Apart from the trench coat I have them all. Don't wear the stripey tee shirt so much though. I was thinking about French women and red lipstick. It looks very good but how do you keep it on? Also if you wear nail polish would it be red too?
I love scarves. I can only wear them in winter in Australia, much too hot in summer. My love of them started when I visited Paris in 1971 when I was 18 years old. I noticed how many of the ladies wore them and how chic they looked. They add the 'icing' to a simple outfit. I enjoy all your videos Marie-Anne. Thank you.
I live in Australia and found a trench jacket a few years ago and it’s my go to jacket now, I love it. The area I live in doesn’t have cold winters (requiring long coats), although I have some long coats (including a trench of course) I’m lucky to wear them once in a season, so this trench jacket is so perfect and versatile. Love the list, I have all of them, but have decided to have a declutter and refocus my wardrobe to a more streamlined classic style. Thanks Marie-Anne for your insights and advice. Hahaha your lock down declutter livestream video has just started, must be fate 😁
Love everything you suggested ❤️. Love the French style. Just had my DNA done. And my father always said we were alittle French. Well, 20 per cent.. I was so happy 🗼💕 Cee Cee. Thank U.

I have all these pieces except a woolen sweater. I have so many beautiful scarves. In summer it's to warm to wear them except in evening. So I look forward to cooler weather to really enjoy them
Bonjour Marie Anne, I like your video. I have all classic pieces except jeans. I don't like jeans. Perhaps I am of a few people, who prefer other trousers like cigarette trousers or just normal leg trousers. I like wool, cotton and linen. I am obsessed with scarves. I might buy one every month. Of course with bright colours. Earlier I was buying print and plain colour blouses. Now I buy only plain colour blouses to wear scarves. Lots of greeting, Ewa
I have a beautiful scarf with spring colours which my daughters bought me last year. I wear it with my spring coat on my one trip out of the house every day - walking the dog or to the grocery store! It makes me feel pretty at this difficult time when nobody sees what I am wearing because we are all inside most of the time 😔. Merci Marie-Anne for your message - I want to pretend life is normal for a little while!!
Bonjour Mary-Anne, I saw men in Paris wearing scarves! This was a great vid. I have all those peices except black dress. I lean toward navy but you brought to mind I can bring color to my face with a scarf as black completely washes me out.
Greetings Marie Anne. Agree and rely on all mentioned. I would add one basic black skirt as alternative to the dress for those of us who avoid one piece dresses. Stay well and thank you for the posting.
Bonjour Marie-Anne, I always enjoy watching your videos. Although I live in a hot tropical climate, I still value my collection of cashmere sweaters in classic round neck, Vee neck and turtleneck. I do use them for when I travel to cooler climates like San Francisco or New York. However, I do wear my many cashmere cardigans quite often when I an in air conditioned stores or offices. Recently I bough t a nice Italian V neck pullover which I can wear over a small printed dress which gives the look of a sweater and skirt. As for your other items, yes it striped tops, skirts and scarves. I only have three jeans, black, dark blue and white. I always loved trench coats but no need for any here. I do have an ultra suede pale grey trench coat that I may use when traveling which goes well with my black merino wool dress. Everything I have is over 25 years old but in excellent condition. I wish I could wear them more often. Merci for this video.
Cashmere sweaters ✔️ Stripey tops✔️ Dark wash straight leg jeans✔️ Trench coat✔️ Patterned scarves✔️ I need a little black dress. No idea how to pick one tho. Does it have to be structured? can it be A shape? silky? lacy?
Hi Marie-Anne, I have no idea where scarves originated, but I remember from the mid 1960s some scarves that belonged to either my mother or my 2 older sisters. What I remember is there were maybe a half dozen in multiple colors/prints, very 1950s in style. Also, they were a small square shape. In the last 5-10 yrs I watched Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and noticed of course her iconic scarf. I imagine the ones my mother owned were from that era. I sure wish I had those today as an heirloom. I believe they were silk because they're probably weren't many synthetic fibers in those days. Anyway, it's fun to recall this. Thanks for another great video.
Bonjour Marie-Anne, I love this video.... it reaffirmed that I have the classics. I love my cashmere, after having worked in Mongolia, I understood the value of cashmere. Now in China, I appreciate the high quality silk that is made here. Natural fabrics is the way to go!
