The lyrics in this song are fantastic. IIRC it was originally released on a charity album to raise funds to help people suffering with the conflict in Yugoslavia. One of the best anti war songs ever written in my opinion. The opening sample from the movie Cool Hand Luke is also perfect.
Oh man they have so many good songs, for now I’ll recommend The November rain trilogy w/ don’t cry & estranged, You could be mine, Mr. Brownstone, Nightrain Live at Tokyo 1992 and that’s only some of their great songs
When Axl first got to LA from his hometown, he got off the bus and old man was sitting on the corner and saw Axl in his cowboy boots and said “Do you know where the fuck you are ? Your in the Jungle, your gunna die”. The song is about LA.
@Ashley Smith it was indeed LA so you're correct. He had a bad encounter in St Louis with a man trying to hit on him at 17. But the Jungle comment you're right
Also recommend You’re Crazy (absolute VIBE), Shackler’s Revenge (if you wanna hear their weirdest good song), and also the trilogy Don’t Cry (Original), November Rain (top 3 greatest songs ever made), and Estranged (will leave you on the floor by the end). Also worth checking out the alternate lyrics version of Don’t Cry and also Locomotive (Complicity). Sincerely, Top 0.001% GNR listener
This song feels more relevant today than when it was made. True facts. And seeing your reaction along with so many others all see this. The lyrics are spot on! By the way y’all’s baby is beautiful!! I love watching your reactions. Thank you!
W. Axl Rose (vocals) of GNR was capable of writing a deep song about human conflicts... while most of his songs are raunchy and rather provocative 😂 'Civil War' was recorded in 1990 and was the last track w/ original drummer Steven Adler playing. Apparently, his addictions had messed up his skills and he couldn't perform cohesively in the studio (the drums here had to be stitched together after numerous takes) so he was fired... The Cult drummer Matt Sorum came in and recorded all the rest of the songs for the 'Use your illusion' albums and joined GNR in 1991.
Thank you for playing this. I was in HS when I came out. I played the CD till it was done and then bought it again. Damn scratches from rotating it from my car, home and portable.
Hey Life with Recklezz I Hate to say it BUT Since this song was put out in 91There has always been a War going on some where. I have APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION ,their First Album .I did Have Use Your Illusion I and II, and I did Guns-n- Rose LIVE From 31987-1994. . Appetite For Destruction Changed My Life Forever. I was not just kid with Tattoos Long Red/Strawberry blonde Hair anymore. I Wore my Black Fringed Leather jacket Couchos threaded Through The Fringe in just the right places Couchos are Round pieces of silver to Set it off Snake Cowboy Boot and a Black T- Shirt and tight Levi's and i was doing that Before Guns-n- Roses came out. Just as Axl Roses said in an interview people told him he looked like he just got off the boat then in1988 they Hit It Big and came Back and everybody were dressing like them and people were buying their Grandma Cowboy Boots on Melrose.. I was Just 16 or17 when their first record came out Whos, Neal
This song was recorded and first aired on the radio in late 1989/early 1990. Almost 2 years before the Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 were released in the fall of 1991. I was in high school in Saginaw Michigan and remember it well
There are so many men. Paradise City November rain rocket Queen live in Tokyo 1992. Anything from appetite for destruction. Come as a jam you're probably like that a bit
The phrase "civil war" has nothing to with how calm/behaved ('civil') it is. It's short for "civilizational war"; combat between forces within the same civilization
I made a tape recording of this song and sent it to both sides leaders in the civil war in Yugoslavia , made no difference as i thought it wouldnt , made me feel better though lol
This is definitely my favourite Guns and Roses song, the words the thought that went into it it means so much, Axl Rose he's an amazing songwriter he's a bit of an a****** I guess that goes with the territory. :-)
If you like this, I would highly recommend reacting to the music video for the song "Rooster" by the band "Alice in Chains", it's about the guitars dad's experience in the Vietnam war.
That's certainly a deep song. It's so relevant no matter if they made it in the 1990s or today still, humanity always seem to like being in conflicts. Btw you have a beautiful baby, great family, take care of it as a strong family is super important for the future of your baby
Shut up OMG!ya'll killing me with cuteness.Shout out to the fam. Us old bitches can't help it.Lil guys just so stinking cute.😀Axel Rose is from Indiana. Banger, Powerful choice of words grabs attention to important facts.Respect.
This is a powerful song and it will probably always apply - unfortunately. You should check out "Fall of the Peacemakers" by Molly Hatchet. It's a powerful song too that I think you'll like.
MASSIVE SONG!!!!!... JUNETEENTH WE MUST REMEMBER THE UNISON OF BLACK AND WHITE SOLDIERS WHO DIED. NOT JUST ONE OR THE OTHER. MUCH RESPECT TO YOUNG ONES LIKE YOU TWO TAKING IN WHAT MY GENERATION WAS LAYING DOWN.
Just realize you did this a month ago I requested it on knocking on Heaven's Door today little late endings reactions but I'm here always great reaction piece
What's so civil about war anyway ? Brilliant reaction video brother and probably the most underrated prophetic song lyrics of all time. Blessings from Ireland.
I know I am 11 months late but great reaction. I love seeing it hit you like this. This is what makes people unite and come together, which we all must do. The lyrics could not be truer, even today, 22 years later. The globalists are fighting hard. Study up and learn. We have to come together. Go back to the late 60's and listen to the protest songs like Buffalo Springfields Wild Side.
This is one of the Best GNR songs and lyrics. This song has 30 years and steel the message is the same today, we leave in the same fuckQ@)%%* situation sadly
The lyrics in this song are fantastic. IIRC it was originally released on a charity album to raise funds to help people suffering with the conflict in Yugoslavia. One of the best anti war songs ever written in my opinion. The opening sample from the movie Cool Hand Luke is also perfect.
Who do the cows hate to see walk into the barn in the morning?
Strother Martin speaking
"You can't trust freedom when it's not in your hand" . That is some real shit.
Best lyrics they ever wrote. They should have been proud.
These are some of the best guns n roses lyrics you will ever hear.🔥👍🏼
Great reaction and you definitely got it right about how we're still going through the same things 30 yrs later....
I love the fact you love GUNS N' Roses Recklezz. Axl Rose was one of the greatest. That voice is special.🤙🔥

