It's the XE for me. I was all set on a BMW 335i, but I just drove an XF today (because they didn't have an XE in stock) and I really liked it a lot more than BMW! It did indeed ride smoother, yet sharper and more precise. I did not feel like the cabin was cheaply made at all. Unless there's a significant difference between the XF and XE (there isn't in pictures), I can't understand their complaints with the interior. I actually liked it significantly better than the BMW's. The BMW interior just doesn't seem anything special to me. I've never cared for Merc anything because their interiors are way to busy and....fiddly. For me, it's hands-down Jaguar.
+Kcducttaper1 there is an awful lot of difference in build quality between xf and xe, i'd suggest you to rent both xe and 3 series and decide for yourself. On Base model, 3 series would give you nothing, only if you add money and get some options in interior then you can say boy its hot car, otherwise fairly your choice.
Have you actually been in both an XE and an XF?!? If it weren't for the difference in size you wouldn't be able to tell the difference - absolutely no different in build quality.
Just bought a BMW LCI 320d sports package yesterday. absolutely love the looks of the 19 inch sports rims and its body, drives comfortably in Eco pro but in sports plus mode its personality changes so much. Feels much quicker than the specs would say!
Out of that list there are 2 the S8 and 7 which are luxury/premium sedans but a lower level then Merc and Jag. People like to bash jaguar cuz they just don't like them. I actually tested and compared the wood/leather quality on the 7, S class , A8 and XJ.
Jaguar looks very good, they don't have anymore that ridiculous "long live British Empire" style, but it is modern car that can successfully compete with BMW and Mercedes.
+Bwause83 Were you high when you wrote that comment? They look nothing like each other....All the BMW's look the same. It's the same story with the Mercedes. The Jag's look similar, but you can tell them apart distinctively.
I never considered Jaguar. I was in torment trying to decide whether to buy the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or the BMW 3 Series. I have driven both of them and I loved both of them. In all agony in deciding, I finally settled the matter and bought the MB C300 and I’ve been happy ever since. 👍❤️
3 months ago, after watching a stock pile of reviews, I went out and picked a BMW 320d M sport. What I can say after 3 month daily ride is this car is simply perfect. I never get tired or bored behind the wheel and its gearbox is a feat of engineering as you barely notice a gear shift. Also, the engine gives enough power to satisfy me on British roads with strict speed limit rules. Nice car Beem!
Gone from the E bmws and had the F for 12 months.. After 6 months of owning a jaguar it's better and I think you should have gone with the emotional choice which we know was the Jaguar 💯
I personally would buy the Jag because it's most interesting car out of these 3 in my opinion but this is always more emotional than rational decision and the differences are really small.
Agree with Chadwick...the xe is brand new and to come so close (in some reviews succeeding) to knocking the 3 series off the podium is some achievement!
Agreed, the Merc's cabin is gorgeous, but I'd take the Jag interior over the BMW all day long. The 3 series may feel solid inside, but it's always looked so bare and uninspiring to me. After test driving them both, the Jag's large, integrated touch screen and f-type accents from steering wheel to dials looked so much classier and luxurious.
+Craig Rees Nice thing about a BMW is always the driving position. Seat adjustments, distance to the wheel, the instruments, it all 'feels right'. The car melts around you as a driver, and lets you use it to its full potential. Could you confirm the Jag has the same feeling? Eager to try it out...
+MPC007 GAMING For me, a truly great driving position was quickly achievable in both and they felt solid and really planted. What I preferred about the jag was a greater sense if luxury with it. Definitely worth a spin!
I agree with @Philip S Just get the damn car that you like, and touches your heart. If you are an actual car enthusiast like me, you won't get the car that is fastest or most luxurious but the car that you like, is very good and the car that makes you feel good...
elitestar in what country? that clearly has to be in few parts of Europe. For the rest of the world no car is any where as common as the Toyota corrolla and camry. They r the highest selling cars globally by a mile. The 3 series is one of the highest selling compact luxury cars in the world. There's a difference between them
Agreed. I have just traded in my 3 series (11 plate) for the 16 plate Jag, and I absolutely adore it. It makes the BMW interior look so dated and bland.