For years I have been wearing parka jackets during the summer, both for casual and when I go for a night out. I recently needed a yellow coat for an environmental campaign. For years I have purchased my clothes from charity shops and have always found what I wanted. I found the most amazing canary yellow trench coat in a charity shop. I have realized that this is far more flattering than parka jackets, which are straight up and down. The A line of the skirt part and the belt flatter my shape. My own personal style is Gothic. I tend not to go for black or basic colours. I go for green, purple and red. The most flattering styles for my shape is fitted tops and long, flared A line skirts. Years ago when I was a perfect size 10 I did used to wear jeans. I don't wear them now. When younger I did used to wear high heels. Some years ago I wore the shorter kitten heels an evening out. I now tend to wear flat shoes or ballet pumps during the day. For evening, in the winter I wear Victorian boots with a small heel. I also have two pairs of 1930's style shoes with a Louis heel. This gives me a small but comfortable heel. As they are chunky heels they are must more stable than a thinner heel. It is important to know your own style and choose pieces which are good quality and won't date.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Bonjour Marie-Anne, thanks for your reply. I did used to spend quite a bit on clothes - not very expensive clothes. My top brand was Per Una, the Marks and Spencer alternative brand. Some years ago I needed to reduce my spending and discovered charity shops. To my amazement I found brand new clothes in my favorite brands, for a fraction of the price. The money spent went to a good cause, so this was a brilliant discovery. No need for feeling guilty about buying what you need and no need to worry about overspending. This continued when I was no longer in a position where I had to be careful and spend minimally.
belle vidéo, merci! Je peux dire que j'ai cinq pièces sur six dans ma garde-robe. Le trench me manque, mais je veux l'acheter le plus tôt possible. Ciao!
Wonderful video and you touch on every item that I currently own . Hermes scarfs are my favorite. The dark denim looks more elegant and elongates your figure as well. Stripes are so sheek and can make a casual outfit look so beautiful. Soft cashmere sweaters are so flattering on everyone nude colors or bold. Thanks for this video dear. Be safe and healthy.😊
I must be French at heart. I own all those items and except for the LBD, wear them frequently. I recently had to cut my scarf collection in half since I had so many I could never find the one I wanted to wear!
I do have each of these pieces, a tan,a black and a pink trench. I do love scarves. I have many. Never ripped jeans. this I don’t understand. I do wear dark wash. Perhaps today I am French Chic. I have merino wool and cashmere sweaters, they feel so nice.
I now understand why I love the pieces I love. I have so many of the pieces you have talked about. But I sometimes try things out of my comfort zone (trends) and I end up not wearing them because it is not my style.
Wonderful suggestions as always. I just said good night to my cashmere sweaters (for the summer season). I love stripes, I think they look good on almost everyone. My mother said every lady should have a good F&W (funerals and weddings) dress in their closet. I recently thrifted a nice classic trench coat, I need to have the sleeves altered and can't wait for fall to wear it. I wan't to wear scarves more!
Got them all! My last acquisition was a red trenchcoat with navy and white striped satin lining inside the hood. I think I have an obsession with trenchcoats, I now have three! The other two are beige. I don't wear my little black dress much as it's lacy with short sleeves - it only comes out in summer. I love plain and stripey round neck jumpers (mine are mostly M&S's best!) and I'm a firm believer in wearing a scarf to ward off sore throats and hoarseness, which I tend to get because of my job as a teacher. Not only are they practical but they also lend interest to my otherwise neutral, unpatterned outfits. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
I love my scarves. A whole drawer full of them. Even if I'm not wearing anything particularly inspiring, putting a scarf on elevates my 'mood'. Not sure that's the right word but you know what I mean. Thanks again for all your effort, enjoy your videos.
I love scarves! I can't wear jewellery very much because it brings on my eczema, so I go for scarves instead - pashmina scarves in winter, and I recently got several 'silk' (though one of them genuinely is silk!) scarves from my nan, all of them at least twenty years old and which I can hopefully wear through spring and on cooler days in summer, and into autumn.
