Please tell your son the internet has concluded that his work ethic is most impressive. 👍
The best prt of the Video is your Boy refusing to quit on digging that hole !
Really cool that you let the boy dig the second hole. If that was me at his age, my dad would have gotten frustrated after 10 minutes and just taken over.
Gopher McGillicudy lol yep
Great little film
A young lad that will work that hard will always be employed
@@mwalker8269 Not if it takes him 3 hrs to dig a 42" hole LOL. But its a start! and he shows great promise:)
@@cothobh9833 hes a kid. You expect him to be as fast as a full grown adult?
@@gerardoandrade6966 No dude, he's a kid. joking
@@gerardoandrade6966 if the kid grew up on a farm he would be quicker than most full grown adults and have it straight without leveling.
....or an entrepreneur, perhaps. If he isn't afraid to trade a little security blanket I like to call just over broke for a truly unlimited earning potential.
I love it! the benifits of being a parent! Finally, delegating digging a hole! Awesome video!
I'm glad to see Eli was not playing video games, and am I the only one who thought that dog was a calf in the beginning....lol
haha i thought it was a horse.
I looked for videos like this because I have a project like this coming up. Nice job, nice place and nice family. Your son's determination was most impressive. Good job young man!
Thank you Glenn I really appreciate comments like this I like to show them to him for encouragement. Merry Christmas.
Very nice! BTW, if you have wifi at the gate (from your house) you can add a Wemo Maker (by Belkin) so that you can open the gate from your phone; regardless of whether you're in the house, at the gate or half way around the world. I've done this for mine and works great! You can still keep keypad and/or clicker so that you have multiple means by which to open the gate. Again, looks great!
JLM_Texas.....thanks for the info regarding the wemo maker.....my gate is 20 meters away with no wifi at the gate.....any other option to still use this device? Wired? Also looking for something which provides some sort of video output? Thanks
@@joebloggs1155 confront them with your concealed weapon ready. I have many times and have yet to draw it
Is there a parts list?
Good to see a kid with such a strong work ethic! Good job Mom and Dad!!
Terrific job Man! Great production value with equally great content. Thanks for posting!
Great video! Just the kind of setup we need for our country driveway to stop the snoops who ignore the no trespassing signs and security cameras. Definitely a project for this fall. Would it be possible to rent Eli for a couple days? Great kid! You are very blessed!
Yeah a gate is apparently required for people who don't know how to respect others' personal property, which is still mind blowing to me. I have a chain locked between to 4x4 posts as a temporary gate for now until I can set up something more substantial
Remember working with my dad when I was 9 years old keep that young boy moving make sure he loves to be outside one day he could be a landscape architect
Good thing you got that gate up when you did...that black and white horse was about to escape!
Damn...I thought the dog was a cow in the background !!! :-)
I thought it was a mini horse.
I WAS JUST GONNA SAY CAN'T TELL IF DOG, COW, OR MINI HORSE.
That being said, if that is a horse, that horse is JTRH-NBR
I did too!!
Lol me too
Nice Job. Always enjoy do it yourself videos and especially with young dedicated helpers
Eli, you are a very impressive young man! Good mom and dad to raise such a young man with commitment and willingness to work!
Nice video- really liked the fast fwd & seeing the wife ck to make sure it met with her approval - but mostly kudos for letting son help !
Her approval? She doesn't even know what's going on...she came out to hopefully to learn something
That’s a good boy. Digging is the worst part of building fence. I wish my boy is old enough to help me do that. Thanks for sharing
You’ve got a good son there, sir 💕 thanks for the idea on the gate. I’m going to attempt something similar.
Sweet! Now that’s a post!! Your son is a beast!! Great job!!!!
You and your wife have a good kid he little maned up a helped dad 👍 god bless him .I have a son like that and always proud of him.