Yours are the kind of videos that I give a Thumbs Up to, before I even start watching. Another one well done! Also, Mr. Quirk it's great to see you in a car rather than a bike, but I do love those motorcycle videos. The more the merrier!
For me, it's the XE. That said, I am a Jaguar fan, and have owned an S-Type, an XF-S and an XJ R-Sport, and all have been reliable and exhilarating to own and drive. I have never owned a BMW, but have owned various Mercedes models, from a CLK to a CLS, and while they're all good and well equipped, they can be boring in terms of styling. Other than the obvious measures of: reliability, style and cost, I always think - How does driving a specific car make me feel?; similar to the way you feel about any new home you are looking for, and for me, the XE is that car in this category. The 3 Series is just too common (which may be a back-handed compliment), and I do not like the interior, or 'boy racer' image! The C-Class is just dull, although well equipped. In terms of style, image and the handling, it's the XE all the way!
I really like my 2017 Jaguar XE R-Sport however, the InControl Touch Pro system is very erratic and often plagued with computer hardware and software problems. The base model is far superior and has fewer issues.
just love it... effortless power delivery from low revs... musical... very secure car...light sensation... flies... very musical,,,, had 320d for years... and will never change model...lots of fun... just has perfect equilibrium... i find it somehow safer than the rest...
Soooo... The Merc delivers the best economy in the actual drive, but you guys rate it least efficient in the scoring at the end!? Did BMW threaten to not pay your expenses or something?
Honestly having driven the three the Jag has the best interior, the leather is absolutely everywhere where as the other cars are mostly made of plastic
I can comfortably agree owning two out thr three cars here! Having preciously owned a C class and a 3 series, have a family member that owns that jag, 3 series is simply the best all around and no beating it. Great review
The Jaguar is just something special for me. The 3 series and the C class is just littered around every corner, and just makes them loose that specialty...Yes they may have a point on the general quality, the BMW is solid inside, but as others said ,it just looks the same, in my opinion boring whilst lacking that touch of elegance. The Jaguar's interior is just clean and yet still so stylish, for me I am not even bothered about the piano black plastic, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I've driven the 20d 180 PS RWD model with the 8 speed auto, and I didn't find any faults with it. Also managed to get 66 mpg on the cruise, one off tests like these will not provide proper results...I'd take the Jag, just for the name and the prestige it gets you! Also let us not forget that the Jag is by far the best looking of the three.
If I have a choice then I definitely go for BMW for it's driving dynamic, but I love jaguar for it's simple elegant design. It is too late to comment because it's 2020 and know compare to 3series, jaguar look gorgeous, BMW just looks awkward at rear in most of the 2020 models
MPC007 GAMING Prove it... Oh right you can't, no one can and I'm for one are glad these souless and dull cars VW makes are found out to be nothing but a fraud, before you start I will say I've driven and owned plenty of cars made by VAG and they're all just so lame and fake, they're not as technically as advanced as Toyota, (no wonder they didn't want to go the Hydrogen fuel cell route), their luxury cars are never as refined or comfortable as Mercedes, their sports cars are never as good or fun to drive as the likes of BMW, they take over brands and ruin them by making them clinical and cold, fuel consumption wise they never match the best either, now we all know they haven't got the technology to make more fuel efficient cars as the other manufacturers, and ethically they rather destroy the planet on false pretences, VW are the modern day Nazi it's good to see them being halted, sure to teach them a lesson.
Will get back to you as soon as more test results will come in. You will owe me something then. Power of VW is not being good in one particular region, but overall very usable. Ask car journalists.
MPC007 GAMING Sure we'll see and you owe me something when most of the other manufacturers don't have this CHEAT device... As for car journalists well the balance is there and no one manufacturer hold a clear lead.
+TheChamp 101 I am very well sure that other manufacturers own such devices as well and only with a child logic you can believe that the VW Group is so backwards on technology (after the new Q7) compared to the rivals that it has to resort to such practices... The margin between the paper values and reality has become so high with the Euro 6 norm that I believe it is becoming technically impossible for an ordinary diesel that's affordable to fulfill them. Only way forwards if we keep this eco-dictate is the hybrid/electric powertrain, which is still expensive and not ready.