Bonjour Marie-Anne! My score isn’t so good on the basics but I really could do with a little black dress. I never seem to find one when I look for one. You look fabulous in yours. I don’t have a trench but I’d love to buy one. I rarely wear jeans these days because I don’t find them comfortable. I have one pair in dark denim at the moment. Scarves are great accessories to give an outfit some personality. Most people in Australia would only really wear them in winter but I have some smaller ones I like to wear even in summer in my hair when I have a ponytail. Just something I’ve always done, not always but depending on what I’m wearing.
I have everything but a trench coat. I do have a long black cotton coat that is intricately embroidered. I giggled a bit about the little black dress because I have 12 of them in various styles. The one you wore for the video is similar to one I wear to work and later change accessories and shoes to go the the Goth club. Seems that I'm the only American that wears scarves regularly (about 2-5 times a week). Positive comments about them are often from European guests or random Europeans I encounter in the street.
I love scarves - they can be styled in so many different ways , on your handbag , your hat your hair , a pony tail- and elevate the overall look. You are absolutely right - it is that je ne sais quoi désinvolture which is the hallmark of French chic ! I am not " petite robe noire " though ! as I am tan and cinnamon; but definitely midi (or ankle length) jupe noire, grey, taupe or navy blue .And iof course a staunch fan of black, white, striped and polka dottted T-shirts.. 🔳💠♡⬛🔲💙🔹️🔳🟦🔳♥️☆
Lovely. 1st time on your channel! Magnifique👍 I always have stripes ❤as well as all of these classics. Scarves are my favorite accessory...when I was in Paris, I bought one from a street vendor. Someone commented on it and she turned out to be an Amercan living part time in Paris! I loved my visit and even stayed in an apartment a few blocks from the Seine. Will continue to follow your channel! Merci !
Marie-Anne, Bonjour!! I will wear my new greige top with white Levi’s, gold chunky chain, cream high heeled sandals, glazed rattan shoulder bag with blue & white scarf to start. Have a fun weekend!!💕🥂
I recently purchased some stripey items based on your recommendation. I purchased a tank top and a few tee shirts because of the warm climate here in Florida. I'm very happy with the looks I can create using my existing pieces.
Thanks so much Marie Anne I love scarves 🙂 Your videos have been such an inspiration. Here in NYC we are working from home I will be cleaning out my closets soon and will be enrolling in some of your courses too . Have a lovely weekend 😍😍
Bonjour Marie-Anne!! I have everything but the trench coat. California has been in a drought for a long time. I got rid of my trench coat a decade ago. I did receive my LilySilk crewneck, sleeveless knit top though!
Yes, Marie-Anne I like the top but it looks like a small stain on the front. They want me to wash it first. I ordered their detergent. Then I can return it for a fee. Not happy with customer service. I bought the pink cap sleeve & I am happy. I ordered the black pleated skirt with a slit. Pleats we’re all wrinkled. Hard to get out wrinkles now. Should have been packed better. I sent picture of small stain on knit top right in the front.
Thanks so much for another excellent video Marie-Anne! I was just wondering if you would do a video for someone who is at that inbetween age? I'm 37 next month and get a bit stuck about what styles I can still wear. Sometimes I think I'm too old for certain things but too young for others. Anyway just thought I would throw the idea out there. Much love from the UK xx ❤
I have 5 items that are classic and timeless with the exception of my perfect little black dress, i'm very picky, and I haven't yet found the right one. I'm looking for a dress that has 3/4 sleeves, and flatters my body shape, I love your little black dress however. I own a lot of scarves, its a way to interject some colour in my wardrobe. Great video as always Marie-Anne!
Cashmere sweater, yes, but I don't like it, I bought a size too big so it's relegated to dog walking and a new one is on my list for this year. Stripes don't suit me, although I'm thinking of trying to find a very narrow stripe - I had a striped t-shirt years ago which was a very narrow stripe and it looked ok. Boot cut jeans for me - I think they balance me out better than straight leg. Little navy dress - I have one for winter, and it's on my list for summer. I think I'll go for a charcoal grey one too. Yes, I have a trench coat and I have a couple of silk scarves which I love. Still some work to do for me then!!
