Thank you for this video. There is nothing out there that tells you anything about puffy dots. I have experimented with puffy dots And found the same thing as you with the liquitex gel medium it works great on the thinner paints . I appreciate your time and effort in making this video. Very informative.
Thanks Shelley! I’m going to Blick today to see if there’s any other thickening medium that might work. That pouring medium is so good for thinning paint it’s an easy win 😊
People can also use a airbrush cleaning kit. It comes with the long needle like things on a Keychain and it comes with brushes on a long pen. There's like 6 different sizes of both. They are awesome and they are like 6" long. I love them.
Thanks for adding this! I’ve never used that, but I bet it’s great for cleaning. Another artist suggesting dental cleaning syringes and they also work : )
So so informative especially on the paint consistency and additives❣️❣️❣️❣️ You’ve save me so much time and experimenting on getting the right type of dots❣️ Thank you!!!!!
I' m brand new at this craft, after watching your video I am very excited to get started! I find your teaching method very calming yet exciting at the same time. Your attitude leaves me feeling excited and thinking I can probably do this! So thank you!
I looked into that when I first started using bottles. The problem is fluid paint isn’t the best for dotting with tips and not all 2oz bottles have the same tops.
Wonderful that i found your video by accident. Just what i have been searching for. Want tactile and dimentional dots for interest and beauty. Watched your tape all the way and understood it all as i have been an acrylic artist for 30 yrs. Focus on metallics. I need needles n bottles and some other mediums. Thank you for sharing. Continue to teach me.
This is an absolutely fabulous tutorial! Especially for us beginners (that never even considered attempting to tackle this art form...until about an hour ago 😉) This has been incredibly informative. And the knowledge obtained here, will save hours of experimenting, frustration...and the loss/cost of projects simply by knowing what to expect and/or how to get the desired look and outcome. So happy that I found your channel, and was immensely fortunate that this was the 1st video that I viewed. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! I spent months trying to figure out this puffy dot thing, lol. I'm glad I can pass on what I learned. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
Not that it makes much difference, because I was definitely able to discern what information you were trying to relay...but just as an fyi...the word that best describes what the difference is in the "consistency" that you're trying to convey is "viscosity". Thank you again, for this awesome tutorial!
Wow!!!!! This was a very informative video. I now finally have some answers on how to use additives to my sometimes disappointing paints. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!
I bought the Bottle Set plus 24 extra bottles... Game changer I just ordered a second set this is the one of the best purchases I have made in dotting!!! If you are having trouble making perfect Mandala's I recommend buying this set!
Thank you for this explanation because I don't *really* want to play around, lol, I want to to just get the paint I want with the consistency needed. You've laid it all out here, thank you!!
Hold the phone, Rachel!!!! So I fell in love w/ this art form when I accidently happened upon an ornament video of yours (happy accidents rock), I immediately ordered this kit (from you) and dotting tools (from amazon, ugh mistake). Started using the tools first and have been struggling with figuring out hold and use the tools alone. I felt like a 2nd grader using the tools. Figured I'd never graduate to using the bottles but decided to break them out to just see what the bottles felt like in my hand and HOLY SNOWFLAKES, I might throw the tools away I love the bottles SO much! (just kidding, they make great coffee stirrers)! They make me feel so much more confident designing homemade ornaments for our family homemade Christmas this year. Anyhoo, just wanted to say Thank You, I just adore your videos and have been having so much fun playing artist, bwahaha! Merry Christmas! Keep the informative videos coming, I'm sorta addicted to this art form now and really learn alot from them! Holiday Hugs! Cindy Barker
Hi Cheryl! Holy SNOWFLAKES is right! 😂 You can do so much with bottles. It’s a completely different tool than dotting tools. You can do more delicate, puffy work with the bottles. I’m so glad you love them! Thanks for watching. ✨🎄❤️ Happy Holidays!
I am trying to learn Dotting (or whatever it's called) and have been scouring you tube trying to gather information that I can use in my trek into this unfamiliar craft. Until I stumbled onto your video I was losing hope of finding a detailed tutorial explaining all of the nuances of Dotting. Sure, there are a LOT of videos out there that I was able to get bits and piecds of information from but I wanted one that put it all in one nice little package. I needed a thorough tutorial that explained Dotting from square one and you have done precisely that. Now I have one. Thank you!!
These look wonderful and just what I'm after. Went to the Etsy store to order and the shipping to New Zealand was $34.00 so sadly I wont be getting them. Great Video tho Rachel!
At 22”06, you mention using the heavy body paint straight from the tube. Does you tool attack to the paint tube? I couldn’t see this in the video. Thank you!
Heavy body paint will give you spiked dots, adding some pouring medium will give you the perfect mix. All the paint recipes are included in the kit : )
Awesome tutorial...actually it was a total Masterclass for me!! I've tried my hand a dotting only using the acrylic paints and now i realize why the dots always ended up flat!! Thank you for the nuggets and gems you shared. Now at least I'm well informed if I dare give it another go at it !! 😊
Thank you for your videos! Im learning so much from you. Question: Im wondering how in the heck do you get a heavy body acrylic (with or without pouring medium) into a narrow necked applicator bottle? Is there some trick to it?
Love this video. So helpful after I just bought the bottles from you. It would be so helpful if you would tell us what the number of the tip you are using when demonstrating. Also, wouldn’t it be so much easier if the tops could just screw on the bottles of paint? It would be for me😊
I've never been brave enough to paint terra cotta. I know that some multi-surface paints like FolkArt claim to work on pottery, but I haven't tested that yet. Good luck!
I love puffy paint 🎨 very interesting. I looked on you shop could not find this kit.!!!! I would like to order it I saw another kit but looked nothing like this. Awesome video.
I bought the kit and just got it and faster than expected. Everything was in the kit I am not missing anything. Thank you Rachel, even got a hand written thank you note from Rachel. I loved that amazing touch. I am starting with dotting can’t wait to start “playing with it” lol. Lilliam Sorzano
Hi Lilliam! Thank you for buying the kit. Your support helps this channel so much. You’ll love it! It’s one of my very favorite art supplies ever 💗💗💗✨😊
I am SO excited about learning how to do this. I have a friend who's sister is vision impaired. She has seen (in a limited way) some of my work and was asking how raised the dots are. Well, a bit but not enough for her to really enjoy the layering. So, I thought I'd go on the hunt and see how to start doing "puffy" dots. This video is extremely helpful and I'm looking forward to exploring this facet of dotting.
GREAt VIDEO! Now I know why some dots are flat and others are spiky! I want to order kit. Did you change the included items. 19 tips, 2 bottles, etc. or are there fewer tips now in kit?
You are amazing! You explain things so well, anyone can understand. Thank you for your time. I love Lumeir and jacquard paints also, and am waiting for my supplies to arrive.
Hi 😊 im all new in dotting and this video i just love !! … Love How you really explaine it all and about paint … I wasent shure about what paint i should buy but after this video i now know what brand .. So thank you so much for the help 😁 .. Just sad you dont ship to Denmark 😭 …
Could you put the lid with the tips directly on the deco art paint bottles? For flat dots? Then there's no cleaning the other bottle or waste. Does the lid fit?
No the nozzle cap doesn’t fit. DecoArt has a lid with a tip but the needle is ridiculously long and it’s hard to clean. It’s only for lines, not puffy dots.
Hi Rachel. Can you also do a comparison of Artecho and Meden paints in one of your videos please? I think you can help me compare these brands with Arteza, Decoart and Liquitex paints.
Hi Shruti. While I'd LOVE to be able to test all the paints in the world, I can't afford it. I buy most of the paints I use in my videos, so it can get pricey. Plus, I need to use all these paints up first before I get more. Thanks for watching 💗
Im always mixing different color paints together and a little tip that I came up with when mixing my paints in bottles is to put the smallest iron sinker from your local fishing shop into the bottle and shake. Viola! ❤️
Thank you for this video. There is nothing out there that tells you anything about puffy dots. I have experimented with puffy dots And found the same thing as you with the liquitex gel medium it works great on the thinner paints . I appreciate your time and effort in making this video. What a great video, Rachel!! You answered so many of my questions and made it all fun. Thank you for the time you put into it!!❤❤
Thank you Michele ! 😊 I wanted to make sure I covered as much as I could. I’m glad it can be used as a reference. I’m sooo glad you found it fun 😄
This is a fantastic video lesson. She goes through each paint, tip and cleaning. I recommend watching this whole video for anybody just starting out.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you Rachel for sharing your talent só generously.
You are a top teacher, absoluutly amazing information! Thank you so much. Great job!
Wow thanks! It was actually a blast to make the video. So glad you liked it ❤️
I appreicate this more than you can ever know !
You’re so welcome! I’m glad it’s helpful 😊

