm looks and feels fantastic
The Spirit is a beauty. I also like the Longines Silver Arrow, which is a bit larger at 38 mm but would work on a small wrist. Longines has so many interesting watches that if it were in my budget, I'd probably have an all-Longines collection.
@@balesjo That's also nice but a bit more dressy. Having 100m resistance and being Cosc certified, and a date window, I can see myself wearing the Spirit every day. This one is a Tudor BB killer at this price
Will have to say that Nomos wins it for me. I own the same watch in a sirene blue dial and it is amazing, not on a bracelet. It was in the sea and the pool during my last vacation and it is just perfect.
Casio f-91W is 33mm but it should be in every small wrist collection, I have 33 to 42mm watches (casio, timex, citizen, longines, Hoffman, orient) but I have to say that I love my F-91W, is one of the most Reliable watches.
Great video 👍. I fell instantly for the Mido commander 1959. Just my style of watch. Also like the mesh strap too. Would love this beautiful watch on my wrist down in the Mediterranean on hot summer nights. Wonderful 😊.
In the middle of the twentieth century, the Emperor of Japan used to go overseas on visits to friendly nations. He used to present an especially made Seiko to heads of state on these visits. These watches were of the same model. They were very understated and perhaps not supposed to be very desirable. The feature which stood out was the symbol of the Emperor, the Chrysanthemum flower, on the dial of the watch. The Grand Seiko featured as a dress watch in this video, on the other hand, is very beautiful, even though it is intended to be very simple in design. I haven't come across a design of watch which appealed to me more.
Are there any new (or not so old) men's dress watches that are in the 32~34mm range? I am looking really hard for one and seem to come up short irrespective of price. Currently wear a relatively cheap Longines LeGrande Classique Automatic (33mm) and previous gen Yacht Master 35mm (168622) -- the later which I find kinda big and too thick. The JLC Master Ultra thin is too big at 38.5mm as is the V-C Patrimony self-winding 36.5mm -- both also forces you into stinky leather with no bracelet offered.
@Teddy Baldassarre I would love to see a series that covers the whole product portfolio of well known brands. Meaning each video would cover one brand. I was inspired to this thought by the Casio G-Shock video you did. Their collection is enormous and confusing. Your video made it way simpler to understand! A similar video for Seiko, Rolex, Breitling, etc. that briefly touches on the main watches in their portfolio and explains why they are important would be super cool and very educational.
Teddy! I really appreciate what you do for this community. I have a suggestion for a video: Why don't you count down the best anti-magnetic watches? As a jazz musician, I constantly come across speakers, microphones, and other techy stuff that have strong magnetic fields. Thanks!
Thumbs up, Teddy. Love your content. Big thumbs up to keep this series going. I suspect you could do a part II at this size as well - I’d like to see it. Thx
The Yacht-Master you were showing is not a 37 mm version, they only excited in 35mm & 40mm. In steel the only version that exist is with the grey dial with babyblue hand and "Yacht-Master" written on the dial or the two-tone (rose gold) or oysterflex.
Thanks for the video and keep it going! I'd love to see 36, 35 and even 34mm. I realize with most brands there won't be much choice there, but a look down the "women's" catalogue might bring up more choices. Many of those aren't overtly "feminine" in their design and could also go for men who like the smaller sizes. (Of course I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth it to make these videos for women or nonbinary people as well, though the viewership might surely be smaller)
The Marathon GPM is a strong contender in the field watch category. The strap is nothing special and the resin case looks quite plain. But that dial and handset just look clean. And the tritium lume has a pleasant, soft glow. The Swiss assembly and regulation complement a Seiko NH35. I love mine.
I'm surprised you didn't put the Seiko 5 sport field watches. They are more expensive, but with 100m wr and hacking/hand winding, they really are the better affordable mechanical field watch.
Excellent video. That VC 222 is villain material...love it. A great affordable recommendation for 37 mm is also the Seiko SNXF05, the lesser known brother of the SNXS79. Have fun!
On behalf of small wrist people everywhere, I thank you for your service.