Not sure I agree when you guys @Auto Trader say you "matched" them spec for spec. The - only - complaint is the Mercedes is the slowest here, but it's half a liter capacity and 30-odd horse powers down. The 220 would negate most of your complaints (all four would have roughly the same cubic capacity and have auto's) and the Mercedes would be the fastest. For eco-diesels, I believe handling is a bit overweighted.
+Bill Dexhart The reason we picked the Mercedes 200 is because it’s the cleanest version of the C-Class - and we choose the most efficient diesel version of all three cars in the test. That engine is also the quietest in the Mercedes range, which helps improve refinement. We’ve driven the C220 before, and with that engine the C-Class is considerably more expensive that the BMW. We had to balance these factors when choosing which engine to go for, but as we do mention in the video, the performance was not really a factor in its coming third - whereas the handling was.
Auto Trader I thank you for the explanation. However, I stick to my beliefs that I believe handling is a bit overweighted. You have an additional subscriber nonetheless.
+You Tube The emissions sensor was slightly faulty which put it into limp home mode. Turning the car off and on again seemed to work but the engine light remained on.
+Auto Trader My 2006 Jaguar S-Type R do this 3 times a year, I guess Jaguar still have not fix this problem yet. The light stay on for 1 to 3 days depending on how many miles you drive.
A cross section of all reviews on the net and in the press come to the same conclusion. That the Jag is clearly the best car in this sector but let down by inferior quality interior. So the choice would appear to be,if you want the best driving machine go for the Jag,if you want the nice interior go for the Merc,if you want a car that is a compromise between the two go for the BMW.
Please drive the 320d, sport or m sport, with bigger wheels, m sport adaptive suspension, and NO servotronic and NO variable sport steering before concluding that the Jag XE is a better driver's car than the BMW
+Adrian Chua Q.Y. The car we drove was on adaptive suspension, which we mention in the video. We've also driven the car on M Sport wheels and tyres, and there is definitely more grip, but that does also push the emissions well over the Jaguar's and the Audi's. Agree with you about the Servotronic, but all the cars on the launch were fitted with it, unfortunately.
Honestly I would take the merc as we've had one before but I've been in both the jag and bmw and I prefer the merc. This test was a little unfair as the merc was a manual and the others were auto, also the merc was kinda a baseline model as the other 2 were higher in the range.
I had a 2010 model Jag XF Premium Lux 3ltr TD, 240 bhp and loved it until someone rammed in the back and wrote it off. My insurance gave me a 3 series M Sport 2ltr petrol, brand new at the time 2018 model. Absolutely hated it from the start. Harsh ride, no refinement and felt common as every other car on the road was a BMW and all looked the same. Couldn't wait to get a replacement Jag XF, this time a Portfolio S model with 275bhp, back in love with my car! Jag every time for me.
I own a bmw 320d, 2013 manual. I am a bit shocked to see the mpg figures in this video. I do not get less than 57 mpg on a long run driving at 75-80 mph... It is an extremely economic car for the power you get!
Very good and comprehensive review. Good job, Auto Trader crew. One thing though; I've read the 3-series Efficient Dynamics models (like the one tested here) don't ride or handle quite as well as the standard 3-series models , mainly due to their reduced rolling resistance tyres which help economy. So, I wonder how a standard 3-series (with normal tyres) would've fared ride/handling wise.
In the long run, mercedes benz c claas have proven that it is a better car if you compare the three cars today the merc looks newer and it is more safe to be in it loce MB
Jaguar>Mercedes>BMW BMW is Too Old and the interior looks 10 year out of date and low running cost LOL Its a BMW if the Simplest of components goes wrong they cost an arm and a leg. Mercedes and the Jag are way better they both look upmarket the Mercedes has the best interior and Jag is the best looking and drives the best.
The Mercedes nav looks worst than the one I had in my 2011 c class... And those shinny piano interior look good for a few month, after that they are cover with scratches
Had a Mercedes c220 sport Bluetec for over a year now and have to say it's a brilliant all round car. I previously had a BMW 3 series which was involved in a crash with a drunk driver and was subsequently written off. Of the two cars, I must say the BMW was by a huge margin better fun to drive, whereas the Mercedes is a far better place to sit in. That said, I miss the BMW for the sheer madness and fun it provided. I cannot fault the Mercedes, but it feels a little staid and sober compared to the BMW, which is more of a reflection on my personality and driving style than any shortcoming of the car.
for the jaguar xe to come second in this review is outstanding. it's a brand new car with a brand new engine. within 18 months jaguar will dominate this class.