Bonjour Marie-anne, thank you for a lovely video. I love the idea of have just a small amount of quality pieces and being creative with the accessories. Sometimes to much choice works against us. Carla x

Everytime that i go to France , i always like to buy a classic piece or your excellent perfumes. I love your videos content , full of classy topics.Greetings from NY.💝
For decades, I have worn almost all neutral solids, almost all the time (mainly black, navy and grey), and so for me, scarves are so necessary! I love them and I buy far too many of them. Along with footwear, handbags, gloves and hats, they are the way I introduce a little bit of "excitement" into an otherwise very plain palette. Scarves and shoes, especially, are my favorite accessories.
Bonjour Anne-Marie Great video. I loved your LBD and scarf. I love scarves for all the same reasons and in the warmer months I find it so much easier to fold one up in my purse instead of a sweater in case it gets cold. I was hoping the classic blazer made your list-- I wear them year around as you can go from a heavy tweed to a lighter version, depending on the weather. The most versatile one I have is in navy in a medium weight. I always really enjoy your videos!!
Hello from New England Marie-Anne! Thanks for posting another great video. I have and love all the items. And lucky to have inherited an extensive Silk scarf collection. I just need a little more confidence with the scarves...then I will be a true French chic lady! 😉
I always look forward to your videos. I do have the dark-wash jeans in my wardrobe, now I just need the little black dress. I can't wait until I can shop again for spring-summer wardrobe items. I do have a couple of stripe-knit dresses and they'll be fine while the weather is on the cooler side. Would you recommend a summery black dress? How about shoes for spring-summer? I think I would favor a strappy sandal that I could wear with everything. Thanks for the great tips.
You’ll be happy to know I own all 6 pieces! Only my scarves are of colors (I have at least a dozen, my favorite accessory)! Loving your channel and your content! I hope you’re doing well and staying safe! Take care 💕
Trench Coats don't seem to be in fashion where I live but I do have all the other pieces you mentioned. I am having trouble buying a pair of nude court shoes in a lower heel. I had to return a pair I bought as they were too uncomfortable. Stay well & thank you for another enjoyable video.
Scarves are well-worth the investment especially when carefully chosen in my own pallet. Nearly 40 years ago while teaching in Japan, I splurged a ridiculous amount of money on a Christian Dior scarf because it matched my color palette exactly. I have been extremely careful with that scarf and it has added so much to countless outfits! Over the years, I have been privileged to have been gifted a number of really beautiful silk scarves from Asian friends. My children have also purchased winter scarves for me as souvenirs from their travels, and I now have quite a collection, including a variety That are hand knit for winter coats. You’re absolutely right that a scarf adds just the right amount of flair to an otherwise simple and classic outfit or jacket. And cashmere! Ooh la la! I love it! If it is too pricey, look for like new pieces off season on eBay!

I've got all six, thanks to a good teacher. I do love my scarves. It's amazing how they complete an outfit.
very elegant dress!
I need to up my scarf wearing. Thank you for these charming suggestions. I think I must be a little French!🇫🇷
Thank you.
I do enjoy wearing these pieces. Thankyou for your videos. They go along with my minimalist style.
Whew - I have all of the items, and an enormous collection of scarves, which I love to wear every day.
I would be interested in your evening gown suggestions.
That black dress is stunning. You look great in it!!
I have all of the pieces and wear them often.
Marie-Anne,
Vive la France!!!
I think France must be the nation with most scarves 😄 I live in the UK in the SW & not many ladies wear them here but hey I'll start a new trend 😍
Hello Marie-Anne, I have all those items, except the LBD. I love the stripes (mariniers??) and the scarves, most of all. 😊🌹👏
Love everything you suggested ❤️. Love the French style. Just had my DNA done. And my father always said we were alittle French. Well, 20 per cent.. I was so happy 🗼💕 Cee Cee. Thank U.
Marie-Anne, I am so happy to see you. I can’t wait to wear my little black dress with a pretty scarf under my trench coat to go out and meet my friends. You give us great hope and I am so grateful. While we are in our homes, we can think about theses classic pieces. Love to you.
Yes, I agree. It cheers me up to listen to Marie-Anne. Everything is a bit depressing with this virus about.
