Your hinge orientation most importantly keeps someone from picking it up and hauling it away.
Great job guys. I’ll be doing the same soon.
I just did this in Florida. I went deep on the main hinge post with an auger and it literally took about 60 seconds since we have pure sand with no rocks. When I lived in NY it would take me hours.
Very helpful! Thanks!
I would add a wheel to the bottom of the gate.
Oh ya? Well I would add a cable to the top!
nice video I'm about to install one of these soon
The black looks classy.
looks nice
Beautiful video
You have a pleasant and well paced presentation
And your dad is really handsome
You never spread your concrete at the top like you did there. You have now created a cone in the wrong direction. You have given frost a place to grab and heave up. You always stop your concrete while still inside the hole thus not creating the frost heave ledge.
Like a bell, I dug more fox holes than a Soldier.
Great video. No more videos? Where'd y'all go? 😢🙏
Amen
Boom
Nice job, but you should have put the top peg under the top brace.
Exactly. Provides support.
Extra support, Yes. But also less security. All one has to do to remove the gate is to lift the gate off the hinges. With the pegs facing opposite directions, one has to remove one of the brackets in order to remove the gate. It's a tradeoff.
@@obewise Seems anyone can jump this gate or just walk by the side entrance.
The idea is nobody can drive a vehicle through the driveway.
@@bridesnyc livestock can push the gate up and off the pegs
But how much distance between posts to accompany the gate?
Lay it out to get the distance. And remember if using an automatic opener, Gate needs bump against post on the opening .side so not to over extend the opener
Nice. You didn't use an earth auger because you wanted the exercise?
Were your posts weather treated?
Where you get those posts?
What about Amazon
How much did it cost in all?
I think the 16" door is about $200 in TSC and the post about $50- $100
So I put up an 8-foot fence to keep my neighbor's dogs out of my yard and eating my chickens now they just squeezed under the gate or jump over the gate
Had the same problem but used barbwire. 3 really close strands at the bottom and spaced out st the top, but with this same type of gate for the driveway. You can add different fencing to fill the gaps as needed
Bottom hinge Always to face down. No deciding necessary
Why is that?
NO MASK, WOW IRON LUNGS YOU ALL HAVE LOL
Is it just me or is the gate sloping badly?
This is why I dont believe in post to be same high/level..I rather make sure the gate is line up . ( happened to my gate so I adjusted it)
@@bridesnyc The likely leveled it to the earth, not the ground. Plus that is fence hardware, so its going to sag. Since its going to sit closed or open 99.9% of the time, you can easily install a small pad next to the stop post so when the gate is closed, it has something to sit on.
That's what I thought
cant you justadjust the bottom bolt to come out more, and that would level it?
Great presentation, more showing and less telling. So many other videos yack too much and don't show. Your text is just enough.
Wheel
2 eight foots wood be better lol
NOT FOR THEM, THE ENTRANCE IS LONGER
DIY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂what a joke......STILL DIDN'T DO IT RIGHT😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
