A little history behind this show. It was GNR’s first time headlining a stadium. Not many big bands were playing South America at the time and so they created generations of fans by doing their first big tour there. GNR in South America holds a mythical status amongst the people even today. Best version of this song is Paris 92, great video of it. Axl has never not sang live. He is not a fan of lip syncing
As a brazillian i don't like too much of this concert, the first one in South America , Axl is too high and he forgot the lyrics of all the songs, he made a lot of good screams and vocal lines, but he mess up with the lyrics during the entire concert, they were all too high on this concert, because in the afternoom before the concert at the hotel the entire band had drinked 20 whisky bottles!
Other suggestions: So Fine, You're Crazy (there are two versions. one is slow, one is fast), My Michelle, Mama Kin (Aerosmith cover), There was a time, Madagascar.
The Paris 1992 performance is a lot better than this. Singing at a higher altitude like in rio is difficult for singers and you can tell it’s affecting axl here. Hard to breath. Big reason why he’s not running around the stage like he usually does but the 1992 Paris performance would absolutely blow you away.
This era is when he became a rock god but at the same time he kept pushing his voice to the point he ruined his vocal cords later never to be the same but we can be grateful for the fact that it happened
His voice has gone in this performance, didn't sing the proper lyrics to the album version. It's easy to see why he wrecked his voice by singing as high as he did for too long. Paris 92 & Tokyo 92 so much better than this.

He does not rehearse with the band, this wasn’t as good as the 2nd night they played Civil War. He forgot the words but he can get away with it. This man is not human!!
In my humble opinion, as amazing as GnR are, albums wise, their Live performances are something way beyond that amazing level & actually attending their concert, Live, is even beyond my wildest dreams as far as experiences go. There is no concert footage (and there are many awesome concert footage out there) which could ever replicate the feeling of attending a live GnR concert. Nowdays, with so many cell phone recordings during concerts, Axl's vocals are a mere shadow (phone recordings make his voice sound weak, which it is not) in comparison to his Live performances (He is still incredible, Live).

The better version of this song happened in Tokyo during the same tour but the song still Kicks A## . Duff is so High I'm shocked he could still play the Bass there in this video from Rocking Rio.

By the way, dont listen to any haters who speak badly about GnR, or Axl's live singing. Axl does not lip sync. He could do it on days when he may not feel well (affects his vocals) if he wanted to, but he does NOT use lip sync, it is a big part of why I love him :)
This isn't their best performance by far. Axl missed words and he didn't look too great, in fact they all looked and sounded quite off. I would check out 92 Tokyo live Civil War. Much better or the album version.
It was released in 1991, but I listened in 2007. It is a good song. Hearing this song reminded me of the Russia-Ukraine war. Really hate the Russian invasion. Too many victims & bad effects. This show wasn’t part of the South American tour of ‘93, though. It was 1 of 2 festival shows that month 2 years before that.