@Ashley Smith Close but no. Axl hitch hiked to New York with a friend when he was 17 (I think) and that's where he had that encounter
@Ashley Smith it was indeed LA so you're correct. He had a bad encounter in St Louis with a man trying to hit on him at 17. But the Jungle comment you're right
Mind blowing how a song 30 years old is as relevant and powerful as ever. Thanks for reacting to this. And you all are a beautiful family by the way.
Another good Gn'R song to check out would be "Don't Damn Me"
One of my faves but nobody ever reacts. Guess they gotta do what everyone else does cause that gets the views
Fun fact....Axl Rose was born and raised in Lafayette, IN.
This song feels more relevant today than when it was made. True facts. And seeing your reaction along with so many others all see this. The lyrics are spot on! By the way y’all’s baby is beautiful!! I love watching your reactions. Thank you!

Civil war by guns and Rose's tells you all that you need to know
Lyricists/artists are incredibly deep and profound or "ahead of their time"
It takes some of us ages to understand or appreciate these messages 🙏🏻
The line when they shot the man who said peace could last forever I believe is about John Lennon.
He was murdered by a crazed fan in 1980.
Yup and ordered by the CIA. He had too big of a peace-following crowd and I think it scared the globalists.
The opening sequence is from the film
Cool Hand Luke
Tienen que escucharlo en vivo en francia 1992 Porque interrupen el video eso se hace al final
The phrase "civil war" has nothing to with how calm/behaved ('civil') it is. It's short for "civilizational war"; combat between forces within the same civilization

This song is all about this day and time.
My favorite along with Rocket Queen by them. Pretty powerful. Dropped when Desert Storm was winding down to become a bigger disaster.
That's certainly a deep song. It's so relevant no matter if they made it in the 1990s or today still, humanity always seem to like being in conflicts.