Not bad! I am looking into fencing in the back yard portion of our property and will be parking the cars behind the house and will need a gate like this. I just wish I could find help like what you had for digging the holes! Unfortunately, not many kids these days are willing to do that kind of thing anymore!
Good job on the gate. Eli- you are awesome!!!!
he should do these videos for companys, great job. no bs
Nice job, I know it was a while ago.
But thank you it helps.
I like your miniature pony....:)
I’m impressed that your cow just hangs out on the driveway like that instead of wandering off.
Nice work I wish you show us how did you installed the might mule motor to see more detail will be grate. Some people they ask for too much money to build gate like that . thank you
That kid is the "man"!
Great job young fellow.
Eli: great job. Muy bien.
Hey great video! Can you explain the logic circuit on your linear actuator?
Good for you sitting there while your son worked, something I would have done too!
I like the sweet 75% Off. That is a game changer. If only I had your luck with special deals.
I loved your video, thanks for posting it. It was well produced, your work is super clean and I admire your thrift as well.
I don’t use 16 foot gates on the farm, only 12 foot. There’s too much leverage on the post. Your post will start to lean because there’s too little in the ground also. You won’t be happy with the screw in hinges. The bolt through style with a nut on each side of the post are much better for adjusting the gate.
So how is the mighty mule holding up? Any updates to the project? What you lik, what you would do differently, etc? Thank you.
This is pretty cool. Legit question though, not criticizing, legitimately asking: What's to stop someone from lifting it off the hinges? And what's to stop someone from just driving through, is the only thing keeping it closed the hydraulic arm on the opener?
You can dig like that in Texas and only get 3 inches deep
Garrett cooke try Michigan.
That's why god invented Mexicans.
Aaron C
Racist much? You piece of shit.
Jimmy Fast he’s not wrong
They’re goddamn excellent workers
If Texans weren’t 14 fingered inbreds they could dig better
That kid will grow up to be a fine man. Work ethic of my generation :) Must come from great parenting. I loved the great Dane casually strolling around :)
It’s been a few years since you installed your gate. How is the equipment holding up? Any changes made?
Nice job. Good description and details.
Nice work 💖🏅, how is it working 2 years later? Is the solar panel keeping the battery charged? I may do the same thing, I live on a very long driveway
I'd add wheels to the other end of the gate which will help it open and take uneeded forces off the opener
it doesnt look like the ground is level enough tho, as soon as it opens the wheel will lift off the ground or vice versa
@@christophervayo3530 maybe but you can get some caster assemblies with a little spring style suspension in them
The manufacturer of the opener specifically states not to use wheels of any kind on the gates for some reason. Assuming it is due to undue stress if used on not perfectly level ground.
You have a great little man there and a great gate!
Nicely done ✅. Where did you buy electric line stick for the posts? I guess you don’t listed in the cost? Or did you find it on the side of the road 🤣😎🤙
The KID has a lot of energy.💪👍
Perfect solution for that application. Thanks.
6 years and that 16' gate is now $210!!! thanks bidenomics
Great job except the 75% discount on the opener is what's making this look so good. And that discount rarely occurs.
Regular price is the cost of this entire project.
I was just wishing I could find a sale like that.
Don’t forget about the free pole
Does anyone know the weight limit that each motor can open individually?
Everything looks great I wouldn’t change a thing but I would add a wheel at end of the gate to keep it from sagging.
T Hammer Maybe could have offset the hinges a bit to account for the play in the system, but with something that big the sag is always an issue
Just 4 years later and the price of Mighty Mule openers at Home Depot now start at $260 (for light duty) and go up from there. That's $200 more than your materials cost list at 5:40 in your video.
The light duty is now $310 (Dec 5, 2022).
@@Pterodactyl-kn3ve he said he got it at 75% off
this is great, id like to install a similar gate. can you tell me, after time did the hinges on the post warp or sag because of the weight from the gate?
Great question. The gate is very light so it has not sagged or needed any adjustment at all.