+Chadwick 1991 Putting the effort into the chassis has to be the most important part of the puzzle. The chassis is the part of the car that changes least frequently. Drive trains are swapped out and interiors are changed like underwear. Jaguar have the best foundation.
+Chadwick 1991 I'd definitely go for the Jag. It's also statement to drive this car instead of the 'safe and easy options'. Two years back, it would be the BMW without doubt. But now, the XE looks great, drives great, and leaves the best impression. It 'd be really nice to pick this car 2nd handed up in ten years. I bet it will still kick ass.
+Chadwick 1991 The fact that the Jaguar has come second place doesn't bode too well, an all new car such as the XE should of come number one instantly, however the oldest car of the group came first. Once the new A4 is released it'll be back to the usual debate, A4 vs 3 Series vs C Class and the XE will be forgotten about. XE is just too bland, the interior is boring and the cars exterior looks dull, especially from the rear. Some would say XE is a failure.
308 ALLURE HDI no one with any sort of sense would ever say the XE is a failure. And the audi a4 has never ever been up with the 3 series. It's never been good enough.
It was always about the three German compact executives lol.. XE should have come number one in this test, most modern design and the most modern engines. To be honest I am surprised it even came second place lol
I sat at the rear of the 3 series, and the Xe and its identical head & legroom (I am 5ft11 inches), so the reporter is talking rubbish saying the 3 series has more room.
+Martin Relsted V60 D4, great suggestion. It would probably score great on price, efficiency, interior and seat quality, and drivetrain performance. It would lose on prestige, interior space, and handling.
This test wasn`t really fair for Mercedes because you used a 200 d model with 1.6 liter engine. I really think that the "engine rival" for BMW 320d is the 220 model with a 2.15 liter engine.
A very good comparison, that is. Small question, from which country is the BMW's license plate? And what usually plates without the left blue bar mean?
The Jaguar is the most elegant although hesitant with 8 speed auto and limited boot space. The 3 series is as common as a Ford Escort back in the day. I wouldn’t go for the Merc as it has a Renault 1.6 engine! So Jaguar wins!
Me personally, i am a MLB guy on my last two purchases. But only the ML's, and the CLK coupe for speed, i just test driven a 2015 bmw 320i. And I'm never going back, Jags. to me are when i retire. I'm to young to be interested. and i never test driven one. this bmw i got, the grill make the car look like a mean machine, top of the line for a cheap price. It has a four door but drive like a coupe, i could not tell this car is a 4 cylinder. after just driving a clk coupe v6. today was the first day it rained sense i got the bmw, and i put it to the test. the handling was amazing, listen the bmw is really the ultimate driving experience. hands down.
The Jag is by far the most stylish and modern. British buyers are fast becoming people who like to have something different and the c class and 3 series just aren't good looking any more. However, if you are talking about cruising on the motorway, go out and buy a 6/7 year old Saab 9-5. It is by far the most comfortable car to travel in on the motorway- it has the best seats ever made and the ride is sublime on the motorway. Nothing will come close to matching it
With that rear lamps the Jaguar is not near to be stylish. Out of them I find the BMW the most beautiful by far, second the Mercedes and then the Jaguar.
Well, another relative comparison. From my point of view, sales reflect better which one is more desirable and that is C Class for UK now. And I would agree that overall is a little bit better than 3 Series and XE as a complete package.
After watching 1:42 sec of the video, I saw something that I have always wondered. How can BMW cars, in almost all cases, be the once that have the most power/ the best 0-60 time and still have the best MPG compered to cars with similar engines?
+Xzizia92 Because they have superior engineering. They spend more money for engines R&D than other brands, because they know their brand image depends on it.
+SWR012 Well I'm not talking about reliability. Just saying that they spend a lot of money on engines, and that it shows when you look at their performances. But as any other brands they make mistakes, and I think they make more mistakes nowadays than they made before. Anyway, driving a BMW is so fun that they would have to do a lot of things wrong to lose their clients.
