How to dot paint with Kristin Uhrig - Rangoli Mandala

- This dotting tutorial is based on the colorful designs of Rangoli Sand-Art of India. This amazing, traditional art is made using handfuls of colored chalk, colored rice, or colored sand and then dragging them into symmetrical designs. This design will be a little tough for beginners, but with practice everyone can do it! All tools and paints are listed below.

This is beautiful as usual. I learned a lot about paints, pouring medium, etc. I have all liquid bottle paints and some paint pens but I see why my colors aren’t as vivid and brilliant when dried. Thanks for the lesson in paint dynamics!

Beautiful project! You are are such a GREAT teacher, from your discussion on using a color wheel to the importance of practicing and planning ahead. If my kids had teachers like you I wouldn’t mind distance learning 😉. I also appreciate seeing this technique. I’ve tried the bottles for thicker dots and, let’s just say I’m still learning from every sploogy mess. This method feels more familiar and achievable to me.