Hello Marie-Anne thank you for this info you always cheer us up love watching your videos i have all the items and scarves i think i overdo that in winter i have always enjoyed knitting something . I love bamboo so have added them to my collection and silk is so luxurious love my scarves . Thanks again for your hard work keeping us informed. Keep safe love Angela
Simple but classic and quality pieces. Love it!
I have all these pieces except a woolen sweater. I have so many beautiful scarves. In summer it's to warm to wear them except in evening. So I look forward to cooler weather to really enjoy them
Bonjour Marie Anne,
I like your video.
I have a drawer full of cashmere sweaters. They are something I can't get enough of.
Cashmere sweaters ✔️
Stripey tops✔️
Dark wash straight leg jeans✔️

Patterned scarves✔️
I need a little black dress.
Sadly the charity shops here are closed now. Nowhere to take your excess items or find a bargain.
I have lots of scarves and the classic pieces you mentioned.
I love my scarves. A whole drawer full of them. Even if I'm not wearing anything particularly inspiring, putting a scarf on elevates my 'mood'. Not sure that's the right word but you know what I mean. Thanks again for all your effort, enjoy your videos.
Great list, Marie-Anne!
I thought that blazers would be included! :)
@@MarieAnneLecoeur For sure! :)
Pure gold is pretty skin friendly, yes?
Me encantan sus videos , muchas gracias señora bonita 🌹
No hay de que.
😃👍
Lovely. 1st time on your channel! Magnifique👍
I always have stripes ❤as well as all of these classics.
Wooooohooooo!!!! Can’t wait!💕
Gorgeous
I recently purchased some stripey items based on your recommendation. I purchased a tank top and a few tee shirts because of the warm climate here in Florida. I'm very happy with the looks I can create using my existing pieces.
Marie-Anne, I love cashmere sweaters, stripe tops, dark jeans, Gray jeans are a must, so please try.
I have all the items except for the trench coat. Thanks.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Awesome! 😘
Perfect list and I’m proud to say I all the items on your list. I continue to learn so much from you thanks and take good care. Hallie
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I hope so! :-)
Hooray! I have all six!
But my trench coat is burgundy. Beige washes me out and black is too strong. And my little black dress is navy.
Thanks this helped a bit. I can see a few pieces that I can incorporate into the wardrobe for work. When I go back after this virus.
Bonjour Marie-anne, thank you for a lovely video. I love the idea of have just a small amount of quality pieces and being creative with the accessories. Sometimes to much choice works against us. Carla x
Hi marie anne, i love this topic. I have all this items , exept the trench coat. I have one brown but i dont like it. Thanks to your advice, i bought a saint james stripes shirt in navy n beige and i love it.I remember , the first time that i went to paris in 2011, i bought a silk scarf in Lafayette Galleries n i love it. Everytime that i go to France , i always like to buy a classic piece or your excellent perfumes. I love your videos content , full of classy topics.Greetings from NY.💝
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Ny is very scary now
For decades, I have worn almost all neutral solids, almost all the time (mainly black, navy and grey), and so for me, scarves are so necessary! I love them and I buy far too many of them. Along with footwear, handbags, gloves and hats, they are the way I introduce a little bit of "excitement" into an otherwise very plain palette. Scarves and shoes, especially, are my favorite accessories.
We can't go wrong with accessories. Accessorize the positives.
Bonjour Anne-Marie
Great video.
Whoops, Marie-Anne!
Ah never mind. I see you linked everything already in the description. Thanks.
I love your channel and your voice...so bold and beautiful. You have so much juicy content. Hope you're staying safe and healthy during the lockdown.
Got everything except the stripes( just my pj’s) You’ve got a cracking figure Marie- Anne.👍🏻😘
On the other hand, you could be the most chic woman at Walmart in your striped pj's. ;-D
C. C. Ha ha.Pictures of people in Walmart fascinate me.No Walmart here,Cumbria UK.But Ive seen p.j’s worn out.Not a good look.
I love wool sweaters especially cashmere, but unfortunately I am allergic to the wool. Can you recommend a replacement?
You just look amazing.
Do French women wear knee/thigh high boots? If so how would they style it? Your videos are my absolute favorite! Thank you for the quality content!❤️
