  • This fun Rainbow mandala is painted using dotting tools.also known as a stylus. Rainbows are an easy way to pick a color combo when you are stuck coming up with colors that go well with one another.
    I am using paints from @decoart Their Americana line has great colors to choose from
    The stone was made from potters plaster using the #3 mold from the Happy Dotting Company

    So glad to see your name pop up this evening. Needed to calm down after a day of watching my grandson’s State Robotics competition. Loved this stone. Really a rather simple design but so effective. I am much calmer now! Thank you!

    Beautiful as always Miranda! Thank you so much for all the info. So what kind of consistency are you looking for so that they wont bleed into each other but you will still be able to manipulate the paint around? Did you add medium to any of the paints?

    • @MirandaPitrone
      @MirandaPitrone  5 років тому +3

      i do not have to add anything to the decoart paints. You want it to be like cake batter...fluid but heavy :)_

    I know your video is a couple years old but I watched it last night after trying to do my first mandala rock earlier in the day. I learned more from you than all the thousand other videos I watched. I like how you steady your hand sometimes with your other hand to dot, how you grab paint from existing dots sometimes and I realized how much paint is needed on the tool by watching you. I dotted much better today & the improvement is remarkable. Thanks very much!!

      It is embarrassing that I am only getting this comment now. I humbly ask your forgiveness in the massively delayed response. It is such an amazing blessing to hear this from someone. I work very hard to put these out and have taken in a lot of feedback to try and help people to learn this art. I like to think of it like Ratatouille...Anyone can paint. They just need to be taught :) I realized that my ability to talk....alot...helps because I can say what I am doing. things you cannot see in the video...like the paint thickness...or the pressure I put on a brush. I sincerely hope this has helped others. Thank you for taking the time to tell me and encourage me onward :)

    Love your stones! Just found your channel! I’ve never seen the instrument you’re using before. Can I get it at a craft store?
    I’ve been asked to paint a pet memorial stone and wonder if you you recommend any type of stones for painting.. can landscape stone be used? Also watched your sealer video an am impressed with the durability of the Liquitex! I’m painting a dog on the stone...first time painting on rocks! Hope to incorporate some designs like yours too!

    • @MirandaPitrone

      thank you!! They are called dotting tools, dotting stylus, dot art tool, nail dotting tool etc. They can be found online at various sites if you google nail dotting tools you should find a bunch.
      Dotting tools here: amzn.to/2D2MEA0
      Landscaping stones should be fine...go for smother stones..they are easier to paint and seal.

      Well, I live on Lake Erie and we have a plethora of stone here and then I travel back home to Maine in the Summers where I collect some to bring back as well from the Atlantic Ocean Coast. However this Stone in particular I made myself from Potters plaster. If you look through my videos I have how to make your own Stones using gypsum in Potters plaster with mold from the happy dotting company