If you want to thicken up acrylic paint mix it with corn flour .
Your tutorials are really great! You make it look easy and I suppose it IS, once you know what you’re using and what you’re working with. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s easy to learn dotting if you love it. So many different variations on dots! Very relaxing. ☺️
come faccio ad ordinare questo set? e poi spedite in Italia?
Rachel, I’m in love with the 3D dots. I’ve been looking for it 😍😍😍
I’ll to buy the kit TONIGHT 🥰
Thank you for sharing with us.
You’re amazing 🙏🏻👏🏼
Thank you! You’ll love what this kit can do for your dots. I’m glad you’re excited 😊 Have fun!
So so informative especially on the paint consistency and additives❣️❣️❣️❣️
You’ve save me so much time and experimenting on getting the right type of dots❣️
Thank you!!!!!
My pleasure! Have fun experimenting : )
Please consider making a 6" mold!!!!! The others are great but too small.
I don't sell molds but there are plenty of places online that sell them : )
Hi- does anyone know if the 2 screw top parts that you attach the nibs to will screw onto the 2 oz paint bottles from deco art ? thankyou.
DecoArt makes a screw on tip but it’s impossible to clean and the needle is too long. And there’s only one size. I tried it but I don’t like it.
I' m brand new at this craft, after watching your video I am very excited to get started! I find your teaching method very calming yet exciting at the same time. Your attitude leaves me feeling excited and thinking I can probably do this! So thank you!
I’m so excited that you’re excited! Have fun 🤩
It would be nice if the lids fit on a regular 2oz acrylic paint bottle
I looked into that when I first started using bottles. The problem is fluid paint isn’t the best for dotting with tips and not all 2oz bottles have the same tops.
Excellent and so informative!
Thanks Kristin! 💕
Perfect detailed , informative tutorial. AWESOME!!! Thank you Vera much. I enjoyed it immensely.
Thank you Del!