While some companies focus more on reliability and luxury, like Mercedes, BMW focuses on getting the most power, utilizing it efficiently for better gas mileage, and being able to use that power properly for maximum performance. That's why BMWs are known for their ride quality, not luxury.
Sachin Nair Quality? thanks! you made my day. As I explained before, thousands of BMW engines have their 2nd turbocharger, or respectively an entire engine damage thanks to a jumped timing chain. If you take a look on the interior of the BMW 3 series and below, any Skoda will beat them in terms of interior trim, surface feel... :-)
Great review, I think that they are very similar, but I wonder about the reliability , safety, cost of maintenance and resale value when deciding what car to buy. Can you include those categories in future reviews?
I purchased a new BMW in 2013 in Portugal that this 2017 /2018 winter put water in the suitcase and destroyed various electrical systems due to a defect in fence, besides having put in question my safety and my family. The BMW dealer in Portugal, Caetano Retail of V.N.Gaia assumes no liability despite all the revisions being made religiously in the mark and the problem is notoriously a manufacturing defect. I intend to solve the problem according to the premium service with which I have always been accustomed by BMW.
Interesting opinion on the Mercedes' transmission. I have been driving manuals for 24 years and I thought it was the worst clutch and shifter combination of any vehicle I've ever driven.
They gave me the Jag XE has a loner . I have 2011 XJ Super Sport for yearly check. Its a great little car. Interior a little better then the German ones but not close to XJ.I live in the Mts and ran it up and down the roads.Jaguar has a real hit on there hands and they are not a dime a dozen like the Germans.
Well the Jag has not aged well Jaguar XE reliability The Jaguar XE was rated 71st out of the top 100 cars in our 2019 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, with a fairly poor result for reliability, and failed to appear in our 2020 survey.
The merc is the most desirable to me of these three. I think the new a4 will be better than all three judging by early reviews, but as soon as there's a group review again it'll be the three seriezzzzzz that wins as usual.
He says that the Merc out specs the others in interior spec, then later say's that the Jag does not surpass the Merc in interior spec!. I have to say from my experience that the Merc does NOT surpass the the Jag in interior spec!
Nice video. Interesting to see that some car journalists still pick the 3-series as best overall in class, and some the new C-class. The Jaguar never seems to be a real number one, just a very interesting and serieus contender.
Equally specced? C-class has a manual instead of paddle shift automatic, and Jaguar has the optional R-sport pack whilst both the Merc and BMW don't have their sport packages.
It's all about loyalty i believe.I wouldn't buy a brand new mercedes C class just because it looks better than a bmw,i wouldn't feel happy.I would rather buy a jaguar just because i'm living in England. But, like i said, i like to be loyal. Bmw it's a strong name!
Good review. I’ve owned all the fast ones but I’ll stick with the m3. C63 was a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, the m3 was like a scalpel. Surgical in whatever it did. Jag had character but poor interior....however the new jag is better in the interior quality so I may give it another shot.
I don't agree that all cars in this segment need to be sporty. I for one prefers a more comfortable ride than a sporty one. But I do like them to look stylish. My money goes to the XE.
It's the XE for me. I was all set on a BMW 335i, but I just drove an XF today (because they didn't have an XE in stock) and I really liked it a lot more than BMW! I'm a BMW fan but I'd get the Jag all day, everyday.
Congratulations, your a Jaguar fan not and not BMW fan anymore…😂
If you get the jag you are going to need another car
They don’t always work, not everyday
sorry but the jags interior is good aweful and the back looks ugly
Premium cars aren't famed for reliability... but wasn't this generation of Jaguar proven to be amongst the least reliable in this segment?
This didn’t age well at all haha
Just bought a BMW LCI 320d sports package yesterday. absolutely love the looks of the 19 inch sports rims and its body, drives comfortably in Eco pro but in sports plus mode its personality changes so much. Feels much quicker than the specs would say!
I normally hate Mercs but goddamn this new C is simply stunning.
The level to compare has changed into this list:
- Jaguar XE
- Mercedes C Class
- Lexus IS
- Bmw 3 series
- Audi A4
- Volkswagon Passat
- Volvo S60
+$ Cash $ Money $ Hero $ Passat? no just no
+Im Not Creative yes just yes. Skoda better looks than 3 series. Yes yes yes
+Im Not Creative money doesn't matter it still can be in the same category
Volkswagen is not a premium car, even the name implies it. Don't know how Audi and BMW do either.
