Have had my XE 35t for almost 4 years now. Still yet to encounter any major issues. Car has been serviced at regular intervals on an annual basis and still runs as good as new. Nothing rides and handles this better in this segment.
Been running my new XE for seven months now. Lovely thing, nicest driving car I've ever owned. And so many people come up to it when stopped and tell me what a beautiful car it is.
Good balanced presentation of what seems to be a good car for the 2020's.Thankyou for keeping it simple for future buyers.

'If you are over 6 foot you might feel short of headroom'. I'm 5'7" and my head is touching the roof in a 3 series.
A fair review, consistent with others I’ve read. To me the XE comes across as a car guy's car. It’s not flashy or pretentious, but is equipped with an exceptionally sophisticated suspension that gives the best balance of handling and ride in this very competitive segment. If you're a genuine motor head, the experience of driving a car - its responsiveness and road feel - are its most important attributes. Yes, the interior is a bit drab, but better understated than Tokyo-by-night cheesy. In the end what we've got here is an affordable, practical Jaguar, with that brand's unique combination of driving pleasure and sex appeal. What more could a car guy ask for? Since you ask, how about the F-Type's six-speed manual transmission?
Definitely a Drivers car. I have a 2017 First Edition AWD with the 3.0 SC Engine. Very responsive but very Thirsty (a welcomed Sacrifice). Fun car to Drive
Jag is the new King of the road, bye bye German trio!
And also the king of the workshop.
+Viking Power
on handling only, the engine power are very weak compare to the German's.
+Viking Power Not quite. The Brits had over 10 Years for this and it has almost 7-8 cm less rear legroom than the Germans. Just looking great is not good enough anymore, just see the Maserati ghibli.
Ive tested them out (for the leg space) - it even struggles over the BMW 4 Gran coupe!? And thats the freakin Gran coupe!
Also: new XE = £24000
Appoved used Gran Coupe = £24500
This all matters. A lot.
Not like indian cars then?Sorry Tata own JLR, but have zero influence on the design, engineering or manufacture.
The engines are not weak but tuned to an emissions standard?3.0 V6 Supercharged Petrol, smokes the germans 3.0's wit laggy turbos! XF 0-60 5.7 seconds. (I have one!)SVR's and P7's smoke AMG's and M's in terms of handling and close enough as makes no difference in outright performance but infinitely more sporty experience to drive than the competition. The Brits are here now with a credible performer in the market, let's hope the British become as Patriotic car buyers as the Germans, Italians and Americans.Jags finally rule, get used to it!
Brand new Jag. Engine light on. Not surprised.
not too keen on the rear end, the front is actually ok
Wonderful review 👌🏻
i love ur review so much
really2 nice
Daddy's car is a Jaguar ...enough said !
i have the r-sport 2.0 180ps on order in white... counting the weeks
Daniel Harper so how has been your experience so far?
I am buying it
i think this will compete more with the new alfa giulia then with the german trio
It's a jaaaaaaag
Is there going to be an XE-R, with a supercharged V8?
+AM-V8 yes there is but not for a bit,
Project 8 :)
if you take off the jag logo it looks a lot like a 2017 accord...but with less leg room, no rear view camera on the base model, but a bit more refinement inside and a more powerful engine, better handling and suspension I'm sure. Honda accord touring has better 0 to 60 times at around 5.8 seconds!
XE 0-60 is 4.5 sooooooooooo not sure how 5.8 is better.
Love mine.
Great car!
I will admit that, while still nice, the design of the interior doesn't exactly knock my socks off...It's a little plain imo. That being said, I'm not sure how the host justifies his comment about the interior quality not stacking up against the competition. The 3 series BMW has gotten slashed MANY times by car enthusiasts for their usage of cheap plastic-y materials littered everywhere in the interior and the hard leather seats. Plush isn't even a word with most 3 series interiors. Call me crazy, but quality wise, I'll take the XE any day over the 3 series interior.
Aaron Moses Agreed. Since its inception and continuing to this day, I’ve been mildly shocked by the 3-series cost-cutting interior. Hard plastics and chintzy details abound. And it’s not like the car is bargain priced. At least the original 3-series were driver's cars. That is no longer the case. Current models are soft and devoid of road feel through the steering or suspension. They are expensive commuter cars for know-nothings who think the BMW badge will give them higher status in the Safeway parking lot.
And Audi... Just boring and looks more like a VW.. only the c class has it better than the XE.
But I'll stick with my XE p250
mb c class
go fourth and rule the roads :)
It looks like Audi A4
Looks like an a5 with xf lights installed.
+Peter Low Thats high praise. Imo, it even looks a little better because the A5 still has a slightly sloping front grille that makes it look a little dated (lik bentleys).
+netweed09 agreed the front is better but that rear is terrible haha. I reckon they could've spent a little more time designing the rear.
i prefer it over the German cars but in the end i went for the 2012 3series simply because at the point it was £15000 cheaper!! I couldn't ignore the idrive and more rear space + it doesn't look at all like the lizard the 2006 model did.
XF looks better
love it
Just buy an XF!
Peter Rabbit
all bark no bite which is a shame. get in one and you feel like you are in a ford...PLASTIC AND CHEAP (no offence to ford). try using the infotainment when stationary and you will think its sh*t, then try it on the go and you will just give up. on my test drive got 34 mpg, nowhere near the mpg of the bmw or audi. it feels properly slower and unrefined in comparison too.
It finally looks Beautiful and timeless and has a Front-facing grill but what's finally? Well over 10 Years. The car for this crazy delay over the 2012 BMW will never outsell rivals in time and actually is terrible other than the exterior, the interior falls well short, for a decade you'd expect to be blown away by fine lines and bespoke trims but even a Skoda superb is more pleasant to sit in!
And to bring it all to the worst crime of all, the rear is awful compared to the far less expensive German cars. There's freakin 8cm less room back there!!
Apart from the pull factor exterior, it's total pee pee imo. All for a cute £25000. Lol.
I mean, family would buy it in a sec if it were 'Standardised' to proportion but embarrassed by a ford Mondeo with children and adult at the back having little/no legsqueeze, wtf??! No thanks!
Meh still, all the Brits'll buy it on a 1-1 basis like it's a TV or something, so that's about 10 million or so guaranteed lol.
+netweed09 This is not timeless design at all (you will see that in 10 years). X type is timeless. That car looks better than XE even today.
What?? lol, tell that to all the Pro-reviewers out there
plus those bulging sales figures,,, the XE will live long in the memory - in fact, the amazing F-type is already inspired by it!!
It looks so bad from the back . . .
+Youssef Hossam If only they kept the F type design
+Youssef Hossam I disagree, but I'd hate to think what you'd think if you went *inside* the back (rear) of the car!