Where can I buy those little bottles with applicator? Thanks

You have covered everything I’ve ever wondered about dot making
I have been dotting for 5 years and your ideas for raised dots are wonderful.
Thank you!😊
Thank you. I just got your bottles and am in learning mode.
Ooooh have fun! I’m excited for you to get started. 😊
Wow!!!!! This was a very informative video. I now finally have some answers on how to use additives to my sometimes disappointing paints. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!

Hello Rachel I cant find you on etsy
Here's the link to my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/thedottingcenter

These look wonderful and just what I'm after. Went to the Etsy store to order and the shipping to New Zealand was $34.00 so sadly I wont be getting them. Great Video tho Rachel!
It is expensive to ship to NZ from USA no doubt about it. Glad you found the video helpful 😊
I've been struggling with puffy dots and so relieved to watch your video . Thank you!
I hope this video helps 😊 Thanks for watching!
Love these tools, Rachel….thank you so much!💕
You are so welcome!
Murphy's Oil Soap is the best for cleaning up acrylic paint. No damage to the plastic parts.
I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for the tip 😜
Such a well laid out video! Love the topics outline and time markers at the beginning. Very professional!!
Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your videos! Im learning so much from you. Question: Im wondering how in the heck do you get a heavy body acrylic (with or without pouring medium) into a narrow necked applicator bottle? Is there some trick to it?
You can just squeeze it into the bottle. The bottles I sell have a wide opening so it’s easy.
Love this video. So helpful after I just bought the bottles from you. It would be so helpful if you would tell us what the number of the tip you are using when demonstrating. Also, wouldn’t it be so much easier if the tops could just screw on the bottles of paint? It would be for me😊
The thick paint used the #16 tip. It would be great if commercial bottles all had the same threaded top, but they don’t.
I have some liquatex acrylic paint. Can I use them on terracota providing I will put a sealer before and after painting? Thank you.

I've had several people ask about this for making braille signs. I bet it would work! Thanks for your comment.
Peccato che non ci sono i sottotitoli in italiano.. ciao da Udine- Nord Italia- Gianna
How do you get get all that plump, all that plump inside that bump? 👍✨💖
😂😂😂That one got me good. (dying laughing) 😂😂😂That should have been the video title.
Hi, can you use pouring medium with heavy body acrylics, in order to get the acrylic more like a pouring texture, too make flat dots?
Yes, I like Liquitex pouring medium the best😊
when are you going to make your products available to New Zealand?
NZ currently isn’t accepting USPS packages due to postal closures. As soon as they reopen, I’ll start shipping again. Thank you for your patience 😊
You are Amazing....!!! Thank you so very Much...!!!
You are! Thank you : )
Do you ship to Ireland? Also, you sound like Britney Spears. X
Yes, I do ship to Ireland…and the Britney Spears voice is a new one 😂 Thanks for the laugh.
You are fabulous. Thank you for all the expenations. Hallo from Greece
You are so welcome!
Hi Rachel- I have found that its super easy to clean the tips with my Sonic water pick using hot water. ; )
Great idea!!
Now i tried to put thicker paint in my little botle and it was just not working. How are you doing that please!
If the paint is too thick you’ll need to thin it down with some added pouring medium 👍
GREAt VIDEO! Now I know why some dots are flat and others are spiky! I want to order kit. Did you change the included items. 19 tips, 2 bottles, etc. or are there fewer tips now in kit?
Nail polish remover will probably dissolve the paint better but I don’t know it it would mess up the plastic on the tips
Yeah, acetone might melt the plastic so that’s a concern. I mostly use water for everything.
WOW !!! this is amazing video ! thank you very much :)
Glad you liked it!
Awesome.. Thanks a looooot for the precise tutorial
Can I use mod podge instead of the medium
I don't think Mod Podge would work as well.
You are amazing! You explain things so well, anyone can understand. Thank you for your time. I love Lumeir and jacquard paints also, and am waiting for my supplies to arrive.
Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks , you explain very well and I understand ❤
Rachel in the kit only 3 bottles, there is not enough!!!! Do you sell them separatly? Thank you
There are 2 bottles in the kit but you can buy extra bottles in the listing options 👍✨
Hi 😊 im all new in dotting and this video i just love !! … Love How you really explaine it all and about paint … I wasent shure about what paint i should buy but after this video i now know what brand .. So thank you so much for the help 😁 ..
Just sad you dont ship to Denmark 😭 …
I loved this video! Learned so much. Can't wait to get started.😊
Awesome! Thank you!😊