+Eki Rasevic We've been without that since 1945!
+Eki Rasevic "ridiculous long live british empire style"? now it looks like a fucking mazda or hyundai.
+Bwause83 Were you high when you wrote that comment? They look nothing like each other....All the BMW's look the same. It's the same story with the Mercedes. The Jag's look similar, but you can tell them apart distinctively.
+Ewacool they look boring, thats it. the style is gone, know they look like the rest on the market, like audis or mazdas, boring as hell.
But you could say that about the Mercedes and BMWs as well because they've gone done the same thing ie making cars look the same.
The jaguar xe is amaaaazing

I see the interior of all car by my self .and I like the Jaguar interior most and it is way more premium than old dady BMW 320
With Toyota central screen?
I love the Jaguar and BMW. The Merc looks like something my granny would enjoy!
Mercedes for old aged people...😂😂😂
Your dp is Merc
😂 😂 😂 😂 Uuuu
Lmao
I personally would buy the Jag because it's most interesting car out of these 3 in my opinion but this is always more emotional than rational decision and the differences are really small.
Great video, a truly decent review which tells British drivers pretty much what they want to know. More please!
+Raja Rahman have you seen the Hot Hatch test? ua-cam.com/video/HhnyQHRoeao/v-deo.html
Agree with Chadwick...the xe is brand new and to come so close (in some reviews succeeding) to knocking the 3 series off the podium is some achievement!

So true.
I ended up buying a Mercedes C class. For so far I love it. Made some video's about it. Have a look. Hope you like it.
+MercBenzKing ...so, 'MercBenzKing' opted for the Mercedes ? ... Well, I'm flabberghasted.
As a German, I prefer the Jaguar XE
it is not mental to compare 1.6 mercedes and 2.0 bmw
They were comparing the most efficient Diesel engines of the cars, so it's Mercedes fault for not making a bigger engine as efficient
+Russell that sounds so childish lol
Arj and you sound like a Mercedes fan boy ;)
+Russell and you sound like a bmw fan boy:)
A Doruk na, im a jaaag guy
I agree with @Philip S
Just get the damn car that you like, and touches your heart. If you are an actual car enthusiast like me, you won't get the car that is fastest or most luxurious but the car that you like, is very good and the car that makes you feel good...
I'd get the 3 series but then again I see more of them on the road than Toyota corollas...
very well said lol
spar

elitestar in what country? that clearly has to be in few parts of Europe. For the rest of the world no car is any where as common as the Toyota corrolla and camry. They r the highest selling cars globally by a mile. The 3 series is one of the highest selling compact luxury cars in the world. There's a difference between them
elitestar Corolla is best seller elsewhere
All these fking reviews! Just buy the one you love! Love is what makes you the happiest in your life!
+thoravian Get the new Mercedes and don't give BMW a second look anymore.
+philip s (Dishano) True Happinest is free.
devilzmantis true happiness is in your right hand ;)
thoravian in my case, it's in both hands LOL ;)
devilzmantis haha sorry mate, I've heard that some men have trouble finding it, good luck brother !
There is no best car in the segment no winner. They all have ups and down. It what YOU like the most. But I will say the BMW looks dull
Agreed. I have just traded in my 3 series (11 plate) for the 16 plate Jag, and I absolutely adore it. It makes the BMW interior look so dated and bland.
For those curious about the engine light sensor on the jag, do not worry. They did it on purpose, to maintain the nostalgic moment with Jaguar.
thanks for the time, effort, energy and enthusiasm it takes to do a review like this !
Yours are the kind of videos that I give a Thumbs Up to, before I even start watching. Another one well done!
Also, Mr. Quirk it's great to see you in a car rather than a bike, but I do love those motorcycle videos. The more the merrier!
Brand new Jag. Engine light on. Not surprised.
+Adam Maciejewski
Why ?
+Adam Maciejewski Oh--very witty. Not.
Don't quit your day job.
+Bradford Northern Nothing against you, Bradford.
Whats wrong when the engine light on!?
Am not an expert in cars :D
What does this even mean!?
mohamed mounes
It usually means exhaust emmisions were out of specification.