Nice job and Eli is a hard working dude!
Can anyone please provide detailed information on which products to purchase and the method? Thanks
👌🏆you guys make it look so easy
This is awesome, nice work. My next project, and ironically I have a 9 year old son and a harlequin great dane lol
awesome work. Qs: Can I use this gate OR any other gate from TSC as a sliding / rolling gate (Assuming I need to have rollers on the post and at the leading edge of this gate)?
ruturajp thank you! I believe you can use rollers with the gate, but it would add drag for the actuator. Mine was only rated for a 12ft gate. This one is 16ft and it is still going strong but it is very easy to open and close since it doesn't have rollers adding friction.
*THANK YOU!*
What is the point of the second post? Its not latching.
Great job, extremely impressed with the young man's work ethic!
Great job 👏🏽👏🏽
Good job Eli you ll bringt it somewhere in this world!
Great video! Your boy Eli rocks 👊
What size linear actuator did you get? Do you have a link to it?
These gate openers are all a couple hundred bucks. Any idea on part or mode number?
Well done young man!
Other than mighty mule sucks and the gears fall apart. We replace tons of them with Liftmaster!!!
1:00 Holy sh*t, that's a dog!? I thought it was a cow!!
What holds the posts into the ground? Did you pour cement? Or did you simply dig the hole deep enough so that the dirt holds in place?
Arthur Schwartz the holes are larger in diameter at the bottom than at the top and I filled them full of concrete. They are very firm.
Where can I get the L-Hooks (also called Screw Hooks by some) that were long enough to go through your 12” telephone pole? Thank you in advance.
Eli has one hell of a work ethic.
Glad to see lil man work. My son is the same way so proud of him. Outside and not stuck inside on a tablet
Your dog is huge!!! Marmaduke!
Sorry, I didn’t watch the video to the total end I now see the parts list. Thank you.
The star of the video is your son... Good for Him. He will value your work even more....
Home depot and everywhere else had the Mighty Mulr opener at $300 and a round $700 with the rest of the stuff. How are you finding it $62 or even $200??
Nice Job 👍🏽
Where did you get the posts and how much?
Thank you
Should gate side hinge brackets be mounted under the bars for support ?
Mike Ulmer I thought so too but the instructions said to do one under and one over. The reason is to keep from someone being able to loft the gate up off both hinges and remove it.
Every project is cheaper when people give you materials for it.
Nate T. But he worked hard because he had no idea what he was doing. He used that level 92 times
Anyone knows you always double check that it’s level. I would rather check 100 times and have it perfect instead of having a gate that is not level since he set it in concrete
@@jonezj77 if I didn't have my handy dandy 2-way post level, I'd have checked it 92 times too.
What gate opener did you use?
Where did you get lights or reflectors for gate?
ive always heard over time these style gates result in dragging and can be an issue. Being this gate is so long and the only thing supporting it is on the one side, has this been the slightest issue and if not do you feel it could be later on?
Add a gate wheel to the end = solved
You were very lucky to score an opener for under $100. I can't find any under $300 where I live
Great job Eli Great parents too
Where did you get the gate opener hardware?
For the first half of this video I thought that was a paint pony in the background. Lol
I expect you are very proud of that boy. well done all around
I have a feeling it won't keep the solicitors out.
How does it lock?
Forgot to add the price of the 20oz ribeye you had to get that kid for working til the job was done, haha good for you
How much concrete, how deep , other details?
Just curious if this gate is still holding up?
How’s it holding up?
Links to all the stuff you bought?
How much was the post? Or they was frre or something..??
Is this include installation?
And beautiful too. Can I do it 👩🏻🦳😊. How the material come to 300 ? And work is expensive ,,,,Thanks
Keeps an honest man out
Do you have it in wood as well?
Lol hell yah. I'll tell my son to dig one hole if I dug the other. This way it'll teach him responsibility and be his as well.
Do you have a parts list?