No the nozzle cap doesn’t fit. DecoArt has a lid with a tip but the needle is ridiculously long and it’s hard to clean. It’s only for lines, not puffy dots.
Thank you sweetheart for sharing this movie, you are good teacher
Thanks for watching 💞
Thanks for your reply.
Intuyo que son unos tipos muy útiles... Pero podrías haberlo traducido al español. Un saludo desde España
I just love your videos! You are so informative. Please keep it up.
Thank you so much!
Awesome video 👌
Thanks Fran! ❤️
This is exactly what I needed. It has been so disappointing when dots go flat!
Yay! So glad you found it helpful.
Would the heavy body paint be better for outlining?
If you like a thick line than heavy body paint would be best 👍
@@TheDottingCenter understandable. Thanks for replying. :D
Im always mixing different color paints together and a little tip that I came up with when mixing my paints in bottles is to put the smallest iron sinker from your local fishing shop into the bottle and shake. Viola! ❤️
I love that idea! Someone recommended ball bearings. Such a great recommendation. Thank you!
Brilliant!
Thank you so much! Wonderful video!
Glad it was helpful!
This is the best tutorial! Thank you. Immensely helpful. Candy dots coming right up!
Yes! It’s like those candy dots 😆 Thanks for watching!
Also, I checked your bottle kit out, and plan to order it, but do you also offer just the bottles also?
Yes, extra bottles are in the variable options for the listing. You can buy in sets of 4 or 8. 💞
I am a beginner can uh plzzz tell meh how only the dots last on bottles and if there is any way to make them permanent??
For glass bottles you need to use a special multi surface paint that adheres to glass. Some you have to bake to make them permanent. 👍
I have trouble with using glue in bottles tips. Would the alcohol help with that also?
I don't know? I've never used glue in these before. I would be too nervous that it would make an unclearable clog.
Excellent video! Thank you!
You are welcome!
The gel part fed me.thank u for all your efforts in play and share...
My pleasure 😊
Where can we get more bottles without having to buy an entire kit?
In the kit listing options choose the “bottles only” option 👍
How much are you selling the kit for? Where can I go to order?
The 24 piece kit is $12.99 with options to buy extra bottle sets thedottingcenter.com/product/paint-applicator-bottles-for-3d-dots-paint-bottle-set/
Thank you so much for making this video!
My pleasure 😊
Your voice it's so 😴😴
Game changer!!🙌🙌
Omg♡
I know, right?! ❤️
how can I buy the tips? can you give me the link?

Ty Rachel..very helpful info!!
Hi Cindy! Thanks for watching 💕
This video is priceless!!! Thank you soooo much!
You are so welcome!
yes i think it would look cool
When will you have the kit restocked in your Etsy store?
This week new bottle kits will be restocked. Thank you 😊
So much information, it was worth watching, thank you
Thanks for watching!
This is sooooooo amazing.
hello How do I get this kit if I live in Costa Rica It is interesting Thank you
www.etsy.com/shop/thedottingcenter/
What is the function of Pouring Medinm?
Liquitex pouring medium will thin out thick paint without degrading the quality of the acrylic paint like water would. Plus it’s super shiny ✨😊
I had actually forgotten I had those bottles.
😂
Just an idea put a ball bearing in the bottle when mixing the paint like what is in nail varnish
Yes! That could definitely work. Thank you for sharing.
Loved this video ..thank you ..will keep referring to it
Where do you get the molds to make the urchin design?
I have an old soap mold. I used to make soap : )