Great video - Jag wins for me, because it's stunning, but got to admit that BMW certainly know how to develop a class-leading powertrain...
just love it... effortless power delivery from low revs... musical... very secure car...light sensation... flies... very musical,,,, had 320d for years... and will never change model...lots of fun... just has perfect equilibrium... i find it somehow safer than the rest...
Soooo... The Merc delivers the best economy in the actual drive, but you guys rate it least efficient in the scoring at the end!? Did BMW threaten to not pay your expenses or something?
Will you buy a c class with an auto and a 1.6 litre diesel?
+TheJamesthe13 The C class had a less powerful 1.6 vs the 2.0's so it should have been a lot better.
The C-Class still looks very modern to this day, while the other 2 look a bit dated.
exactly! thank youu
Great review
jag is smart..bmw is cool...mercedes is comfortable
Also let us not forget that the Jag is by far the best looking of the three.
they need to do Audi a4 2016 vs jaguar xe vs Mercedes c class 2015
Thank you! Same here!
If I have a choice then I definitely go for BMW for it's driving dynamic, but I love jaguar for it's simple elegant design.
It is too late to comment because it's 2020 and know compare to 3series, jaguar look gorgeous, BMW just looks awkward at rear in most of the 2020 models
I bought all three:
Mercedes for my Grandma
BMW for my Dad
Jaguar for ...... me !!
Seriously after all the VW emission cheat scandal all diesel Audis should be disqualified.
+TheChamp 101 Don't jump to conclusions. Chances are other brands took a chance with emission fraud as well. Probably even BMW.
Thanks for subscribing!
+You Tube The emissions sensor was slightly faulty which put it into limp home mode. Turning the car off and on again seemed to work but the engine light remained on.
+Auto Trader
My 2006 Jaguar S-Type R do this 3 times a year, I guess Jaguar still have not fix this problem yet.
The 3 series still got it. I'm seriously thinking about buying a 340i for daily drive.
Thanks for replying man. But the Servotronic, puny wheels and fat sidewalls really do make a monumental difference.
+Adrian Chua Q.Y. The "Ultimate Driving Machine" is no more....
I'm quite sure it still is
+Adrian Chua Q.Y. Apperantly, it was a Sport (1:42).
At 10.12, the video says that heated seats are a telling omission on the XE. They do actually come as standard on Prestige and above.
im in us and wow first time i've ever seen a manual benz.
Come to Germany , you can see everythink of Benz , in automatic, manuell , half automatic, tip tronic ….
I own a bmw 320d, 2013 manual. I am a bit shocked to see the mpg figures in this video. I do not get less than 57 mpg on a long run driving at 75-80 mph... It is an extremely economic car for the power you get!
I agree I have the same car 57-60mpg.
When they'll be available, you should do this test with the Audi A4 and maybe the Alfa Romeo Giulia too. A 5 sport-sedans comparison
In the long run, mercedes benz c claas have proven that it is a better car if you compare the three cars today the merc looks newer and it is more safe to be in it loce MB
I personally think the jaguar looks way better than the c class and the BMW 3, even the newer version of these.
This jaguar is really stunning !
Mercedes Forever!
The Jaguar is so good. 😍
Mercedes benz navigation system is not as good as its rivals. Bmw has the best satellite navigation system i've ever seen.
Well its all about personal preference. And i prefer iDrive system, the maps, colors graphics ecause i found it better than any other brands.
for the jaguar xe to come second in this review is outstanding. it's a brand new car with a brand new engine. within 18 months jaguar will dominate this class.
Great review. Proper real ownership test.
Great review/comparison! I envy you for your jobs.
I sat at the rear of the 3 series, and the Xe and its identical head & legroom (I am 5ft11 inches), so the reporter is talking rubbish saying the 3 series has more room.
I love JAG! He is better than other compared cars
wow great review you guys deserve more subscribers!
+Nano Flores Thanks Nano! spread the word!
Would love an update on this video!
Nice review
What about the volvo v60, im missing that. And I can't wait for a test of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia
+Elmaghrabiz Hi there, It is a British plate.
+Auto T
+Elmaghrabiz hi, these are british plates, and with blue line on left indicates European Union
Excellent reference to Ron Burgundy!