I used to love larger watches but as I get older, I am gravitating more and more towards smaller sized cases. 39-36 is the sweet spot for me.
Nomos looks like the best choice to me. Thin, saphire glass, classic style with a modern touch, and 200m resistant. Looks perfect!
Bad lug to lug, though. Long long looong lugs.

you’re the goat teddy 🙌🏻
SBGW231 is an insanely versatile and satisfying watch. It looks so good with both casual and formal attires.
A great flieger style watch would be the 37mm Laco Augsburg and aachen, an amazing finish and a miyota caliber for 340$
Are there any new (or not so old) men's dress watches that are in the 32~34mm range? I am looking really hard for one and seem to come up short irrespective of price. Currently wear a relatively cheap Longines LeGrande Classique Automatic (33mm) and previous gen Yacht Master 35mm (168622) -- the later which I find kinda big and too thick. The JLC Master Ultra thin is too big at 38.5mm as is the V-C Patrimony self-winding 36.5mm -- both also forces you into stinky leather with no bracelet offered.
👍King Seiko, Grand Seiko, ALS, AP, and VC.👍
@Teddy Baldassarre I would love to see a series that covers the whole product portfolio of well known brands. Meaning each video would cover one brand. I was inspired to this thought by the Casio G-Shock video you did. Their collection is enormous and confusing. Your video made it way simpler to understand! A similar video for Seiko, Rolex, Breitling, etc. that briefly touches on the main watches in their portfolio and explains why they are important would be super cool and very educational.
This series is a great concept. Keep going!
Teddy! I really appreciate what you do for this community. I have a suggestion for a video: Why don't you count down the best anti-magnetic watches? As a jazz musician, I constantly come across speakers, microphones, and other techy stuff that have strong magnetic fields. Thanks!
Quartz watches. Sinn 756 and omega aqua terra gauss. There's actually a lot of watches made for magnetism now that I think of it
Teddy--love ya man--throw out that Bulova. A field watch with 30m WR isn't a field watch.
But for real man, your work rocks.
Fantastic introduction to 37mm I thought that 37mm had disappeared every one wants bid chunks
The Radio Seahorse is stunning 😍
I´m in loooove with Rado watches. That one from Zodiac is beautiful as well, and the 222 is a dream. Great video as always Teddy.
Great idea to line up watches by sizes, Teddy.
Kid, you’ve got great and solid style.
Thumbs up, Teddy. Love your content. Big thumbs up to keep this series going. I suspect you could do a part II at this size as well - I’d like to see it. Thx
The Bulova field watch has a thickness of14.5 mm?
Nice, keep going down in sizes with this series!
I have had no issues with the STP movement in the Serica WMB.
King Seiko is an absolute beauty (if can hold nose over the movement)
The Marathon GPM is a strong contender in the field watch category. The strap is nothing special and the resin case looks quite plain.
But that dial and handset just look clean. And the tritium lume has a pleasant, soft glow.
The Swiss assembly and regulation complement a Seiko NH35.
I love mine.
I'm surprised you didn't put the Seiko 5 sport field watches. They are more expensive, but with 100m wr and hacking/hand winding, they really are the better affordable mechanical field watch.
Thank you Teddy!!!
The King Seiko's are beautiful IMO. Bit of a shame the price is a bit high for the movement as you say, but there's something about it nonetheless.
I have an 8 1/2 " wrist, but still love the 37mm. Just saying
Great job. So many people get caught up in believing they have to own a watch greater than 40mm.
Excellent video. That VC 222 is villain material...love it. A great affordable recommendation for 37 mm is also the Seiko SNXF05, the lesser known brother of the SNXS79. Have fun!
What jean jacket are you wearing at 13:30?
Thanks Teddy…As usual amazing video
thoughts on the longines presence and record?
The thing about the 222 is that it actually looks like it's worth the price.
Yeah but which boots should I buy to pair with these?
Golden Horse is totally slept on.
I really like that beads of rice bracelet. It looks very comfortable!