It has a four door but drive like a coupe, i could not tell this car is a 4 cylinder. after just driving a clk coupe v6. today was the first day it rained sense i got the bmw, and i put it to the test. the handling was amazing, listen the bmw is really the ultimate driving experience. hands down.
o yeah, now I'm going to watch the video, and see what you guys think.
After watching this video. I know cars, and yes i was right again, BMW welcome to my family!!
Couldn't agree less about the Merc's interior. Shiny thin plastic everywhere doesn't mean quality in my book
+Richard Bagot I agree, and it's not actually leather but the horrible Artico stuff Mercedes are plastering everywhere now.
The BMW is extremely old fashioned, the rear of the Mercedes is ugly. The jaguar is the best looking car with the most modern design
Well, another relative comparison. From my point of view, sales reflect better which one is more desirable and that is C Class for UK now. And I would agree that overall is a little bit better than 3 Series and XE as a complete package.
The Jaaaaaag ofcourse ❤❤
Jaguar xe 44mpg,i think not i had one on test drive didnt use eco mode and got 52.5 mpg.
This new Paul Bond is excellent. Well done!
Jaguar XE : 7.7sec 0-60mph, 141mph, 71.7mpg, 106g/km CO2 (automatic)
After watching 1:42 sec of the video, I saw something that I have always wondered. How can BMW cars, in almost all cases, be the once that have the most power/ the best 0-60 time and still have the best MPG compered to cars with similar engines?
+Xzizia92 Because they have superior engineering. They spend more money for engines R&D than other brands, because they know their brand image depends on it.
+uport2 Yes Yes superior engineering. turbo chargers blown up, timing chains jumped over. I see
;D
Did anyone notice the driver changing lanes and seats between scenes? Seems the team couldn't make up their minds on RHD or LHD...
The team only drove RHD cars in this video.
u mug lol its when they use reverse cam
8:12 should have gone for the XE 2.0d 180hp instead of the 163 the the 180 is faster to 60 then the 320d and has the same top speed of a 140
Interesting opinion on the Mercedes' transmission.
The BMW is the oldest car and still wins...These guys know how to make a car...
Arven Tahtyan loses every motortrend comparison lol
Wins what? You haven't seen the video. There are many categories and BMW took the third and last place.
overall BMW won
Arven Tahtyan i
Arven Tahtyan bmw is like puberty it just passes after years it is not like merc and volvo
The view is stunning! May I ask where is it?
+Huen Lingfung Hi Huen, this was filmed through the Pyrenees in France and the beach shot is a sunset in Le Touquet, France.
@@AutoTraderTV Nice gig, if you can get it (smile).
Well the Jag has not aged well
Jaguar XE reliability
The Jaguar XE was rated 71st out of the top 100 cars in our 2019 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, with a fairly poor result for reliability, and failed to appear in our 2020 survey.
It didn't sell well. Never reaching the 100k units per annum that was predicted. The best year, 2016, JLR sold about 50k.
The jaaaag my friends Jaag jaaag is the love i drove c220 and serie 3 and 5 the Jaguar 🐆 is more stable fuel eco , 0 breakdown and full of options ...
I have to say from my experience that the Merc does NOT surpass the the Jag in interior spec!
i agree. even after the new c class, the bimmer still looks the best, even better with the M Sport trim.
Simply not true. especially in real life
Taras Tab Simply true. especially the LCI F30
Nice video. Interesting to see that some car journalists still pick the 3-series as best overall in class, and some the new C-class. The Jaguar never seems to be a real number one, just a very interesting and serieus contender.
Dear BMW and MB...just abandon runflat and bring back full size spare tire then its good to go.
Just look at it! It's nice and shiny, just look at it. Sometimes all you can do is just look at it.😂
just look at it!
The c class is known to have faulty gear boxes that slip and they are not cheap
Good review. I’ve owned all the fast ones but I’ll stick with the m3. C63 was a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, the m3 was like a scalpel. Surgical in whatever it did. Jag had character but poor interior....however the new jag is better in the interior quality so I may give it another shot.
I don't agree that all cars in this segment need to be sporty. I for one prefers a more comfortable ride than a sporty one. But I do like them to look stylish. My money goes to the XE.
